Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to miriya's topic in Toys
WE KNOW. I have extensively handled both the v2 1/60 I own, and the 1/48. Unlike most of you I handle these things quite often and am not afraid to do so. The 1/60 is more durable in every area than the 1/48 except for two: -shoulder hinge -opening panel beneath the nose. I have also stated many times that the fragility of Yamato's has always been greatly exaggerated. At the same time, there have been questionable oversights made, such as the shoulder hinge on the v2 1/60. The prone parts of breakage on the 1/48 are the 1/48 and maybe the intakes, but that hasn't happened to me. Again there is no excuse, Yamato came close with the v2 1/60, had that shoulder hinge been rectified before production, it would have been the most durable valk toy out there, second only to the 1/55. You can argue all you want about how this is not meant to be handled and how we have to treat as if it is a mass produced piece of transforming porcelain, but the fact is, only one thing stops it from being the most durable modern VF-1 toy out there. -

Not available singly yet, only in the comic packs(wave 5 w/IG Destro wave 7 w/Viper), and the TRU exclusive SRO set(purple trim IG, purple trim IG Destro, red trim IG). That Voltaire is a custom. -

No. Gulletless 1/72 YF-19 and the VF-1D that Hase made, and that everyone is whining Yamato should have made the design like, prove otherwise, amongst many others. Not a fair comparison for sure, my point is, Hasegawa is a model company, Yamato is a toy company, big difference due to different priorities. Anyways I hope we find out this secret for the size of the Quarter quite soon. Out of all the Macross', the Quarter is one of my favorites because it is so damn manuverable in the series. Never saw anything like it. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The VF-11 is one of my favorite valkyrie designs, especially the fighter mode. The vertical stabilizers(tail fins) are big and distinct on the line art and in the anime, yes there is anime magic involved in the transformation, but again it's already been described how this can work. This does not seem like the huge jump in design that both the 1/60 YF-21 and YF-19 had over their previous 1/72 incarnations. The tailfins are proportionally bigger than they were on the 1/72(68 actually), but still look too small. I hope the image is just playing tricks on my eye, but sadly even if we see an unsquashed image I doubt it will make the tailfins look any taller, just a bit wider. The nose would look better unsquashed, but the tail fins, not so much. Imagine the VF-1 1/60 with tailfins with an accurate shape, but cut in half. -

To those of you who own both Animated Prowl and Oil Slick, who is more poseable? I've been hesitant to pick up Prowl because he grew on my in the show, very, very, very slowly, I detested him at first and most of my buying decisions are primarily character motivated. What changed the way I viewed him was his sympathy towards the Dinobots, and later on he proved to be less of a dick, and more helpful. So I found Prowl recently(seems hard to find around here, I think because he is a ninja, his poseability is great, and he is one of the more popular autobots in the show). Anyways I was very impressed not only by his transformation(never seen anything like that done!), but his concealable weaponry, and the articulation is very impressive, especially for the legs. I already have Jazz, and was very impressed when I bought him over summer. So that leaves me without the last circuit su ninja, Oil Slick. Oil Slick seems to have a great range of motion, just looking at his joints, and in the back story it said that he trained with Prowl. So I am thinking about buying him, plus my Zartan figure needs a ride. So to those who have both Prowl and Oil Slick, how do they compare, which do you think is better, and who is more fun to pose? -

I got the Snake Eyes and Hard Master set recently and it is excellent! The only things I don't like, are the fact that the Hard Master's head is painted, and the mask fits very tight, I already had paint from his face scrape off because of that, and the pegs for the scabbards are too short. The gear is great for ninja fans. You get a display stand, all new bow, and arrow, head band, mask, a new sword mold with the Arashikage clan logo sculpted on, new scabbard mold, a bokken(had no idea we would ever see this in a joe line, color me impressed!), a staff, and Snake Eyes even has a new belt mold, Hard Master has newly tooled sleeves of the fixed Duke arm, and shurikens/knives instead of latches/grenades that the v3 Snake Eyes mold had. Excellent set, even for the gear alone. Also Doc is now shipping w/fixed Duke arms! -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

I think it might just be something simple where you push down on the back of the cockpit, and the shield is on the bottom, so that by swiveling 180 degrees, the shield emerges. -

"Oh but wait...this is actually accurate to what happens in SDF Macross when the Macross itself transforms and all hell breaks loose within the city within the Macross itself!" Something tells me that the toy has an additional mode for turning into a display stand for either the DX or VF100s. -
At the very least POM, but preferably? TITANIUM. It helped Lt. Dan walk again and it can prevent the VF-1D from becoming "anime accurate" if you guys know what I mean.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

The tailfins(vertical stabilizers) are the main things I am worried about. So Graham, are the tailfins MUCH LARGER than we are seeing in picures or just wider? -
I really hope that the darker shoulders means the hinge is going to be made from near indestructible material.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I realize that but it is a compromise I'd accept. Not that this would happen since the project has already reached the colored prototype phase, but if Yamato made the nose a tad bit longer/thinner, enlarged the canards, and made the outer sides of the lower legs wider, we would have a more animation accurate VF-11B along with enough room for the vertical fin to slide inside. Slightly widening the lower leg on the outer side wouldn't interfere with the landing gear, since doing this adds space rather than takes space away. The legs might stick out to the sides a bit more in fighter mode, but look better in battroid mode. I'd accept that kind of compromise. -

The Club M has better tailfins and a better randome sculpt, but the wings on it suck, as do the squashed fueselage. -

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Small tail fins for one. Contrary to what you might think, the small tail fins were a problem to me on the first VF-11 Yamato made, and still don't look large enough now. I would think that 7+ years later that they could at least fix that, especially since Kawamori always emphasizes the fighter mode. It is not like this is the first time Yamato has made a VF-11 toy. They accomplished the difficult task of making the YF-21 sleek in fighter mode even with FAST packs on(1/60), yet years later, cannot find a way to make the vertical stabilizers(tail fins) big enough on the VF-11. It's already been said that Kawamori himself retconned the size of the VF-11 to be bigger. I would actually not mind if he retconned the way the vertical stabilizers were stored in battroid, hell as inaccurate as this would be, I wouldn't care if Yamato just opted to leave out the sliding mechanism, and just folded the vertical stabilizers downwards towards the outside of the the leg. That way, the landing gear have more than enough clearance within for storage. Thigh swivels were a given, I like that those points of articulation are there however I am not surprised. -

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
WTF? Don't need to. I already have a 1/72 VF-11. And the tiny tail fins were still the thing everyone complained about most besides the hips, and the main thing I personally hated, I didn't mind the other problems you mentioned. -
The main thing that I don't like, is the fact that you need to swap out parts for the thighs in gerwalk mode...or add in parts. Other than that, the toy looks great so far, detailed for it's size, and unlike a variable plamo in the same scale, this one is exponentially more survivable. I look forward to more releases.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Those tailfins suck and this sculpt only looks a tad bit better than the original from 7+ years ago. The only improvements I see are articulated fingers, and thigh swivels. When Yamato made their 1/60 YF-21 and YF-19, both were huge improvements over the 1/72 versions(despite criticisms I have voiced earlier in their respective threads), this sadly is not the case here. I hope we are looking at an extremely early mockup, otherwise this is disappointing. The small vertical tail fins drew the most criticism on the first VF-11(that and the broken hips), and on here, the tail fins are just a little bit bigger.
