  1. One thing that never fails to impress me about Yamato is that engineering-wise, they accelerate at an extremely fast rate. I got my reissue VF-0's last month and they feel so dated compared to the V2 1/60 VF-1 and VF-11. There are other comparisons we can make, but the point is, Yamato advances rather quick when it comes to design and ingenuity. The jump from V1 1/60 VF-1 to V2 1/60 VF-1 was immense to say the least. 2012 is less than 2 years away, and the 30th anniversary of Macross. Macross Plus is arguably the most well received series(yeah I know it's an OVA+movie) of Macross, and arguably has the most critical acclaim of any Macross series. The 1/60 YF-19 design is dated especially compared to the YF-21 and VF-11. We've seen what Yamato can do with a YF-19 inspired design, in the upcoming Fire Valkyrie. It's a move from the EVA-esque battroid modes of perfect variable YF/VF-19 toys prior. Gullet looks sleeker. Battroid is chunky as it should be. Yamato has done an impressive job on the VF-19 Kai... So do you want to see a V2 1/60 YF-19?* *This is taking into account that yes the only things that the YF-19 and later VF-19's(onscreen except for the VF-19A) share is a similar silhouette. At this point Yamato has 2 years to work on a new YF-19 for the 30th anniversary of Macross unless they have already started...which considering their earlier works, may be possible...*
  2. Doubt it, Yamato abandoned parts-formers with the V1 1/60 VF-1. After the 1/48 there was no turning back.
  3. The chunky look of this thing has me hoping that there are ratchets all over it. Yamato's latest toys(aside shoulder hinges on the V2 1/60 VF-1), have been fairly sturdy and the Fire Valk looks quite good. Ratchets>ball joints IMHO!
  4. Gullet looks more slender to me, doesn't look like it sticks out as noticeably.
  5. I think "Little Rock" is actually the name for the missles in question. As for rotating cockpit....cool...not necessary to me but cool nonetheless, I hope this time around no parts of the cockpit..like the instrument panels are prone to breaking off like on the VF-0's(the one on my 0S broke). Anyone notice that the gullet looks sleeker and not as fat as the 1/60 YF-19? I dunno, the fighter mode to me in that CAD promo ad looks good, which means the BLAZER will look even BETTER! Would not mind a 19P either, dig the head design. Did Basara's VF-19P in Dynamite 7 have the speaker pod, or regular gunpod? Also, anyone think the Fire Valk's mouthplate will be swappable?
  6. I hope that the story is good on PRIME. WFC is the prequel...and honestly, up until Thursday I thought WFC was a prequel to G1. Some of the Animated design team, like Siebenaler(and I think Kubalsky) are working on PRIME(Siebenaler mentioned working on the Optimus figure for this series). Maybe his design for the toy may win me over.
  7. The artwork of the fighter mode in that promo looks sleeker from the underside than the 1/60 YF-19, so I have hope. I WANT TO SEE THE BLAZER
  8. To this day the 1/55 VF-1 is still my favorite VF-1 toy design. Followed by the V2 1/60 VF-1 by Yamato.
  9. Siebenaler can work wonders...I'm eager to see what he does with the Optimus Prime figure..I'm not a fan of the Prime Prime design just yet, but Siebenaler is a genius.
  10. It's blue, I was surprised to find out too. As for Prime....yeah...going to take a while for that design to grow on me...if it does at all.
  11. It was left open but by all indications it's done. Years from now, even if it were to be revisited it might not even have the same creative team.
  12. I haven't posted in this thread for a while. Is the VF-19S the best of the VF-19 variants? The larger moment arm and ankle vernier ring were mentioned a while back, and from the discussion, it seemed that though the 19S was made for enhanced performance in space, it was no slouch at all in the atmosphere, unlike other space-superiority fighters like the VF-4 and others(14?). Also, given that both the S models for the 19 and 22 were produced in limited quantities, which one is the better fighter? I always wondered why Max took a 22s in Operation Stargazer instead of an Excalibur variant.
  13. Resolute is done man. The only things we have left are the DVD and the 7 packs.
  14. That Prime statue looks too skinny IMHO
  15. No clue man, good question.
  16. Transformers PRIME Teaser Trailer Transformers PRIME Panel SDCC 2010 Roundup Looks like a mix of Animated and Bay-verse
  17. GI Joe Renegades Teaser Trailer SDCC 2010
  18. It will be interesting if the Super Bug will eventually get EOTS. Wonder which will be the more effective striker afterwards, future block Super Bug, or the F-35C? It's the battle of jack of all trades fighters.
  19. Not-Silverbolt is very very disappointing. The bot mode...yeah it doesn't tab in well at all. Not secure. Cool jet mode and gerwalk mode. I actually found combined modes to be fun but I didn't really go by the box. My Smolder w/Combaticons and even Bombshock with Combaticons looks nothing like what Hasbro displayed on the box. I made Bombshock look more like ROTF Mixmaster. The Aerialbots are more fun with Huffer and Searchlight. I like using the minicons as Breastmasters on the combined bots but unfortunately, you can't use them like that on the team leaders. The solo scouts are better team leader components. I like how Hasbro looks at these Combaticons/Aerialbots as just part of an armada, as opposed to replacing the originals. They aren't true successors for sure, I look at them more like scout figures that can attain extra armor.
  20. Interesting, the Super Bug w/CFT's looks cool. Not as bloated as the F-16E/Block 60's. Wouldn't be surprised if Boeing ends up getting rid of the pod in later blocks and just makes CFT's on the sides of the fuselage, with internal weapons.
  21. JSI F-14A Black Knights Bombcat SDCC 2010 Exclusive I wonder how well this one is going to sell. Not a fan of the lighting at all. RED TCS does not make sense. Would have preferred if the lighting were relegated to the stabilizers and wings, maybe the nose for the 2 lines under the modex numbers. Light up engines on an expensive adult collector's Tomcat is akin to a wired remote control Tomcat made for children. I dig the lack of spots and the new weapons and associated pylons.
  22. Peg and BLeg play chess together in the IDW books too...at least I think that was chess.
  23. Hey Graham it isn't necessary to swap the head lasers for transformation is it? I'm not a big fan of parts swapping. If I get any VF HI METAL 19, I might not even use the additional leg panels and might just keep the hands on at all times.
  24. Damn Tamashii is either waiting for Wonderfest next week or the Tamashii festival in August.
  25. From what was stated on the blog, I think the reissue is more accurate.
