1. To my knowledge there hasn't been a big jug and wolverine rivalry in the comics. I say put freaking SABRETOOTH in the spinoff movie! Either that or the crimelords he fought in madripoor as Patch.
2. Being that its set for september release, I'm pretty sure its a while...at earliest maybe late 2004, or maybe spring 2005.
3. Dude this things got a 30cm length/height. In comparison THS-02 was TINY. So I think they got a ton more room to make a true masterpiece with this one. Course I understand where you are coming from though,
4. ? That would be a totally new concept vehicle that wouldn't fit in the Masterpiece line as it wouldn't be an accurate homage to an original character. Please, no Jetfire, we have our Valks for that. Skyfire though, I will take in a heartbeat. 393660 Thing is we are already getting a skyfire in the neo G1 line and in the titanium line. I would LOVE to have an alternator or masterpiece F-14 somehow.
5. David can probably answer this one in more detail, but the subjects come up before (most famously, in relation to the anime series Area-88, where an aircraft is able to survive a cunning trap by folding its wings in flight) here. IIRC, the F-8 Crusader can fly in certain flight profiles with wings folded, but not the F-4. 393656 I've heard the F-8 and F/A-18 can. not so sure about the F-4.
6. GOD I HOPE KAWAMORI DECIDES HE WANTS TO MAKE AN F-14 SKY/JETFIRE AS WELL...HOLY HELL WHAT A GOOD MACROSS/TF HOMAGE THAT WOULD BE!! ANd I think this will be 1/48 scale judging by the 30cm size given out
7. They are 1/144 and are the SEED versions of Gundam FIX, made of the same material.
8. Hey guys, just to ease our frustration, how about NO ONE POST HERE UNTIL ACTUAL PICS SURFACE OR SOMEONE BUYS ONE AND PROVIDES PICS?! I think that might help.
9. Thing is even though its called "ultimate avengers", its more similar to the regular avengers books rather than "the ultimates". The movie is truly a victim of misleading.
10. No from what I heard, he is getting BOTH. The live action in a few more years, the animated one relatively soon. I just saw the ua movie on cartoon network, not bad. Nothing too surprising, although I truly think this would have been better had they NOT called this "ultimate" nor used the character designs/costumes from "the ultimates" comic book. Had they used the regular timeline costumes/character designs and simply called this "Avengers:the animated movie", I bet most of you dissapointed with this would have had no problem with it. For me the big problem is similar to what most of you complained about, it was mistitled and therefore misleading. We thought, by the name and DVD cover, that this would be an animated version of "the ultimates". Bottom line? IT ISN'T So in the end, it wasn't all that bad, I'd consider buying it, I just think it was a regular avengers movie that got mistitled and used the looks of the costumes from the ultimate avengers.
11. Looks like the wave kit
12. Ah i see now. Have any of you guys picked up the new BBI corsair? Or old crow P-51? And Kingnor, the latest lightning out is the pudgy V special edition. I am considering getting that if they still have some available by the end of the year. I hope BBI makes one. With my experience, I think 21st is good, but BBI seems more suited to my tastes, but it won't stop me from collecting both. I'd just like to see what BBI could come up with. Also I hope we hear soon about a BBI hellcat or A-10. If there were big items coming from them that would shock us, those 2 would be it. And hopefully a tigercat and bearcat are made as well.
13. is it snap together, or do you need cement and paint?
14. as far as I know, noone hear does yet. I am planning to get one eventually, unless BBI makes one. Which I would definitely buy. Hows it a shame? They sell many more things aside toys, so for whatever cost cut they do on toys, they make up in profits from other venues like food in electronics, thing with walmart, they sell damn near everything cheap and a ton of people shop there so trust me even if they sell 1/18 planes for less, they aren't really losing much money at all. Besides....the avenger from what I read, will NOT be 39.99@walmart...it is confirmed to be sold at walmart later this year but most of us think it will be 54.99(and be happy the online price is 54.99 too....some sites were listing it up for preorder for 80$ before 21st gave out the msrp). And marine's dream and the new corsair repaint from BBI are@TRU for 45.99. The old crow P-51 mustang repaint is out as well for 39.99. The black kiowa just came out as well for 19.99. And the new figs and paratroops can be found@TRU. Some of those were 4.99, so actually cheaper than some gijoe figures. The paratroopers were 6.99. Kind of on track where what you were going with, when gijoe left mass market, it became a TRU exclusive in the late 90s. Since TRU wanted something in the absence of mass market gijoe(to fill in their place), 21st century toys made the 1/18 ultimate soldier 1/18 scale line(which was an expansion of their 1/6 scale line which TRU was already selling). 21st started off with WWII toys in 1/18 back in 2000. Thing is, 1/18 XD left TRU a couple years later, and ended up getting picked up by walmart, where it has the crappiest distribution in comparison(when it was @TRU, I was ALWAYS able to find stuff even though I wasn't collecting it back then, but at walmart now>? HELL no...God...I have not even seen the new tool mustang OR starfighter with my own eyes...and the starfighter S1 has been out since last summer!). When it got to walmart, the msrp for planes was also raised up by 10$. To fill in the void that 21st century toys was leaving@TRU, BBI toys came into the fray and became a TRU and online/hobby store exclusive. Thing is BBI stepped up the level of detail, articulation, and mold accuracy. Their P-51 totally OWNS the old 21st XD P-51. Not to mention, BBI was the 1st to put in modern 1/18 scale jets...they surprised everyone with their hornet, and their 1/18 scale big helos. While 21st made a Huey, BBI came out with a freaking apache. Huge difference. So I think BBI is making these toys for the guys who grew up with small gijoes. Back when I was a kid, I liked the gijoe scale even though the vehicles were out of scale. For what hasbro had to work with, they did a good job. But I wanted more...I knew when I got older things would be better and some company would make realistic 1/18 scaled toys. And this is why I love BBI. And which is why I still yearn for a 1.18 scale tomcat. I don't care who tells me its too big. I'll eventually get a Jug...thats a huge bird.
15. Cool! Reminds me of vintage 1950's USAF schemes in plain metal. If you paint the randome black with a stripe leading from the nose to the canopy like on the lowviz 2, then it will look even more like a vintage USAF 50's fighter!
16. reddsun, the f/a-18 is up for pre order again on some sites, its set for reissue pretty soon. And I DO have that black jolly roger hornet. Very cool! Its more like 2ft and 1/2. Pretty damn big. Makes every gijoe plane look small. Hell the BBI 1/18 mustang makes BBI planes look small so go figure. I recomend the BBI hornet. Made to be played with, very durable, as if they designed it knowing guys like me would be playing with it all the time. I think its about 10 lb...it is heavy and big. I am always astounded by the quality BBI brings to their product. I have 2 BBI product and 1 21st century(BBI Mustang and Hornet, 21st XD Ah-1 cobra), and I've gotta say I think BBI slightly edges out 21st in regards to quality. Though I did hear that the F-`104 is the best 1/18 jet yet! 21st is set to release the MIG-15 and F-86 this summer SIDE BY SIDE, and a ME-262(FINALLY!!). I am eventually going to buy a new tool mustang from them but not until they make the new tool WITH the gunlockers(the new tool releases as of yet do not have the gun lockers..its promised later on ). Eventually I want a.. -new tool mustang w/gun lockers from 21st century(I still doubt it would beat my BBI one...but the gun lockers will make or break it I suppose, comparisons so far say the 21st one is just about even with the BBI one...but with gun lockes it will DEFINITELY make the new tool slightly more appealing). -a stuka -a BBI corsair and debating whether or not I should get a 21st bunker hill corsair -a JUG...maybe razorback..although I am leaning back and forth b/w a bubbletop and razorback. -A lightning. -nightfighter ME-109 -F-104....smoke II, silver, or german, whatever the hell I can find, I hear s4 is the bavarian commerative scheme version shown on ebay a few months back. -Avenger. Do any of you have the 21st new tool mustang or corsair, AND the BBI mustang and corsair? If so please compare and contrast!
17. You're under a slight misapprehension there, Phalanx. The early marks of Spitfire had eight .303" machine guns. Somewhat less impressive than 20mm cannon, I think you'll agree. Cannon were introduced slowly because their explosive ammunition was not reliable at first, among other reasons. Mid-mark Spitfires went to two cannon and four machine guns, then to four cannon.I'd still stick with a Mk.1a because it's so pretty! 392646 Spits were intended quite early on to carry the Hispano II 20mm Cannon, however it was the design of the Spitfire, not the ammunition that prevented its early introduction. Apparently the weapon was inteded to be fusalage mounted, but instead came to be wing mounted, which was not stable enough and made the gun prone to jamming. There was also problems with the gun freezing over. However when it did work, the Hispano cannon did impressive damage, to the point that the War Ministry kept production lines going, even though no plane mounted the weapon. Personally I like late mark spitfires, such as the MK XIV, up to the MK XXIV and my personal favorite, the spiteful. 392697 Whats the spiteful?
18. Hey guys, I picked up cybertron optimus over the weekend, and for those of you who have been itching for a good mainline prime since RID prime, BUY CYBERTRON PRIME NOW!! This is honestly the best Prime I have bought since fire convoy and scourge. Holy hell is he awesome....a removable MATRIX....ratchets up the wazoo....HUGE FRIGGIN WEAPONRY!!...an opening matrix chamber...holy crap this is the futuristic prime articulated to hell that I have been waiting for ever since watching g1 reruns in the 3rd grade. Now as a college student my wish finally comes true! God man this blows armada and energon prime AWAY. As a matter of fact, if you need only one forget the other 2, buy THIS guy! This is the best mainline prime incarnation yet...edging out my love for scourge and my old laser convoy. Those were my faves for so long...till now. And GOD this guy is HUGE! Not just his combined mode but his regular mode! If anything this is what a modernized prime with a futuristic look would look like to me. Yessur! Hell I haven't even bought most of cybertron, a leobreaker(waiting for dark one), or wing saber yet and I already think this prime is awesome. I assume megatron is just as awesome.
19. Hey guys was the Jug a good fighter? It looks HUGE and I did hear its best trait was its dive and zoom tactics due to its speed and momentum. looks fierce. The hellcat is awesome. I hope BBI comes through with that thing. One of the first grumman cats to kick major ass. What do you guys think of the Tigercat? Do you think it could take the hellcat on? How about against the corsair? And for the sake of vs discussion... P-47 bubbletop jug vs P-51D mustang hellcat vs tigercat vs corsair 3 way matchup seafire vs hellcat seafre vs P-51D P-51D vs ME-109 P-51D vs BF-109 IL-2 Sturmovik vs Stuka(which was the better attacker and had the best self defense capability?) P-51D vs Zero Bearcat vs Tigercat vs Hellcat vs Corsair(4 way matchip...3 grumman felines against each other and a corsair thrown in for good measure). The more I hear about a2a in ww2...the more I became infatuated with it and more reason for me to buy some more 1/18 scale warbirds! btw knight26....you partially introduced me to the hobby with your BBI hornet review that I asked you about last year. Do you have any BBI or 21st century warbirds? Also I did hear the Jug was known for ground attack..but was it a killer in a2a? For that matter, which was a better fighter, that or the Lightning?
20. Wow guys... I had no idea some german aces had over 300 kills to their credit! MAn no wonder WW2 is such a popular subject for dogfighting! I keep hearing about the Bunker Hill corsairs and avengers as well. Any interesting P-47 thunderbolt ace stories? Mustangs? btw for those interested... the Forces of valor black knight diecast F-14A just arrived@badcataviation. http://badcataviation.com/usftomcatbkn.html IF anyone knows of existing or new galleries with it please link! And if anyone has or intends to buy it, let us know what you think about it!
21. I usually see the nightfighter ME-109, a BF-109, various bubbletop jugs, and the sky captain P-40. As if I see everything BUT the damn F-104! Hell the new tool P-51D's are out there and if I can't even find the F-104., my chances of finding the retooled Mustang are slim to none. Not that it matters much, as I do hear the BBi Mustang I have rivals even the new tool 21st century mustang. Myk, you should definitely pick up the BBI mustang....it is far superior to the XD Mustang you have pictured!(not trying to blast the Xd Mustang, but man the BBI one is freaking gorgeous and DURABLE as well, MADE FOR PLAY!). Alas, I shall wait for distribution to pick up. I can't stomach ordering a F-104 and avenger online knowing that one day both will sluggishly find their way to the local walmarts months behind the rest of the nations walmarts.
22. i got 3 but this is the 1/18 scale thread, not 8 inch gijoe.
23. Agreed redsun!~ Though I tend to like some of the gijoe vehicles for what they are, to me BBI and21st century's 1/18 stuff totally kicks ass though, and is definitely "the toy for the big boy". I have heard that some fans have found the german F-104 at walmart but hell i have not even seen the silver S1 version yet! ANd if you like the huey, you'll LOVE the cobra. Best thing I bought on discount at hungates! I just recently got BBI's killer P-51D, and I must say that thing was hard to put down, too much fun messing with! Hell...I have a hard time saying which I like more, my black VFA-103 F/A-18 or my Killer P-51D....just goes to show how far BBI goes within less than a year of development! (btw I recommend ANY of BBI's warbirds!!....fans tell me their corsair and mustang are better than the 21st century XD line's mustang and corsair...even better than 21st's newly retooled mustang! Now thats something!)
24. A personal favourite of mine is a chap called Adrian Warburton. Some of you may recall news stories about a missing British "ace" whose remains were only recently recovered in Germany a couple years back. A little background is needed - when I was growing up, it was still possible to buy very un-politically correct war comics in England. One of my favourite stories was about one "Sgt. Fury" of the RAF, a blond, blue-eyed mystery airman who would turn up from nowhere, take-off, perform some impossible air mission against all odds, and disappear as mysteriously as he appeared. Adrian Warburton was as close to being a real life "Sgt. Fury" as it was about as possible to get in actual combat operations. He flew most of his career in the Mediterranean, as a recon pilot for the RAF. He was most famously involved with the island of Malta. Aircraft he flew were responsible for at least nine kills, which may not make him a great fighter ace, but his primary role was photo-missions - and some have claimed that Warburton may just have been the greatest recon pilot of all time. He was known for being seemingly utterly fearless and for always, always getting his pictures. He once famously flew back to a fully alerted enemy harbour after overflying it once, just so that his crew could settle an argument over how many battleships they'd seen docked there. One odd aspect of Warburtons career is that, although his skill in the air was often praised (he earned a DSO, DFC, and unsusually, a US DFC plus the eventual rank of Wing Commander), he never learned to take-off properly, and most accounts describe his take-off runs with a mixture of awe and terror. Warburton disappeared over Germany in April 1944. He was 26 years old. His remains were not discovered for about 50 years, and it was typical of "Warbys" reputation that there was much speculation during that time that he somehow returned to Malta and lived the rest of his days in secret there. Sadly, this turned out not to be the case, but if you know of Warburtons exploits its easy to understand why many people could believe it. Further information can be found in the books "Warburtons War" by Tony Spooner and "Fortress Malta" by James Holland. 391584 Sounds VERY interesting! What did he fly?
25. Because its been a sony brand for so long? Thats like asking why gran turismo didn't show up on gamecube or xbox
