Really? I didn't know that. Thanks for the update I always thought those vents were on B/D's. I think the Kawai Toys Black Knights CAG is still a go, maybe around the same time frame as the mass market, VF-84 release(still no word on if its high viz or low, but I think it is high viz, instant high-seller right there). Really itching for a high viz, 70's CAG VF-1 Wolfpack version. They are still working on the Skyraider, the Phantom can be made if they want to(prototype and CAD designs still intact). Their latest announcement is a 1/18 scale Mosquito fighter bomber. passenger seat in the car

1/55 FTW! One of the best VF-1 toys ever made.

Yes. The next time we hear something more concrete may be at SDCC. -

They might be smaller than we think. According to one of the movie guide books, the missles on his arms aren't AMRAAMs or Sidewinders, they are smaller missles. I liken Leader Starscream to how different ROTF voyager prime is to Leader Prime. Hasbro knows that most fans hated the kibble and huge undercarriage of the TF1 Starscream mold. They addressed it on the ROTF voyager but they also know that the ROTF voyager also has inefficiencies. By how leader Starscream was described, it doesn't even seem finished yet. So being that it was designed much later than the voyager, I think it will turn out pretty good. I think the mech alive gimmick will have something to do with his missle launchers opening up from his forearms, and his chest panels moving. -

Wingblade Optimus, the upcoming Prime that uses the deluxe mold from the Battle Begins 2 pack with new parts to make the trailer, also has a nice bonus feature. The parts that form his trailer, wings and jetpack component, can be used on the existing voyager Prime figure. -

I unfortunately am not present at Botcon, but here is what Sol Fury from TFW2005 reported: Since it IS a mainline transformer, I wouldn't expect it to be as realistic as the Masterpiece/Alternator/Binaltech releases, but a significant step above the current voyager Starscream from ROTF(which in itself is a huge step above the TF1 version). -

That's Japan. In the US it's $100. They are waiting for a retailer to bite. If one, be it Target, Walmart, or TRU jumps soon, then we'll get it within that time span, most likely less. The plan is to have it out in stores once a retailer jumps onboard for it. Well for accuracy, then no transforming Transformer from the movie line will ever be show accurate, because ILM themselves have admitted that their CGI models cheat transformation. Also, comparing a collector's item aimed primarily at adults by Yamato to a TF movie toy meant to endure the handling of children, yet aimed at children primarily isn't a fair comparison at all. Word from China a few weeks back says it's Starscream. Fall of this year sounds more likely. Makes sense for case transitions. Eventually Jetfire and Megatron will ship in the same case, as Megatron is discontinued, it makes sense for Starscream to take his place in the case. I wish automorph was retained alongside mech alive. Mech alive in my opinion, works best on Starscream. On other figures, it doesn't do much. Automorph was one of my favorite gimmicks. -

They can be pushed in closer, there are 2-3 folding joints at that area for transformation that can be folded in more. It looks better in person. -
Actually, for Animated, all of the cancelled figures, like Wingblade Prime, Golfire Grimlock, Arcee, Electrostatic Soundwave, and others, are still set for release. Hasbro doesn't know when or where, but we will see them. Wingblade Prime uses the mold from the Battle Begins 2 pack, has wings and hammer that form a big trailer. The wingblade configuration is from the series finale.

Would buy one if it remained perfect variable, killed off the thick gullet, had a sleeker fighter mode, and thicker, anime-accurate battroid mode. People say "oh that's not possible bla bla", well no one expected the 1/48 after seeing the v1 1/60 VF-1. No one thought Yamato would take a stab at the YF-21 in 1/60 after the 1/72 FP version. Yamato has shown that they can make huge advancements in a relatively short time. So yes I think they can make a much better YF-19 toy and if it had the improvements I mentioned, I'd buy it. Of the 3 Macross Plus releases in 1/60 scale, it's the only one I don't want currently(though the anime design is my favorite of the 3).

Silversmith that custom rocks man, great job! -
I think they will. If they can release some of the most obscure TV variants, popular valks of the 2 core cast members are inevitable in my opinion.
-
I think they will eventually, they are probably hesitant to release them at the moment because the 1/48 versions are still readily available and aren't exactly flying off shelves on clearance. I think we will see them before or during Winter. It looks like their goal is to release all TV versions by the end of this year. Also...are the tail fins actually smaller on this version?
-
I'd rather have Yamato improvise those small pegs that fill in the holes on the side in fighter/gerwalk mode, and connect them as a bar instead of having them as separate pieces. Like on the VF-0. Getting the hip bar out of the nose hatch is not hard at all, though I do wonder why the 1/48 mechanism wasn't utilized to begin with.

I would get these 2 from either HLJ or Angolz where they are both cheaper. HLJ had Max for $120 and Milia for $90, while Angolz had them at $97. I think Yamato will launch Max and Milia in the v2 series later this year. It's inevitable in my opinion, as the VF-1J and TV FAST packs have already been tooled up, both are popular characters and easy money makers compared to the other TV releases for this year. It depends on where you buy them from. Some stores still sell specific 1/48's at cost. Only the shelfwarmers are being clearanced off, Hikaru and Roy's valks tend to sell well enough on their own with enough to demand to sustain the msrp. I prefer the v2 1/60 because it feels more solid and constructed better(pre-Max shoulder hinges aside). It is the most toyetic VF-1 toy that Yamato has made to date, yet retains a lot of detail, and surpasses the 1/48 in some aspects. The 1/48 remains the most detailed VF-1 to date, but the v2 in my opinion, is better to fiddle with. Both are very durable toys(aside the v2 shoulder hinges).

It's the most unique leader figure, the size, as you mentioned, is gigantic, I like the Blackbird, and he combines with Prime. From the ROTF comic adaptation, he's not a bad character, definitely old; a likeable character to me. So I want to buy this figure too. Now I wonder just how big leader Starscream will be.....I have a feeling that voyager Starscream might be more in scale with Jetfire than the leader version. -
Who said they can't? I would not be surprised at all if Yamato released that version eventually. Hell the VF-1J cannon fodder is being released, and it seems like Yamato intends to release every VF-1 seen from the TV series. Would not be surprised if we saw the Alaska base versions either. I for one think it's about time Roy's VF-1 was molded in dark grey. To me, it looks better that way. Accentuates the fact that he is a gritty, somewhat vulgar squadron leader compared to Hikaru's traditional "hero color" VF-1J.

It's because over time, the cracks widen, and eventually the entire arm will fall off. The crack on the left shoulder hinge of my Roy 1S had a crack that was wider than the right, and before, the crack was fairly small. This is from a company who managed to release 2 exponentially more complex designs(SV-51 Nora/YF-21) with relatively qc problem-free production runs. What I couldn't comprehend was how the hinges were overlooked at the factory prior to release. Yes if you catch it in time, if, then yes you can get the super glue in there and possibly prevent breakages*crossing fingers*. However this shouldn't have happened in the first place. For a toy so solid in other areas, even more solid than the already durable 1/48 it puzzles me why just the hinges are a weak link on the toy.
