There might be scans in the toy section on the frontpage that Graham I believe scanned in when he did the 1/48 Hikaru VF-1A review back in late 2002.

Masterpiece Brave King Exkizer Mp-b01
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to zeo-mare's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Its takara so I would not worry about breakage. Compare mastepiece prime to the toynami MPC's HUGE difference! Anyhoo, exkaizer retails for about 90$ on various etailers and is shorter than the original exkaizer but MUCH MUCH more articulated and has good proportions. It does combine with dragon kaizer? I believe. Anyways a lot of people think a 2 pack with the dragon guy will come out later on, they combine to make Great Exkaizer. To me if anything it looks worth it and would have the high quality we would expect from takara. -

I think hd the YF23 won the competition the navy may have wanted it, they did want a NATF after all and I believe that was only after the competition was won. A navalized YF-23 would have been cool. -

The YF-23 had more power?" Interesting....well I do remember reading that it was faster and stealthier. I am still trying to figure out what northrop grumman did with one of the prototypes earlier last year, was it just cleaned up for a museum or was it configured into the RFB proposal? -
Newbie ANSWERS thread!

I believe they are overly snug so there is less chance of them slipping off while the toy is being handled. I hear from a lot of you that the FAST packs ARE pretty heavy. Not only are they heavy but there are internal parts and perhaps a drop to the floor would pretty much risk a lot of breakage. So I basically think the snugness is to counter the heavy weight of the packs. Yamato also knows that we play with our toys and our not merely content with leaving them on display, remember how they revised the 1/60 backpacks so they wouldn't flop around in fighter mode after the hikaru came out? A bunch of us would be imitating flight scenes and the backpack would just flip up, yamato said they never envisioned their fans play dogfighting with their planes henceforth they revised it in time for the 2nd 1/60, the Roy version. (the fix for the 1/60 hikaru VF-1A was to place some super glue in the backpack hinge area after dissassembly, and reassemble when dry, the dried superglue would provide resistance so the backpack would not flop.) -

F-22 has a greater thrust to weight ratio than the F-15. People complain about the YF-23 being canned in favor of the F-22, but most of us don't see any problem with the F-22 replacing the F-15, it is a BETTER fighter in just about every category, much like the F-15 was to the F-4. F-35 cannot supercruise. It can carry 2 bombs and 2 missles internally. So far only the F-35A has an internal gun, a gun is needed in ANY fighter that may find itself in a dogfight no matter what the pencil pushers tell you. (F-4 pilots found themselves in a disadvantage in vietnam since they had no gun until later on). I don't think mounting the mauser cannon has anything to do with germany, rather I think it is for a more adequate ground attack gun. F-35B and C don't have an internal gun but can mount gun pods. -
MasterPiece Collection v1.1
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The huge ass voltron in the pic was 60$@ TRU and then marked down to like 20 or so maybe less. MAN I am a moron for not buying it!! The smaller lions in the pic are the reissues done from trendmasters, which were identical to the godaikins but with no missle launcher springs. The big voltron was an upsized version WITH cockpits and could hold gijoe size figures.(and did a better job of it, the original matchbox one was fun but holy crap were those canopies SUPER obvious~!). So....oh yea the big trendmasters upsized voltron with cockpits was 20 inches tall I believe. It was HUGE. So yea....and yet....the MPC costs twice as much..more than that I mean. -

I've always been interested in seeing how he does his pieces. I've been confused, does he make 3D models and paint over them in photoshop? The man is talented, if he isn't painting skins for 3d models then he has to have had experience using traditional medium, otherwise it'd be very difficult for him to turn out the masterpieces that he does. (most of the best digital artists can do well with traditional media and are usually well versed in that before using the comp since the comp is simply just another tool to learn much like the pencil or pen, just more open). And yes this guy must work a LOT........he sure does have a lot of work to his credit as well. He is credited in stuff for macross zero as well. -

I think the JSF is only a good replacement for the F-117, its supersonic, it can carry a bit more internally, and it can defend itself better if it gets jumped by fighters. The thing is, a lot of countries are buying the JSF with the assumption that it CAN do everything the falcon and hornet did. The thing is it can to some extent and is better in some areas, but certainly not better in most. I tend to think the JSF is a stealthy interdiction striker with MINIMAL a2a capabilities. I also agree that it should be canned in favor of more F-22s. Its known throughout history that you need a big fighter to tack on multirole missions and capabilties and the armnaments needed. The F-4 and F-15 are great examples of this. -

I love Takani's work. Very cool and with traditional touch. I like Tenjin as well. I wish I knew his method to creating his works on the comp. Tenjin has done some bandai MG box art and some planes for hasegawa as well. Its on his site. -

Hey guys, what does the F-15E proposal with new avionics exactly capable of? Does it have AESA and HMS? I am interested in hearing this especially after hearing about how good Korea's F-15K Slam Eagle can be in the a2a arena -

here is mine What military aircraft are you? My Results: F-15 Eagle You are an F-15. Your record in combat is spotless; you've never been defeated. You possess good looks, but are not flashy about it. You prefer to let your reputation do the talking. You are fast, agile, and loud, but reaching the end of your stardom. -
Roy seems more like a deranged perverted dumbass rather than a hardcore beer hangover jet fighter jockey womanizer in action. And hikaru? WHAT THE HELL! Thank God for subs!! Geez wouldn't it have just been CHEAPER to just leave this subbed to begin with?>
-
Its a good thing since the macross stuff will still have subs, that means that for those who did not get the animeigo sets, and for those who are new to macross, its a fresh start.

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Skullsixx's topic in Movies and TV Series
Also another similarity is that Tenjin, like Takani, also does a lot of artwork for model kit boxes with ships, and WWII motifs, as well as airplanes. Tenjin has done many pieces for Hasegawa. In some ways perhaps it is safe to say out of respect that Tenjin is this generations Takani. In some ways they both went down a similar path, one with traditional and one with digital. There is no doubt in my mind that Tenjin also has a decent background in traditional art as well as evidenced by stuff on his studio tenjin site and sketches. I hope someone could translate the interview that is in his valkyrie book. -
How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
The other thing is that gundam tends to have alternate realities(which turn out to suck a lot more than half the time) and also unlike macross, gundam series end up having multiple mecha designers. Kawamori designs nearly all the VF's. Kunio Okawara didn't design every gundam even if he did design most. What gundam lacks in terms of macross is consistency. Well in my opinion at least. -
What Ever Happened To Shawn And Graham? Does Anyon
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to med96ben's topic in Movies and TV Series
Guys Graham's got a son remember? He became a father last year. Or was it earlier this year? I forgot. And Shawn has always been busy with work as far as I can remember. Even back in late 2002 when they were unveiling the 1/48 during december on macrossworld, he wasn't posting as much as he had when macrossworld first started a few years before. He posts less and less now, so I assume he probably moved on up to a higher position in work that demands more hours. -

Hey fellas, we had to do a drawing for concept drawing class, and here is one of my redoes. Its a plane so I suppose its okay to put here!? We had to illustrate the words "peace force". The idea that they picked me to do was a sketch I had of a bomber with peace signs on the bombs. So here I have a hog...and I know some of you love the hog... -

Knight I know you probably won't be able to answer this....but any of the unclassified stuff.....any of it fighters? And what is you stance on UAVs? I personally think they can never replace the manned fighter and that the pencil pushers since the 60s have always thought they were right but history proves they weren't( for example.....no guns in fighters, F-111 being brilliant for the Navy...niether of which was true) -

Takani's work is all over the place, tons of 70s-80s japanese model kit box art, and for Dougram, Gundam and macross, I believe the ARII/Imai and bandai kits had his box art. -

From what I understand the YF-17 and YF-16 were built for daylight A2A. It wasn't until later that the multirole stuff was tacked on. But since the YF-17 wasn't too suitable for carrier ops, a total redesign was needed, and the F/A-18 is a totally different yet visually similar plane. And the F/A-18 was designed at the time the decision was already made to make it a multiroler. So if anything the hornet was a multiroler from the outset were as the F-16 took on the role gradually.(performance wise the YF-17 had some better specs than the F/A-18 in A2A). Just another tidbit. Nied its funny you brought up the F-35/A-7 scenario. I always thought the X-32 looked similar to the A-7, being big, rather bulbouse, and that huge fat intake. And I definitely agree with what you said concerning F-22s/F-35. -
How Was The Macross Toy Market Before Yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Toys
We spent our time begging bandai to reissue the valks. 1/55 was our idea of the holy grail back then, and a joon would suffice, back then we were all like junkies, and the savoring increased once people like Jung, Rosario Love, and others would turn the chunky monkey into a custom phenomenon that we would all drool at. Back then having an open canopy was awesome on a custom since it was not on stock HCM's or chunky monkeys. Missles cast from resin were wanted and it seemed back then that the ELINT, Super O and strike were the top 3 holy grails....and ones that some like myself still wish bandai will reissue one day(right....). Back then we could cruise valkyrie factory, and valkyrie scramble, and then one day some of us began to encounter macrossworld, which is where we all are now. I remember the opening cockpit, resin missles, ball jointed leg experiments all done on 1/55 customs, and at that time yamato was still not around making macross stuff and toynami more so wasn't around either. But once yamato came around to making the 1/48, opening cockpits, detachable missles/pylons, swivel thighs, and ball joints being the norm became standardized on their toys for the most part and no longer the result of a good customizer, for the first time in macross toy history, all those features would FINALLY be found on a production toy. So in a sense we had a lot of pioneering customizers and us fans were semi used to paying high ass amounts of money for vintage valks or customs. Back then even a Joons would suffice, but now why do that when you can get a genuine bandai reissue? Things change, but one thing stayed the same. The bandai/taka 1/55 rules!
