  1. heh the best thing is that they are in the 6$ range
  2. actually I think you are referring to the first 3 waves/years of transformers. By 1987 we got the mostly plastic stuff and ended up getting some weird ass pathetic toys. The toys borrowed from diaclone and microman all kicked ass to me...even g1 megatron...once you started intermingling microman figures with him all of a sudden he seems more diabolical and badass.
  3. what ARE you talking about??? That comment makes no sense. EXACTLY LOL thats why it rocks. LOL he said bubble instead of bumble. BTW skyfire in the cartoon was a big ass plane. man he rocks.
  4. uh its the same guy who did the masterpiece and binaltechs...if you compare the energon stuff to the late 80s g1 stuff without the diecast the energon ones certainly kick their ass as toys. like I said they are designed for age groups more than 10+years apart. we arent kids anymore so we get the masterpiece and binaltech stuff. the energon stuff is for kids and fans who want something to fiddle with.
  5. well these toys are for kids ages 5+. The true irony is that the same guy who designed the armada and energon toys(THE toys NOT the characters themselves) designed the binaltechs and masterpiece as well! His name is kobayashi(last name) and he is relatively young...not even 30 yet!! started designing with RID/car robots speedbreaker and tehn moved on to binaltech and masterpiece. Aaron archer or Orson as his name came to be, only designs what the characters themselved should look like or the concept art, his buddy kobayashi in japan is the one who does all the gruntwork aka blueprinting, measurements, and such. The actual TOY desighning is his job, not the aesthetics. will we get alternator p[lanes? I sure as hell hope so. I have asked professor smooth from seibertron.com to bug the hel out of hasbro reps or perhaps aaron archer himself at OFTCC to see if theres planes down the line. so yea different markets=different purposes. Energon is meant for kids so it looks like its meant for kids. Binaltech and masterpiece is fgor us. if its cars only ill be pissed. hbow the hell can you forget starscream?
  6. word of advice before ANYHONE tries this. Sharpie markers over time, their lines will fade from a dark color to dull/bright purple. This has happened to everything I have panel lined since i started in 99. So yes almost all my MSIA have purple tint from the lines. Pencil does indeed work best for now and at the same time sharpies are too big to line with. Use either micron sakura pigment or the pentech fine line mm pens.
  7. all our prototypes stolen from a factory in asia and posted online like usual. The dinos are rumored to be the grimlocka nd swoop mega size box set(20$) set for this year. All of these are from energon and some may be part of the gestalt teams listed in the walmart computers recently. L:ike i said energon does not end till summer 2005 which is next year so I highly doubt any prototypes for cybertron would have been stolen by now. Not to mention many other sites are indeed saying with credible info that the protos shown are for the later half of energon. We will see most of the final products at OFTCC later in july
  8. It had less to do with the F-4 and more to do with the training regiment of pilots in the late 1950's and early 1960's. There was a point where ACM training was completly outlawed. F-4 pilots were taught how to engage incoming Soviet Bombers with in a BVR enviroment, F-105 pilots were taght to deliver nuclear weapons at low-level into Europe. (See a trend) This is why TOPGUN and the USAF Fighetr Weapons School were developed to reteach air combat. There was also a real bad habit of the USAF of taking anyone with wings and rotating them into fighters with minimal transition training. The capablities of an aircraft are important, but the training and the abilities of the pilot are more important. i agree but robomatt was trying to make it seem that jsut because we got F-22 and JSF coming, he thinks that air supremacy will be ours, thats why i brouight up the phantom, i was the best at the time bnut it didnt mean we would win/
  9. uh no offense but what the hell are you talking about>? I have been playing with valks for so long( i am now 20) and dude I have 3 MPC, 1 bandai reissue, a old jetfiure , a 1./60 and 1/48. By far the most duirable is bandai with the 1/48 coming in 2nd., MPC is loose as helll in many areas and breakage will result on your MPC long before your 1/48 breaks. I transform my 1/48 rrrrrough and its NEVER broken. try saying that to all my broke model kits. Also the 1/48 can be played with, Im sorry but the bandai 1/55...famous and classic and admirable as it is, I finally came to the conclusion that whil it still can be enjoyed, its time has come. Jawjaw is right, the only thing really bitched about is the backpack. MPC's wiring can break without even trying it happene to me. 1/48 is NOWHERE NEAR DELICATE!!!!!!!! I dont know why anyone would just buy and display and be afraid to handle it. its big and its AUTOPcad designed not to mention very DURABLE. I mean come on. 1/60 has more diecast but is more FRAGILE!!! 1/60 has cracked hip insertion points. cracked canopies anyone>? MPC has a ton of problems and looseness is a major one, and its head lasers will break more than the much hyped breakable 1/48 head lasers(1/48 is a tough PVC material i belive and very resistant to breakage...i know because i play with it a LOT). through and through i play with MPC and 1/48 and how come my MPC feet chip if or slightly change shape at the tips when displayed and feet are meddled with? how come this doesnt happen to the 1/48? I dont know how you can say its very delicate no offense dude, but i just think the toy is very very durable, no wait KNOW it is. transformation is very easy./ jsut make sure the chestplate is at an angle when sliding the heatshield and BAM the trickiest part is over not delicate, built for rough play and for the adult fan who grew with macross. MPC is just something cool to buy on discount. Which I did. skull 1 for 10$!!!
  10. and with that...chinas got a crapload of airplanes and even more peolpe on the ground waiting to gun your ass either way if you get shot down and happen to float into thei territory. F-22 aint gonna solve everything.
  11. i dunno dude i doubt much can be done. Back when cheney was sec of defense he made it so anyone in the navy who stood up to him and spoke out against him on the tomcat issue would be risking losing their wings and get courtmartialed. David probably has more on that story. This also has to do with the MCD lobby in congress and such. basicallty the gist is that to them the A-6F and F-14D were too expensive and they did originally want both and the NATF but cost overuns and the NATF with the navy pulling out left them with nothing but MCD calmiung them down with proposals for a supposed cheaper better hornet. which wasnt the case ....now. BTW i hear the tooling for the tomcat was ordered destroyed by cheney so theres not much we can do now unless grumman takes a cat apart and recasts each and every part. unlikely thye would do so. For me hope lies in the notion of tomcats being used againa nd Tomcat 21 becoming reality...however realistically i think the true tomcat successor will be in the form of the fighter that replaces the super hornet years from now.
  12. that fact alone would ASSURE supertiority? do you realize that the number of raptors being produced is only in the 300 range and that the JSF lacks the payload and manueverability of the F-16? Superiority is not dictated by hardware alone its the training in affect as well. look what happened when we haed the phantoms and went to veitnam, we had the worlds most advanced fighteraircraft yet we got shotdown by rather primtive in comparison smaller migs. we dont have enough F-22s along the line to even guarantee full air sup[remacyh, we can only hope the number of 300+ is adequate to get the job done initially and have the less capable planes as backup to supplement. and Nied is right it wouldnt be a cakewalk at all. Afganhistan and iraq barely even had a force to fight in the air. Iran and north korea, espcially china would be the ones to watch out for
  13. thoase are NOT cybertron. enbergon lasts until next summer. No melissa your not wrong there never was a universe tv show planned just a comic. universe isnt the next line its one of the current sidelines.
  14. yes but still it would be much better than this movie. topgun i think wasnt really good for sequel material. But I just think a s2equel wqould fare much better than "stealth" the movie. oh man. can you believe the marketing campaign that would surround topgun 2 if it came out? gijoe licensed skystrikers in maverick's paint scheme, more publicity for the F-14D super tomcat programme, licensed diecast 1/72+ models..... ahh yes we can dream.
  15. Because it was developed FOR the airforce. ATF was for the most part air force. Navy pulled out early on when costs for the percieved naval variant arose. All the requirements were put by the airforce noone else. so for the most part the airforce owns it. BTW nightbat that would be awesome if someone launched that POS into the ocean. ahh firefox......awesome movie and that artwork...man that plane rocks. and yes melissa I did forget countdown, thanks for bringin it up, can't believe i forgot about my fav squadron! wait that and executive decision,.,..,skulland bones as well!! the plot for this movie is way too un original. AI running amock is a common concern amongst the entire populace who knows of AI. genre has been done to death for eons. from terminator to macross plus, those 2 being cool this movie seemingly crappy. oh yea jessioca biel would look awesome in a flightsuit....hopefully she poses for MAXIM near the end of the movie's shooting. as i said before, even though if ther was a topgun 2 maverick would just have to shoot more migs and be a topgun instructor, I still think a potential topgun 2 would be way better than this garbage./
  16. awesome. Oh yea not to mention the super gator was meant to have guns if in production. Making it kick more ass as well. F-2 vs latest block F-16. For strike and bombing is the fomparison for JSF and F-117. AF-1117X looked promising in air to air. super bug vs night attack in strike and a2a
  17. ok people noticed some airplane topics floaitng around and such that should be in here ideally so with that time to resurrect. Planes I thought of that would be good to debate/ F-8III super crusader(gator)vs F-4S phantom II -Rafale vs EF2000 typhoon -Harrier II vs JSF F-35B -X-32 vs A-7 corsair II -F/A-18D marine night attack vs F/A-18F super bug -Mig-29M vs Su-35 -F-2 vs F-16 -F-20 vs F-8()AREA 88 HELL YEA) -RF-5E Tigereye vs RF-8 -A-10 vs A-9(another match northrop lost...wonder why) -F-20 vs golden eqagle korea -B-1B vs Tu-160 blackjack(fdamn this is a big plane) -F-117 vs F-35A -F/A-117X navy Vs F-35B lesson of this week. I think flankers rock but nowhere near a threat as defense planners say when planning the next budget for their planes. HMMMMMM
  18. interesting. Well sundown thats propaganda for you; albeit history tells us that pencilpushers really dont know what the hell they are talking about. Wish governmenyt would listen more to the military flyers themselves rather than political lobbysists in congress. Not sure if the IAF could take on the USAF. They surely kick ass in highly unbelievable odds against them but their much vaunted mock kill ratio over one of the navy's fleet's air wings is really just blown out of proportion./ Let us not forget that the IAF gets most of their planes through us and same with tactics and perhaps doctrine though suited to their tastes. In terms of this whole flanker phobia, I think eagle pilots could hold their own against flankers. Flankers need barely any armnaments mounted to do their air show manuevers....do you think a flanker loaded with gas and AAMs jumped by an F-15 would be that supermanueverable? Didn't think so either. flanker has many things going against it, its a FACT proven time and time again that nations relax worry about the plane till the next planned plane is proposed and needs funding. EF2000 and F-22 all benifitted much from flanker phobia. I always felt it was best to have the best planes and armnaments and never settle for less so to me it was ok but this just makes more people noit in the know worried to deqath that russia has the edge wchich they obvio8usly dont. flanker as said has many things going against it. (this from my experience playing the flanker sims and also studying up on JANES big ass boooks on campus and various magazines and reliable internet sources) -rearward vision sucks balls. Sorry but it does. Specially the 2 seater version. Looks cool as hell though and the backseater has a excellent view of the front almost nonexistent in the back. -avionics. hooly crap this SCREAMS GCI whore. dep0endenct on GCI was not only the norm, but what this plane relies on. Dogfighting feels weird and I felt it was useful to disregard everuything except the gun sight when dogfighting/. Radar is very difficult to use. Chances are a F-16 ANG pilot will lock onto the flanker before the pilot can even select adder to shoot the falcon. -overrated manueverability. It is no surprised that this plane moves like balls on watery soap, however it only moves that well with the bare minimum or barely any to no armnament on at all. Alpha performance is excellent but you can bet your ass i would never do a cobra in a dogfight. -overpercieved threat. F-22 can take this thing out no problem. shin's lesson for the day................... F-14 TOMCATS KICK ASS I TOO WONDER WHY THEY ARE BEING RETIRED AND THEY ROCK YO FORR33L/ ok the real lesson. Su Flanker series is the most lethal threat in the skies today from russia but this isnt the days of the 60s, our planes now can intercept and haul ass in knife fighting. we got the advantage people. Fl;anker aint that dangerous once you think about it but is said to be when budgets are needed. BTW avionics systems and radar are MUCH MUCH
  19. uh/////I think you missed my point. I meant NOT retracting the hands in the forearm and keeping the hands out while in fighter mode.....if you leave the TV hands on does it block the backpack, arms and legs from locking togethere? thats what I meant sorry if i wasnt clear. TV hands it is./
  20. I meant like one rfist and the other the trigger finger hand since it seems like it just has a finger extended parallel to other fingers. With that in mind I am just wondering if it blocks the backpack from locking into the sides of the legs. Or the arms and such. Just wondering since I want a VF-1J and the hands....on tmy hikaru 1S well... damn it articulation ROCKS but on fingers they SUCK!!
  21. uh. its on the first page of this thread............
  22. actually no; last prototypes never did any tests for nasa and now reside in storage I believe 1 is in a museum. Sad. Northrop has some awesome planes but I suppose their politics doesnt win them over. Imagine if the planes they made,(Yf-23, F-20, YF-17) made it into service. If not our own then a foreign country. Cheap, economical, and GREAT capability and manueverability all for a low price sans YF-23. Irritates me how my homeland's military never bought the F-20s./
  23. I feel it is like the SU-30. Can be used as a trainer, key word is CAN, but can also be used for long range endurance missions where its helps if someone in the back does some of the work for you like navigation and the like. I dont think its strictly a trainer and not strictly a long range multirole either. bit of both worlds or what have you.
  24. difference being northrop knows what the hell they are doing with switchblade. I agree the stealth in the movie SUCKS balls. Even gijoe planes lke the storm eagle seem a lot more functional. Also I guessn there is a window HUD. When I saw the cast list I knew this movie would be a potential disaster. Rob cohen has only directed action flicks, nothing with airplanes. The story is suspect as well. Who hasnt thought of an AI running amuck? With that in mind I was excited till I saw the above and now remain to the thought that flight of intruder and topgun are the onyl good military aviation movies(yea i know flight wasnt that truthful to the book but dafoe was bad ass in there and anything antiSAM is alwyas cool to me). Me thinks only one guy and girl will remain alive in that squadron and I wouldnt be surprised if theyn put the jhoystick on the left or if in fact the controls are a yoke. Yoke as in airliner controls.
  25. looks a lot like delta team helmet in air force delta strike. god man why dont movie companies use the old school vietnam era helmets? i mean come on even knighthawk and raptor pilots use that helmet albeit new variations and such but much cooler looking than tony hawk stealth mode.
