  1. COmbat aircraft mag rules!! SO does WAP journal. Literally a book. lol That reminds me, we know Paul Johnson made a tomcat book. but did any of you ever pick up his crusader book? it ruled!!! I skipped out on it way back when it was released, simply because I wasn't as a big of a sader fan as I am now. very informative, and THICK on high gloss! A lot more pages and thicker than the tomcat book he made, not to mention tons of pictures. THEE crusader book!! I recommend it to anyone who is a fan/. Hope it has the super crusader pics too since that plane was obscure and very very deadly looking. And awesome as well. btw hikaru are those models you listed based on real planes?
  2. i unlocked a lot of the paint jobs but still the X2 eludes me. i've been strictly playing on "ace" level....could that be the reason why i can't open that last fighter? maybe i should play the game through on "hard" instead? heres a stupid question.... how do you get the "S" ranking? cause i literally blew up everything on every single board(even the "named pilot" on each level) and i still got a "A" ranking on some of the levels? Haterist, try getting all the red orange targets first. All of them. That should help out a lot. Some of them are hard to get to but they are worth killing for the points. And try killin off those FAST. Then kill everything else as fast as possible to score as many kills before the mission times out.
  3. Congrats man!! I just recently play with my 1/48 hikaru 1S a lot more, and man do I want a low viz. I should have ordered one when I had the chance but having a 1/48 as is is awesome nonetheless. Congrats!! Low viz' look so cool!
  4. OK now the MIG-29K is officially my FAVOURITE Fulcrum!! Those flaps really do it for me, it looks nice. And no more ugly ass UB blunt nose. The fulcrum looked so much like the flanker and eagle that I never really gave it its due till now. NOW it looks better!!!!!!! Truly the sexiest of all MIGs. Here that namco? Thats a MIG-29 VARIANT!! Man hopefully they do not give the fulcrum the shaft again in the next ace combat. BTW hikaru where did you get that>? Is it from one of this month's mags?
  5. We all realize it is a movie, but if your going to do something, research it. I mean the reason Macross Plus did so well was that while the planes were so futuristic they also had a hint of "hey that WORKS!", to them. "Stealth" comes across to me as a half assed attempt to capitilize on the look of stealth fighters. Top gun worked back then because as a movie, they kind of did it right. Firefox too. see with firefox the plane LOOKED like it could fly, and it certainly came across as an interceptor. When I see the plane in stealth, I am like "what the hell?" The AI plane in it resembles the F-19 so I will give them credit there. But otherwise NO. It's like putting a frame and chassis backwards on the main characters car in fast and the furious and saying its so highly advanced.
  6. Uh Panzer, for the record, I remember Knight either in my big super thread or elsewhere talking about his distaste for Top Gun. And he designs missles(last time I recall if I remember correctly, it had something to do with aerospace), so the man obviously knows his stuff. As far as the plane, a vast majority of us here think it sucks. MOST diehard fighter jockey fans HATE that design. When you said it looked realistic, I cringed. It looks like the Klingon bird of pray mated with the Switchblade artist representation from that one issue from popular mechanics. For a fighter, WHY does it have worse rearward visibility than the latest russian fighters, hell fighters in general? THIS is futuristic? Also there are a bunch of other things, I can't bother looking since I am short on time. The design is crap. At least with topgun you had a real plane. And at least in macross plus, you had a designer who actually KNEW what he was doing. This movie? Good luck to the mechanical designer of the plane when he shows up trying to promote the movie lets say at the national air and space center or to actual fighter jocks and defense contractors in the military. Top gun, and flight of the intruder, KNOWN popular movies, racking in millions, MOCKED by many in the actual military. If you think those can be looked at in disdain(I actually like both) then imagine what they wil say about stealth. And I would say what he said at the end was most likely fact. He's worked with people in the business. I'm sure if anyone would know, he would know. Or David. Jessica Biel is the only good thing.
  7. YeA it would be. I'd rather see another perfect grade gundam model or repaint rather than seeing HG exist any longer.
  8. Firefox was at least believable. THis new one is too....i duno out there. Reeks of macross plus. SHoji kawamori can teach a thing or to to whoever designed the half assed fighters in this. THe only thing its got going for it at all is Jessica Biel around airplanes. Thats about it seriously.
  9. http://badcataviation.com/fto1bymo.html And here she is boys!! The new motormax 1/48 F-14. I am very anxious to know more about this., Any of you see it before or buy it? Does it have retractable gear? Can it be bought in actual stores rather than online?
  10. Heh I saw that. Man JAG is horrible with the paramount pics recycled stock, and Pensacola did not last that long. Pensacola I thought would be cool but it was stale, something dramatic would happena nd the character reactions were juse like "oh this sucks". For the sake of comparison Lightning vs F-8. Also it seems that motormax has released a 1/48 F-14. Pics @badcataviation.com I know their q1/48 WWII birds had folding gear, but what about this tomcat?
  11. Hear that takara?THAT is an ultra magnus!!! Gosh damn that is friggin awesome.
  12. It's mainly the wings and the fishbed like nose intake that does it for me. Those 2 things rarely appeal to me, and till this day I just cannot stomach MIG-21s. I think 23/29s aremuch more beautiful. They knickname the Fishbed the russian hotrod of the 60s....but man to me it just looks like crap. It serves its purpose im sure, im not judging its aerodynamic design, but aesthetically....ugh. I do like the somewhat small cockpit of the lightning in comparison to its fat fuesealage though. Just seems interesting. LIke your sitting in a tank or something.
  13. Very interesting. Seems like the super sabre was truly better for strike than it was for its intended role. I will say though, it did make an awesome looking thuinderbird!!!Hopefully matchbox makes one in those liveries. David which matchbox ones do you have besides the F-104? How would you rate the others? I RARELY put the gear on my dragons to the flush no gear matchboxes are very appealing for the price. Know of any future releases? I would love to get a navy phantom and a thud, scooter and super sader if they make one(hopefully). Lightnings have got to be one of the weirdest looking interceptors I have ever seen. I just cannot see the beauty in them. Of course things can change, I used to think the A-6 was ballsugly until I saw it more and more on discovery channel., Then of course watching the Navy wings episode on it and "Flight of the Intruder"(yea i know but if you look and watch it not expecting much,....you already know its entertaining and TONS better than that stealth movie coming out....no ,matter how unrealistic FOTI was). Topgun was undoubteddly the more popular Paramount/Grumman Iron works movie. But which one was more accurate? I tend to think FOTI might have the edge in this one. Incorporating the A-6B on "ironhand" missions really made me happy.
  14. That's what I heard too back on Discovery back when Wings used to be on in 97. They said this when they were questioned about the seemingly small amount of ammo at full capacity in the drum,(150 rounds)
  15. LOL!!! Get em' Agent!!! Knight, no prob man. The more I reread A7's comment the more I think he was actually complimenting you. I think A7 was trying to say that the ship designer for Shadow Force can't design good ships, where as you however, can and have designed pretty good spaceships. And delays are understandable man. Take your time. I'm finding it very hard to find time at all to do my jet designs. I am actually working on an animation for class involving the F-8. Hopefully I can post it up within the next 3 weeks when I am done.
  16. It is more survivable than the eagle though. I mean the defense on that thing and stealth penetration ability coould work. But I think an RFB YF-23 or a FB-22 would be more better suited. BTW guys. Just wondering. Okay so the F-100 was a super sabre and could go supersonic unlike the F-86. But was it really all that better? As an interceptor I say yes, but as a fighter, .......Well yea thats why I asked lol. THe matchbox F-100s are really tempting.....appealing for some reason though I am not a fan of those "cut off nose" intakes. Cept on the 'sader! And lets do a doomed prototype debate F-108 Rapier vs A-12 Both very sleek and imposing looking. Awe inspiring. Who WOULDN'T want a model of a armed blackbird relative?!! Also Navy Fury(forgot numerical designation) vs F-86 F-4E vs Lightning And I also wonder......does the MIG-29M have ANY advantage over the SU-30MKI? I know the MIG-29K has more capability and better performance than the SU-33....
  17. Er, now everyone's hating on Mospeada designs because HG's using them for the new Robotech series? Naw I just think the majority of us(including myself0 think Knight26 is a very capable spaceship designer who also knows his stuff as well. I'm actually surprised this is all happening. Whether it actually reaches fruition and becomes a full fledged series longer than sentinels is yet to be seen and I would be surprised. Hopefully it is good but again I've got a bad taste in my mouth due to HG.
  18. Shawn try to eat down in manhattan or china town in the restaraunts. My dad said for 5$ they give you enough food in a platter to feed 4 people!
  19. Hey guys, I am confused after what i read. Maybe because its late night. Who knows. Anyways. Can the Bandai VF-17S move it's legs up and down without mods? Not the knees but the upper legs.
  20. Guys. If you have a local borders or bnn nearby, check out last month's lee's action figures and toy review mag. It had pics of the hand painted proto supreme king starscream. The crown is removable. Looked pretty cool. And I can also say that the rumor could be false. IT showed up a few months back first @seibertron.com. After that it spread like wildfire, and of course me@2005 went ballistic. Eagleeyejoe from the joe boards even said there would be confirmation awaiting within a week of the rumor announcement but he never got back to us on that. The suzuka blue S2000 that we all thought would be soundwave(again according to the rumor section@seibertron.com) ended up being a YELLOW S2000 called decepticharge. That part of the rumor was shot down less than a week later when Tankor Cn found the Decepticharge proto and announced that it was yellow. Followed by more pics, and even more resulting in the pics on his blog lately. And as for 1/72,me and others agree it is kind of small. A 1/72 F-16 is TOO small for an alternator jet. I've got one across from me now, it would really have to be at LEAST 1/48 to be feasible. A 1/72 F-16 is barely bigger than a 6 inch marvel legends figure in comparison.
  21. Dude what did you do to mod the legs?it looks AWESOME!
  22. I tend to disagree. They've seen takatoku fall. They've seen bandai bring back molds almost EVERYONE wanted for over a decade, and instead, gather dust. Yamato themselves have saturated the market. It's not that they don;t care, they want money. And if they saturated the market, and pretty much killed the competition, and still remain in saturation, then I take it they realize macross is not the jackpot right now. Maybe in a few years. They are smart in my opinion. They are also a small company. I mean killing off bandai in the macross toy VF-1 competition is a lot to say for the fledging relative newbie called yamato, but even then that does not automatically make them a big money loaded corporation. They are playing it safe. Remember overdoing things could kill them just like the big mecha toy phase basically killed takatoku. Yamato surely knows this, and such. It's not like they just do things like this to piss us off. Seriously a lot of people act as if they owe us something and to me it really isn't the case. We just got blessed to have a company even make all this stuff and want more. As fans this is understandable, from a business stand point, I tend to think yes and no in some cases. Both japan and the US. their younger audiences are moving towards games, and seriously I never saw macross zero being an anime that EVERYONE hyped. Only here and a few other boards. Tons of people know what the hell gundam seed destiny is but who knows about macross? Us, some of the older diehards, and anime fans who like planes. Yamato is playing it smart. Will this be the last we see of them in macross? Hah I don't think they are that stupid. I tend to think they will utilize their expensive ass molds and make new toys when the time is right. I don't think it is right right now though.
  23. I am thinking about getting some of the HUNs from matchbox. Plane is intriguing me. Maybe because it was Micky Simon's bird at one point. That and I am finding that I rarely put my dragon's in gear down position. Also a WARNING!! To those of you who are considering purchasing ANY Dragon F-15.... BEWARE~! I was remoing the canopy today, but the part that the windshield plugs into, the forward cockpit panel, SNAPPED off and stayed on the canopy!! This is due to the fact that the canopy plug has a tight fit with the cockpit panel. And I just epoxied but I have a feeling it will not be strong enough to do multiple canopy swaps. I barely use open canopy anyways, so it does not bother me as much as it may bother some of you, but it is irritating that something broke. Turns out the peg that keeps the cockpit panel in place is just plane ABS< and not diecast!! UGH.
  24. Suppposedly. I think some of you are forgetting that it took 5-6 years until we saw a YF-19 toy from macross plus.
  25. thanks for the comments david. The thing is, I hesitate to buy some of these sometimes since more than likely I will have to order them. I passed up the FOV tomcat, and now kind of regret it since it is the only metal 1/72 toyetic toy of a tomcat out there. Oh well its markers....ugh, geez no wonder tons of people disliked those things! I see what you are sayinbg about the nonexposed screw holes and such on the dragon warbirds, kind of gets me thinking that is why the mudhen has NO bumb attachments, and why the eagles cannot mount AMRAAMS on the fueselage, since there would either be holes or pints sticking out in clean mode. Either way I am sure dragon could figure out something, maybe swappable fueselage panels? The new FOV stuff is pretty interesting. 1/72 swap gear WWII planes, and 1/32 scale WWII planes with retractable gear and other things. Not to mentiong I didn't see any markers~!! THe F-14A they have on the FOV site in VF-41 black aces colors, looks really clean and has a better appearance than their previous version. Anyone know if this black aces tomcat is coming out? And anyone have the matchbox 1/72 diecasts? The hun and starfighter look cool, though I tend to keep my planes in flight position, I do dislike how they do not have swap gear. Their MIG-15 is too dirty for my tastes though.
