It's an ABS version of the Metal material strike gundam sans internal skeleton. -
Small as visors, gundam sentinel like proportions, gundam sentinel is awesome btu stuff like that on a valk body, ick. Heck mayb e like the O in gundam. yea that is a better comparison. I agree with the unique style thing. Great artists are known for their style, not their attempts to mimic one. LIke I said before some pseudo manga is good but I just don't like the artists works on the new robotech comics. I think that is a case of watered down. I mena yea sure Long Vo and Udon do street fighter but to be honest I thought those books just had good covers. The art did not catch me.

STAR WARS EP III PICS
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Mechleader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I couldn;t get past it either until I saw how cool the ship looked once I realized the fueselage was a lot longer than it seems. Cool looking toy though. I think it is a little better than the one in EPII. OVerall none of the ships look as cool as the starfighter. 3 pilots, huge wings, and its a huge ship to begin with, TOTALLY awesome. And it has russian like dual tandem seating, AND a gunner!! -
IM An illustration major which is why I have certain tastes which I see unfulfilled with this book., i am also a big military aviation nut. I also LOVE mecha artwork. I am aware these people are from wildstorm but none of them are exactly "up there". The Jim lee cover is good and someone elses but the majority of these suck. I don't hate the artist, I hate the work. Perspective is off and so is anatomy. I don't place any of these guys on the same level as Joe NG, jaCk Kirby, Jeff Matsuda, or Masamune Shirow. Or kaoru Shintai. Shintai's work is awesome, here is someone who KNOWS what airplanes look like. Shirow has good work too, he comes from a traditional art background. It's obvious he knows his stuff too. The robotech guys seem like amateurs in comparison. You want to see good people drawings take a look at Frank Cho, and ack Kirby. Why do I say this work is BS's and rushed? Why do I agree that it is trendriding? Because truthfully I do not think it is that good. Joe Ng, he is good. Don Figueroa, GREAT at mecha, not as good at people. I like some of Udon but they lost a lot of appeal. They were good on the onset but this market has been so freaking saturated with pseudo manga that their work started losing appeal to me. And Pat Lee? NO. Jae Lee, who worked on DW's tf/gijoe book, is TONS better. I hate the style Because it seems rushed, and it seems "forced". Forced as in WANTING to be a different anime look but not exactly getting there. I'm not getting worked up about this just trying to get you guys to see my frame of my mind. I normally ignore these books. When I heard HG gave the license I knew it was something to ignore. I knew it would suck. I saw for myself and it did. There are only a few people capable of doing a pseudo manga look and making it work and unfortunately these people are not it. Udon does good covers but interiors look like they are slacking off. To me that is not cool. This is all personal preference of course, but to me some of the work seems lazy. And I know all too well what lazy art and well made art is like, hell i'm exposed to it every day at school AND in free time. Always around it no matter what. Whoever drew these comics needs to know good anatomy as well and it kills me that even though this is bette than comico, that even after 20 years, WHOEVER HANDLES THE LICENSES IN THE USA STILL DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DRAW VALKYRIES THAT WELL!! UGH FOR CHRIST SAKE IF YOU ARE GOPING TO DRAW A VAL;KYRIE FOR GOD'S SAKE STUDY THE DAMN THING RELIGIOUSLY BEFORE YOU EVEN PICK UP A PENCIL AND DRAW IT! The license to me was a waste of time. Nothing personal just explaining my preferences. And yes it takes damn long as hell to do sequential art, I understand that, no need to school me like I said I'm in school for illustration and we do more than one can possibly imagine in a unbelievable span of time, and lose tons of sleep over it, so I definitely can tell if something is rushed or not.
-
It's not that WDC thinks he is better, it's just for illustrators, its really easy to spot who is rushing or bs'ing the art. Compared to the other comic art there in similar styled these guys cannot really stand a chance. ANd it is HORRID that TEMJIN's CG work is massacred by that horrible not drawn well pseudo manga hikaru and minmay. Absolutely disgraceful. I don't care how famous whoever the hell drew that is. HG made a big hype for this book and the art sucked. I even had high hopes for it and WHEN IN THE HELL IS SOMEONE IN THE COMIC BIZ ACTUALLY GOING TO DRAW AIRPLANES RIGHT FOR FREAKING SAKES?!!! The only good airplane comic art I have seen is Area88, Little Red Devil, and well I forget, oh yea whoever drew the planes in ultimates but that looked like photo drawings. Seriously I expect if one were to draw a mass market book with the main mecha being AIRPLANE VARIABLE CRAFT, for them to actually KNOW what a plane looks like. Sheesh. Battroid drawing there is pathetic too but thats a whole nother story.

Guy7s, anakin's preview starfighter is out now. Sirstevesguide.com has a gallery and action-figure.com has a review with pics as well. At first I thought it sucked but now that I see that it's frontal LERX section is actually not stubby, it looks decent!! Anyone buyit yet? I am more excited for the Starfighter. Which looks like an X wing on steroids with butterfly wings and 3 pilots. -

Either way that thing must be a huge comfort to hog pilots. LOOk!! MFD's FINALLY!! I love 2 seaters so I think the A-10B would be awesome, however it is awesome tha the C hog has what the B was intended to have aside from a WSO. BTW more debate fodder. F/A-18F vs MIG-29M and MIG-29K. close in and multirole capability. Battle of the high AOA! F/A-18F vs Typhoon. Another high AOA battle. Also I tend to think the typhoon may have a better multirole capability. Am I wrong? -
Should I get the Roy or the Hikaru vf-1s (1/48)?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to jfr01's topic in Toys
Hikaru's is more special to me since it is only used once in the anime. Plus I initially hated the red skull1 buyt the more I saw it, the more unique it seemed, so I like it. Hikaru was initially my fav character so with this it boils down to who you like more. If roy was your fav get his. -

Mass majority? It won't matter, what matters is what the japanese market want. Like I said before us, the USA market does not factor into yamato. Legally they can deal directly with us. Only with the fanboys over there and suppliers over in HK or japan like monkey N or Neova. And casual fans would buy this? I doubt that. yamato's PV 1/72 toys usually went for around 68oo yen, and that is not a low price. Especially since GUNDAM SEED DESTINY is a big ass name in japan and fans buy it up like humans need water, and even the GQ diecasts are a cheaper than yamatos old macross plus toys. And the majority of fans in japan want gundam not macross. Sad to say but it is true. I highly doubt casual fans would buy a YF19 or even the majority. Majority of the people here and the diehards yes but no casual fan would buy something so complex. -
Çhrist people yamato's are NOT that fragile!! I own a dragon wings 1/72 DIECAST metal F-16, and trust me THAT thing and hasbro alternators are a TON more fragile than a 1/48 and a 1/60. Those the 1.60 was meant to appeal to the diecast aircraft market it sure is a lot more durable! And 1.48? I could manhandle that thing into battroid in les than 2 minutes while I take 5 minutes worrying about not breaking my alternator smokescreen transforming to battroid. Yes I play with my toys. A lot. And yes I have models. All my models are broken. All my toys are not. This should say a lot alone.

Get the 1/48, but just steer clear of the BP8 part and make sure you don't push it past its stopper.

I don't imagine it is that bad. The pilot is kind of high up, and plus the canopy angles downward at a sharp angle, giving good over nose visibility. 2 seaters rule, I dunnno I just love the look! From VF-1D tyo F-14. F-15E/K/I, F-16D/F, F/A-18F/D,Su-30MKI,MIG-29M2UB.... The new A-10 has 2 MFD's, and GPS capability. -

Man I stayed away for the longest time But I think I might get back into gundam!! Guys can you post pics of your HCM pro collections? Try to convince me to get some!!!! Their small size I do not mind, but I hear they are tons better than MSIA. And though I collected MSIA for a good while, when I went to college that all ended since I bought more macross and transformers as well as gijoe. And I began to have a hatred or irritance to PVC. I started craving ABS and diecast much much more. The GQ gundams I am seriously considering~!!! The sword one is nifty and if they make some zakus I am seriously buying some. Heck post pics of your GQ gundams too!!! BTW does anyone here like the arch enemies line and MSIA better than the HCMpro series? I know they are much different but just wondering. And is the freedom gundam in SEED destiny any different than the one in SEED? -

Wait is it a sidestick? BTW guys. I know some of you still havbe some vintage 80s jet toys. Anyone have flying fighters, or the KBtoys KO flying fighters F-14s? Those all ROCKED. That and this one line of F-14s in tiger camo that I never had. I had some Force 1 including the AWESOME hornet mountain attack set, but that broke when I stepped on it. The SE Asia camo phantom was pretty cool as well. There was also a line of diecast MIG-31, EF2000(EAP since it had the weird zigzag BVR missle arrangement) and a blue angels F-18. Most of this was available in KB toys. and now? Now we have crappy airplane toys. Except the gijoe thunderwing. I mean come on, I hate those matchbox planes and crap that CANT move their wheels. Not the detailed WWii/vietnam ones, but skybusters. Yuck. And who can forget, RING RAIDERS!!!!! Those were AWESOME!! And they had mini balljoint STANDS!! So post discussion, comparisons and most of all PICS of any of these if you still have them~~~!!!! Also please post links to info on these toys!!(Shin regrets being really stupid during childhood, and realizes all these years that KBtoys kicked ass during the earl 90s) -

Aw man I wonder if KNIGHT26 knows about this!! This has got to make him happy!!! If we get a 2 seat version....droooool. This was certainly on the low, I haven;t even read about this in the magazines or net!! I wonder if they will improve the existing eagles and falcons too! -
HEy graham, It probably did sell more. I mean yamato basically revived a 6 year old anime and made 5 toys based on it!(2 FP versions). And yet with the relatively new in comparison macross 0 we have...nothing.

Actually from what I read, it's YAMATO's fault for bandai not doing anything. LOL but it is true. The japanese market LOVED the yamato's due to aesthetics and whatnot, I mean look at it, it is comparable to a model in aesthetics but you can PLAY with it!(even the 1/60 who in comparison to solid diecast 1/72 aircraft models, is tons more durable!!!). So with yamato macross being bought up by the fans in comparison to the bandai reissues gathering dust, bandai decided to not do anything. Really it's bandai's fault as well. They WAITED too long. I know if we got VF-1 reissues by either 1999 or 2000, that bandai would have had all of us creaming our pants minmei style and lbasking in the glorious cream of bandai reissues. But no we waited 2 years and by then yamato had something called the 1/60 VF-1, the first step in valkyrie evolution from a unsuspecting small company, the evolution continuing a year later with the 1/48. So in a sense bandai's line got killed twice over. Toynami was not much competition IMHO as people either loved the bandai or yamato but hated the toynami(general consensus). -
To me it is bcause it is based on a Russian design, the first of Kawamori's designs to do so. (arguably). That alone makes it awesome and I love russian sukhoi planes. And it's got canards and does not look like a coonventional valkyrie.

Is thAt a special unit of the IAF? Or a testing unit? This is very interesting. I remember feeling sad that the MIG-29M program could not go further in the late 90s due to budget cuts and restraints. but it's great to know that years later, it LIVES!!!!!! I kind of hope they give it canards and thrust vectoring just to see how it compares to the SU-30MKI. -

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Montarvillois's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hehe, not to be negative, but what makes you guys think yamato would even listen to us? Do you think they care for are ongoing rants, and wants for toys? Criticism for their toys and praise and all that does not matter. If they don't even listen to graham what makes you all think they will listen to us? Hasbro got many many complaints from older collectors about transformers energon and yet do you think galaxy force was made to please those who complained? NO! Made to cater to the 12 yr old + crowd and keep the market stable in fierce competition with video games. Point is, yamato caters to the JAPANESE MARKET. Are we it? Heck no we are not. BEfore, there was a time when we could voice our concerns to graham and that one dude from valkyrie scramble, but that dude ended up becoming a father, in between that time, yamato snubbed graham, and after all this, graham became a father himself. Seriously all we can really do is praise the toys and b*tch amongst ourselves, I highly doubt our numerous complaints on the 1/100 POS VF-0 canned it, if anything it was the extremely negative reaction by the japanese market. Remember we get everything here 2nd hand through the etailer who buy in bulk from supppliers who buy it themselves in japan. I find it funny that some of you think our constant rants drove yamato away from macross, and it's not even that. In japan macross is not exactly a goldmine, and hell this surprised me as well, but gundam seed destiny is actually popular there. Am I surprised? No. The long ride was fun but riddled with crappy quality every now and then with a decent number of gems in the lines. Yamato created the ultimate modern representation of the VF-1, and they can do it again with the VF-0. The only question is IF they will, and WHEN. And how do they figure this stuff out? Through PROFITS in the japanese market. If macross became merchandising brand with more series, and OVA's a movie every now and then, then yamato would milk it for all its worth. But wait OH YEA. We only got OVA's last time I checked and that was end of 2004. So give it time. Ultimately I don't think yamato would drop the macross license, but not necesarily milk it either. They've done their job. And they did well. So the world goes on and we at macrossworld discuss our toys. But please don't think our reactions really matter to yamato, since truthfully they don't. They will do what it takes to get money and all their money comes from the japanese market. Kind of OT sorry, and no offense to anyon either. Guys I got a question. Is the monster mor durable than the 1/48? -
I got a feeling yamato will pull off at least some macross 0 merchandise, and after that nothing for a while. And then some 1/60 and 1/48 reissues. Other than that I see them concentrating on other licenses. They did pretty well with the scopedog from all the reviews I read, even the diehards loving it. I just wish we could get a VF-0 that big, perfect variable. Hopefully they kill off the 1/100 VF-0 line and use the money for that and invest into r/d for a perfect variable VF-0. I'd be content!

Aircraft VS super thread!
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
hey FV, Though that was pretty long and informative, that kind of had nothing to do with aircraft aside from the fact that you mentioned bombers. That and it was mainly about political agendas and the forces behind it and whatnot. Which came to my attention since there's not supposed to be political discussions here. Don't get me wrong but it's just OT. I don't want this thread to derail into something about political mascinations behind the theories of war and whatnot. This thread is mainly for military aircraft and things directly related to it, like flight sims, model kits, jet art, stuff like that. The most politics we have ever come about with this is budget cuts and cancelled aircraft programs like the rumor that DIck CHeney had something to do with the super tomcat cancellation and debates of the like, but even then that whole debate was just a cleverly guised super hornet vs super tomcat debate, which as it seems, comes up very often. But bringing up political motivations for war and hidden truths behind them written by those who do independent research is just ultimately going to derail this thread into a while debate fest between those who support the govt, those who hate it, and those who want the thread back on topic. My point is, politics has no place in this thread. Now back OT. I was reading through aviation and space technology 2005 sourcebook. Apparently India has 7 MIG-29Ms!! I know they are procuring MIG-29K's(naval variant of the M), but when did THIS happen? Pretty ironic. They got Russia's best made fulcrums and flankers while russia on the other hand doesn't.
