well. Mike in AC3, you find out that your character is actually just an AI. I HOPE this doesn't count as a spoiler this time since most of you played this game and concluded it sucks. What turned me off was the fact that there were no cockpits in the planes thuis signifying your just a computer program AI. Which pretty much sucks. Some of the missions were cool and the blurred replay mode was AWESOME. But fighting some crappy aurora and the WAY to predictable AI even in hard mode....it was ab big turn off. As well as not having the whole story. By all means my friend who has the jp version says the jp version is actually well done unlke the US one, which was gutted of story sadly. What I like about tornado ECR is that it can STILL do A2G!! no gun but still an awesome plane!! And tornadoes look awesome anyways, I LOVE the ace sceme for it in AC4!!

the joystick or the game? How can the game pale in comparison its a totally different genre! Guys I came up with possible tornado's in the game since it is known the IDS or GR1 is in it. Tornado Gr1>ADV F.3>ECR now being that the growler is in this game I feel it would be awesome if the ECR was too! and the tornado pic I saw had desert pink. Did the RAF use desert pink on their ADV's or did the Saudi's do too? I can't remember but I just know whenever I see that scheme I think gulf war era IDS or ADV.

HEH. Funny how the iranians know how to use OUR top carrier borne fighter more than the hornet mafia and dick cheney do! In fact all US kills with the tomcat are all short range as well. only 1 sparrow hit a target in the 89 encounter and the other kill was a swinder'. In 81 both kills were with the swinder' as well. Now the MI-8 hip kill was either guns or swinder'. The time tomcats from teh US DID fire the phoenix was during 98-99 against iraqi migs but the missles missed. Did you guys ever wonder what might have happened had the revolution in iran NOT happened? More ADVANCED export tomcats! AND perhaps enough funds for the F-14C(back then and F-14B PW engine) and eve tomcat 21!!! Oh well. BTW iran's former air force once ruled but now I am sure saudi arabia and israel could take them out easily. Their main fighter now is the phantom i believe...due to the lax in getting supplies for it worldwide.

David, was the CCV ever designated the X as well? Because a recon phantom in AC5 wouldn't make any sense....I mean what other plane could be recon? Well then again....theres ECM pods and such....Oh well I still hold hope its actually the CCV! An awesome plane. Too bad I do not know much about it. Amazing how the phantom can outrun the tornado. I knew the tornado and phantom were fast...the former known for low alt high speed penetration...but dang..just dang. BTW lightning pilots are KNOWN for destroying tornado units in mock inter squyadron combat in britain. Anyone find out if the F-8 is in the game?

Holy christ david you actually FOUND that book? where man?! I have checked barnes n nobles(which hasa dedicated osprey stand) but no joy!! aw man....3-4 planes at a time at some times? That means some tomcat crews could have been aces over n over again!! 159 kills?.....goodness...if that is true...you know what that means!! Our precious eagle would be UNSEATED as king of all teen fighter aceS!! David, did it mention how many tomcats were lost as well? And hikaru dude where did you get that picture? that is awesome!!!! As far as the last flyby I heard it was 25 back in the mid 80s. HOwever if they still got them up n running its amazing.....It really makes me wonder how much tail they would nail had the revolutioon not happened and iran was still an Ally of the US.

Hey guys. I am REALLY sorry for posting all the potential spoilers! Just wanted to share in the excitement., I mean the prospect of seeing the XFA-27...or something similar really got me since I LOVE the design! While I do think blurry was applied well to the trailer as well I just wish the music in game is all namco...and I think it is. I believe blurry was just applied by the fan who hosted the first clip. Yes the F-20 is confirmed. I forgot where but it is confirmed. Right now I am trying to figure out if the MIg-29A recieves upgrades(SMT hunchback/33/35) or if the MIg 1.44 makes an appearance. Heck the LFI or S-54 would be a GREAT addition! THe A-6 interests me. Right now it can be said that almost every plane earned in this game through progression has an upgrade of some sorts. So I wonder if we get a A-6B ironhand intruder, or a A-6F. THe F-4X gets me confused. To my understanding its the canarded prototype. Only one was made. it also had digital FBW. It would make sense. After all out of all the F-4 variants(besides the VG proposal) it is the mos drastic and different looking. Howver I wouldn't mind a USAF F-4G wild weasel! After hearing more music I can say for certain someone from 2 and 4 is working on it, if not the same team. and now that i think about it....since the Fb-22 is in teh game...how about the YF-23>YF-23 regioonal bomber!!

kinda old news. As we all know macross became a cash cow for takatoku but they also went belly up bankrupt. While these might ahve seen light of day had takatoku not gone bakrupt, this si actually old news. At macrossworld in the mags or toy section, these very ads were scanned in years back by either shawn or graham. BTW since you haven't seen it yet, check out those scans that show the proposed takatoku super and Super O and ELint seeker...with long noses.

Some levels or points in 4 are same in 2 and 5. the demon of razgrir isn't a shadow govt, it's the new enemy ace of this game. Think yellow 13 only AC5=demon of razgrir. They say this dude is from the north sea so I have a feeling he will be mainly ambushing naval flights. They also say there is a traitor in the game. All this is from that one new trailer. Also said is that bartlett either dies or is shot down, afterwards they tell nagase to lead but she says "no blaze will lead and I will cover, I'm not losing another flight lead". Blaze is the character that you play. Sadly the new trailer plays "blurry" by puddle of mud. I wanted to here soem in game music and I hope to hell this new game has NO pop music whatsoever!!! F-4X is the experimental F-4 with canards. in one of the first trailers they say somethjing like "yea the old war 15 years ago". According to many ace combat sites and forums, the war mentioned is Ace comba 2. And nagase in AC5 ius supposedly Edge from Ace combat 2(the girl wingman). But yea she looks rather yopung to be flying 15 years earlier though.....

Hasbroken canard and slanted vert stabs. Long nose. It can be either one but being thatAC2 is the war referenced "15 years ago" in teh trailer when lookin@ plane they say "wow they still make these:? or something like that. There is also one moer F-4 variant besides the E/X I think the Tornado ADV F.3 is in the game as wel as mirages.

Not to mention the marine D is the dedicated WILD WEASEL multiroler as well!! It would kick ass leading a strike in with 2 D's and 2 EA-18G's for total OWNAGE of defense suppression. Sadly I see no sgns of a YF-17. Mike I like your idea of the AF117X and the NATF in teh game. Lets hope they do this!

Hey guys anyone know if it was ever confirmed that sukhoi modded the F-14s? I hear the russians were trying to add AL-31F's with a glass cockpit as well. This stems from one iranian F-14 defecting to iraq and ending up in russian hands somehow. Anyhoo I am sure Iran's tomcat force is nothing like it was before the revolution. Got a new vs Su-30MKI vs Mig-29SMT and antyone ever see pics of the proposed Mig-35?(advanced fulcrum with canards....not the later Mig 1.44/42 when some people mislabeled that mig-35 as well)

I think this is a great idea---if you really like a plane, you can get better versions of it. Wonder if you still have to save up money to pay for them, or buy weapons like in AFDS? That's sounds like it could be a good idea, as long as it's F-15 to F-15S/MTD, and not F-15 to F-22. I mean, I'm cool with the F-15, but I'd rather fly other planes. My favorite planes, though, are the two ATF. I'd love to see more X-planes, like the X-44, or even concepts like the VG wing F-22 and F-117 that were being considered for the Navy. David, while I understand that someone who loves real planes as much as you do would be really turned off by the fruity totally fiction designs in Ace Combat 3, it's really a shame that you couldn't have kicked back with a fictionally upgraded real-world fighter and gotten into it. I was actually dissapointed a little with Ace Combat 4, because while I liked the gorgeous visuals, real-world fighters, and more military less sci-fi story, the fact that it was half as long and filled with mostly ho-hum average missions after a game as long and with as much variety in missions as Ace Combat 3. Mike it works EXACTLY how you want it too! Here is how it goes. You gain ACCESS to differnet planes like the flanker and F-15 as you progress through the game. Now to get the UPGRADED flankers or eagles, you havbe to keep scoring enough kills in the base plane in order to upgrade it. So More money=access to plane More kills=upgrade the plane And yea so far this is what I got F-15C>E>ACTIV F-22>FB-22(concept) I know it progresses for legacy to super hornet but not sure if this includes the EA-18G or if the platypus is an upgrade flanker but according to the growth tree @acecombat.jhp this seems to be right. And why they put a SU-37 instead of a SU-30MKI boggles my mind. The IAF were able to choose provisions from the 37 and put them onto the MKI and it has BETTER thrust vectoring!! 37 only vectors in pitch axis, MKI and vector in ANY axis! Plus much more stuff. MKI is actually the most deadly flanker in the skies now. And THIS actually got produced for the Indian Air Force!! I believe now the Russian Air Forc3e is geting Su-27SMK's and Mig-29SMT(hunchback) and already have regular SU-30MK. David, @gamespot, they have a new interview with the director/producer of ace combat that shows footage of the game along with mainly an F-5!!!! The F-20 is CONFIRMED in the game....so perhaps .. F-5E>F>F-20? F-5E>F-20>X-29? BTW OA-10B night attack warthog is in game as well. Mike, me personally I think ace combat 3 lacked the charisma and overall FUN that ace combat 2 had and later ace combat 4 had as well. Ace combat 3 had way too predictable AI even on the hardest setting and only on song stuck out. I am sure tha japanese version was way better but I never got a chance to play it. People say it was decent. I mean not only did they leave the most ultimately greatest god like plane eever convieved by man(F-14 Tomcat) they also put in a super hornet instead, which is like the worst thing you could ever do to the Ace combat franchise. LOL. But seriously though the gameplay and blurred replay were cool ace combat 3 seemed too much like a shell of a game rather than an actual game. PErhaps they should add a ported version of the japanese AC3 in a future ace combat game. Hell implement the F-14 and add COCKPITS. ! Lord knows with pS2 they got enough diskspace since its Dvd format!

wAnna know why black panther "blackman" chappy james ruled? Aside from flying with wolfpack and commanding part of it(i think?) he also RECOMMENDED and I believe fought hard for the F-14 long range interceptor for the ANG!!! Yes he did~!! It looks rather unique its got thsi huge ass fuel bump on it's underside. Real cool looking and unique though nnot as sexy as the tomcat in navy service. So so far only one of you ordered the flight stick bundle. IMHO if the flight modeling is not as realistic as AFDS then....I dunno i cant see myself getting the stick..besides its pricey.

GAMESPOT HAS NEW VIDEOS!!! Including a director/producer interview!! Anyhoo Arcade missions are timed....some 3 minutes...where if you shoot special planes you get more time added. Arcade mode is for those who want to fly solo(no wingmen) and want a cheap thrill. He says if your good you can probably get it done in an hour. As you progress new planes are unlocked but for certain planes with upgraded variants, you need kills to earn the upgrade(aka Su-27>Su-34>SU-37) b ut you have to have enough money as well!. The music KICKS ASS. AC2 type soundtrack? YES!! God I love hearing rock again in AC!! SOme missions in story mode 30+ are BRANCHING but for the most part linear.

I can stand the wings, its not a Yamato fault, there is a lot of anime magic involved in the VF-0 wings, they are really short in Battroid mode., i think they just used the first CG model of the Vf-0S for sculpt the wings as they are shorter that the actual wings in the oav. What i'm not happy is the nose, its too small and they have not excuse for this! The head isn't a problem i'm sure it can be fix, remember that we'll get the "A" variant too. And remember that the 1/48 vf-1 shapes aren't perfect too I'm pretty sure that there isn't (or very little) anime magic in the vf-0D delta wings, so make that damn D variant!!! I can't understand this perfect transformation smania, will you really play with a 150$ PT toy? even if the 1/48 have PT the transformation isn't really fast and I need a table to do it without damages and avery time I have to detache fastpacks and weapons, it have stability problems due to its size too. This Vf-0S is a posable action figure that you can assemble as fighter, gerwalk or battroid, if you are going to just expose it what change swap or PT? will i play with a 150$ PT toy? HELL YES!! I play with my 148 a lot and you cant tell me its a fragile plastic model hybrid becaus it ISNT. Every model kit I have owned is broken. I put my 1/48 to abuse more so than my model kits, and WHY is it still NOT broken? To me PT is better for playability, less parts to keep track off and lose, and everything STAYS togethger without worrying where the other parts are. With PT you can play with it on the fly. Why is bandai still popular at macrosworld? Because of that sole reason. I am sure if the banprestos were higher quality in sculpt and plastic qc most macrosworlders would have bought boatloads buy now. displaying is a waste of time. I play with my toys..DIsplay when I am busy. This VF-0 toy? Don't cut it. I need me bigger scale and if partswap, MINIMAL. I mean hell do you all even realize this toy needs more part swapping then the 1/.100 bandai fire valkyrie model kit? that is SAD! Which design is MORE complex here? sad i tell ya. SAD.

I don believe it does. They say the "war 15 years ago" refers to ace combat 2. THe arcade mode supposedly has unlockable planes and so far I have seen only the F-22. They say 2 player mode has it's OWN maps too!

they know say arcade mode is a quasi sequel to AC4 where a year after the final megalith battle, remnants of uh whoever you fougght in part 4, try to retake their country and you as ISAF have to destroy the remnants of the enemy. That joystick...expensive and where to put where to put!!
