Did you take the pictures with flash? If you did, can you take one with flash turned off? Maybe against a dark background? -

Thanks man. What kind of lighting did you use? I can't tell if the hinge in these shots is actually brighter or if it is the lighting, but from what I see, it looks brighter in the left image, especially compared to the shoulder armor. -

Are you talking about wave 13 Firefly? That isn't the Resolute Firefly. -

I see the balance. I can see why some fans including myself like it. I can also see why some prefer an anime accurate look, and why some are disappointed with how the 25 is portrayed in the anime, all skinny. -
X-Men:Origins Wolverine 3-3/4" Comic Figures These were unveiled recently. The Marvel Universe line has the current X-Force Wolverine, while the comic segment of the Wolverine:Origins line has most of the classic costumes already in the first waves. I like this approach since it does not take away space for other characters in the Marvel Universe line by clogging it with versions of Wolverine, now he has his own dedicated line.

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes but if the parts other than the TV hands had POM, then the 1S and 1D would have had POM listed, so far it is only listed on the 1J, and the 1J is the only one with TV hands so far, therefore, I think the TV hands are made of POM. If the shoulder hinges are, then GREAT that is what I've been hoping for, but if that were the case I wonder why Yamato did not list it for the Hikaru 1S and 1D. This is the very same reason I have been asking fans that own the 1J if they could tell if the shoulder hinges are made from POM or not. If I had one I would inspect it and report back immediately but I will not buy another unless I determine whether or not the issue has been taken care of. -

I have a v2 1/60 VF-1S Roy type. No because the pegs could snap off. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0

Because if made of ABS, the stress of the twisting movements to swivel the wrist, or pulling/pushing for removal/insertion of the pins into the socket may easily break off the pin/peg. If it was PVC, it might get stuck and just sheer off. If it is POM, you have neither of those problems. I can tell. On the 1/48 the shoulders are POM, they are much more rigid, they don't flex as much as ABS. If you try to flex them or bend them slightly they most likely will not. ABS is different, ABS will flex/bend, and is more likely to snap. POM is not. POM is typically brighter and much more rigid. For example feel the v2 1/60 Roy's shoulder hinges and compare them to how they feel to the 1/48 version. -

We don't even know if it was a design decision on Kawamori's part or if it is to leave room for the armor. -

It is the most durable valkyrie toy ever made and was more articulated than any G1 Transformer of it's time, as well as many other transforming robot toys. It is honestly a very sturdy toy. I don't see how this toy compares at all to Movie Starscream. I think people are just used to having one company to go to for their Macross fix. I'm glad we are getting another company into the fray. Durability is extremely important, if it weren't the majority of the fandom would be content building garage kits or kitbashing their Hasegawas into perfect transformation figures, or buying preassembled versions. We still don't know Yes No I live in the states and most of the Jetfires I have seen weren't broken. I've seen exponentially more broken Yamatos, in comparison. Hell some of my Yamatos even broke unintentionally. The durability of the 1/55 is no question, the amount of Jetfires I have seen in person and online can attest to that. As well as the many 1/55s out there that are not broken. No one here complained about durability on the 1/55 when the reissues came out years back, and when the Origin of Valkyrie versions came out earlier this year. Yes, someone working for the company. Reminds me of the time Toynami decided to base their MPC Alpha on the 1/48 Aoshima Legioss plamo. Mine didn't. The only problems I had with G1 Prime were that the gun handle was easy to break, and the shoulder joints could loosen over time to the point that the arms could not hold their position if raised. Yeah it is also called benefit of the doubt. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If you read my posts, I have been trying to determine whether or not the shoulders have already been switched to POM. So far, I have received no such confirmation. When I went to the Yamato site, and compared the materials lists per each new 1/60 VF-1, the only VF-1 that has POM listed is for the VF-1J, the D and Hikaru 1S do not have POM listed(the only other ones with POM listed are the ones that are bundled with FAST packs). Since the 1J is the only armorless release that has POM listed, I think that the POM is only used for the TV styled hands. Since if the hinges really are switched to POM now I'd imagine that the 1D and Hikaru 1S would have POM listed, but they don't, also no TV styled hands have been seen on the new 1/60 1D yet. -

Maybe things came up? Who knows. Also, I think the current DX toy looks better than the one in the anime, in battroid mode. When I first saw the CG models for the 25 in battroid mode, it took a while for me to get used to, and I warmed up to it after watching the anime. Nonetheless, I would have preferred a bulkier look. There are probably more sketches to be revealed later on that the DX is more accurate too. As it is, it is closer to the VF-25 in the sketches than it is in the anime.I think the japanese market is just used to having more rendition of any given mecha in model kit and toy form, having a choice between toy and model, whereas the western market is used to just getting either a toy, in this case most of you wanted something that Yamato has given; show accurate(for the most part) perfect variable toys with no other option. Agreed -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well since POM is plastic with the durability of steel(so I've heard) and has proven well for Yamato in the past as well as having a closer tolerance I suppose, I think it is easier to tool up. It is just a simple change of plastic materials, I think if it were diecast, to adjust tolerances I think the diecast would take longer too tool up. -

No prob man. Just trying to find a way to finally fix the problem. With that said, if my 1S shoulder hinges eventually give out, I will wait and see if Yamato ends up tooling new hinges out of POM, and then go for replacement hinges. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just read the materials list, and POM is not listed. No wonder the shoulder hinges are breaking! Everyone wonders why a shoulder hinge breakage on the 1/48 was unheard of(least to me it is, it hasn't happened to me and I've never heard of it), and it is because the hinges on the 1/48 are made out of POM. I can definitely feel the difference. POM is just another plastic, it isn't metal so I figure the tolerances don't need much adjustment as they would be for diecast metal. The only new 1/60 with POM is the VF-1J, and I suspect that the only POM parts are maybe the shoulder hinges, and TV hands. I checked the VF-1D specs, and POM is not listed. So if the VF-1D does not have the TV hands(hasn't been shown with them either as far as I know), then perhaps the only POM parts are the TV hands on the VF-1J. The best solution? Make those shoulder hinges out of P O M Yamato! -

It is obvious that they chose to make their toys based on a version that Kawamori wanted them to work off of, otherwise the 1/100 wouldn't have come with the hips attached high, especially considering that piece is swappable to begin with. Bandai has made toys before off of versions that do not either appear in the main series, or exist mainly in concept work or sketches. Gundam has a ton of this in their plamo line, and a Dragonar was made on the OP version, which is different than what it appears in the anime. I don't look at the DX VF-25s as Bandai's inability to create an accurate VF-25 toy, I look at it as being based on a VF-25 design different from the anime version, which the model kit has covered. This isn't like the Macross 7 line from '94 where they decided to make the DX Fire Valkyrie for kids and emphasized everything else but accuracy, though I do realize that no matter how true this statement is, it still won't change anyone's minds who think that Bandai intentionally sabotaged their own project just to prove that they could. -
Constructive criticism is fine, companies prefer that, they just don't want fanboy rants. There is a difference.

25th Anniversary G.I. Joes, Wave II
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Mog's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In my area the newest stuff sells quickest. Wave 10 is just now starting to show up more, and revision cases are plentiful. I've only seen Torch from wave 12, and Snake Eyes in black uniform from wave 13. Those Resolute figures look awesome, I hope I find them soon. -
I think it was silly that the fragility of the shoulder hinges was overlooked. I would have rather Yamato spent the effort making them out of a very durable material, and try to avoid another inevitable(though slower) VF-0 arm fiasco. It is very obvious that Yamato can make a very durable toy, the v2 1/60 VF-1 ironically enough is a great example of it....except for the shoulder hinges. Everything else on it is durable, solid, moreso than the 1/48, even the nose panel transformation is not a PITA like everyone thought it was initially. A lot of people whine and say "oh you shouldn't be playing with your Yamatos, the 1/60 is like a model kit, bla bla bla bla". Lies. If the new 1/60 had POM shoulder hinges or a better design or better material composition, it would be the most durable VF-1 toy only 2nd to the 1/55.

Changes as in materials used. We still don't know for sure what is causing the shoulder hinge breakages. Thanks man, I appreciate it! Basically, check to see if the shoulder hinges feel the same way, on my 1/48 VF-1S, the shoulder hinges feel much more sturdy, as they are made out of POM, and there is a slight difference in color compared to the rest of the toy. With my 1/60 1S, the hinge feels the same as other parts of the toy like the wings, and are the same shade of white. The shoulders on your 1A should look a little brighter than the ABS pieces such as the wings. -

Hoping changes were made, but wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. -
I wonder if the fact that Yamato is a smaller company means that Big West charges them a higher licensing fee than other companies. Expenses add up when you have to either buy replacement parts, or replace a figure on account of broken parts, which sucks.
