well. COnsidering that character art wasn't really important before in AC series, I am not too dissapointed. The planes look awesome and so do the backgrounds..and thats what counts. THey can make all the mistakes for a cutscene in the world but as long as gamegraphics are still good, I am content. BTW guys supposedly there is a new trailer out.

I wish there was an option to play WITHOUT wingmen!! Perhaps a ACE mode difficulty? I want the feeling of completing MY part of the mission on my own. Not HAVING to use wingmen!! Hopefully they work like AC2 and don;'t get in the way...but as far as the demo...I think I have been proven wrong. Next Ace combat BETTER have good standalone play as well as GREAT multiplayer online and offline.

I usually tyell them to disperse. IF you tell them to yuse special weapon they all go after your plane. Well if story mode gets us pissed, arcade mode shall be short salvation. Hoipefully you yourself can damage them too. They took far too many kills away from me and i tried hitting them to no avail.

A lot earlier during the year namco said they didnt do online yet(in EGM) since they wanted to explore squad based combat. I think this is a precursor guinea pig to an online ace combat. Online I think the same control scheme could be used, squads of 4 playing with up to 16 players. ujp to 3 wingmen per player.

I think it is fair to compair but howevewr that would belong in my super vs thread. Anyhoo the MKI has 2 crewmen and western avionics as well as the vectoring in ANY direction. 37 only has 2D. I know you cant buy the 37, in AC2, you can only get the 35. the 37 was annoying since all they did was cobra. IGN said namco said there was no time to implement multiplayer........which sucks being that earlier they said there would be unloackable maps specificially for 2 player mode.

bad news guys!! According to IGN, there is NO MULTIPLAYER WHATSOEVER!! Oh well. 2 player vs in AC4 kinda sucked anyways due to cheap ass fights and wack controls. But man....ugh i still miss it!!

I don't believe they will either. There is still plenty of demand, I believe if just one more run of each of the 1/48s, save the Hikaru VF-1A should still sell excellently and in a modest amount of time now that also RT fans know that there is a better valk out there. I still can't believe that some people are just beginning to discover the 1/48s. Those 1/48 molds are worth more than all the gold in Fort Knox to Yamato. Hopefully they realise this. You know, it doesn't necessarily have to be Yamato. If Bandai were to do a COMPLETE overhaul of their VF-17, and if it 1/ looked good 2/ transformed perfectly 3/ high quality, then I wouldn't mind buying from Bandai any day. I think I speak for all of us when all we are looking for is the best transformable toy out there of a VF-X. they DO realize that. I think they are basically learning from Bandai's mistakes and basically now for BOTH companies it is the waiting game. bandai with their new sculpt heads and such, that stuff costs money so I think they are just implementing them when the time and nostalgia kicks in once again. Timing is the key for both companies to make profit. Once people start craving durability and old school feel again, thats when I think bandai will do reissues with teh features xstoys mentioned. all they need more so is thigh swivel and missles and BAM. I think i might like it more than 1/.48. its all about timing. Yamato has learned from bandai and takatoku. they wont screw up in the same ways IMHO.

Trial missions to me were just cheap thrills. SO when I heard AC5 arcade mode is almost like arcade air combat 22, and plus being that it s a quasi sequel to AC4, I was overjoyed!!! THis shall totally blow trial mission from AC4 out the water! Hey David. When you play the AC5 demo, more Ac4, and more AFDS can you do a detailed flight model comparison? BTW YF-23 tears mucho tail in AFDS. CAn't wait to use it in AC5!!!(wth an internal gun?i HOPE!!) BTW hopefully replays are on par with AFDS

hmmm Seems to me namco once again neglected the MKI. in favor of the Su-37. Oh well. I remember back in AC2 when Su-37s were cheap as hell and would piss me off. ANd the main plane then was the SU-35. Ac3 namco finally got the point with teh 37. AFDS HOWEVER gave the MKI some love!! DAvid did you get it yet? Ruth has it. IT has black grey and white camo for "other" scheme. She also has the SU-35...which somehow is more manueverable in game for some reason. Goodness AFDSS has so many flankers!! first upF-22!!! F-22s only advantage ove rthis plane is stealth, supercruise, acceleration, and ability to max out AMRAAM range 2x normal by launching@mach 1. SU-27 w/russian avionics/cockpit=POOR SA/PWNED SU-30MKI w/FRENCH/israeli/western avionics/cockpit=butter on bread. When playing flanker on pc the only thing I hated was the avionics. I feltt it was a good fighter for it's size, deadly in fact close in, however now that the MKI has WESTERNN avionics and displays.....dear god...

WHOA is ADF-01 even accessible? and what does it look like? I too agree with your loadouts. IF loadouts and flight modeling were like a simplified Jane's sim like USAF or IAF only more simple for console, this sim would RULE!! (loadouts in those games are limited to what the plane in reality can carry). Yea AC5 demo is confusing man. Sometimes almost too easy with special weapon. the view controls are confusing I keep pressing D pad on accident instead of R3. BTW if we get more than one A-6....this game will rock more!! A-6E>A-6F>EA-6B?

MEh the only GOOD thing my country's air force has done besides flying the crusader was WANTING to buy the F-20 tigershark. Surplus falcons would be GREAT. I mean hell least then we would have a comparable modern fighter. At LEAST! Hell vietnam an some other souteast asian countries got flankers now. So yea. IN air supremacy. We'd get owned ...BAD. I'd even settle for ex ANG F-15A's. BTW did you guys see the 2 seat ECM viggen?. It's pretty nice!!

From what I remember it's weapon/special weapon/sensor. Although that DOES look like a rocket pod!(and hoppefully so!). BTW that must be the A-6F!! it's got sidewinders on the outboard pylons, which to my knowledge A-6A-E Never had!

definitely a 70s-80s Pilot helmet. Newer ones have less tubing but more of a bigger mouthpiece.

I played AFDS last night as well, and couldnt help but realize...man this flight modeling is AWESOME compared to AC4!!! sure some control surface animations are off...but overall I know a 2 player vs mode in AFDS would so OWN ac4!!!! AC5 will definitely be the best more so if it's flight modeling can take on AFDS'. David did you get the F-108 RApier in AFDS? holy crap its FAST!! Don't even try turn fighting in that thing!(one of the GREAT things I love about AFDS.....what you cant do well in real life...you cant do here!!! like in AC4 A-10 a super sonic fighter? ) IF AC5 had the cockpit format of lethal skies II it would be great as well!!(so far that game has the best cockpit views)

I think they do offer export witht eh gripen. BTW i believe my country was trying to by superhornets but I am not sure. Sad to say my hometown(va beach) has a more powerful airforce (NAS oceana) than my country's own air force LOL!! THis is true!!! F-5's vs F-14/F/A-18C/D/F?!!! I truly believe yamato will not STOP producing valks, just space them out more and time them when demand reaches an all time high. Will we get a bigger perfect variable VF-0? An SV-51? I think we will once demand in japan goes high. Yamato owes its fans but mainly in japan. We gotta keep in mind we are NOT the target audience, the japanese fans are since they are able to buy them with relative ease where as we have to import them. The oplder demographic in japan loves them for sure but its a business for toys, so once the drought keeps going, it'll pick up once again with bandai racing against yamato to put out the first VF-1 toy. I am sure this is what bandai has been waiting for after all. Toynbami is out of the fray. So yamato is the only thing bandai has to worry about. Once fans start clamoring for more durability and if bandai adds a thigh swivel, HCM style gunpod, new head and pilots+wing missles to their 1/55(mod it) then I am sure they would justify retail price. I doubt yamato would be dumb enough to disregard their 1/48 molds and the macross franchise which made them a bigger name. Just use it when time is right.

heh hey david i skimmed through that thread and couldn't find anything anyways. Ya know I really hope TWO PLAYER mode is better this time. LAst time it kind of sucked. It was basically like this. "if a missle is launched hold R1 and keep turning" So with that in mind battles would go on FOREVER. Until someone got tired of holding the Dstick and caved. OR someone used the QAAM. If the flight modeling is vastly superior and more difficult than ace com,bat 4, then 2 player versus mode shall be a reall nice treat!

we got 3 weeks to find out! I certainly hope this game takes long as hell to complete. AC4's main flaw was that it was short. and something tells me wingman implementation and commands is reminscent of a online game. SO hopefully the next AC IS online! (BTW guys I have been designing patches latlely...anyone want to see?)

dude i had no ideea!! Holy crap!! Hmm..well that changes my view for the better...a LITTLE lol. But damn guns only? sheesh it has been a while since I played this then!! Hey guys. What WERE the secret planes to unlock in AC3? I do like the GUI for the menus and such....but I do remember hearing the secret planes sucked. I think I ended with the SU-47. and....did anyone get a good summary for the story in that game? and it;/s ending? I never did. Best I could do was unlock the anime opening. DElphinusIII i liked., Nonetheless I still think AC4 was way better!! and 5 even more so. HEY since the arcade mode is so much LIKE Ace combat 2 in teh arcade(3 min+ more time with each consecutive kill) do you think this game will actually be in the arcade? It's been a few years since this happened! ANd hell tekken 5 lets you put a memory card from a PS2 into the arcade machine I believe...what if an arcade ace combat could do this too? Ah well. I am sure we can all save money just buying it for PS2. Although it would be real swell to see one in the arcade.

I th8ink it does, it just lacks some of the sensors and ECM equipment/jammers that we have. My "ultimate book of modern warplanes" book I bought @ waldenbooks has a pic of it with a huge load of orange bombs. Looks real neat. BTW guys did you guys here that the IAF F-16's are going to take on the Indian AF's SU-30MKI's in joint exercises next year? It's going to be awesomE!!!!

macross and macross plus and DYRL and mac0 are all aimed at oolder audiences. Macross 7 was aimed at kids. Oringinally it was going to feature hikaru and misa being found by fleet 7 but it didn't . What I think a lot of people don't realize is that macross 7 might have been kawamori's middle finger to those who doubted him and his reasoning might be (thats right I CAN do anytyhing I want!) Most of it sucks though IMHO. I just like the blazer and diamond sqn valks. But those were never given much screen time compared to sound force. Fire was nice but the way it was used? MY ASS!

Well...the saudi's have 2 kills agaibnst the iranians...but aside from that they still get US support and have the F-15S. Then again hardware does not dictate skill so who knows. It's impressive of the book. I will buy it if I can find it.(VA gets everything last arrrr). There is also a book out on the A-7 corsair units navy in vietnam!! Surprised it wasn't mentioned. I will probably get that too. Did anyone read osprey's cryusader mig killers book? It's pretty good! I think one crusader pilot also has the distinction of being the ONLY prisoner to escape from the pathet lao in laos!
