I wouldn't be surprised if they make the VF-9. This is a movie year, and Kawamori has expressed his desire for someone to make a toy of it. I don't think some tiny 1/200 scale toy will be enough for him, it certainly isn't for any of us. You have a lot of fans that still want a 1/60 VF-0D. There is already the grey cannon fodder paint job in the anime too, so bam instant repaint. Then the Super Nova YF-19 repaints that we have yet to see. 1/60 VFX-2 VF-19A and VF-11B. TV Q Rau. Glaug. A ton of other stuff. This is a movie year, and we can expect much more stuff between now and summer/fall 2010 than previous years, because a movie is coming out this summer. Brand recognition does a lot of good things for all of us, I think we will see a ton of stuff from Yamato this year.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Because they look good and there is no one else to go to, same reason why people here have collected Yamato's valkyries, until late last year, there was no one else to go to, and people were willing to overlook flaws/breakages for the sake of looking good being the only toys of their kind out there. Hot Toys' offerings tend to outdo their competitors in many ways, their sculpts are pretty damn amazing, and they are willing to tackle subjects that other companies might not try. I was surprised they went for movie Iron Man and even more surprised by how it turned out, in some shots, you can't even tell if you are looking at a movie still or the figure, and you can't say that about very many toys. -
For me it is the benefits given through the compromise of parts swapping:better articulation than the DX, cheaper price due to smaller scale, more accurate landing gear than the plamo(I honestly do not like the landing gear on the plamo much and am surprised that a lot of people wanted the DX to have those! VF100s gear for me! Not only more accurate, but looks better), et al.

If Yamato made a 1/60 VF-4 would you buy it?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Toys
To my understanding, either Bandai or Yamato could make 1/60 Flashback 2012 toys, but it all depends on who has the license. There are broad spanning toy licenses like Bandai has with Macross 7, and there are licenses based on scale per series, like how Yamato has the 1/60 TV/DYRL licenses, while Bandai has Frontier. I wouldn't be surprised if Yamato nabbed the 1/60 Flashback 2012 license to make the VF-4. The VF-4 is obscure, but it does have recognizability since it is tied to the original Macross(model shown in Hikaru's room in SDF TV series, flown by Hikaru in FB2012). Also Yamato has the TV Macross 1/60 license, so it would make sense for them to try and make the VF-4. I can see Bandai focusing more on what is going to have more widespread recognition(Frontier and any movie related Frontier toys), as well as focusing on what they already have, which has a healthy variety of designs to choose from(Macross 7). While Bandai does this, I can see Yamato going for more overlooked territory, nabbing designs that are fan favorites, but neglected. I've been fond of the VF-4 in both fighter and battroid modes. I love the Blackbird inspired fighter mode, and the battroid mode looks brutish to me. So I'd definitely pick one up. -
Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!

New Beagle pics It looks great! Can't wait to see the other ride armors! Though the Toynami MPC version will most likely be cheaper, I do prefer the head sculpts on the Japanese releases. The Tommy Yune-based sculpts are alright, but I want something closer to the original anime. -

Oh hell yea man thanks for posting that! That solves one issue I had with the toy. -
In this case Graham, it would seem that diecast is the best route. I for one, could care less about it being painted, I can deal with bare diecast so long as it finally prevents the hinge from cracking.

"I BETA TESTED your legioss!". It's like those "I BETA TESTED YOUR MOM" t-shirts.
