Well for me, I appreciate nostalgia but articulation is a big thing for me, like the 1/55 has a lot, but G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron don't, for example.

The best VF-1 Valk toys I ever played with are the 1/55 and Yamato V2 1/60. I enjoy both and the 1/55 is still great to me, even today. It's weird though, a lot of my fellow Transformers fans love G1 but for me, I don't really collect the vintage G1 toys but love me some vintage Macross toys and the new stuff too. IMHO 1/55 is the best of vintage, V2 1/60 VF-1 is the best of now(shoulder issues aside). I had buyers remorse with my DX VF-25S. Hell if it was SIMPLER like the 1/55, as in less leg articulation but ratcheted joints all over the damn place, the irony is that I would actually like it more. What does the 1/55 have over the DX VF-25? Shoulders and upper leg joints that are not prone to looseness due to ratchets, hands with no ball wrist which results with no limping; hell it even has longer landing gear and more resistance to paint scratch! See the 1/55 still trumps modern valk toys in certain categories. Chances I think are slim, but if Bandai were to make a "retro" VF-25 made like the 1/55 VF-1, I would be happy.

No, they don't. The wings offered with the VF HI METAL VF-1 are as follows: Wings with pylon ports to plug in the missle pylons Wings sans pylon ports for a clean look(the pegs stick out) Apparently shorter wings for battroid mode to match the animation

I actually did check your reviews before posting the questions here, haha. Can the swappable hand used for the synchro cannon on the right arm of the Dark Legioss retract int the forearm like the regular hands, or is it too big? The reason I ask, is because if I get one, I'd like to just keep that "gun hand" on at all times rather than having to swap it every time I want to pose the Legioss in Armo Soldier/Diver modes. For that matter, can the regular hands that it comes with hold the regular Legioss gun with no problem?

The amount of parts on this thing is the reason why it is so expensive too...well more like internal parts. Compared to Toynami's 1/100 VF-1, the VF HI METAL VF-1 has exponentially more parts needed and tooled for the mold. Never thought about shorter battroid wings..I knew the wings were swappable for a clean pylon port-less look, but not for battroid. That's pretty cool. I just hope that if Tamashii makes a stand, it has spots to store all of the swappable gear of this toy.

Any links to where I can buy the upgrade set? I looked on Ebay but only found regular Legioss/Tread sets. A lot of the etailers never got the upgraded set in. Thanks for the reply on the Dark Legioss too, I might pick it up. Does the synchro cannon have pegs that plug into the shoulders in fighter mode?

Hey guys, do any of you have the Dark Legioss from CM's? If so, can it hold it's synchro cannon without it dropping if you move the figure? My red Legioss cannot hold it's gun well at all, it WILL fall out if I even budge it. For that matter, does anyone know of after-market manipulator sets with fixed hands that can be swapped out for the CM's Legioss?

That looks way better than the Armada version; makes it look even more kiddified(not to say it's a bad toy, it's the best one in the Armada line).

Looks great so far, would not be surprised if this ended up being a better toy than the DX VF-25. I hope Tamashii takes on the VF-1 next in SDX, wouldn't mind a Blazer and Fire Valk too...the latter 2 would lend themselves well to SD style, especially the Fire Valky.

Eh, I wish the landing gear were integrated and retractable to begin with, I wouldn't care if they looked simplistic.

This thread has been helpful, I think I will use the money that I was contemplating on using for the Double Nuts on the YF-21 reissue or VF-22S Gamlin instead.
