Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to miriya's topic in Toys
I think you just email them with a request, tell them which parts you need, and they get back to you when they get the parts from Yamato. I think you just pay the cost of shipping via paypal $8 or so. The bad thing being that recently someone here got replacement shoulders that were cracked right out of the box. I'm really, really hoping that the smaller diameter pin kills off the cracking hinge problem. Such a solid toy except for those hinges. I've analyzed the toy thoroughly, fix those hinges and you have a toy more durable than the 1/48 which itself was very durable to begin with. I can transform it with no problems, the nose hatch is a breeze to get the hip bar in and out of. -

Do you think it could be implemented in the rumored YF-23 high speed bomber? Forgot what the project designation was called, RTB or RFB or something like that. -

The right shoulder on mine has a crack, had no idea until a few days ago. Noticed that the hinges were noticeably looser, knew of the crack on the left hinge, looked at the right, found it cracked. No rough housing, no man handling, none of that. Played with yes, posed a lot yes, transformed a lot yes, messed with detrimentally? No. Not at all. Both hinges are cracked, towards the end where the burred side of the pin is. I'm afraid that if I remove the pins, sand them down, glue the hinges at the cracks, and reinsert the pin that the hinges will crack again due to tension from the pin moving. -
It's not intentional. I'm talking about the internal mechanisms, like the gears, the hinges, the parts that you don't see until you bust parts of the toy open or disassemble it. It looks simple on the outside but for all we know it could be much more complex within. That's what I'm getting at. I don't really see the point of showing all the internal stuff unless your toy breaks and you need to tell overdrive, or HLJ which exact part you need a replacement for.

Just got Masterpiece Thundercracker. While the Walmart exclusive MP Starscream was my favorite before, I have a new favorite, Thundercracker! Love the paint finish, stickers, printed details, color scheme, packaging, booklet, man this thing is presented so well! The coneheads aren't as popular but hell I'd LOVE to see them get the Masterpiece treatment! -

Oh I understand where you're coming from, and I do agree, I was just trying to explain why the designers may have added the winglets to the jet. -
There was a disappointing storyline called House of M in which Wolverine is the key to solving a bunch of stuff in it and in the process, regains all of his memories. The Origins ongoing title explores his quest to find those who screwed him over in the past and fill in the missing blanks, and....a whole bunch of retconning was involved. So you've missed out on a lot these past couple of years.

It's definitely in the $1,000's, possibly tens. Also, the more smaller parts there are, the more expensive it is to tool the mold. It's quite possible that the VF-11B has more internal mechanisms and pieces that we can't see, which contribute to the cost. It looks deceptively simple from the outside but underneath the exterior may be much more complex.

As with most animation/movie designs, they were probably added just to "look cool". -
Ed Norton Hulk was a lot like the Ultimates version, especially as Bruce Banner. Had the Hulk had more rage then that would have been close to Ultimates too. Even the copter dropping part(though in the book they through Banner out forcefully. The Avengers and their associated movies are the ones that I was implying that will follow the Ultimates route. It is one of the reasons that Mark Millar was brought on to consult during the production of the movie. I did not imply that the X-Men movies are taking after the Ultimate X-Men continuity. Yes Origins is taking after the Origin book. Stark in the movie is closer in attitude to the way he is in Ultimates as opposed to the 616 continuity where he just got owned by the government and was commonly seen as a prick during and after Civil War(I understand the reasoning for writing him that way but a lot of fans stopped liking him after Civil War). Yes he did.

It is true that Yamato is taking advantage of higher brand recognition due to Macross Frontier being on air, and a movie premiering this summer. What company wouldn't? It's common business sense, you take advantage of higher brand recognition and exposure because you have a higher chance for sales compared to a year when not a thing is on or even planned to be in theaters. The latter statement about Yamato destroying Bandai is biased and not true. No one will ever no for sure because Yamato and Bandai cannot have the license for the same product/valkyrie in the same scale. If they could, then yes we could see what Bandai could do toe to toe with Yamato with a Bandai 1/60 VF-1 VS a Yamato 1/60, or make both 1/48 and let them have at it. There are somethings that Yamato is great at, and same with Bandai. Even if Yamato, years from now gets the license for the 1/60 VF-25's and makes a toy, to say that their version destroys Bandai's is unfair because they are made years apart and undoubtedly a toy made years later typically outdoes one made years before.

Iron Man, the recent Hulk, the upcoming Thor, and Avengers movies are all highly influenced by the Ultimates universe, so the Thor you'll see onscreen will most likely not be the same way you saw him 40 years ago.

More importantly, the 1st episode is at 9PM TOMORROW on Adult Swim.com! -
That isn't a fair comparison, the 1/48 and GPS-1 have been on available for the past couple of years, and the particular versions you mentioned weren't the hottest sellers. The 1/60 VF-11B is a brand new sculpt, and possibly has more parts than meets the eye. I'm not going to argue that it's not expensive, because it is and it's one of the reasons I'm not rushing to order it. A more fair comparison would be to compare it to the 1/60 VF-1J w/FAST packs, as it is more recent, close in size, yet costs less.

Red>blue, also, we don't know for sure if Max was the first to nail an alien chick.
-
Hikaru's, main character + he ended the war.
-
One of the best scenes in the movie. Definitely the best dogfight he had onscreen. It's the sole reason most fans want his VF-1S. He was only Skull Leader for what, less than 10 minutes onscreen? Yet that scene is awesome enough to justify purchasing that valkyrie. Definitely something to purchase if you are a Max fan, in fact why else would anyone want it? It's not like it'll have a ton of resale value, it's not as recognizable as his TV VF-1J.

Where?
-
Feel the same way bro 1/55 still has my vote(yeah yeah I'm in the minority but I love the way that thing looks) but this is one of the finest Yamato VF-1 variants made.
-
Is this a joke?
-
Any more info on that?
-
That's a good explanation but wasn't obvious to me. That does explain the scenario though.
-
Yeah it's weird, one would think that the samples reviewed would get breakages, not the final production versions, but the VF-1S Roy that he has is still in one piece, but the final production pieces that I, you, and others got have broken hinges and not due to rough handling.

That's it, I'm waiting until the hinges are fixed for sure before going for replacement parts. The whole point of replacement parts is to rectify being Yamatoed, not for it to happen again.
