Yamato & Bandai Macross compared with MP Seekers
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to kurdt_the_goat's topic in Toys
The hinges that have to be folded 180 or so? I heard the runs after the first MP-03, such as Skywarp and Thundercracker had some modifications done so that the problem areas wouldn't be as prone to snapping. My Walmart Screamer and MP Thundercracker haven't cracked. I heard to go further and prevent cracking altogether, you could cut some of the plastic away from the hinges, this reduces tension when folding the back/wing panels up. I'll do this in the future but for now there aren't any breakages on mine. -

And Yamato will? I hope they do but years ago they told Graham that they probably wouldn't. Maybe if the licensing dispute was actually, well, ya know, FINISHED over here and they could cater to us, yet even so, are we enough of an audience to even cater to for such an obscure design? Again I hope we will see a PT 1/60 VF-2SS and even a VF-2JA(come on I can't be the only guy that liked the design) as well as a Metal Siren, however I think it's unlikely. Most of it depends on how well received the Macross II mecha designs are in Japan. Are they popular in Japan? I'm talking aside from Kawamori. Do fans want toys of those? Maybe but I wouldn't know.

25th Anniversary G.I. Joes, Wave II

In the Marvel comics, which is the dominant influence of any other out of continuity G.I. Joe series afterwards, Storm Shadow only joined Cobra to find out who killed his uncle. -
Double Nuts="00", in numerical designation for Navy aircraft, any plane with double nuts is usually the CAG(Carrier Air Group) commander aircraft, typically in high viz. For example if you saw 2 Jolly Rogers aircraft, 1 with "113" as designation, it's most likely a low viz plane, but "100" would be high viz, with the CO's craft, "101" having high viz but not as much as the "100" aircraft.

No, members here called it once they saw the YF-19 hasegawa kits painted in Super Nova schemes in the hobby mags years back. Kawamori says "Brown/tan what? No, no, it really is grey..yes grey.." I'm all for a canon Blazer Valkyrie so long as it does not have the weak points of the YF-19(breakage areas, if it is retooled to be more durable then HELL YEA!).

Yamato & Bandai Macross compared with MP Seekers
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to kurdt_the_goat's topic in Toys
Just with the hips. The arms move just fine. Beautiful toys, have a gloss coat so it looks very polished, a great looking display piece and can be played with. I was surprised at how durable the MP Seekers were(I heard the 1st grey Starscream was fragile, but I have the US cartoon color version, and MP Thundercracker, and they are very sturdy). Transformation seems a bit more complicated than a bandai, and easy if you are used to Yamato valks. You'll have a harder time transforming the v2 1/60 VF-1, and to be honest, that toy is not hard to transform at all. As far as accuracy, Yamato is most accurate, with the MP Seekers and Tamashii DX's not as accurate. Kawamori designed both and it shows(short landing gear that isn't as detailed, liberties taken compared to the animation design/lineart/whatever-the-hell-people-use-to-complain-about-but-still-buy. -
25th Anniversary G.I. Joes, Wave II

I don't like how he is actually evil this time around. I realize this is not in the same continuity as all of the other joe stuff, hell the closest thing to it is G.I. Joe Origins, and even that is different from this, but Storm Shadow, was never actually evil(to be honest the closest Storm Shadow to Resolute Storm Shadow in comparison would be the one from TF VS G.I. Joe Vol. 1 by Dreamwave and even then, he was a noble character). In the Marvel run he wasn't perfect, he had flaws and had a justified reason to bear a grudge against Snake Eyes, which is close to what we saw in ep. 5, however for him to actually have a hand in intentionally killing the man we can presume is Hard Master, that's a bit much for me. I can see what he was trying to accomplish, maybe he actually does have a noble intent to continue the Arashikage clan(and a willingness to take it to extremes as we've seen), but it seems like there is no turning back for him. I just hope Warren Ellis did not write Storm Shadow in to be killed off in the finale. Despite my criticisms, I've enjoyed each episode a great deal. -

I like how the shoulders on the 1/48 have a seperate joint from the ball joint to pivot to the side. The new 1/60 has the pivoting articulation and all shoulder rotation done from one ball joint. On the 1/48, it's easier to move the arms due to the dedicated pivot joints. I also prefer the way the nose hatch works on the 1/48.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If it looked good AND was very durable it would be a toy I'd like to buy eventually. Yamato has shown that they can do both, it's just in some cases, you usually get one over the other(for example the new 1/60 VF-1 is very very pleasant to look at, and very durable, but has the hinge problem. The YF-21 and Nora SV-51 look phenomenal and managed to be released with very few breakage reports). So they can certainly make something accurate and very durable(let's not forget the 1/48), the question is, why do they overlook durability at times? I don't prefer looks over durability, when I know Yamato has proven that they can do both with the complex 21 and 51. That's perfectly understandable, it's just that no one, including fans who leave stuff on dispay or guys like me who pay with the toys(not manhandling or being rough with them), likes seeing a toy break especially when every other part on the toy is durable. I understand wanting to have a consistent flow of new product to shelves and sticking to schedule, but I would not mind waiting until all the problems were fixed. It's not like Yamato is a company that makes you wait more than 2 years for a toy only to see it constantly delayed and ultimately disappointing. Anyways I look forward to the Armored Messiah in June. I am very excited for that, and still hold hope that a Alto Super Messiah is eventually released as a bundle with added fixes, such as armor that fits better. -
Considering that the Angel Birds is still readily available in 1/48 and not really flying off shelves... I can see Yamato waiting to release an Angel Birds a while from now, I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. I could be wrong. Agreed. I do hate paying $100+(shipping included) every time I want one; I'm aware there is many external factors involved however, such as the cost of petroleum, the financial crisis, rising cost of labor in China, et, al.

The neck says otherwise, not that I care. I had a crack on the left and found one on the right recently! Glad to hear about the D, however I feel that the crackers will occur eventually, there have been more reports recently of cracks on 1A's, and while it's still a handful of people, we went without reports of hinge cracking on the 1A for months.

Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to miriya's topic in Toys
No idea, I don't have it. -
Yes but it's already known that Bandai was not going for anime accuracy with the 1/60 VF-25. Had their intentions been different, we would have seen otherwise, and that's the only way we'd know if Yamato would outdo them for sure; if both decided that they wanted to make the most accurate VF-25 toy in the market. Also, I'm starting to notice that any toy Kawamori designs typically has accuracy taking the backburner, and usually turn out to be toyetic in some respect. Examples including the THS-02 Hybrid Convoy, MP Seekers, and DX VF-25's. Not a problem to me, just thought I'd bring it up because it might explain how the toys turn out they way they do.
-
Most likely, I would say later this year or early next year. Yamato typically reissues products a while after the 1st runs saturate and are sold. Reissues are also in response to demand, for example the 1/48 VF-1S Roy Custom was released more than twice. Most likely.

Transformers Super Thread 8

Also I love the presentation! The box is awesome, booklet is classy, the toy has a gloss coat and I love it. I have the US MP Starscream and Thundercracker looks more polished, more refined, with all those printed details and the gloss coat. I do prefer how the US MP Starscream had the stripes painted on though, that was cool. I wish the toy was molded in light grey instead of white, a darker red, and had a darker blue, and was gloss coated along with the printed roundels and "warning" markings. -
Good, they can take all the time they want or need, it will be worth the wait and it gives guys like us time to save up. I LOVE the v2 1/60 design and if the hinges are fixed, in my opinion it will be the best modern VF-1 toy.

25th Anniversary G.I. Joes, Wave II

Someone thought Barack Obama but others are thinking it's Hard Ball, that's who I thought it was. You won't see none of that in Resolute. Movie, comic, ARAH, and Resolute continuity are all different. The one G.I. Joe media that Resolute shares the most with is surprisingly the G.I. Joe Origins comic book, a series that is still going by IDW. -
I don't notice hate. The 1/48 is still revered. The new 1/60 is superior in many ways, but not in every way; despite that, that doesn't make the 1/48 a bad toy at all. It's still quite good. It is a trade off in a way. The new 1/60 is less durable solely because of the shoulder hinges, and these hinges are not a problem on the 1/48, yet the bp8 which is a potential issue on the 1/48 is not an issue on the 1/60 and has not broken as much as the 1/60's hinges. The 1/48 remains the biggest, and most detailed valkyrie toy on the market, and until the new 1/60 gets fixed shoulders, the 1/48 is the most durable modern day VF-1 toy. It arguably has the best fighter mode due to the longer nose and I love how the wings have detents. The arms on the 1/48 hang past the legs in fighter mode, and are skinny in battroid mode. The 1/60 lacks wing detents and the nose is not as long(nose didn't bother me though). Also the 1/48 has flaps and removable randome and has a radar. There are somethings that as fans, we could do without and the new 1/60 addresses that. The 1/48 also has more accurate neck placement. The 1/48 is no slouch, it looks great, and can be played with. The most annoying things for me were the rubber seepage from the hips and the shoulders on mine becoming loose enough that they cannot hold the gun high with one arm. I'm certain this can be fixed. It's still a popular valkyrie, every now and then etailers get some more in. Even if and when the 1/60 shoulder hinges are fixed, I think it will still be a while before it steps out of the shadow of the 1/48. The 1/48, for the longest time, and arguably even now, is Yamato's most revered VF-1 design.

You have to make sure the swing bar is at an angle, if it is parallel to the back, the hip bar will be difficult to take out. Pull on the back section so that it will angle the swing bar, then swing both hips forward simultaneously. This should pop out the bar.
