  1. Naw IDW is the one handlin the TF license. Dreamwave went bankrupt then formed Dream Engine. Don Figueroa and other tf artists and writers were not paid, Simon Fuhrman I think may not have been paid either, its evident in interviews that he has some animosity towards Pat Lee. before the collapse, Don and I believe Guido Guidi had to resort to PAYING for the shipping of their penciled pages to dreamwave, which was supposed to be covered and paid for by dreamwave. As of now, some of the artists and writers remain awaiting for their money which has been due for quite sometime. During dreamwaves collapse and bankruptcy, pat lee bought a porshe. No joke! Don Figueroa and Simon Fuhrman are doing work for IDW's transformers series. Pat and his bro made a company called dream engine, I believe the last book they worked on was X4. And I myself have never been a fan of Pat Lee's pillsbury doughboy transformer drawings and zombie LSD enduced looking characters. I have always felt that dreamwave's main appeal was not their pencilers, but the fact that they used a lot of bold cell shading with photoshop, which while nice at first, got way too oversaturated and cliche later on.
  2. Beautiful! I am so glad the 1/100 never made it out, this simply BLOWS IT AWAY! The head lasers seem a bit long to me but who cares? Theres a freaking TAIL HOOK! That my friends, scores points in my book, I love the touch of realism here, and I of course love naval planes as well. And being that we see a limited amount of liveries on there, let us hope that every graphic logo we see now like the skulls and UN kite are tampo printed onto the production toys!(Hey they were on the 1/48!...well except the fueselage kite but hey it was something!)
  3. WHOA!!!!That is crazy! Thanks for the link David. I wonder if Knight26 has seen this yet, he likes the MIG-29 a whole lot. This is a wonderful vid, and the engines when vectoring are noisy too! I had no idea it could vector thrust THAT fast!!!Seems like the pilot was stepping on his rudder pedals every .3 seconds! I would love to see the OVT fulcrum in an airshow and also in a dogfight, truly lethal in the hands of a skilled pilot! There are ways to defeat an adversary like that, but man that manueverability and all is quite a sight to see! And man the russian demo team schemes always look cool for some reason! BTW guys, for you fulcrum fanatics, the MIG-29 in Ace combat zero has Air to air MISSLES for its special weapon!!! FINALLY!!! I was tired of being limited to A2g rockets for special weapons!
  4. If the pics in toyfare are the same as those on entertainment earth, than those ARE the metallic paint schemes! They are not metallic in the sense of shiny metal, more like dull metal. Know what I mean? Nothing like the chrome on transmetals. Like a dull silverish tone added to the paint, not shiny metallic at all!
  5. It is much bigger than the F-16 though, heh I actually thought they were the same size~! Boy was I wrong. The super hornet more often than not, has been called a compromise fighter. It is definitely a compromise fighter, but it is reliable and faster and easier to maintain than a tomcat and a intruder. The main thing its got going for it is that it is more modernized, the tomcat and intruder were developed using technology from the 60s and perhaps the 50s, where as most of the technology used on the hornet is all new if not fairly recent in comparitive terms. I would have loved to see the tomcat unleashed to its full potential as a potent high speed bomb truck capable of filling the A-6' shows yet retaining its lethal interception capability, and some glimmer of hope still keeps me hoping we eventually see this tried at least once, the bombcats showed much potential and we know it could only go further, but might cost a lot. From what I read the super hornet was the only alternative for the navy to even have something flying rather than to depend on the air force for aerial protection, so in other words it was the super bug or nothing. At that time, NATF was canned, F-14D protection and ST21 was cancelled, and the A-6F program was dead. Given the circumstances I understand why the super bug was chosen, even if it is far from my prefered fighter. Being that Mcdonnal douglass is owned by boeing, and grumman is now with northrop, it would not surprise me at all if Boeing and northrop grumman were the design team to design the next gen successor to the super hornet. Mcdonnal douglass and grumman have the disctinction of making a TON of mainstays in naval aviation, with most of their planes making significant roles in the history of naval aviation. And David, I had no idea the ACTIV had 3D vectoring! That plane is INSANE!!!! And I am a fan of the bicentennial colors too~
  6. After what happened to Simon Fuhrman, Don Figueroa, and countless others, are you guys sure applying to dreamwave would be a good thing? BTW nice drawing EXO!!
  7. It's 6 figures from the first wave of 1995. Done in metallic paint schemes, each for 14.99 and a DVD, + each have 1 part to build a transmutate. Megatron and Primal get all new molds and will be deluxe size too, they will look NOTHING like the Robot master versions, and Aaron Archer, the brand manager for hasbro, said he was very dissapointed with the robot master versions. The new megatron and primal I hear look very awesome, and megatrons tail can seperate as well.(you could not do this with the original but you could with the robot master). And whats wrong with transmetals? I like them! Some of the transmetal 2s I could care less about, but I would love to get my hands on a tm2 red dragon megatron, optimal optimus, and rampage. Do it in metallic paints though, no chrome!
  8. wow this thread is old!
  9. That's cool, Knights got pics to show later on anyways. Noyhauser, thanks for clearing things up. I was beginning to question history channel's documentary(not to mention I always question TV info regardless). I borrowed one of the warbird tech F/A-18 books from the library, interesting facts on the super hornet. I have read so much on the subject and do agree the navy needs the thing, and the tomcat, no matter how much I love the thing, needed a replacement either way. Which brings me to the next subject, how early could we see a super hornet replacement? I say 2020 or a few years before that. Maybe afterwards. The military is increasing UCAV activity and defense manufacturers are hyping it like the next big thing. Me however, I feel that even if a UAV or UCAV can move faster than the human mind(according to a recent Boeing ad), I still do not think it can replace fighters altogethere, and therefore I do believe the fighter that does end up replacing the super hornet and perhaps the F-22, will still be manned. Since inevitably the super hornet will get replaced by something in the next 2-3 decades, what do you think it will have? I think it will have the reliability of the super hornet, more technological advances, more digital processors, a FBW system, bomb truck capability of the A-6, Air superiority capabilities of the F-14, stealthiness of the F-22, and cost saving procedures made in manufacturing that were utilized for the super hornet. Its a long while away but it will be interesting to see what future aircraft will rearm the various VFA squadrons. And I recently saw some F-117 kits...WHOA..I had no idea it was that big~! I kept thinking it was similar in size to the F-16, but boy was I wrong~!! And anyone here news on the YF-23 RFB? Was it mere vaporware or is northrop grumman still actually refurbishing it?
  10. whoa it STILL flies? That is awesome! I wonder if NASA still utilizes it for testing. Had no idea it was still flying! Iron Eagle II is worth watching simply because we see the F-4 in prominence and some IAF F-16 fights ain't bad either. I would have said better for the 1st one had the barrel roll not been the MOST REPTITIVE manuever in the movie lol. Plotwise I think it was horrible but as a movie I saw during childhood I still like it for nostalgia's sake.
  11. Skull leader, Doug Masters is shot down in Iron Eagle II, they say something about a body never being found, and it is assumed that he is dead. However in Iron eagl IV or V, I think IV, he returns and it turns out he was in a gulag the whole time after being shot down, and pissed at Chappy for not getting him out, apparently Chappy tried to but the govt insisted he was dead. Something like that. Either way IV or V whichever, sucked. Dragon does have a limited edition cyber hobby VX-4 playboy bunny F-14A coming out. Yes an A! Well at least by its engines. Also I remember eons back someone brought up the Canadian Avro Arrow. Great plane, as it turns out, its cancellation brought up many conspiracy theories since it was all of a sudden. Last night on the superpower aircraft documentary on the history channel, they went over the introduction of the arrow, and its cancellation and simultaneous layoff of the 15,000 arrow employees who were working on the project and its manufacturing and production lines. They later brought up the MIG-25. Now it SEEMED like the reasons to cancel were political....talking about how the minister at the time wanted money to pay off the canadian farmers so he canceled the project to use the money. BUT The real reason was revealed in this documentary...apparently this has been kept secret for quite a number of years. It turns out the real reason the Arrow was canceled, was because a KGB agent had infilitrated one of the Avro plants, and had direct access to all of the technical details and all else related to the Arrow. Coincidentally some of the technology later appeared on the MIG-25(the US released this when Belenko defected his foxbat to japan and inspected it). Remember at the time, the Arrow was a very powerful plane, and the US had expressed interest into buying it. Interesting no? Anyone else hear of it? I was shocked when I heard it last night. Mighty fine fighter! I wonder had the KGB not been stopped early on, what kind of MIG would emerge from the stolen details of the arrow. And I also wonder how awesome it would have been if the arrow entered service.
  12. From what I remember 1/60=6800 yen 1/48=14800 yen The bandai 1/55 reissues were 6800 yen as well
  13. Very true man. For me it was the overpricing and non ratcheting legs on my rick that peeved me, but hey I didn't get them full price after all!! I got my ben and rick for 50$ a piece, and my Roy, for 10$ when gamespot delisted them and my local store decided to discount it a further 50%.
  14. Have fun overseas Graham! Forgot Noel was in HK! We've seena distant pic of the battroid mode, heres to hoping we see it in gerwalk with 2 page transformation spread!
  15. Jenius I definitely agree with you concerning the MPC and 1/60. I for one actually did like the VF-1 MPC's, and liked it better than the 1/60 as a toy. Aesthetically, hell no, but as a playable toy, yes. I thought the MPC was overpriced and had iffy quality on the 1st releases, had it been 40$ per volume AND had working ratchets on my Rick MPC, I would have liked it a lot more and I can guarantee it would have sold more and not had as much scorn. The 1/60 is a lot better aesthetically though and articulation wise, but again like you said, not as stable and I tired of my 1/60 hikaru's legs falling off all the time. Had there been a locking mechanism between the 2 hip joints, perhaps things would be a lot better. Aesthetically there is no contest though. Now the 1./48....no comparison, the thing is majestic and awesome, I remember the day Noel saw it in person and told us what he thought, and how it dethroned the takatoku VF-1J as his fav toy. When I heard that, I was like WOW, this is something here! So in the end kids, buy a 1/48 and kiss everything else goodbye, if you need just 1. Me I like variety, so I've got VF-1s from all 3 companies!(bandai, yammie, toynami).
  16. And the votoms is much bigger yet costs less......... MEH we cannot judge simply by size, and who knows what the hell the price will be. Graham any new pics in the magazines?
  17. Aesthetically the yamatos PWN toynami no contest, it shouldn't even be brought up really. And wow this thread is being brought up 6 months later?
  18. Graham, 1 of our very own admins, is from the UK! His collection of bandais is impressive too, ranging from the HCMS to the many 1.55s available during the 1980s. Correct me if I am wrong but I do think most of the bandais posted in the macrossworld toy section are actually his~! To learn a history the best place would be here for a little bit of everything, the frontpage has links to many things. Macross compendium would be your next best bet. Aside from renting or buying the DVDs. Jetfire is a bandai 1/55 mold with the nose section of the VE-1 ELINTSEEKER and the 2 seats found in the VF-1/VT-1 cockpits. It has the VF-1S FAST pack armor included(the red armor). Your best bet is to get the reissue bandai VF-1S super valkyrie.....it is the mold that jetfire is based off of, only with a sharper more angular nose, 1 seat, and of course the skull squadron liveries. The price should run you a little bit under or over 100$ as it was reissued in 2003. I do have a vintage jetfire and a reissue super, and I do like my super valkyrie more.
  19. Guys remember how the VF-11B was advertised as 1/72, but in reality upped to 1/68 to increase durability? What if the VF-0, is advertised as 1/60, but in actuality closer to 1/57...or.. 1/55?!!! That is something I WOULDN't mind!*Keep staring at how marvelous the bandai reissues are* Either way it'll be close to 1/55 regardless....sure a difference but its still gonna be a big toy, and I like big robots regardless of scale. I really hope we get a Ghost drone to smack onto the VF-0's back.
  20. I don't want to turn this into a real heated debate, and valk1s you do have some really good points. i always figured the money to pay off the sculptor could be paid off by the profits they made off of the 1/48s many repaints. As you all know repaints are cheaper to produce yet rake in considerable profit. Think about it, they only needed to release the VF-1S once, but look how many times they did reissue it. I understand your cost covering explanation. I was just under the impression that a lot of you were being pessimistic and thinking this thing would skyrocket to 180-200$, it may not have been said, but thats what I percieved by some of you. Now granted, you need not tell me yamato is a business, by all means, thats what I was preaching eons back to last year when many of you would say something would sell and i would play devils advocate and list the reasons why yamato might not release something and how it might not make money. And lastly I felt all these price estimates came from the day Noel listed what HE thought it would cost when he saw it in person at wonderfest. Oh well we will only know for sure when it comes out, and even then its up to the etailers' discretion. I mostly see VF-1s going for the 140$ range nowatdays. I of course would want a cheaper valkyrie, WOULD NOT BE AT ALL SURPRISED IF IT ENDED UP BEING 150$ OR SAME YEN MSRP AS THE VF-1 1/48, but regardless it seems like some of you think this thing will skyrocket to a high ass price and have negative connotations about the price. I don't think the price will be absurd, some of you say yamato charges what they want, sure, I mean they are here to make money, but also a good business charges what they know customers will pay and to make a considerable profit, but they won't charge as much to TURN away the customer. I didn't ever say I thought it would be cheap people, just a bit cheaper than the 1/48. And it was all speculation on my part. If you charge WAYY too much for something, it'll sit on the shelf and gather dust and go into discount(Toynami VF-1 MPC line). If you price something well, it well sell well for a while and not many will complain for price.(Yamato 1/48 and 1/60 VF-1 line).*And NO I am not implying that yamato will overcharge the 1/60 VF-0, I think it will be a justifyable price and again WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED if it was the same price as the 1/48 VF-1* Now you tell me, who had the better business sense here? *And NO I am not implying that yamato will overcharge the 1/60 VF-0, I think it will be a justifyable price and again WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED if it was the same price as the 1/48 VF-1*
  21. So basically your saying the money from the 1/60 will partially go to the 1/100 sculptor. We can presume that sculpting of the 1/100 took place either early 2004 or late 2003, at least started. With the final sculpt done by...well it never was done huh. Why would yamato wait till spring of 2006 when they presumably will get profit from the 1/60 to pay off atelair sai? That would mean he would have been paid nearly 2 years AFTER he started work on the 1/100. Why would they pay him later and not in advance? Sculpting is tedious work, and it would not make any sense for him to have to wait 2 years for payment on work that never got produced in mass like intended. And there is NOT MUCH costs to cover for not making the damned 1/100, think about it the thing was probably not even done and we can presume that tools and molds were never cut. There isn't any proof of this yet, and all the pics we saw of it were either unpainted or painted resin protos. Ateliar sai would just need money to pay for his time and energy sculpting the proto. Which is nowhere near as much as it would be to cover tooling and mold creation with steel. Look at the takara unicron figure from beast wars neo. It was never mass produced. Its not like the profit from armada unicron 3 years later was used to pay off the sculptor of the beast wars neo unicron. It just doesn't make any sense for a sculptor to wait 3 years to get paid on something that essentially DID not get produced! I would think he would be paid in advance. Like atelair sai was paid before hand to sculpt the VF-0. But since it never got produced, why would yamato pay him afterwards if they already paid him before? And plus atelair sai has nothing to do with the 1.60, its nishikawa and SOLID. And where did the money come from? From previous sales of course, where else would it come from? Profit from the 1/60 VF-0 wasnot around back then, it still isn't now and won't be till spring at the earliest. And again it does not make sense for them to keep ateliar sai waiting for a paycheck for 2 years. Anyways I am hoping the nov/dec issues of dengeki, hj, or figure oh show some new pics, its loooking like a mighty nice toy!
  22. What do you guys think of the F-21 as a ACM fighter? Its got more speed than the scooter, but I imagine it bleeds speed fast. I wonder if the canards work wonders. I definitely love the F-4s in Iron Eagle II. Did you guys know there was an iron eagle IV with Doug masters returning? Not sure if it was the same actor but basically they get him to train a bunch of kids in props but at the end he duels in an F-16.
  23. I definitley agree man, a cat would smoke the scooter possibly even in military power~! I still think it is not as bad as a hollywood f up as IRon Eagle II's "MIG-29's" Still nice to see the rhino get some movie time though!
  24. I plan to get the habro version when it gets here(its supposed to have minor paint differences as announced in botcon).
