  1. He needs the double shades from "Iceman: The Later Years". Only then could the essence of teh Iceman be complete.
  2. I don't think it is. I just think that's the line that most Macross toy collectors regard as having raised the bar for perfect transformation Macross toylines, because there just isn't much else out there when it comes to Macross. It also does not hurt that Yamato has the 1/60 license for most of the popular VF's we've seen. The only line that comes close is the VF HI METAL line due to not favoring stylistic exaggeration(Revoltech), and for having minimal parts-swapping(and perfect transformation for the most part). Yet VF HI METAL is in a significantly smaller scale. If Bandai obtains licenses for other valks in demand for 1/60 scale, gets FLEX and/or Hobby Division designers to design said toys, I think fans will be more receptive to variety. Stuff like the VF-171, VF-171EX. If they want to use the VF HI METAL VF-1 as a base, make a scaled up version at 1/72 as an SCHMpro VF-1 with retractable landing gear/internal heat shield, I would most likely like it. I wouldn't mind that at all, I don't really get tired of the RX-78 and VF-1. I still think the VF HI METAL has the potential to do okay. I might preorder Roy's Strike.
  3. Their quality control for the most part is good. It isn't perfect but overall, it's not to the point where 1st releases are usually avoided. As for design, for transforming mecha, I think their Hobby Division ought to be used instead of Tamashii; look at how the reception by the fandom was for the 1/72 Macross F plamo compared to the 1/60 DX VF-25's. FLEX, from the Hobby Division, worked on the DX VF-27 and it's regarded as a significant improvement over the DX VF-25, and was more warmly received.
  4. Heh, or maybe Iceman will be the ground controller for the UCAV...he did say Maverick could be his wingman anytime...
  5. Battle In Space Box Set Hot Rod VS Cyclonus
  6. Newest trailer: Transformers PRIME Launch Trailer
  7. I have, but I'm just crossing my fingers.
  8. GI Joe Renegades 1st Clip Black Friday GI Joe Renegades Premiere Confirmed The new Renegades cartoon is to GI Joe what WFC is to Transformers PRIME; an origin story. All new continuity and as with TF PRIME, Hasbro is in it for the long run. Hasbro stated recently in the q/a sessions that the figures will be released in the Pursuit Of Cobra line and will maintain realistic styling and level of detail/sculpting of POC. My key hope is that this cartoon is not dumbed down. The ONLY GI JOE cartoon that was not dumbed down was GI Joe Resolute.
  9. Lemme guess, Maverick is away from flying for a longtime, and is brought back in to take on rogue UAV's which have been hacked into. Remember the line from Goose? "I dunno Mav, it's like everytime we fly it's like you're flying against a ghost". Or something like that. Scott did say it would be a movie about the "last fighter pilots". It would make sense if it's Maverick VS drones...LOL pulling off that sudden pull-up manuever he did in the 1st film. I think the Super Bug would look beast doing that.
  10. Homura your pics are awesome man, they win me over on some valks I have mixed feelings on buying!
  11. Not to mention, you have to mention the amount of small internal parts needed to be cast for the VF-11. The VF-11 is deceiving, on the outside, it looks simple, but there are a lot of complex mechanisms within that are only viewable once you take it apart. The more smaller parts that need to have tools cut for, the more expensive the cost of production. Wouldn't be surprised if it's more than the V2 1/60 VF-1. Also, the VF-11 is a bigger toy than the VF-1 overall, and this was not apparent to me until I got mine and saw it in person. The pics on the net do not do it justice in that regard.
  12. It does save you money too. I think it's pretty clear too, the fandom, prefers products from Bandai's Hobby Division over Collector's Division(Tamashii). FLEX is from the Hobby Division and his DX 27 is arguably the most liked DX Macross F toy aside from the Quarter and Monster.
  13. Yes, some deco differences, teeth are not as sharp in dino mode. Comes with a crown; the crown in Japan was from a higher priced exclusive version which is about $200+ to import. The Japanese version also comes with the brainwave scanner, platter, and apron. With the Hasbro one you are getting the crown but not the apron and stuff; for what you get, I think it's a great deal.
  14. I disagree, politics aside, the VF-1 MPC(starting with Ben), was a decent toy, it just wasn't even close to being the most accurate at the time, and at the time, was very dated. Nonetheless, I found it to be a much better toy to the V1 1/60(but doesn't hold a candle to the 1/48 and V2 1/60). The Alpha MPC is a very sour lemon in comparison. The VF-1 MPC will never win awards for innovation and originality but it is much more sturdy and much more solid/stable than the Alpha MPC. Also I may have misread but I thought I heard that the 22's nose does lock down in battroid mode.
  15. They should be at any art/crafts store, pretty cheap too, only $2+. Also, the ink does not turn purple over time, unlike Sharpie markers.
  16. Until Yamato is even able to obtain the license, I think it's pointless to hope for them to get it. It's been said that Bandai has the exclusive license and will have it for a long while. By the time it expires, will Yamato even want it? Even by then, who is to say Bandai will not have released a DX 2.0 or renewal? They've used the same designers from time to time at different times. FLEX who worked on the DX VF-27 is the same guy who worked on the 1/48 and did some work on the V1 1/60 VF-1 with Billy Wong. Yet FLEX, IIRC, prior to that work, was a MG Gundam designer. Note that Bandai's Hobby Division works on those and the DX VF-25 was by Tamashii, their Collector's Division. Since FLEX is from the Hobby Division, I think Bandai should just get someone from their Hobby Division(if not FLEX), to design a new VF-25 toy. If Yamato were to get the VF-25 license, would it be FLEX, SOLID, or T-Rex doing the designs? Who knows. Yet it's not going to happen anytime soon, if at all, so our best bet is hoping Bandai hires one of those guys/teams to re-design the DX VF-25 or start from scratch, incorporating all the improvements of the DX VF-27.
  17. Also, with the 19, mach speed in space is over 10 IIRC, so getting to the merge wouldn't take long at all. Ditto for the 22.
  18. I think it would have less parts swapping than the VF-19's as well, no head lasers on the side, don't know if the panel ahead of the neck in fighter mode would need to be swapped though.
  19. I use Sakura brush pens. I loathe using them for drawing, but I found another use for them when it came to toys. What I do is generously brush on a lot of ink on the surface, enough to seep between the panel lines. Then after a few seconds or so, wipe off with tissue paper. In doing so, I accomplish 2 things: Inking in the panel lines Give off a weathered look It made a world of difference on my Classics Jetfire, and eventually I plan on trying these techniques out on one of my Yamatos.
  20. Roy's Strike valk is scheduled for next month, the VF-1A Super Valks I think are for early 2011. I really hope the YF-21 and YF-19 got as far as tool cutting, I honestly think they might do well, being that the only other alternative(s) cost $100 more(1/60 YF-19 and YF-21, assuming that VF HI METAL versions would be ¥7800 at most).
  21. I think this is an area where plamo is showing increased interest and viability. No added costs of labor for assembling/painting the models, and more frequent production runs whereas toys have shorter ones and aren't released anywhere near as often. Not to mention, compared to toys, plamo tends to have more variety of scale. It also doesn't help, that when comparing toys(DX Macross VF-25's, GFFMC, GFFN, SHCMpro), to their plamo counterparts(1/72 VF-25's, MG/HG/RG), with the exception of the SHCMpro, most fans(arguably) prefer the plamo to their toy counterparts(however the RG might be more preferred than SHCMpro but I'm not sure). Hell a lot of Macross fans prefer the 1/72 Macross F models to the DX releases, and I don't think anyone is going to argue that Gundam toys outsell Gundam plamo. However I do have some faith that VF HI METAL will stick around. Smaller size, popular scale(in general, not so much Macross outside of plamo), and compared to most other Macross toys aside from Revoltech and Toynami's 1/100 line, VF HI METAL has the cheapest price for a nearly perfect transformation Valk toy with minimal diecast content.
  22. I think their strategy was to release something ASAP and have most of the major players released(and milk molds) before movie 1's premiere. Then, knowing that they have the license that no one else can have a for a long while, revise/redesign/redo the DX VF-25, and release it a little before, or coinciding with movie 2. Then, knowing fans weren't satisfied with the VF100's line, bide their time with a VF HI METAL VF-25, and release it either after movie 2, or for the 30th anniversary of Macross in 2012. Either way, I think they are prioritizing around significant mile-stones and media tie ins. Also, the OP asked if a Yamato VF-25 would make the VF-25 any more popular. I don't think it would. I just think that people won't stop clamoring for a great VF-25 toy until someone gets it right.
  23. I think the YF-19 will make it out, as for the 21, I think if it got as far as tool cutting stage, then it will make it out one way or another. If it never made it past resin stage, then I'd worry. I don't think the economic situation(s) is going to change for a while....so I'm crossing my fingers Bandai keeps on with the VF HI METAL line. Of all their recent Macross lines, toy-wise, this seems to have done the best.
  24. Were many of the joints ratcheted/detented?
