1. I read in a topgun book that an A-4 Mongoose is an A-4F decked out for mock ACM by use for the naval aggressor squadrons. It's got tuned up higher thrust engines than the regular A-4s, with extra weight and equipment stripped off to make it lighter. Maybe it is an unofficial nickname, either way the scooter is awesome and a nimble attacker and good dogfighter in the right hands. I know the BFM it demonstrated in the topgun movie and the BFM in the movie in general are all hollywood and not really practical, but that movie made the Mongoose seem AWESOME....Seeing it flown that way was really cool....and it seemed so dangerous too.(Yes I am a diehard who can accept topgun as a hollywoodified movie knowing real ACM is nothing close....hey come on guys its real planes flying instead of CGI and balsa models...for the most part....its gotta amount to something!) And for you 1/18 fans...a new company. http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtopic.php?t=2751 1st release is an F-86, WW II birds coming, and the official site of the new company has hints at a F-15 and F-14.
2. You guys just can't judge by mere size, the scopedog they put out was bigger than any macross toy they have ever released yet it is cheaper. And the qrau, look how much that costed. And why the need to cover the failed attempt of the 1/100? It never came out, why pay for something that does not exist? 335675 They need to cover cost on the 1/100 becos they spend time and money on developing something which never earn any revenue for them. They have to pay the sculptor for his time to develop the 1/100 prototypes. I think the GBP may also play a factor in the price of the VF-0S. Most of us were shocked with the sudden jump from their 8000 Estimated price to 12000 retail. If the GBP sells well then Yamato could very well just charge the same or even more for the VF-0S as compared to the VF-1. Anyway time will tell. 335702 Ya know he was probably paid in advance. And the thing is its totally different sculptors, SOLID and Nishikawa are taking on the 1/60, atelair sai took on the 1/100, I doubt that atelaer sai would have spent all that time sculpting something if he were not paid beforehand. He's a freelancer. Not to mention the 1/100 was sculpted probably 1 year or longer ago...its old news. THe GPB is expensive due to the amount of small internal pieces sculpted. Tiny details like that cost more to tool molds for. From what I recollect yamato made every single missle removable on the thing, on the FAST pack set, some missles were bundled in pairs. It is easier and cheaper to mold 2 missles bundled than it is to do each seperately. And guys I said SLIGHTLY cheaper, concerning the 1/60. If you guys thought I predicted this to be under 100$ then all of you are wrong. I am thinking more like 125$ USD. I am basing all my estimates in the notion that yamato has grown as a company and has more technology, experience, and knowledgeable sculptors, as well as the fact that they know more now than they did before, and are not the virgin company they once were. These things do cost a pretty penny to produce, but with yamato's experiences from the past 4 years, I am sure they are pulling out every trick in the book to make this beast easier to produce. It seems like all of you are basing your price estimates on the fact that it is just a couple centimeters longer than the 1/48 VF-1. I tend to think the toy has simpler transformation mechanisms which equates to much less small parts mold tooling and less small parts and hinges needed for transformation and a simpler transformation overall providing a simpler toy to produce in comparison with the 1/48. (and we all know getting the chest to sit flush in fighter mode while having a mechanism to slide the shield out and remain underneath the chest plate too was a hurdle for the team to overcome...as NOONE was able to do that until yamato came around~!).. So who knows? Yamato wouldn't overprice this thing, I mean yea they are no longer a virgin company new to the game but they aren't stupid either, overcharging could lead to no product being sold and potential bankruptcy. They know how takatoku ended up, and as far as I can tell, business wise and strategy wise, they have been making much sounder decisions in comparison to their predecessors. 335720 if yamato finds a way to produce these things easier and cheaper, it will financially benefit THEM, NOT US necessarily. They charge $140 dollars already for a toy they dont even bother to panel line and tampo print important decals. This is possible because they DOMINATE basically because of the lack of choice in this market. I dunno how many times I gotta say this but yamato is a business. And a business is all about increasing margins. Yamato will most likely change nothing as far as price is concerned if they find a cheaper yet more efficient way of producing products. Customers go about expecting the same old, while the company increase margins to fill their pockets or invest in company expansion or OTHER projects like say for example, producing the yf-19 (another high potential seller)... anyway... if this thing costs the SAME as a 1/48 it'll still be a generous gesture on yamato's part. 335805 Dude I was probably the first one who said many times that yamato is not our friend and is a BUSINESS. Hell we have not even had a msrp listed and already people are saying it'll be just as pricey as the 1/48 based off of what Noel said. I would not be surprised if it is the same price as the 1/48. However I also would not be surprised if it was a little bit cheaper. You cannot base estimates on size alone! Sure yamato can charge what they want due to limited market choice, but who is to say bandai will not get a license for 1/55 scale macross zero toys? As unlikely as this is, they sure as hell got kawamori pretty quick for design approvals for their recently released aquerion toy. Whos to say they won't take a look at getting macross zero and his cooperation as well? Seems unlikely to me but you never know. Yamato may charge what they want to get a high profit margin but they surely know if they charge too much, the japanese market won't budge. And THAT is their market they cater to, we merely get the remnants of it or a small portion of it. If the japanese market thinks it is too expensive there are other toys out there cheaper for them to buy, like the many gundam toys out in japan now. Like I said who knows, it wouldn't surprise me to see it be the same price as the 1/48, but it also would not surprise me to see it a LITTLE BIT CHEAPER! And nothing benefits us at all really. Legally yamato cannot cater to macross fans outside japan, I wish it were not so but ever since the whole HG crap nothing has changed. The only thing that benefits us are the etailer friends such as Kev, Tam, and the others who contribute in getting these toys from suppliers in japan and selling them to us here. We just have to wait and see.
3. Hey all the masters were cool! Aside pretenders. If these things did not have pilots I probably would not like them And there is worse out there....look at toy biz old transforming superheroes...like lizard into lizard...wolverine into a wolf....so horrible they made ANIMORPHS look good!
4. I want to see him fly an A-4 Mongoose..now those things I hear are mighty manueverable for what they are. I also want to see one with afterburning F404.
5. From what I see, mostly transformers fans. I am actually tempted, the vehicle designs are well done. The robot modes I admit do look better than most of armada and some of energon. Then again I am really tempted since they have pilots.....I dunno, I thought diaclone was cool too.

8. Whoa dude are you kidding me? Seriously have you ever read some of my previous comments? I've been critical of yamato in the past, in fact when SP1 used to criticize yamato, I actually agreed with him when most of you disagreed, I was quite verbal about the qc issues and such. It don't hurt to be a little optimistic, I play fan and devils advocate a lot(see my posts around the tf sites and you'll definitley realize I do not have blind praise all the time). It's been 4 years since yamato first started development of the 1/48. 4 years is a LOT to learn from....so granted this is why I assume that it will be easier design but also cheaper since ideally it should take significantly less time to design. (the only thing I can see prolonging release is sculpt approvals and revisions from kawamori).
9. Actually.... Titanium diecast versions of the Action Fleet X wing and Republic gunship from AOTC/epII are coming to walmart soon as exclusives. Heavily based if not the same as action fleet only diecast.
10. Hey Graham I actually think this might be cheaper than the 1/48...slightly cheaper. See the 1/48 was a monumental task by all involved, even if Nishikawa san made it seem easy, by all means it is a miracle of a toy considering all the VF-1 toys before it cannot even touch it aesthetically AND it is perfect variable. The VF-0 is a simpler design and yamato as a company and as a business has had considerable growth since then, I doubt the growing pains associated with the 1/48 VF-1 will be experienced by the VF-0 design team. If anything the VF-0 should be easier to design, with less intricacies than the 1/48 VF-1. Also by now yamato is USED to making big toys...as evidenced by the scopedogs, 1/48, and qrau. So I think there is a chance this toy will be cheaper. (not to mention and most importantly, the toy itself in size and transformation is similar to the 1/48....meaning that SOLID and nishikawa do not have to reinvent the wheel at this point, most of the hardwork*figuring out the transformation* is already done with!)
11. MGS4 and ghost recon are too entirely different genres. And last I heard, MGS4 was not a PS3 launch title. Most of the 360 games I have seen look phenomenal and at least they showed it running on the actual darn console, for all we know sony might just be showing us SGI enhanced trailers, they were guilty of this before. World Air force looks better than most of the recent high end flight sims on the PC. And don't even compare Ace combat since AC is a survey arcade sim, WAF is for the diehards.
12. Wow that looks awesome! I was at the oceana air show, I should upload some shots this weekend. It was definitely cool seeing the QF-4E flying around and in formation with the falcon and 2 sabres. I also saw it at langley earlier this year during a legacy flight with other fighters and the F-22. Truly an awesome sight!
13. I think the revolution and Xbox 360 will be pretty neat. The revolution controller trailer was AWESOME...very ingenuitive. And for those who have not heard yet, there is a adapter or something where you plug the revolution controller into it, and it functions AND looks like a traditional hand controller. So don't dismiss nintendo just yet. PS3 I worry about screwing up the most. The only thing I really look forward to on that is Ace Combat 6 which Namco is giving out surveys about and is saying will be online, but nonetheless even some of the stuff they say in their survey seems to farfetched and stretching the game too thin. Who knows. There will be growing pains with the first games of the next gen systems but nonetheless I remain cautious and excited. The price estimates were dissapointing for PS3. That and I do not trust Sony's quality ever since my first PS2 got a DRE. And no don't tell me and assure me that PS3's WILL be problem free. The damn thing ain't even out yet and since it is Sony we can expect problems to happen. For any company even but that DRE really pissed me off so yea understandably I am not welcoming sony's new stuff with open arms. Now xbox 360...when I heard a KOTOR III potentially being made for it...WOw. World Air Force seems AWESOME and the recently released trailer confirms that you can fly MIG-29s, the SU-27, AND the almighty F-14. Being that the 360 is pretty powerful, I am truly excited for this game and do not expect nothing but greatness from it.(its like an evolved aerodancing but with realistic flight AND avionics UNIQUE per plane!*lfor example, each plane has different radar functions, different radar displays AND HUDS!!!*). Now this single notion alone.....that you will be able to have a decent realistic survey sim with the F-14 and its radar system and all...is exciting in itself!(and ace combat is TOTALLY different so don't even compare it). I mean sure I love ace combat but I also love realistic sims....an frankly last time I heard, world air force was for xbox360 and not ps3. And I don't think it will go to PS3. And I could care less anyways.
14. More info from 1up. Apparently you are part of the 66th mercenary air group, "Gallum Squadron". People say it will probably be out next year, I am hoping it is the rumored Ace Combat 5.5 due out in november...not to mention it seems to be using the same engine. From what I read earlier it seems to be a dynamic campaign and the AI is smart AI that will tune up difficulty to try to shoot you down automatically...progressive I guess? Seems cool to me. But we all know Everyone wants this to be ONLINE including me!
15. Ace Combat Zero:The Belkan War ANNOUNCED! It's set to premier at the tokyo game show this weekend! http://www.videogamerx.net/bbs/data/gamescreenshot/ac0.jpg It was also announced by gamestop and some other sites. *Note, an Ace Combat 5.5 listing is up at cduniverse and walmart for release in november...this listing was discovered earlier this summer and people are starting to think that Ace combat 5.5 is really for Ace combat 0.* The story is that the principality of Belka attacks Ustio, and you play a mercenary for the govt. of Ustio. It takes place 15 years before Ace Combat 5.
16. Oh he's probably my favorite too ^^. But Hawk and Serpentor come in as close seconds. Yeah there's a lot to Snake-eyes but I still think he's slightly over-rated. Yes the mountain thing was cool. But last time Storm Shadow was good, when he was in command of the Ninja force wasn't he at that time also leader of the clan? Honestly I wouldn't expect anything less then Storm Shadow leading the clan as he and Jinx are the only blood members of the clan on the team. 327209 Now that I am not sure. I know that it wasn't until now that some of the red ninjas became good. And they comprised a good number of the clan. \I never though of that....not really sure if he was leader of the clan during his command of ninja force. But perhaps he was...because I do know control did shift over to snake eyes...but this was back and forth. The red ninjas were under sei tin for some time, then under tbang, and then snake eyes an d 6 loyal red ninja got rid of sei tin.(this is in MA II). Funny thing is, kamakura in the comic is similar to Nunchuk(back when nunchuk showed up as storm shadows prized student during the ninja force days). Budo and Tbang help out every once in a while now, and Budo is dating Jinx. I think Snake eyes led the clan until storm shadow finally went back with the joes...at that point Storm Shadow assumed the position as the reitful heir to the clan. In some way I think snake eyes was just temporary....just holding on until he could save his friend. And I definitely agree snake eyes is overrated...my favorite comics were the ones where he barely did any ninja stuff and was just a straight up commando...like the first time they encountered Kwin. I like hawk and Ace as well.
17. The whole reason I was unimpressed by MA II until the end was the fact that it seemed so unoriginal....ya know the whole thing about one has to live, one has to die, and both love each other. Either way it served the purpose of bringing storm shadow back to the good side...I just thought it could have been done a lot better. The art could have been a hell of a lot better. I felt the story of MA I had a good number of twists and turns, and a spark of originality that was not seen in MA II. The ending to MA II IMHO was definitely a lot better than I's, but the majority of the story was not. And Storm Shadow is my favorite gijoe/cobra of all time, I always was able to relate to his story and felt he got overlooked way too muchin favor of Snake eyes(which is one of the reasons I did not like snake eyes till I got older and realized he was a much deeper character than the mute ninja I saw in the cartoon). So thats the only reason I bought MA II....him fighting Junko, who didn't see that coming? What I didn't see coming was snake eyes handing over leadership to Storm Shadow....and Snake eyes finally stepping down as a arashikage clan leader. When THAT happened, I finally felt that Storm Shadow had finally gotten what was rightfuly his to begin with, and snake eyes redeemed himself more as a character I like a lot more now. I agree about the bio for Sigma 6 snake eyes....they kind of make him sound like firefly in a way. I wish it would be more like the hamaverse snake eyes but oh well. Either way, in the preview episode, storm shadow kicked snake eyes off a mountain....so I was pretty happy.
18. In my opinion, master and Apprentice 1 had way better art, its drawn by Stefano Casseli who is drawing America Elite. II was drawn by a team who draw in a pseudo manga style with colors by Udon. II was definitely lacking in art. The whole point of II was for Storm Shadow to free himself from his inner demons and from cobra(since at that point, he wanted out of cobra but cobra commander wasn't willing to let go of him alive). He finds a love interest, it becomes a decision whether he lives or she lives, stuff happens, and in the end he is given leadership of the arashikage and goes to the good side. The whole underlying theme is him basically going good. I thought master and apprentice I was done a lot better in story as well, the life or death love struggle is ciiche, but it served its purpose in II i guess... If I were you, I would just skim through M/A II, I only bought it because it was storm shadow, other than that, MA I has the superior art and storyline.
19. I kinda feel the same way, I mean he did make it their way on his own volition. But in that mike zeck issue, by the time they do reach the end, storm shadow was already broken free, and pretty much went with cobra commander. The reason shipwreck and some of the others are afraid of him is basically because he was also one of the deadliest cobras. In master and apprentice II, its a whole internal struggle of his. Basically the brainwashing is worn off but the past is what he pretty much fights against. Even at the end he kind of blames Snake eyes for things but when snake eyes presents the ceremonial sword and hands over the arashikage clan leadership and the remaining 6 red ninjas, all is well. BTW guys, the sigma 6 figures are out, they aren't everyones cup of tea but I hear they are very fun to play with. At that point he is truly free from the demons of his past.
20. Umm where did I say it was otherwise I know all this... Although I see nothing in Arashikage Showdown that disqualifies it other then the fact that Jinx is off the team and acting as a mercenary. Where did I clame that GI Joe Reloaded and Ninja Battles or the 3D cartoons or Sigma 6 are original continuity? Cause I know full well they are not. oh and you forgot Snake-Eyes declasfied. 326726 I never said you didn't know, I just clarified in case anyone would ask. Declassified ties into the normal continuity with DDP which in turn ties into the hamaverse. I know issue 1 of Decalssified is a retelling of one of the old hama book backstories. However since it has been pointed out to Brandon Jerwa and DDP that Snake eyes would be around his 50s or 60s now if they are dealing with the vietnam backstory, Jerwa wrote declassified#1 to make it take place in a "south east asian country", not exactly naming it vietnam as to leave it open to the readers opinion what time it takes place. I did preview some pages of Arashikage showdown, and in comparison with the main title DDP was putting out, it definitely seemed marketed to the 7-12 yr olds cruising for a mangafied gijoe fix.
21. I disagree with your intepratation there. Storm Shadow's offer for Snake-eyes to join the "Family Buisness" were made before he saved Snake-eye's life, before Snake-eye's family was killed... before anything pitiable happened to Snake-eyes. He invited him because they grew a bound of freindship. Havn't read teh M&A comics or the Declasified stuff yet. Anyway I don't quite understand why the Joes distrust Storm Shadow so much... I mean he was brainwashed the second time he worked for Cobra and he more then worked off the first time (which was not without mitigating circumstances... True betraying your country so you can find out who murderd your uncle isn't exactly right... but it is understandable). I can't get why Jinx of all people seemed to hold stuch a deep hatred for her cousin in Arashikage Showdown... I mean he was under Dr. Mindbender's control... anything he did in the last few issues in Marvel and during the DDP run wasn't really his fault. 326565 Arashikage showdown is outside of the original continuity...I am not sure if it follows ninja battles but it was aimed at the kids. Ninja battles is out of the original continuity too. About the joes being mad at storm shadow. Some of them find it hard to brush off the fact that he used to be one of the leading cobras. And came back to them. Yea he was brainwashed, but the issue 21 of the DDP series(an homage to marvel's issue 21), was drawn by Mike Zeck with no word panels, in this Storm Shadow finally breaks free from the brainwashing, but in the end, stops Snake eyes from attacking cobra commander, and walks away with cobra commander rather than with Snake eyes, Kamakura, and Billy, whose help he sought out to begin with in issue 19 or 20 of the DDP run. Bear in mind this is of his own volition at that point. Are you sure about Storm Shadow making the offer for the family business before the whole drama begins with Snake eyes? This is what I got from the gijoe comics homepage: So not only this, but when I read the issues in which all this happened, the offer only happens after Snake eyes' family is killed in the wreck, and that happened after he was saved by Storm Shadow back in nam(Snake Eyes was sent home since he got injured). As said before, the DDP main run, Gijoe/America Elite/Master and apprentice, follows the "original continuity".*Original meaning the marvel/hamaverse run*. Gijoe:Reloaded, Arashikage Showdown, and Ninja battles are all SEPERATE continuities! Frontline is the only other joe title that tied into the hamaverse and the first issues were even written by Hama. So even if Jinx hates stormy in arashikage showdown, in the *original continuity*,(as evidenced by master and apprentice vol II), they get along JUST fine. In fact, Jinx is one of the first to aid Storm Shadow in M/A II, and their interaction does not show any signs of animosity.
22. Tornado ECR vs EA-18G Growler As far as defense...I think the ECR has a gun and the Growler has AMRAAM and Swinders. I think the ECR can accomodate them too. Anyways, both have all that electronic warfare stuff, but all in all, which would be the better jammer and SEAD aircraft? The ECR's definitely got the speed advantage so it could run away faster. F-20 Tigershark vs Gripen Both lightweight fighters and can be exported unfortunately at the time northrop got shafted again. Either way which would be the better fighter? Both have the same engine, and sure the gripen might have more modern avionics but who is to say the F-20 could not have provisional upgrades? That and....badcataviation.com is offering the 1/72 "EZ kit" warbirds and jets. These include the corsair, some offscale bombers, and....... a MIG-29 Sure they are toyetic but unlike a dragon model, these can be played with without fear of messing up a paint job or dropping it or stuff like that. There are no molded missles but for less than 10$ you really get what you pay for. Sure it is made for kids but there are not many manufactureres giving the MIG-29 some love. (Man I wish the Force One days.......metal...playable, durable....variety....cheap.....there was even a MIG-29 made by a rival brand!)
23. Its just confusing how hasbro tries to have different origins for the characters. If sigma 6 deviates from the hamaverse and the short lived ninja battles series, then there will be 3 different origins. I did not like the ninja battles origin at all. The hamaverse has a brewing jealousy develop over the fact that snake eyes, a guy who stormy saved in nam and only invited into the clan out of pity, ended up becoming the hard master's prized pupil. Even in the DDP master and apprentice volume II, this jealousy and grudge does not end until Snake eyes hands over a ceremonial sword and leadership of the Arashikage clan(and the remnants of the loyal red ninja) to Storm Shadow....Storm Shadow then becomes the Phoenix Master of the clan(originally the young master during training). All I am saying is that hasbro should stick with the hamaverse/DDP thing rather than make new origins. Yea I understand the notion to modernize but their origin was already good and deep. BTW did you guys see the figures yet? Sigma 6 snake eyes looks like its got a ton of playability potential and storm shadow looks cool too. The zartan line art looked awesome.
24. I actually doubt it man. To be honest, to make things even MORE confusing, Sigma 6 is in its own continuity altogethere OUTSIDE the toyline AND Hamaverse comics AND DDp stuff. Weird huh?(notice that tunnel rat in Sigma 6 is a teen where as in the gijoe 2002-2005 mass market relaunch, he was an adult). Not to mention, ninja battles did not make the impact it was expected to make, otherwise the other assortments for it would have come out. I did love the figures in the box set, but that was about it, the storyline was so hacked. Ninja battles was supposed to be more than just that 1 box set but that whole fake hiatus thing came about and it never made it out the way it was supposed to be. I hated the notion of storm shadow being made truly evil and all that crap. Like I said, if something ain't broken why fix it and break it in the process? The hard master story did not need any rewriting, it was good as it is, and the snake eyes and storm shadow back story of the 1980s can NOT be beat no matter how many times they may try to rewrite it. I also think the Red shadows in the DDP comic were a big hype and complete waste of time. No need to kill Lady Jaye. The BEST thing about america elite is the artist, Stefano Casseli is pretty good IMHO, and I do like his work a lot more than Tim Seeley(Casseli did master and apprentice volume 1...and the art in there is exponentially better than the art in volume 2, which was done by a different artist). Issues 5 and 6 should be GREAT.....storm shadow vs zartan. I also like how Casseli makes storm shadow always look pissed and mysterious, storm shadow rules lol.
25. I got sepiroth. Pretty cool, I am satisfied with the sculpt but I do not like how the vinyl does kind of hinder shoulder movement and how the legs are limited by sculpt in forward rotation. Other than that I think its great and hes got a stand too! When does Cloud come out? Will there be one without his bike?
