HELL yea! Super bugs jsut dont do the decals as good either, squadron decals look WAY better on a tomcat than on a superbug..go to mats and see the squadrons that converted...their super bugs look nowhere near as awesome as their old tomcats...and yes I am talking abouit the CAG planes as well!

id also like to add that by the time an F22 enters a dogfight, stealth is irrelevant. BY that time the plane is detectable to radar, it is never really invisible to begin with on radar just a small RCS. To get my point across play DID's total air war and you wil see what I mean. you are only stealth within a certain range, get closer and the enemy can see you. once I understood this it made the game all the more enjoyable. Especially shutting off my radar after terminal guidance on my amramm is no longer needed.,..,watching the flanker get blown up while i hunt down his wingmen...ah ea.

does it matter?the tornado isn't stealth, was not meant to be and was designed in the late 60s.

Hey people. Almost every one of our jet threads turns into an F-14 vs F-18 thread, which is AWESOME. HOwever it derails topics and so forth. So with that. I made this thread. THink the A-4 owned ass in dogfighting? Think the F117 is better than JSF? US planes suck and flankers will own us? Tomcat better than hornet? F15A better than F15C? Put it here! So this can double as a comparison thread as well. ie comparing planes to other planes. So let me start. I think the F-20 rocked and I now see why SHin got it as a replacement for his F-8 in area88. I think Tomcats RULE and will always like it more than hornets. I think the F/A-18D marine night attack version is AWESOME simply because its the best airccraft the jarheads have today. A-6s RULE and A-6F would have been lovely like tomcat 21. F-22 is a worthy successor to the F-15 but the F-18F is not a good one for the tomcat. JSF is just a supersonic F117. Discovery channel made tornado IDS look awesome. Oh yea. I think military planes and fleets in general were better in the 70s in terms of arrangement and plane mixes...I mean we had dedicated bombers and fighters..now we get planes forced to multirole but too small to fulfill the role. late 70s and early 80s ahd the strongest carrier fleets. in the next 10 years I think the navy will lack the lethal punch it always had. heh. what blackjack would be scared of a fully armed superbug on cap? it probably wouldnt even be able to catch up! oh yea. I also think the F42000(USA) was cool looking but wonder if the F8-3 super crusader could have taken it on.

like i said im biased towards tomcat and dont mind the bug as long as it doesnt replace the tomcat...but it is. e also have to take into account the many many tomcat community members who think highly of the tomcat and do not think it was the right decision to go with the superbug/

well the gakken is diezel and HUGE if its the 1.35 scale. OPKLus add in a removeable PILOT, opening canopy, and once again a huge ass robot toy and you got a WINNER! had no idea it was THHAT big till i saw it in person. man if toynamis MPC was only in that scale......

yes but those are only 2 people. I knew of them from way back when I used to cruise the NEX and BNN reading up on aircraft magazines and books(man college kills a lot of time). I have seen BBS on google and such were there are many many many peop[le in the tomcat community who do not believe what they say. From all accounts it woul seem St21 would have been much much easier to maintain compared to the older cats. So with that I cannot say I believe them. Yes they have time and were tomcat pilots as well and have flown both aircraft but there are others who have done the same and feel differently. To me it will always boil down to wondering why the navy settled for less when they could have gotten something much cheaper. remember the tomcat is a huge ass airframe so there was a lot of room to work with. The venture was a private one done by grumman NOT by the navy so I am sure there suggested and proported improvements were dead on and NOT politically influenced(in other words I tend to think grumman was being honest...and not to mention they have a LONG ASS hgistory of making fighter planes dating back to the hellcat). BTW those 2 seem like staunch advocates for the superbug and one of them consulted Janes for the superbug sim. While they got credentials,. I can't help but feel they are biased towards the hornet like i am with the cat. By all means I do not mind the super bug, I just HATE how its replacing the almighty tomcat. (and the fact that it just cant outdo it)

me being an art major and wanting to be in comics, I tend to think collectign and PLAYING YES PLAYING with toys is within the territory. I always point out to my parents alex ross on TV, he paints with guache and watercolor and works for DC every now and then and look at his HUGE justice leage collection. My collection as a WHOLE pales in comparison. Oh and he gets paid has a good career and loves his job, 'm sure someone would regret mocking his collection since he is damn successful and can support it. Its not like hes too old for them toys crap none of us are.

after getting the 1.48 everything else is bought mainly just for well love of the VF-1 design. Withoiu the 1.48 its like buyin stuff to relive the pain of not haveing the 1/48. Only wqhen you have the 1/48 can you appreciate the inferior toys for what they are.

Me i was one who really didnt like swap transformation...but with the 1/48 i became more accepting of the seemingly "ingferrior" valks/ Sop with that I enjoy my 1/60 more and my MPCs more because I got my 1/48, thee godlike valk toy that nothing compares to..as long as i got the best i can somewhat enjoy the rest. 1/48 RULES. only trhing i dont like is the price. TO me my MPCs were more gfun than my 1/60 simply because it did not need part swap. had the 1/60 been perfect variable then I wouldnt not dare ebven l;ook at the MPC.

WHOA! in the self defense role, with 2 sidewinders and 4 amramms outboard and a full bomb complement, it has the full load of a A-6 with the full armnament load of a ANG F-16 or F-15!!!! DUAL role with no sacrifice! david, I never knew ther was a dual amraam adapter! (totally forgot that it was much smaller than the sparrow and could be mounted on sidewinder ports, so with that a total of 6 amrrams could be used!)

ya see thats the ting. TOmcat 21 would have done everything etter then the super hornet. And cheaper by many millions as well. Tomcat 21 was not new buiild only retrofit, andf ASF14 was the new build less capable one. Tomcat 21 was the superior one and also the CHEAPER one., Not to mention the one the navy was intending to get. There are very few planes that can maintain a huge ass bombload and manuever like a fighter, this is one thing that the tomcat 21 would have had over mabny other planes SPECIFICALLY the super bug,. Note the mud hen may or not be able to do this i will let david chime in and answer that for you as I have no idea but it seems klike it cannot function as a figthter with max bomb load. Most of tomcat 21s bombload would be inbetween the nacelles of the engines so not much if any drag at all., arm the outboard stations with sidewinders and AMRAAMS(not cleared for tomcat due to funding but if tomcat 21 went ahead it would) adn you havea bad ass capable A-6 and F-14D replacement. I agree with the whole multirole thing lynx,,.,its like commonality,,.may be cheaop but ultinately it will f*** up somewhere. Everyone thought theb F-111 was a dreamplane for both services, look what happened,. Same shi* goin on with JSF. what the hell? ok let me put in some points. I will not bash my skull 1 MPC because I got it for 10$ MIB at gamestop(delisting rocks!) 1-Aesthetics. or...LOOOKS-1/60 WINS hands down! Gotta be blind to say the MPC looks better than the 1/60. there is NO comparison whatsoever! 1/60 had the consultance of shoji kawamori and it is obvious. Accurate and awesome looking. MPc is decent but not as anal detailed as the yammie. its just the TRUTH. no bias there. honestly. Only the landing gear on the MPC looks better but thats only because of one extra notch on the front. 2-DURABILITY> both are equal here. My 1/60s hip is cracked(nosecone hip area). MPC have very fragile head lasers. and the plastic head rotation limiter can be broken easily by turning the head all the way left. 3-Stability...or how well it holds together................................Equal as well. MPC may have swing bars but the right side bar always has a hardtime locking into positiion..very loose lock or stop. In fighter mode it is not as solid as the 1/60. 1/60 is more solid in fighter but its legs can fall apart in battroid. MPc goes to gerwalk. 4-price. 1/60....unless you can get MPC cheap MIB. 5-playability. Simple. If you want something in one piece get the MPC. if you want something to swap(doesnt take that long acrtually) get the1.60. nail in coffin.=both of these pale in comparison to the 1.48. There are redeeming and demeaning qualities to both and at this point I would say that they are probably EQUAL at this pooint. Boil it down to looks and price and you will get 1.60. What ever is most important for you is what you should go buy. If its looks get a 1/.60 if its playability gert an MPC provided the price is cheap.

if the AI of yukikaze mauve can hack into other plane's systems then I am sure a virus can also be implanted into the Ai of the mauve. All you ned is a VF-0D or GCI center with yan newman from macross plus and consider the mauve OWNED!

I duno. I havea lot of faith in lockheed and to be a aior superiority fighter you gotta get down and dirty....the tomcat had automated flight sweep so I am sure NATF would have had that for its wings as well. I tend to think lockheed would have figured something out in terms of making the NATF stealthy with no sacrifice while still enabling wing sweep anytime. The rumored switchblade craft also has swingwings./
