Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
There is also a movie coming in summer, and I have a feeling Bandai will be making a lot of Macross products this year, especially during movie season. I can see a bundle for Alto happening, hell I'll wait for it, by then it might even have changes implemented for the better, like a shield that can store the gunhands. For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised if Ozma's heavy armor is announced during summer. Maybe the Tamashii exclusive for then SPOILER DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE SERIES! could be Alto's heavy armor w/Michel's sniper rifle(season finale homage!). -

It's not the wing itself, but the glove, or parts that house the wings, so it should be able to take the weight. -

Yes but if it is bundled, what if it doesn't come with certain things, like the stand or stickers instead of everything painted? There would still be reason to buy the stand alone armor and be happy with it. I think the list is credible, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Bandai bundles the armor eventually. Wait, what if this just means swapping the armored piece when the armor is on? If this is the case, then it's not needed to swap to transform, just if you want to have an armored 25. As in you swap the parts for the full armored look, and you would only need to swap it off if you wanted the unarmored look. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think we can. Hell Yamato made Kakizaki's DYRL 1A once, and this guy... THIS guy isn't combat relevant so much as he is goofball relevant! Kakizakis 1A in DYRL was barely even shown in the movie! Just 2 scenes. His TV 1A is shown in much more, he has the distinction of being: 1-COMPLETELY OWNED BY BRITAI. THAT SCENE RULED! 2-Trying to be a hero but having Hikaru save him in the process 3-Flying in his 1A away from his steak, on to his destiny... 4-engulfed by the heat of a reactor explosion on SDF-1. -
Newbie ANSWERS thread!

No it isn't removable. The main criticism for the new 1/60 VF-1J's battroid mode is that the neck sticks up higher than the chestplate. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand why people do not like this look. Other than that it has better proportions than the 1/48, it is sleeker, more proportionate to the anime version. The 1/48 has a huge chestplate and skinny arms, with hands the exact same size as the new 1/60. Nonetheless it has bigger legs and due to being bigger in general, is more imposing. It is also a solid toy, and people love it just as much as I love the 1/55. The 1/48 is no doubt great, but I prefer the new 1/60 to it, as it is tighter overall, more proportionate, articulated better, and the arms do not sink below the legs in fighter mode. The 1/48 has a nicer nose section since it is longer in fighter mode. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0

Most likely both, as they have been doing with every 1/60 release so far. Look forward to seeing the pics! Baka ng 1S 1st run ng only valk kailangan ng fix. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0

It's combat relevance. Same reason model kit builders prefer to build kits of planes that are "MIG-killers" or have deco relevant to the time of war/shootdown/bombing, even if it is low drab, boring, low viz, grey, visually unappealing. Modelers don't build Duke Cunninhingham's Showtime 100 F-4J because it is high viz, they build it because that is the plane he flew when he became an ace. Look at it this way, yes a high viz version of Shin's F-14B Kai from Macross Zero would look nice, but modelers would prefer to build the low viz F-14B Kai he used when he shot down some Fulcrums right before Nora shot him down. Same reason people want his VF-0D more than his 0A, his 0D was used in more memorable/combat relevant parts of the series. Anyways I'm glad Yamato shares the love of TV flavored valks. Merong kang pics? -

Could be that Bandai decided to can Ozma's super armor and just make the Heavy armor. Or plan to sell the super armor as a mass release later, only no painted trim for Ozma/Alto, just stickers so that the owner can decide who he wants the armor for. Is it easy to detach those pieces? -

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
With the Frontier movie, I think Bandai AND Yamato will be flooding shelves with Macross toys and products, the likes of which we have never seen before. Movies change everything when it comes to toys. It gives toy companies confidence to make obscure designs due to brand recognition being higher, which leads to higher sales compared to non-movie years. What we have seen in recent years(aside from the Frontier stuff) has been relatively dry compared to what we will see during the time the movie is released. Come on TV Max VF-1A! The TV Max VF-1A, Hikaru 1J, VF-1D, and maybe GPS-1 armor are the must-haves for me. Low viz VF-1D also. -

You're newer here and weren't around when Yamato kept in contact more with Graham, like when he used to have dinner with the higher ups and whatnot. Basically every time he asked about a breakage, like the Bp8 on the 1/48, or even the VF-0 arms, Yamato always responded "no reported breakages in Japan". There was also a slip that came in the 1/48 packaging that warned people about BP8. Then the website update on their site about how to correctly bend the fuselage area of the 1/60 YF-19, and a video showing how to correctly dislodge the hip bar from the nose cone on the v2 1/60 when transforming back to fighter mode. Good because Max's TV VF-1A is his most combat relevant TV valkyrie. Which one did he fly when he first fought and eventually defeated Milia? 1A. Saved Kakizaki, Misa, & Hikaru while cosplaying as a Zentraedi? 1A. Shocked and awed the rest of vermillion team during his first missions? 1A. Yes his 1J is more flashy, it is obvious that Yamato and Bandai both are guilty of choosing flash over combat relevance. Yet Yamato is catching on, they knew people wanted his 1A, and they tested the waters with their limited 1/48 release. Hoping we get a NAVY based low viz deco VF-1D. This sounds promising pare keep us updated. -

If they make it all plastic and make the hands the same as the superposeable figure's hands, I will gladly buy one, so long as it is cheaper, like the plastic MPC Voltron(which I have heard great reviews about) -

When did you get the replacement hinges? Yes but isn't the tension due to the fat end of the pin, the only thing keeping the pin in place? -

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Wait, which VF-1S do you have, was it 1st run or 2nd run, and when did you receive the replacements? Or 3-Yamato should have made it out of more durable materials that could handle the fatness of the pin. -

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hmmm, they said the same thing when you asked them about the VF-0 arm breakages a couple of years back. Same with Bp8, it's always "no reported breakages from Japan". I hope they hire more competent factory workers that can install cheap pins accurately as to not eventually dismember a $100+ toy. I am glad to hear that there haven't been many reported breakages aside the 1S Roy. Also THANK YOU GRAHAM for official confirmation! That's what I've been looking for. One of my fellow mods at ToyArk has one and has not had any breakages thus far. -

They are reliable and it only took 6 days to get my product here to the US on the east coast using EMS shipping, when I ordered something from them last month. Bear in mind this was during the holiday season, and my product was actually already in the states the day before I got it, just processing in New York. So on non holidays, they are probably quick. The price is good, that is the cheapest I have found the DX valkyries online so far, one of the only etailers that will sell it for that price and actually has it in stock. -

VF-0D, man I would love to see that. Also VF-0B w/Space Proving Wing, though I'm not sure if Yamato could use Hasegawa's paint scheme, unless it was designed by someone outside both companies.

I can't translate the text you gave earlier it is a bunch of non japanese symbols in my browser, neither katakana, kanji, or hirogana. Mid 2009 is summer, so hopefully a mass market DX bundle is surely set for release by then. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The v2 1/60 is more tighter and durable overall compared to the 1/48 except for the shoulder hinges. It's just easier to avoid breaking the BP8 on the 1/48 than it is to break the shoulder hinges on the v2 1/60. The FAST packs are much easier to attach and detach on the new 1/60 too.
