  1. yes I agree the NATF which was a swing wing F-22 WITH phoenix missles would have been the best choice. Noone ever said the tomcat would be better than THAT. the NATF is the ONLY plane envisioned that could possibly surpass the tomcat for its roles on the carrier. The reason we keep bringin up the tomcat is because though the NATF was cencelld, upgrading the F-14 to tomcat 21 would have provided a replacement for older tomcats AND the intruder and at the same time outdoing the inferior super hornet. Since the NATF was cancelled we look at tomcat 21 as the next best thing. Hornet cant do the job the tomcat can but u can sure as hell bet tomcat 21 can.
  2. no the F-35B was meant to have VTOL from the beginning. Fully loaded even a harrier cant take off cvertically thats why tjey use ski ramps on ship but with medium load it can. With no VTOL the royal air force and marines wouldnt care for it. Even all the concept arts of the JSF program feature the B doing VTOL. the whole reason the marines want it is the ability to do VTOL . Otherwise they could have just opted for an F-22 which can do STOL(yes its capable of doing short landing and take off).
  3. low viz and skull 1 along with the hikaru 1J are the most popular. Least popular is the 1A max type. hikaru 1J with armor is popular as well. SOme etailers sold out of that long before selling out of the armorless one.
  4. well see they didnt forsee the weight gain and that the design changes might have made it worse, the hornet mafia was too powerful at that time for anyone to even say anything against them, so with that in mind all the f***ups included in the airframe remained. The original F-18L proposal from the late 80s was actually 2 me a better design. from wbhat david says it seems that the YF-17 cobra was actually a more superior airframe. h here are disadvantages of super compared to legacy hornet 1-Can't supercruise like the F/a-18C 2-slower in acceleration and overall top speed 3-the wing drop...frfom what i hear its not completely fixed just bandaided. 4-might not be as manueverable as legacy although i hope it is.Not sure if AOA limits are higher but with them bigass LERXs i would presume it could have better high AOA handling. 5-Might not be as good as the marine F/A-18D night attacker. here are the sup[ers advantages 1-clearance for Aim-9X(i think) 2-handful more weapons pylons 3-better bring back capability 4-better radar 5-helmet mounted site. for aim9x queing off boresight. i only see a few more advantages that matter, aim9x clearance, more weapons p[ylons, and the helmet site along with bring back capability. in terms of overall performance i think the legacy might be the better of the 2. (see i wouldlnt be so anti super hornet if it wasnt replacing the tomcat, kuz it cant do it effectively, superhornet can effectively be deemed a outright successor to the A-7 since it cant even out perform some of the legacy hornets characterstics although b oeing would like you to think it does).
  5. i 2nd that! anything perfect variable with macross 0 all over it is awesome! MEtal material datterboy model based paint scheme SV-51 anyone? metal material series 1/72 macross 0 toys would be icing on the friggin cake! can't believe i forgot about that line! BEsides, better in that line than SOC. as much as id like to hope this will happen, i gota agree as well, it probably wont. howver noone saw the reissues coming from a mile away then all of a sudden toyboxdx got news of the hikaru 1J. yes it came at a bad time due to yamato coming out with stuff but I am thinking once yamato starts going dry on product, thats when bandai will take the field and step up the competition. i would hope./
  6. yea they are really small. smaller then the MSIA. Well you never know graham, i always had the premonition bandai was just waiting for yamato to make some f*** ups and then once fans get pissed at yamato, and a valjk drouhgt of some kind makes us beg for valks like water, bandai will strike hard and fast./ if anythiung HCM pro would be the line i think it would be released in but in a larger scale then the gundams.
  7. I think a tomcat 21 would be able to take on a flanker with 4,000 of JDams on the pylons at the same time. Man that thing would have been a beauty. thrust vectoring and supercruise as well as airframe and flap changes would have made that big ass plane even more of a better dogfighter.
  8. hey now for 25cents in the arcade deer huntern is awesome! always thought it would be better with RPGs and machine guns thouhg.
  9. if hes does restart the tomcat program hes a f*****n genius. Either that or a a new navy TFX program to find a fighter that combines the a2a of tomcat with a2g of a-6 and surpasses both.
  10. true. I just love bandai thats why i want stuff. They had quite a good reputation in terms of the HCM VF-1 so it would be a good way to introducce new valk toys in the HCM pro line. After all the line is still fresh and the first releases are not even oyut yet. They are not following a timeline order...for example astray gundam is planned and not even a strike gundam proto was seen first...or if they make a strike. I really think HCM pro is fan driven as most of the initial releases planned are all fan fav mobile suits. With that in mind I hope vqalks are made and perhaps in VFERR color schgeme.
  11. naw UAVs cant get as high and cant get better resolution images than the SR71. Cheney just axed a bunch of stuff that the US should have kept. Even now tomcat squadrons are outdoing hornets in the air to ground role. I mean hornets werent chosen to do CAS on ground bases and FAC, TOMCATS were. this was last year i belive.
  12. yea no MPC VF=-1s shouldnt have the arms dragging on the ground. If you did everything right and yours does yours is the first i have heard with such a defect.
  13. well he was secretary of defense. Some submariner higherups in the navy were allied with him and this only factored more into the already large hornet mafia. David is right the only reason the tomcat got cancelledd was basically politics. With the upgrades provided it could have been uppedn to tomcat 21 standard and became the best successor to the A-6 while retaining wait i mean BETTERING the tomcats performance as a fighter(cleared for AMRAAM i believe, non rimmed canopy, more sensors, swappable phoneix pallet with sensor, SUPERCRUISE, higher fuel, not much weight gain considering it was a lot of upgrades, more clearance for other weapons, and better manueverability for dogfighting as well). Oh yea tomcat 21 would be a bbetter bomber than the F/A-18F as well. but like david said it was all politics. Whoevber did speak up would get courtmartialed or if holding position of an admiral or something, retired early. There were a bunch of tomcat pilots who really wanted to say something but couldnt. At that point i believe it was already too late as the hornet lobby was already big and cheney just ready to announce canceling the program for the f-14. So by then it was probablky too late to evben speak up but from what i recall david said that the B/D tomcats are kept in reserve after spares run out in case the super hornet f**s up. (which it most certainly will soon enough). tomcat 21 could outaccelerate the F-14D and havea =much better fuel consumption thanks to supercruise ability. Oh yea i forgot to add that it would have had thrust vectoring as well. the F-18C can supercruise but the super hornet cant, as a matter of fact the C has better speed and acceleratoin than the super. kind of sad if you ask me.
  14. me2! thats why i drool at the fact of perhaps VF-0 in HCM pro. that would rockl.
  15. actually the avionics on the ruskie planes suck. PLay the flanker simulato then play janes F-15. you'll see what i mean. their airframes and stuff however are very nice. i thought the bcats did interfere in plus? if not for the ghost being destroyed i think the ghost would have went to proiduction instead of AVF. after all they did say it was to be used in place of them until guld trashed it.
  16. i dunno man hes got aqueiron crap coming out and finishing up macross 0. So with him being the man yamato HAS to come to and with him doing all that crap, i imagine its not as easy as you may think. he must be busy making sure tenjins CG models are to his taste, going over footage and telling teh animators to redo stuff, working on aquerion and doing other stuff. and for some reason i hope bandai does make VF-0 in HCM pro. ahh yeaaaaaaaaaa
  17. wow didnt notice that before. that SUCKS! man if that piece is made out of diecast i fer scratches are INEVITABLE.!!!
  18. yep poiliticians ruin everything. look at vietnam war and especially what cheney did to the F-14. back on topic. Cot damn this has F-111 written ALL over it. Its lke a small TFX program. ANd burn it shall. F-111 was too heavy at many points for the navy and air force and its engine wasnt helping either. Its the TF30 which plagued F-14s years later. The navy canned their version(that rear admiral connolly was a genius for nailing that dumb plane in its coffin) and the navy with grumman worked towards tgetting an F-14. Though commmonality on paper looks good, the point is this. Multirole is good, but no plane can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING all at once perfectly. A-6 got canned and now we dont have a legitimate A-6 replacement, we got a superhornet that cant match the range and bombload. try as they may, dedicated roles need dedicated planes. Sio while multirole is a must, we gotta hav balance in the force. a force of 4 multiroles wont be able to strike as far as a dedicated long range bomber. Air force seems to be doing well but teh navy for the first time in many many years seems like it will not have the best planes. F-14 vs F-15 stems a long ass debate. F-18F vs F-22 and you clearly know which is the best fighter. see what i mean? anyhoo i wouldnt be surprised if the JSF got canned completely.
  19. judging rom what graham said the production of 15,000 is an average number for any toyline., that number does not really mean limited at all. for the low viz there was a discussion the summer it came out and from what i remember it was compared to the YF-1R and the production for low viz was below 5,000 and i also recall readiong it was less than 2,500. So theres nothing close to 30K out there. oh man that wouyld so rule though, i wouldnt mind having a low viz and not paying 300$ up for it. and boys within nmoinths after release, I am sure by x mas, i bet some of us will be the proud owners of MPC alphas on DISCOUNT.(shoot my MPC skull 1 MIB was 10$....lets hope some of us get an alpha MPC for that price as well!)
  20. Since HCM pro is set to go on for the next 10 years, I imagine that it cant be gundam based solely. COuld be wrong but hell I imagine other anime ,ike macross and lgaim could get the HCM pro treatment. perhaps a 1/72 scale macross 0 series in HCM pro along with an all new VF-1 HCM pro 1/72 in scale with the original HCM. 1/200 would be too tiny for a variable valkyrie. If bandai were to do ANYTHING for macross I imagine anything new would be in the HCM pro line. after all there were 3 VF-1s in the original HCM line. I dont think david is sscreen printer, just a aerospace engineer. Ive seen his posts at diecastaircraft.com and conversed with him a couple times bout fighters, the man knows his stuff. Even suttle differences on F-15s released by dragon do not escape him. HE knows all. I am wondering what kawamori discussed with bandai, i keep hearing toyline but what about a new toyline? to be honest I think bandai can tear yamato up in the valkyrie department if they actually TRIED to do something new. (i know i know gundam this gundam that i know thats there cashcow). but seriously think about it, theymodernized a bunch of retro toys and made them awesome(SOC toys).
  21. oh man. We really are united in our stance against the PVC POS, I must agree, if it was accurate nad at least STUNNING in all 3 modes with diecast and ABS at tghat small size then it would definitely be nice if not out of the odinary by yamato. Imode does yamato even pay attention to teh BBS you used to translate? THey always say japanese market but when it comes to macross as it seems it seems that macross world and japanese fans are very similar, with them tending to be more harsh then we are. but u gotta be ruthless at times to make things happen i always say.
  22. it can also doom some planes. I remember what hqappened to the horrible F-111. the first plane o commonality which is rearing its ugly head under the JSF monnicker
  23. heh damn imagine it fully loaded. holy crap. it would be a sigfht to watch the damn thing try to even lift up the front wheel. somehow i think the this is the fault of the pencil pushers.
  24. yes witha different box. hopefully amano work insted of tommy yune.
