  1. Oh that was just a hypothetical question. I know the E gets the uprated engines and strength capacity upped to 9G. Do the CFT's really add that much weight to make the mud hen underpowered even in full a2a Loaudout? I know it's primary mission is strike but it is a dual role fighter after all. F-104ASA sounds awesome.
  2. Hmm. I guess F-4E vs F-104S or whichever is the best starfighter. I rarely hear about it. What is it known for? Ok some more Su-35 vs EF-2000 F-16D israel vs F-16F UAE. capabil;ity and knife fight F-15E vs F-15C knife fight( weird but what the hay should be interesting) Do strike eagles ever operate in pure a2a? They've got the capability.....
  3. Hmm I don't think I have seen that wings episode. Man that show needs to come back to discovery channel instead of this digital cable crap. UGH. best show for airplanes on tv EVAR. More debates. F-4G wild weasel vs F-16D wild weasel(israeli and US) Who is better@ SEAD? Mirage 2000 vs F/A-18E knife fight.. MIG-29M2 vs F/A-18D marine. Overall capability and knife fight EF-2000 vs F-16F vs F/A-18F vs MIG-29M2 F-104 vs F-4. Knife fight and intercept MIG-23 vs Tornado F3 Discuss!!! Also the best high viz super bug I have found recently is the VFA-14 showbird. HIGH VIZ IN MASS AMOUNTS!! Unlike minimal amounts on others.
  4. David how long is the DVD? Is it worth the money? Anything awesome on it? Crap. I read at abovetopsecret.com(very very very skeptical on this site for various reasons) that some of the members contaced the museums and it's on loan either to northrop or somewhere else(PAV-II).
  5. the 1/60 wasn't based on any previous toy. The bandai model kits are more similar to the HCM, the HCM in turn was based on the 1/72 imai variable kits before bandai in turn got the molds. I doubt the 1/60 was based on the IHP. IHP was full variable and perfect/canon transformation. 1/60 was trying to be canon but also emphasized aesthetics over transformation. Hence no perfect variability. It was mainly made to match the animation models at all costs, so of course logic says that aesthetics was chosen over anything else. Not to mention perfect variability is very hard to do on a toy that size, henceforth the 1/48 fixes everyting that was missing from the 1/60(detail, perfect variability). Not to mention the sculpt of the 1/60 does not mimic any hasegawa or resin kit and nowhere near a bandai 1/72 imai mold.
  6. WHOA is that report totally confirmed? i've heard similar but I hope to hell it is true!! What is PAV-2? And in AC5, the FB-22 is available, but whether or not this is the "true" F-22 RFB is anyohnes guess. It was one of the proposals for the F-22 but the latest I saw had all vectoring and no stabilizers.
  7. It just looks so plain.....I mean I duno the falcon loadout is simply better than the hornet loadout on BBI. But, sparrows on the intake wells would INSTANTLY change my mind. Hopefully BBI mkes some big F-14s with TONS of weapons included to make it a bombcat or interceptor. Heck add in a TARPs pod for armed recon. Knight do you think there would be minimal retooling for BBI to make a F-16D and F/A-18D marine?
  8. Goodness that is incredibly stupid. Ther typhhoon is an amazing fighter and I think even if some will primarily be strikers, the gun should retain the wiring in the "gunless versions" since who knows, it might be pounced when it is egressing from it's target. After all a couple of F-105's gunned down migs with their vulcan after getting jumped from their targets/.
  9. knight 26, THANKS!! I was at home on dialup and even then i waited for pics to load. It was well worth it~~!!!! I am probably getting a 1/18 jet for my bday since this x mas i think I am concentrating on some japanese transformers. However I am random so who knows. Tha loadout on the BBI hornet irks me. At least the power team F-18, was a 2 seater, and had 2 HARMs, 2 fuel drop tanks, 2 sidewinders, and 4 mk82s on dual palettes(ALL REMOVABLE!!) Oyut. I have that and for a joe sized toy that was 10$(somehow i got a spring discount) it was WELL WORTH it. Even though I can no longer fold the wings since I braced them due to accidental if not very stupid breakage on my part. Very awesome still though. The BBI is wonderful though. I just wish it had a better loadout. Do ANY legacy hornets go to war in that loadout? Man. I wonder if the weapons from the falcon are swappable. The falcon at least has a better loadout and totally reaks of "MUltirole" which is awesome. Outside pics would be WONDERFUL, especially if you can shoot some comparison pics with other gijoe jets like the skystriker or conquest.
  10. Hey guys. Does anyone know for sure that some eurofighters are having the gun deleted? I think this is a dumb idea. I don't know for sure but a lot of the magazines I read say that the gun will deleted in all but one version. I look to jane's in the campus library but they don't talk about it. I think the tornado is a wonderful plane but what's with this being different tranches? Wasn;t it supposed to be a dedicated multiroler from teh outset? Also., The Tornado E3B or whatever its called. Can it still do fighter ops or is it strictly ECR-like? And does anyone know if orders were placed for the MIG-29M2? That's a beautiful aircraft. I dunno, I just have a thing for 2 seaters. And for sake of random battles. F/A-18D(marines version) vs F-15E Which is the better multirole striker/bomber? Which is better in dogfighting?
  11. yea, its the new joe F 22. skystriker reissue plans are cloudy & people doubt it can pass the mandatory 8ft drop test. So for now the thunderwing will do. The pilot, slipstream is a new mold who is a new version of the X-30 conquest pilot, who now flies the F-22. Ace got the shaft and flies a tigerhawk...which is a semi POS. Dunno if we will see the skystriker reissued but last i heard hasbro was cleaning the molds. Maybe 05, i HOPE. Still wondering if I should purchase a 1/18...ohd ecisions...
  12. So the one you saw wasn't official? Hmnmm. I really wish grumman could let us at least have a peek into the official design layouts at least. Like some profile views. I mean with the big cat retiring, it would be nice to at least know "what could have been". Always makes phantom and crusader discussions interesting. I just have a fascination with cancelled planes or planes that never made it off the drawing board.
  13. It's cool man, just wondering. No rush, take your time!! I'm still trying to figure out whether I should get one for x mas. I know I'm getting the gijoe thunderwing, but....ehhhh man a 1`/18 jet is so tempting....
  14. Guys. That time of year again. Winter Wonderfest. Granted, yamato barely shows anything macross, but still they will be there. Anyone going and giving coverage?
  15. Knight, when would we be able to see pics from you? I mean no rush, but just wondering so all of us can look forward to it. And anymore review sites for 1/18 jets and props? I have a real hard time trying to find therm!! Also, just how heavy is this hornet?
  16. Nied, from the pic I saw, I can see why it could never be made from existing F-14.s The ASF-14 was really a whole new beast onto itself. It's lke giving the ST21 a facelift. The super hornet looks like amn updated legacy hornet in some way. However the ASF-14 truly comes off as a whole new plane, that could in fact pass as not even related to the tomcat. Extended gloves, made the nose look a whole lot shorter. It did resemble some of the early swing wing lockheed JAST proposals before it became JSF, but the ASF-14 was very very unique in its own way. Ewilen did the site owner get back to you with more pics of the ASF-14?
  17. Well It was either in a magazine or a website. It may have been a dedication magazine to the tomcat in 2003, I am not sure. I do not think it is what you mentioned Nied. although I am aware of the issue you speak of with flankers replacing super bugs. ST-21 and quickstrike would have minimal external changes, but internally would give it nuke capability, more weapons stores, and be more like a naval F-15E equivalent. ASF-14 is the design which was the most radical and could NOT be made from existing F-14A's unlike the above models I mentioned. It was also the most expensive. Put it this way. ST-21 was the best tomcat, for better bang for the buck. ASF-14 was if the navy wanted near ATF capability for a cheaper price than the F-22. Quickstrike was a simplified ST-21. Where as ST-21 had fowler flaps and such, ASF-14 had a totally different looking front fuesalage and glove area.
  18. Ewilen, that's not it either. I am aware of the NATF and think it is lovely. Same with ST21. However ASF-14, I only saw the blueprint linework of it, and it had enlarged/extended gloves, and a nose that flowed with it, so when swept wings back, it looked more like a delta more so than it does now. It definitely had stealth characteristics. The ST21 looks more conventional than it.
  19. Skull Leader, That only shows the ST21. ASF-14 looks completely different. Barely anyone I know of has even seen it. I wish I could remember where I saw it though. It looks like swing wing stealth delta. It have to have been the most expensive and different looking compared to other tomcats.
  20. JAnes' F-15 Janes IAF Jane's USAF Before my old pc crashed and my dad banned me from playing anymore flight sims(did that instead of schoolwork and chores lol), those were my FAV sims. I hear Flanker 2.0 is awesome but the flight model from flanker 1 is better. F-15 is SWEET. If you are used to flanker, this one sends you back to the books. It's much harder since it does not have AOA or G limiters. You can pull real fast and immediately do a 12 g turn but at the same time loose a TON of airspeed within one seccond and stall. You have to discipline yourself to fly an fight in it, it is very hard compared to those used to the FBW flight control systems of the F-22, F-16, F-18, MIG-29 and typhoon. But that makes it very fun at the same time. Dynamic campaign and AI is pretty good. Being ambushed by 12 MIG-29s SUCKS. Especially if they got Adder missles. F-22 TAW and Eurofighter 2000 V2.0 are real sweet also.
  21. RF-5E is awesome since it still retains gun and other armnaments. Real nice looking. I saw a lot of the ATF proposals and They look way different than what was actually produced. Still no sign of ASF-14 pics aside that one time I either saw it in a mag or forum. MAN it's not even on MATS!!!! Hey guys I'm busy with finals, but want to see a F-8 modernized update design I came up with? I got it in my head btu I can sketch tomorrow and scan and post here if you all would like. I know from what knight said it would require massive adjustments but I figure hell it would look cool, so I mineswell post it here someday.
  22. Seems to me, the tiger would have to do a com, bination of zooming high and diving like hell at a steep angle to take on the A-4SU. Me myself, I like the F-5 Tigereye armed recon fighter. It looks aweosme with that weird nose. My fav production variant tiger. Tigershark is tons better though. Anyone see the MIG-29M2? Acig.org got some pics. It looks TONS better than the MIG-29UB. I mean the M2 is a 2 seater but has a longer nose than the UB and it actually looks right. Very menacing and beautiful.
  23. LOL here we go! Some of us macross valk buyers turned 1/18 buyers. But yes I do believe it is likely the F-16 will be painted in thunderbirds paint scheme being that the hornet eventually was painted as a blue angel. Badcataviation.com seems to be the best place to buy these toys, and the hornet blue angel is still in stock I believe.
  24. The sklystriker still tears that one another hole though. I remember crying in new york for that thing. nearly 20 years later I feel stupi for doing so. I think I should hug my bandai super valk reissue to erase that memory. YEA it needs a hug.
  25. Man I want to see some 70's NAM era fighters in 1/18 scale like... -F-4E SE Asia camo (USAF) -A-7D SLUF SE Asia camo -High viz A-4E navy (from oriskany?) -VF-111 F-8 -VF-111 F-4 or VF-96 phantom J -F-105D THUD. THE WORKHORSE AND VERY AWESOME. A WILD WEASEL F MODEL WOULD BE EXCELLENT AS WELL. -F-14A in VF-1/VF-2 Wolfpack& bounty hunter versions high viz(from operation:frequent wind 1975). A-4 and F-8 would be easy to make since they are relatively small compared to the phantom and thud (close to F-16 if not smaller for the scooter).
