Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There will never be a YF-19 or any of the post SDF Macross VF fighters with the "RT" brand on it! HG owns half the international rights to SDF Macross TV animation ONLY! This has been a judgement handed down to Tatsunoko (the other owner of the rights) by the Japanese courts, that could easily be upheld in North America. Thus any infringement by HG would find an immediate court challenge by Big West itself, not to mention "Manga Ent.", who currently holds the North American license for Macross Plus and Macross II. Studio Nue and BW both own all character and mecha designs for the Macross franchise worldwide according to the Japanese courts. Thus if a legal challenge were to result from the RT Macross toy line, there would be room for BW to argue infringement. So it makes the most sense for RT to continue the RT story based on Mospeada designs rather than Macross. Mospeada is wholey owned by Tatsunoko Studios. This legal stuff is further discussed in this thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...153&hl=big+west 409598 Oh i know. I was just explaining stuff so no one would get confused. -

More things I just remembered. -They have considered doing an MMORPG but most of those games in their eyes have not done well. Still its a possibility in the future -They want to buy their video game license back from TDK. Apparently when TDK had new management take over...or was bought out..wait which one got bought out? Eh either way when the company that now has the license came to fruition, according to Steve Yun, "all that company cared about was their Shrek license". -They did mention that robotech has hundreds of characters and just because they do not show up in the first shadow chronicles movie does not mean they are dead. They said if they put more characters into the first movie that there would not be any room for character development with the main characters for that movie. -

It seems to be just the tip of the bar that''s breaking, where it narrows and changes from a rectangular cross section to a circular cross section. Graham 409392 I see. I wonder if they can fix it somehow in the next releases. Here is the link on yamato's page where they have a visual guide of transforming that area. http://www.yamato-toys.com/after/info/info060609.html- 1056 replies

DUDE THAT IS AWESOME!!~ Any pics? -
Hey guys I eventually plan on getting a VF-0. Sometime later this year. I am happy with the hikaru 1S 1/48 I purchased 2 years back. My question is, since I liked the 1/48, how well does the VF-0 toy stack up? You boys think I'd like it? Discuss!

I wouldn't say that, there are a lot of members who have gotten ones that have not broken yet. Yamato did post up a guide to transforming the arms on their site, I read it over@toyboxdx last night.- 1056 replies

MasterPiece Collection v1.1
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I first saw the gakken 5 years back at this anime store in socal. I forgot the name but it had a ton of vintage macross and mospeada displayed in the store. I was floored by the size of the gakken. I still want to get one MIB eventually. Do the wrists swivel? -
I think they confirmed they would some months back.

LOL They are the 2 main site admins. Shawn started macrossworld in 2000 I believe...maybe 99, either way most of the veterans met on an old old macross forum way back when. One of those rec.art newsgroup things I think. Yes they are real. Graham was the one who gave a lot of information concerning toycom's then Macross Plus toyline. After toycom became yamato usa, Graham gave us info concerning yamato's japanese releases. He basically gave info in a newsletter covering everything macross coming out in asia, from magazine scans, model kits, toys, and video games. He also did a majority of the reviews for the site. The only reason you don't see them from time to time is because of work(Shawn's been absent for a LONG time too!) How to become like Graham>? Move to Hong Kong, and try to start good relations with yamato's office there. Thing is Graham has known them for years, so maybe your best bet is to introduce yourself as the shizuoka hobby shows or wonderfests.

That might be because the banpresto had all the transformation joints bulging out and built into the design. I think the doyushas were 1/144 but I might be wrong. I think the SDCC VF-1D went for a high price a while after it was over. Either way the hikaru 1s is just 5$ over MSRP so its not bad for a limited edition exclusive.

Yup then that must have been Vince's ship getting blown apart. So yes Vince may die lol. Sorry for the confusion fellas. And I had no idea what to call the REF or whatever when I asked about the fighters, but Steve knew where I was coming from. The only southern cross thing I'd like to see is a revamped ajax. There was a blue alpha in the footage but I am not sure if it was Scott's. Someone also asked about the "escort" mission in battlecry and proclaimed how pissed off he was at it.(All you gotta do is make sure you keep destroying the male power armors whenever they get near the cats eye). -

Four (hell, seven) years ago Robotech fans had just a good of a grasp of the origins of Robotech and different between Robotech and Macross. Believing otherwise is a commonly held misconception in the Macross community. 409124 My mistake, my view stemmed from how I saw the other fans from the panel this weekend. (Some of them seriously had not known at all about the MPC's!) Me myself, I hated the masters portion/southenn cross part of robotech. I really didn't care if it was in shadow chronicles or not. The story did nothing for me, and maybe its my bias but I was so used to variable aircraft...so macross and mospeada to me were always best. I think Steve mentioned Dana would be in this too. -
I think they were smaller... like 1/144. My takatoku 1/100 is about 1/3 bigger than that. Maybe 4 inches tall. 409102 banpresto were 1/144. EXO, can you post size comparison pics between your taka 1/100 and other valks?

Thing is, I don't see the point of adding the macross titles from japan into robotech. More fans know that macross and robotech went into seperate continuities in comparison from lets say 4 years back when robotech was not as popular and most rt fans had no idea. Besides adding more macross to it would only confuse the storyline and fans even more. Not to mention piss off fans as well. Robotech has evolved into its own thing, and I think it should keep going that way. I love macross and grew up on robotech, and I believe you can love both without having to take sides and hate one while love the other. The way I see it Macross and Robotech at this point are very different and they should stay that way. In the panel no one really brought up legalities, it was pretty much understood that the story for shadow chronicles was planned and written in America and from what I saw, had no story influences from the later macross sequels whatsoever. Harmony Gold already has a ton of flak for their handling of Macross, so in addition, once again I highly doubt they'd even try to tie in more macross into it. Besides that, it would make them seem very unoriginal in light of them making totally new productions(shadow chronicles). Either way I hope for the best and I left the panel impressed by Shadow Chronicles. Oh yea I did ask Steve about internships for illustrators but he said any production work would be done by people with experience already in the industry and that Tommy Yune does the character designs. -

They never mentioned anything of macross zero or plus being used in robotech future projects at all. Some fans asked about overlapping in the japanese series and in robotech here, and robotech is going in its own direction apart from the japanese series it was originally based on. Thats all. I can't believe I forgot to ask if max and miriya would return! -

Not sure. I think she was mentioned during a joke but I don't think anyone really asked about her. -
Banprestos? Not to me. These look like variable versions of the super poseable figures toynami put out some years back. I am almost sure the head is reused. Hell the size seems pretty similar as well. As for banpresto, eh I think these look more refined. The banprestos looked very scrawny, but then I say to myself, "what more can i expect for a candy machine toy?": And when I look at the new toynamis I say "what more can I expect for a 20$ toy?". Its bang for the buck, you get 4 sets of regular missles, 4 DYRL cluster missles in the black box, a STAND that can be used in all 3 modes, a toy that has superior sculpting and articulation to the MPC's, and a VF-1 in a scale not used since bandai in the mid 80's, and heck this toy does blow the bandai 1/100 DYRL hikaru VF-1A away in every sense of the word aside retractable landing gear. Not to mention the box looks like it can be reusable as well. And cockpit detail would be pretty simple at that scale...if not minimal. Have you guys seen 1/100 fighter cockpits? They are not even close to 1/60! Tiny in comparison. I see banprestos selling from 12-17$. This line is set for 20$ releases. I'd pay the 20$. And besides knowing the simplicity of these smaller toys, they probably will have better qc than toynami's bigger MPC releases. And Kingnor these were first announced months back@fall toyfair 05. Figures.com had the first pics. TO me these are basically what the super poseable figures "SHOULD have been".

Okay, do you guys remember who Bowie was? Bowie was the whiny kid who was like "Oh I so hate being in the military." "Oh, I just want to play piano Dana." "Oh Dana, why do I have to fight?" Then he fell in love with Musica and ran away from the military with her committing God knows how many illegal acts in the process. At what point does any of that sound like commander material? 409041 No clue but he is much older in the teaser we were shown. Not to mention I think his ship gets blown up. So maybe he doesn't last very long... *though I am not sure we were not shown the part right after the explosion*. -

No probs fellas, I'm just as eager for answers as the rest of you! And really George Sohn should hold toynami panels, as most of my questions were about the toys..(hell I asked about 95% of all the toy questions yesterday and today!). If the masterpieces were to be retooled for shadow chronicles with diecast in the strain areas of the arm, and RATCHETS on the shoulders rather than friction joints, then I think the toys would fare better. And I think they would do even MORE better if they go with the current rt.com price of 59.99, I'm sure a lot of us would have bought more on the get go with that price rather than 80$. With toynami's 1st releases, they definitely had growing pains, and the 80$ was always hard to justify(I never got mine for full msrp, got rick and ben for both for 100$ togethere, and 10$ for roy@local gamestop delisting sale 2 years back), but with the alphas I figured they would have done better. At least at this point they should know where the problem areas are, and hopefully the new alphas and beta turn out as good as their voltron. If anything I want 20$ alpha and betas. -

Beast wars was good. Surprisingly it consists mostly of the obscure beast wars characters, some of whom never shown on the show! I am reading gijoe vs the transformers vol3 right now(the current one) and it is AWESOME! Art is by Udon. If you loved the tf cartoon, and the old gijoe cartoon, you'll feel right at home reading this. It doesnt follow a set continuity so even readers out of the loop can get into it without feeling lost. I don't care to read infiltration, the artwork is doing nothing for me. Surprisingly a lot of people like Ej Su's work and started getting on me for not liking it much, I'm just not a big fan, the vehicles he draws are so bland an unaccurate, and well his work is just not dynamic enough to appeal to me. Now had it been James Raiz or Don Figueroa or Joe Ng drawing it, THEN I'd read it. -

actually you could argue with the headmasters it helped the transformation as the removal of the head meant you no longer had to factor it into the transformation. 408985 And it became a PILOT too!! And that my friends, is why headmasters were my all time faves. Piloted mecha over sentient forever!!
