I'd have to disagree man, I used to think the VF-11 was the same size as the VF-1 toy also, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't. In person, the VF-11 is actually significantly bigger and taller all around. Not to mention the engineering is ridiculous in a good way. It incorporates a lot of advancements that surprised me upon the initial transformation. Not to mention, there are several internal parts that are not visible unless you open the toy up, and the higher the amount of smaller parts to tool=higher price. Engineering-wise it's on par if not a bit more advanced than the V2 1/60 VF-1, which IMHO, shoulder-issues aside, was a turning point for Yamato, as the V2 1/60 VF-1 is a more toyetic release(compared to previous Yamato toys) without compromising detail. Toy-wise, VF-0 feels dated, V2 1/60 VF-1 is "just right", while VF-11 goes beyond.

General Dynamics. Just thinking maybe it would be better than the Tomcat in ACM..just speculating based on looks. Couldn't find any data based on the wind tunnel testing for AOA limits at low speeds, handling, wing loading, et al. -

The Lockheed/Boeing one went as far as wind tunnel testing with scale models. Lockheed/Boeing, the one that had a short nose, swing wings, and was derived from NATF. -

Yep to negate all aspect seekers. A/F-X grew out of the ATA and NATF cancellations. With no true Tomcat replacement, and no A-6 replacement, the Navy needed something and decided to go for a stealthy A-6 replacement with fighter capability. Whereas NATF put emphasis on fighter with strike/attack 2nd, the A/F-X was the other way around. Plans were to incorporate the AIM-152 as a Phoenix replacement too. The A/F-X was also proposed as an F-111/117 replacement. Design-wise, it pretty much grew out of the NATF. -

So I thought of a VS topic... A/F-X VS F-14D knife fight: AIM-9P No HMS for A/F-X Both variables thrown in to make the fight on even terms, weapon-wise. -

Agreed, more Decepticon planes are not bad at all. I wonder how the toy for Starscream will turn out. I've noticed that it's yet another Lockheed-based alt mode within recent years: TF Prime Starscream - F-16 based ROTF Breakaway/Thrust - JSF F-35B based HFTD Highbrow - P-38 based Movie Starscream - F-22 Movie Jetfire - SR-71 ROTF Mindwipe - F-117 based Bulkhead looks great in robot mode, admittedly in alt mode I thought he was Hound at 1st. Interestingly enough, I think Animated Bulkhead was originally intended to be Hound. *head explodes* Cliffjumper looks awesome. Soundwave...eh..... Indirectly, Siebenaler mentioned at Botcon that he was working on Optimus, and I think Bulkhead. Decepticon drone. Optimus would look way better if they went with the Animated proportions further, going with big lower legs that get progressively bigger towards the feet. Instead, we get something akin to the Bruce Timm style/Incredibles, which makes the robot design look unbalanced. They made the alt mode look like movie 1 but better..which I think is cool. Don't like how the head intentionally peeks through in alt mode though. -
I'm surprised the RX-78 beat the Zaku II. The Zaku was more memorable and sinister IMHO. That mono-eye man!

Like: Starscream's alt mode, Megatron that does not look like aluminum foil in robot mode, buckethead on Megatron, and Bulkhead+Ratchet. Dislike: Starscream and Soundwave's robot modes. Transformers PRIME Update From HUBWorld -

The only person I can see Maggie Q playing without any fan-rants is Yuri Sazaki. Otherwise, her as Mai Shiranui is like trying to get Jubilee to model as a double for Psylocke. -
How to tell if its version 1 or version 2 and so on?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to iTEN's topic in Toys
V1 has square panels on the side of the nose FLIR sensors, because of the removable plug-in piece. On the V2 1/60, this piece is done away with and you will see circles on the sides of the FLIR sensors instead. From above the V1 has a more narrow nose/randome. The V1 also has more noticeable screw covers. Most of the V1 1/60 VF-1's came in black boxes sans flap. Actually most of the V2's had flaps until the TV Focker was released IIRC. Yes. -

1/48 MS-06S Char Zaku II! Okay now I have more incentive to pick up the 1/48 Gundam. Saw the Gundam in person this past summer, looked pretty cool, and I heard it is pretty rugged. Hope we get a green Zaku too.- 8437 replies

Ace Combat Joint Assault
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think I used the Typhoon to kill his a55 the 1st time on normal. I think I had to use the trick I mentioned above: After his 1st speech, keep hitting him until his radar blip turns to red, and he starts another speech After he says "Now Antares, give me everything you got!", ONLY use your missles to trick him into barrel rolling into your path of bullets. I think the gun is the only way you can kill him off after his last speech. I just know that once you get his damage down so that his radar blip turns red, he will start barrel rolling whenever you fire a missle at him, this is either slightly before, or directly after his last speech. The unfortunate thing is that what the fight at that point almost always turns into a vertical rolling scissors with him volleying QAAM's head on at close range. A plane with extremely high stability is best at this point, and one that can accelerate fast as hell too. On hard mode...with my Strike Eagle tuned extremely fast with very high stability, Sulejmani is still a PITA to kill. I might save up for the Falken and buy the laser to just snipe his a55. Being that planes cost a ton, it's going to be a while before I can do this.... For the missle trick, if he is to my right, once I lock on, I fire missles, and simultaneously start firing guns and holding the gun button down. He usually barrel rolls left into the path of my bullets, If he is to my left, I fire and he usually barrel rolls to the right. It's best to somewhat position him off-point so that you can trick him into barrel rolling right in front of you. In this respect, this is a MUCH harder last part than the one mission in Ace Combat 2 where you have to down a cruise missle using guns only. Phase 3 of 21A is EXTREMELY easy, you only have time for 1 pass, so make sure you don't get confused by the buildings. I found the music to be quite epic at times. Definitely reminds me of Ace Combat 5 with some influence from Ace Combat 2. It seems like a goodbye from the series on PSP on a good note. The music is definitely better than that of Ace Combat 6. David, you may or may not like the 5th F-14D scheme in the game. It's a red tail Super Tomcat. Red randome, red horizontal and vertical stabs, I think black trim on the tips of the vert stabs, and red trim around the cockpit except for overdoing the anti-glare part(it almost looks like they decided to color in the area where NASA implemented canards on the spin test F-14A). Flaps are white. It's basically like a combo of the red tail 1995 Grim Reapers F-14B with the factory deco of the 70's Tomcats. What I don't like is that when you arm Sparrows/SAHM's, they are mounted on the Phoenix pallets. WTF? Also, to unlock the weapons per plane, you can only do so by using the plane(yep, say you beat the game and only used the F-5E...the only weapons you would have unlocked would be for the F-5E, nothing else), and the SP weapons are unlocked in order. So the XLAA is the last weapon IIRC for the Tomcat, and I still haven't unlocked it. -
How long did it take to get to you from the day they sent shipping confirmation?

We thought that was the case initially but that only aids in alleviating stress on the hinge which may crack later on even if you do lift the hinge up gently over the locking tab. On my Focker 1S 2008 release I would gently lift the hinge up and even loosened the shoulders. Months later found cracks after not transforming for a while. The factories' switch to un-knurled pins seems to have fixed the problem, as all the Max releases had no knurled shoulder pins and we have not come across 1 reported breakage of those, and they have been out for quite a while now.

Armor Plus: Figure w/removable armor, like Alto's EX Suit. DX: Covers Macross Quarter, and 1/60 VF-25 and VF-27. Perfect transformation, some diecast content. VF100's: 1/100 parts-swapping line; only had VF-25's. Robot Damashii SIDE VF: Non-transformable VF-25's, + Q Rea figures. Highly articulated. Robot Damashii SIDE VF DX Konig Monster: Transforming Konig Monster in Ranka and Sheryl Nome versions VF HI METAL: Transforming 1/100 line replacing VF100's; minimal parts swapping, focus on high articulation/range of motion, and some diecast content Origin of Valkyrie: 1/55 reissues of the classic VF-1 toy by Takatoku * *Anytime "gokin" is refernced or listed, it denotes diecast content irregardless of how minimal it may actually be Wait....I was referring to FLEX(Nishikawa san)...the guy primarily responsible for the 1/48 VF-1 by Yamato...is there another FREX that was originally part of TREX or the other way around? I'm guessing TREX came onboard for the V2 1/60 VF-1. IIRC: 1/72 Macross Plus: Billy Wong(FLEX redesigned parts for the YF-21+Fast Packs set IIRC) V1 1/60 VF-1: Billy Wong with assistance by FLEX 1/48 VF-1: FLEX 1/60 YF-19: SOLID with some design by FLEX 1/60 VF-0: SOLID? V2 1/60 VF-1: SOLID + TREX Maybe he meant the VF100's...but then again, the only Armored version was Alto's 25F.

That's not them though, that's Takatoku. The only VF-1 toys completely made by Bandai are the VF HI METAL, HCM, maybe the Joke Machines, and possibly the Strike armor for the VF-1S 1/55, as well as the parts for the VT/VE-1's.

Ugh...I got PISSED trying to beat the last mission on hard. I had the LAGM with the F-16C, so taking out the ships was easy, but the $%^&*$%^ing VARCOLAC Squadron? Man $%^&* those guys! ALL OF THEM! Especially Sulejmani! Phase 2 of the mission is taking out the SOB's from Varcolac Sqn. Each of these $%^holes flies an ugly plane that has stability reminiscent of the S-32 in AC5. It's RIDICULOUS, and they also have QAAM's. Anyways, you take out 3, you can't hit Sulejmani unless the other 3 are taken out 1st, this douchebag has a machinegun mounted to the spine of his aircraft a la YF-19. DICK. Anyways he goes on for a speech, let him finish, then keep firing at him. When his radar blip turns red(low energy), he says another speech, then proceeds to pull Cobra's each time you turn with him, and vault off a QAAM head on. Go at him with guns. If you fire a missle at him after his 2nd speech, he does barrel rolls so he doesn't get hit. The way to get him is to continue using the gun. Unfortunately, my best planes are my Super Tomcat, Typhoon, and Strike Eagle, along with the Flanker, due to the way I tuned them. My fastest are the Flanker and Strike Eagle with the Typoon and Flanker being close in stability. You need a plane with lots of stability for this mission. A way to trick Sulejmani at this point, is to fire a missle and since he will dodge it, fire your guns after you launch your missle. He may inadvertently barrel roll into the path of your bullets. Anyways on hard mode, this SOB was a cheap mot%^&*(er so I after a few hours, I gave up and just beat the mission on easy(you can choose difficulty per mission). Maybe if I have one of the super planes or YF-23 it will be easier to take him out but funds in-game accumulate at a slow/low rate. Still a very enjoyable game, feels more like Ace Combat than 6 did. It's definitely a big improvement over ACX. Just wish Sulejmani and crew weren't so damn cheap. -

I prefer gloss plastic too, part of the appeal with the 1/55's for me. Members here have described ways to avoid chipping the nose in battroid mode on the VF-27, forgot where but I've definitely read the tips here before. Bandai should get FLEX to design an all new DX VF-25 from scratch. Maybe it will be a while but being that Bandai retains the license for a while, I think we can all wait. If it gives you guys any relief, I think FLEX is from Bandai's Hobby Division instead of their Collector's Division(Tamashii). Also he designed the 1/48 and other Yamato valks afterwards(not sure which other ones specifically, but IIRC he was the guy to go to before SOLID and T-Rex started doing more work for Yamato). Considering how much it is given the MSRP and weak dollar/yen ratio right now, HLJ's price, despite the yen gaining strength(and going back down a tiny bit last week) is a bargain.

TakaraTomy Transformers United Photos All of them look superior to their Hasbro counterparts but I prefer Henkei gun Megatron compared to the repaint shown here. -
I don't think Gundam influenced the design of his Macross F mecha. Ever since Aquarion or even before that, his mecha have been taking on a more slender and organic appearance. Sure Katoki's Gundam designs/redesigns are slimmer compared to Okawara's but they still maintain the boxy, mecha look we associate with mecha. With Macross F, Aquarion, Eureka 7, et al, Kawamori went for more curvature and slender frames. Closest things I can think of are Evas and Zone of Enders. As for what will fit in, the only design I see from Bandai that would fit in best with a Yamato 1/60 collection is the VF-27.

FLEX goes back too, AFAIK before the 1/48 he had designed some MG kits for Bandai. FLEX IIRC, also knows aircraft pretty well. I hope he redesigns the DX VF-25 for Bandai eventually. I won't be buying the Monster anytime soon. It certainly looks cool but I want valkys 1st. -
Great work so far man, itching to see it. What are you sculpting the new parts out of?
