Its actually Leinil Francis Yu(same dude who was on the wolverine main title for a while during the late 90's...he also did issue 145 when Wolverine finally got the adamantium back, and then some issues of Xmen, then Superman:Birthwright). I'm pretty sure it was Frank Miller still doing the pencils and inks. Lyn(his wife), did the colors digitally. She was also the watercolor painter who did the colors on dark knight returns in the mid 80s. For those of you who were into Wildcats, Jim Lee is set to do a new Wildcats series with GRANT MORRISON! He said they were going with a pop art feel as well, influenced by Jim Steranko. Read this over@newsarama I like Lone wolf and cub, and Samurai and executioner. I know decapitator Asaemon dies fighting Ogami Itto in Lone wolf, did he turn bad in lone wolf? Or merely in Ogami's way? Anything drawn by Goseki Kojima I will probably take a look at. LOVE his ink work. It did? DAMN it!!! Ah man I just picked up issues 3 and 5. Ah well. Does the HC come with any good extras like Gabrielle del'Otto's sketches? If its got good background filler material extras, then I'll pick it up. whats the msrp? And this justice comic....is it painted by Ross or is he just consulting it? I was kind of dissapointed when I learned he was just writing or planning marvel's Earth X rather than painting it like he did with Kingdom Come for DC.- 557 replies

Because the STMD isn't in production and was just a prototype. Plus the US has got japan's back, therefore japan doesn't really need to spend as much on their military weaponry as we do. We got bases over there and near there in Okinawa, so they are pretty much covered. The biggest threat would be Korean/Chinese Su-30's but at this point I still think japan could still take them on if attacked. And if japan gets the F-22, even if downgraded will still be a pretty powerful airplane, and possibly the most powerful fighter in the pacific as well as most advanced. If that happens you wouldn't even need an STMD much less an F-15 altogethere.

I;m the same way man, and usually when I do pick up single issues, their actually back issues. I finished identity crisis a few weeks back on my weekly trip to the campus bookstore. Now infinite crisis...I might wait for that to be collected in a trade like marvel did with house of M. Inifinite crisis is just so long...so theres no way I can catch up at this point. I haven 't even read the old crisis on infinite earths!- 557 replies

The Comic Book thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
has anyone read Frank Miller's sequel to Dark Knight returns, I think its called "dark knight strikes back"?. At first glance I could not really stand the art its such a departure from not only his first bats story BUT even Sin City(I love the art in sin city btw but the dark knight strikes back was very very lacking in comparison to that and "dark knight returns" from the mid 80s.) I wanted to read more of the new Jim Lee/Frank Miller batman and robin mini series but could not even find issues 2-4. Seems to be a Miller retelling of their origins. I LOVE Marvel's "Secret war" from 2004. The painted one by Gabrielle del'Otto. Very cool/. I like Enemy Ace from George Pratt a lot, (I really got a thing for painted comics). Pratt is also one of my teachers, GREAT man to learn from. I am looking for his Wolverine:Netsuke mini series. Any of you read it? Always liked Alex Ross' stuff. And I must admit, most of the batman stuff from recent years was pretty good. I realy liked "under the hood" and "war games:". I'm also a fan of Alex Maleev's dark and gritty work on Daredevil. And of course, Frank Miller's takes on Bats and Daredevil.- 557 replies

Transformers Thread 2
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Now why am I humming the Gaogaigar theme when I see these designs?? (Might Gaine is more appropriate but never saw it.) 375612 IDW is NOT dreamwave. DW went under, IDW is a totally different company that hired some of the artists that were once part of dreamwave. Don Figueroa is doing Beast wars for IDW(issue 1 just came out) w/Josh doing the colors. Joe Ng went to Udon. Not sure about James Raiz. Pat Lee and his brother formed dream engine right after he bought a porsche and his company went down in flames alongside not paying some artists/writers who still were owed money from dreamwave. IDW is a smaller company than DC or marvel, I compare them to crossgen or image. They handle the Ashley Wodd painted MGS comics. -
Okay fellas. It turns out a bunch of us MW'ers are comic book readers. Some of us are even comic artists in the industry. For what its worth I can say a good majority of us are comic fans. From Justice League, to Batman, V for Vendetta, to Akira. So I thought it was a good time to make a comic thread, so post all your comic book stuff here! What are you all into right now? Any particular artists tickle your fancy? Writers? I LOVE Garth Ennis' writing on the Punisher comic. Very vulgar and violent, but in some way I find it kind of funny at the same time. "Born", "Welcome back frank", and "in the beginning", are awesome reads. And I'm not sure if you guys heard but ultimate avengers (the one recently out on dvd)is set to show on cartoon network. Ultimate avengers 2 will be out in spring of next year I think, and Iron man is set for fall this year. Marvel got back a lot of licenses for movies and tv. They are planning a 26 episode Wolverine animated series. Iron Man's 26 episode series is in the works too. A live action Captain America movie is planned as well. And did you guys see spiderman's new costume? Ick! Too garish. For an iron man made armor costume, it should've been more armored and mechanized looking...right now its like a garish halloween costume. Hopefully the old costume comes back right after the upcoming "civil war" arc. I think if your gonna do an iron man based costume, you mineswell go all out, not half ass it. I had no idea Joe Ng had joined Udon but his stuff from gijoe vs tf vol. 3 looks pretty crisp and refreshingly clean! I also did hear that there will be another Spawn and Batman crossover...w/Greg Capullo on pencils. I am excited about this. But yes what are you all reading now? What do you think of House of M, and infinite crisis?(OMG they killed off so many people!). And in comparison I thought infinite/identity crisis really outdid marvel's house of M by a long shot. And...Bendis did say that Hawkeye is coming back...again. Geez dude shouldn't have killed him off in the first place! And i thought the "winter soldier" storyline in cap america was a rip off of Batman's "return of jason todd storyline". Not to mention the ending sucked for winter soldier. But the batman annual coming up will say how exactly Jason came back.

Aircraft VS super thread!
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thanks man! Doe has anyone seen pics commemorating the retirement of the JASDF F-1? I know it is sooon if not already overwith...and the JASDF comes up with some awesome commemorative schemes. And to celebrate our 100 pager... F-8 vs A-4. The F-8 was a fighter many navy pilots loved. The A-4 was a plane aggressor pilots learned to teach students with and was a manueverable adversary in its own right, though primarily an attack bird. The last F-8s were used in the French aeronavale'. The last A-4 variant was the A-4R....which was morphed into an a2a fighter. So fellas....which is the better fighter? The F-8E/J/P or the A-4R? I say skyhawk gets the avionics advantage but the F-8's got the speed. I say F-8. Discuss! -
I Want To See New Vf-2ss Models And Toys Be Made
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Phalanx's topic in Toys
as much as i was playing devils advocate, I myself would want mac 2 toys, however impossible I think it may be. The VF2SS was awesome yes, but no love for the VF2Ja? That looked like a futuristic F-14 only more badass with a nice bot mode AND more weaponry in standard mode than a VF-2SS(the VF2SS needed SAP for missles, the 2JA already had missle pods, plus the gerwalk mode is awesome it becomes an FSW!!). And no love for the metal siren? I thought it was BADASS. All that weaponry, movable armor, big wings, reminded me of a hummingbird. Am i the only one that likes its aesthetics? -

The witty's always look nice and I always hear many good things about them, however I am still anxiously awaiting a company that will make a fairly decently accurate F-14 diecast that can be handled as a toy. I am HOPING the new FOV F-14A fits that bill....but being that its an all new mold, I fear its more of a model than toy. -

375155 Macross zero did better than macross 2 in japan. That is why there is money to be made. You do realize that macross 2 did not do as well, and that Kawamori himself does not like it? Either way I still want macross 2 valks. I'd LOVE to see what kaiyodo could do with them....they make some dynamic articulated toys....it'd be nice to see a sleek VF-2SS from them able to do the poses found in the cut scenes. Heck, I'd even take swap transformation! -
pass them on to my kids if I have them, and if they are already old too, my grandkids(if I have those as well). Gotta let the newer generations experience macross!! (wouldn't it kick ass if some one said "yea my grandpa loved them bandais and yamatos....man I can't believe they made these 50+ years ago!). And imagine what valk toys could be made 50 years from now with all that technology advancement., whoa

Seriously, if they packaged these things in Battloid mode they could easily be in boxes half the size. I think Yamato is in bed with the shipping companies of the world... 375026 I agree, and that is how the old takatokus and even the macross plus toys were for the most part. However you have to worry about the backpack on the 1/48 breaking in package before even opening. Perhaps if yamato left the backpack unfolded, like the old takatokus, then maybe it would survive shipping. (weren't the old takatokus in battroid mode in box with the backpack unfolded?). I am almost sure had the 1/48 been shipped with backpack folded in battroid, that Bp8 would have been worse than the YF19 tab B incident 5 years back. However I think, if yamato does not sweep the wings all the way in package, and places the missles in sections underneath the fighter rather than beside it in package, that the box size can still be made a lot smaller. Perhaps 2 plastic trays, the big one for the fighter at midsweep, and below it, a thin tray displaying the missles underneath, not spread all out like the 1/48 box. This way, as a potential buyer seeing this on shelf, you can still see the armnaments, still see the wings spread, and it still makes a presentable view! Not to mention smaller box and less cost of shipping. Or yamato can simply polybag the missles and stuff them in a corner of the box. I think wing sweep has if anything, made those boxes gigantic.(they're always at full spread!)

Since they are repainting the 1A a lot...I'd like a MAx TV type.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nice! Finally Shogo pics! I was expecting a Shogo with a bit more attitude, maybe with a self sufficient grin on his face and better hair sculpt, but it looks okay. With the figure for comparsion the Garland looks like a Cadillac now. I've never realised how much anime magic was involved in the OVA Edit: Hey, Shin. I PMed you back a few days ago, did you get it? 374731 I got it dude, I'll reply when I get more artwork up! the garland is looking nice, now I gotta find a copy of megazone 23 and see if it tickles my fancy and makes me crave the toy. The big 16.99 WWI prime is transformable and articulated, the one you just saw was the 3 incher. -
Don't really see what you mean by the knee concealing. Isn't it just the same as the 1/48 with the knee covers? Yeah...i love the way they pose that on the display stand. GAH! This is definately an improvement over the 1/48. I always wondered why they didn't do the full piece turbine in the legs in the 1/48. And they did it in this VF-0. w00ts. I can't decide to leave this in what form. I might just get a whole squadron. >_< There's also the holes in the backpack, the back of the legs and the arms to seemingly fit the VF-1 fastpacks. Well i'm sure the pegs in the arms and the holes in the legs are there for the transformation but the backpack holes....hmmm. It MIGHT fit. But if not, here's waiting on a Ghost fighter. PS: I foresee that there might be a problem with the hands of the VF-0. It looks like you'd have to pull it out of its housing in fighter mode when changing to battroid or gerwalk. Its connected by a wrist joint. So it has to be very tight and durable to handle the pulling. If yammy doesn't do it right, this piece can be the next piece prone for breaking. 374428 Look at the knee joint pictures. The leg on right is the knee bent with no extension. The leg bent on left is fully bent/extended, and shows part of the knee/midleg joint that is concealed in the upper thigh has been revealed. It helps in making the knee joints have a double joint of some sorts. Only reverse. Make sense? Its in the hobby japan scan. Look at the knee closeup on the bottom left, the pic explains itself.
-
That stand and the way its displayed loook badass. Seems to be a very solid toy!! Anyone notice that the lower legs EXTEND to reveal the knee joints>? And when folded up, they CONCEAL the knee/mid thigh joints as well! BRILLIANT!!
-
They were mentioned earlier in another thread.

1/18 scale PV VF-1.(yeayea big so what, I got a 1/18 BBI F/A-18 for xmas and since the VF-1 is similar in size to an F=16. it might not even be as big as the F/A-18 I got). 12"DX RX-78-2 gundam and zaku toys. It puzzles me WHY bandai america did not even bother trying to design/make these when gundam 0079 was on tv a few years back. Ahhhh!!
