I think the USAF would just get F-15K's instead of thrust vectoring eagles. -

Articulation and range of motion is awesome. When I bought him, I didn't think I would find it all that exceptional; then I opened the box, and everything changed. One of the best deluxes in the line. There aren't very many Optimus Prime figures that can pose like him. Agreed. Lockdown would be much better with more range of motion for the knees and feet. I think people primarily like him because he is like Boba Fett(I guess, I can't really see any similarities aside from them both being bounty hunters). Now Shockwave is a great piece of engineering, good quad changer. Now if only the hip joints had ratchets. I love how his head retains articulation no matter which face it turns into; Shockwave or Longarm's. -

Deluxe Cybertronian Prime. Maybe Prowl....though the Samurai version might be better. -

I agree, but there wasn't a live action movie that made a ton of money for Hasbro back then. -
1/72 would be a great scale. Small, makes for more affordable toys, and it is a scale compatible with model kits, hell a TON of aircraft and support crew kits are in that scale.

That defence does not stand up to other collector targeted toys from other Japanese companies, big or small. Sure Yamato is a smaller company than some of their rivals, but they are going for the same target market, and the plastic ought to be strong enough, better, if not on par with their rivals if they want to compete. If not, their toys are little more than pre-built models that will eventually break. They've been in the industry for how long now? Surely translating complicated anime designs like the YF-21 and the SV-51(impressive engineering on that one) to perfect variable toys is much more difficult than choosing a plastic that doesn't break. That is one problem that I hope that Yamato rectifies, because they do make beautiful toys, but everyone, that goes for guys like me who play with the toys, to guys who leave them on display, hates having toys that eventually break. I don't think super glue will fix the SDF-1 if the arm falls off. Great ambition and brilliant engineering, but come on make the things out of extremely durable materials that won't erode and break down over time. Choosing durable material has absolutely nothing to do with looks and anime accuracy.

Except the shoulder hinge. Yes and documented in another thread, and overall not as prevalent as a problem as the problems indicated here. More of isolated cases. Agreed. Yamato used POM on the canards, so what's to stop them from using it elsewhere?

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

What I noticed is that the tailfins look better. If the tailfins are bigger this will bode well for a VFX-2 Ravens repaint, because the primary part that contributes to how awesome it looks is the art on the tail fins. -

Swindle. Addicting to tinker with. Great sculpt. You'll like how part of the missle launcher changes color when the missle is launcher. Transformation is neat too. Lockdown is overrated. I like how the alt mode is smaller than the bot mode, very deceptive. However articulation in the leg area is hindered and not as good as it could be. -
I've noticed that Bandai and Yamato alike LOVE making the DYRL versions of everything first. It took years to finally see a VF-1A TV Max custom. The DYRL VF-1's are almost always the first releases of any given Macross toy line. The VF-1 on top of Alto's school in Macross F is from DYRL. Exedol in Macross 7 had the DYRL character design. I think DYRL is just more popular than the TV show in Japan.

I'm worried about these toys. I really want to see more, I'd love to see the Super O, ELINT, and Strike. Never had a chance to own them as a child, and if these are reissued, I'll get my chance.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
As a fan of Yamato's original VF-11B toy 8 years ago, I would think that 8 years later they would have at least increased the size of the tailfins. That was something they tried working around but couldn't implement. As for now, the fins could be bigger. If I wanted to build something, I'd buy a model. -

This game could have been a lot better. I think it is worth buying, but overhyped. -

Small tailfins aren't line art accurate either, not that I'd care, but the VF-11 would look better with bigger tailfins. -

I never said Armada wasn't a step down. I said that from Armada and the lines afterwards, the engineering went up in complexity. Cybertron was most complex out of the trilogy, Classics built on that, the movie went further, Animated utilized it, and we saw it again improvized for Universe. -

Engineering has advanced at a surprising rate for the mainlines. I collected some of the Armada trilogy toys, went into Classics, Movie, Animated, and now, Universe. The engineering went up steadily from each line. The movie line really set the bar, the Animated line built upon it, and the Universe line utilized it. From what I've seen in the video reviews, the ROTF lines are another step up engineering-wise. Now as far as the combining Devastator, for $100 we ought to get 6 transforming vehicles that turn into individual robots and combine into a huge, stable, highly articulated gestalt. Unfortunately we are not getting that. If the trade off is a very stable and durable gestalt, good, but it is a disappointment nonetheless that the 6 vehicles cannot turn into their robot modes. -

I don't think it is. Hell I'd even want to display mine in Super fighter mode with the fins out because it looks cool to me. The large vertical stabilizers are a key aspect in the VF-11's fighter mode, very prominent. -
BEST FEET v2 1/60 VF-1. Stable, sturdy, hold position very well, and very secure due to tight ratchet connection points. No worries of looseness whatsoever. BEST Shoulder Hinge 1/48 VF-1. Doesn't break. Never heard of it breaking. Ever. BEST Canopy v2 1/60 VF-1. Freaking beautiful finish. BEST Fighter mode 1/60 YF-21. Just LOOK at it.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't care about them sticking out. I didn't think the neck/fuselage sticking above the chestplate on the v2 1.60 VF-1 was a big deal, so I can deal with tailfins sticking out of the leg of the VF-11B. -
