The 2nd Coming of the YF-19
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Very very different. Models aren't meant to transform a lot, whereas a toy has to be able to go through multiple transformations and stay in one piece. Durability is one of the big things here. The models are mainly for display but a toy is for play and display. THe styrene on models kits tends to be pretty thin, where as a toy for the most part has thicker plastic. They serve different purposes. Modelers might be able to make something look freaking awesome but for the most part all your supposed to do with it after its built, is LOOK AT IT. Where as a toy can be played with OR looked at. Still, yamato's got some amazing sculptors on hand and they can make a hell of a great looking toy. And I always say this but leave the models to modelers, if they want something they are barely going to mess with and look good they should buy hasegawa. I want a TOY! -

Not sure about Tarantulus. Primal and Megatron reissues look like crap? Your not talking about the originals retooled for japan released in the 2 pack are you? That one might be coming to TRU as an exclusive. And those ones kicked ass. WE are getting the original primal and megatron for TRU but so far we are not sure if its the japanese retool or if its just the original molds. The mass market new mold primal and megatron coming out...well primal sucks but megatron is a keeper for sure. These are sold individually. Mainframe never implemented every feature found in the toyline onto the show. -
Would You Buy A New Perfect Variable 1/60 Vf-1?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
I think diecast actually hampered the original 1/60. The weight made the hips turn loose as hell. If Yamato were to ever remake the 1/60 VF-1 I think the inital releases should be in paint schemes they never made yet. Like the TV Max type VF-1A, the angel birds, etc. -
Get the toynami 1/100 line later this summer, MORE poseable by far, and plus variable as well. 20$

Would You Buy A New Perfect Variable 1/60 Vf-1?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
Dude I agree, and besides, it seems that if anything new macrosswise is to come out from yamato it probably will be in 1/60 scale. A PV valk of high quality and aesthetics with great durability cheaper than a 1/48 around 60$ would be GREAT! And I want a VF-3000 and VF-4 like many of you do. -

See thats the thing too, Billy Wong worked on the original VF-1 1`/60 and the macross plus 1/72 toys. Nishikawa helped but he had the main duties for the 1/48 and look how that turned out. I'd love to see what Nishikawa could pull off in the 1/60 scale aided by CAD. I find it funny that the 1/60's hands were bgger than the 1/48's. I like the size of the 1/60 and heck a VF-1 under 100$ and made by yamato would be cool. Besides haven't any of you grabbed your VF-1 1/60s and pondered "what if?" -

bear in mind those toys were designed in 94 and released in 95. The funny thing was, all through armada and energon, most of us kept battyING for beast wars quality in our new toys! That didn't happen till cybertron. Beast wars was one of the only lines to have FULL ARTICULATION in each and every figure. Almost all the first wave figures back then had a mutant head and a robot head. It was to play on the fact that they were beasts. The ultra sized Optimus Primal had a bat head; the real reasoning behind this is because the toy initially was to be a tripple changer... gorilla-bat-robot To my knowledge the beast head was called a "mutant mask" back then they were awesome and to me they still are. They are godsends comparing to some of the atrocities we got in armada and energon. and car robots/RID was a prominently vehicle alt mode based line with beast wars level articulation. -
Hey fellas. Its been 5 years since Yamato released their very first 1/60 VF-1. Back then we thought we had witnessed divine intervention for we finally got a new superbly sculpted and accurate VF-1 toy in nearly 20 something years. So the 1/48 came out, we all crapped our pants and bought that. It was awesome and life was good. We neglected our 1/60s and the 1/48 made it painfully obvious how the 1/60 was lacking. PERFECT VARIABLE was the name of the game. So yamato surprises us with the VF-0, mating perfect variability with awesome sculpt. They are doing it once again with the YF-19. And yet when the YF-19 comes out, it and the VF-0 totally outshine our 1/60 VF-1's. The 1/60 scale line is Yamato's largest by far for Macross. Its been 5 years. Do you think they should totally redesign their 1/60 VF-1 from scratch and make it perfect variable? I could do without the 1/48's features such as flaps, radar cone, intake covers, stuff like that. What I could not deal without with would be PERFECT TRANSFORMATION. And being that the VF-0 lacked radar and flaps on the toy and not many of you are complaining, I tend to think most of you could do without those features on a new smaller VF-1 toy as well. I would love a new VF-1 perfect variable in 1/60 scale. it'd be cheaper than the 1/48, have more detail than the old 1/60, and fit in better with the new VF-0 and YF-19 than the old VF-1 toys. Discuss!

Funny thing that the 1/100 VF-1s that toynami is letting out this summer are more poseable than the super poseables.

The 2nd Coming of the YF-19
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
CAD wasn't really an innovation with the VF-0. Magnets yes, but CAD, no. CAD was used on the 1/48 VF-1. I wasn't surprised at all that the VF-0 was designed in CAD and I think its a given that the YF-19 will be the same way. What I think would be an innnovation would be an 2 part opening split canopy. (Like how its seen in eps3/4 when Isamu and Yang enter the craft, and when Yang is ejected). A covering to cover the 2nd cockpit would be cool to(the shell like thing that showed up when Yang ejected). I think Yamato could pull this off buy making the rear part of the canopy hinged and swappable, so that the hinge remains to enable folding but is swappable at the point immediately afterwards, to enable the shell covering or 2nd canopy glass. Besides, no YF-19 toy at this point has an accurately opening canopy. -

They tried that on the original YF-21. There was a toycom ad from france some years back where they advertised the VF-22 Max type. But Yamato couldn't get the macross 7 license. Still, I hope that if yamato does make a 1/60 YF-21, they retool it sometime later into a VF-22 from VFX-2. Hey we DID get a VF-19A from that game! Now that I think about it, a 1/60 VF-11B in the VFX-2 color scheme would kick all ass as well. I gotta thing for that VF-11, it may be outshined by the YF-19, but damn thats one beautiful bird that never got the justice it deserved! -
The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I agree. I've always argued that yamato's valks were way more durable than everyone tended to say. I hated when a lot of the members from some time back always said the 1/48 felt so fragile and like a model kit. I still think those people never even bothered to play or manhandle it, and IMHO it can be manhandled. Model kits in my hands always break. After 3 years, my 1/48 is still in 1 piece. You are right about the VF-19A, it may irritate me with the numerous paint scratches and loose arm joints, but man that thing is pretty darn solid. The new 1/60 blows it away and I have no doubt it will probably be more durable. Sure as hell looks better too With yamato I notice that they have taken a lot of huge chances for such a small company. While a company like bandai or kaiyodo focuses on gundam or eva, yamato comes out of nowhere with a garland. A variable one at that. I just think they have some growing pains along the process. Technically its their first variable toy other than macross, so to me I can understand why the toy may have some problems that can be corrected in later revised toys. So hopefully revisions are made and the later toys can be enjoyed for all they are worth. Lord knows this Garland has been in demand for some time. Speaking of which I wonder if Shawn bought one yet? And Ginrai, judging by how yamato USA responded to you, I think they will send the parts. Also, I bought the hikaru VF-1S 1/48 3 years back. I read your MPC reviews way back in 02, and I remember telling you back then that I agreed completely with your review, even though the MPC was getting so much flak back then. Judging by how you felt about it, trust me, you will LOVE the 1/48. Besides unlike the garland, the 1/48 has had numerous runs and chances of getting a lemon are much less than they were than when they first came out. Hopefully I can see a garland w/my own eyes pretty soon. I admit it does look rather tempting.- 1056 replies

Ginrai, sorry to hear about the breakage. Hopefully a 2nd run can fix the problems, but I do understand how you feel nonetheless. Buy reading your reviews for the past few years, I can pretty much say your definitely careful with your toys, so hearing about the breakage surprised me. I was so hoping to see a review of this on masterforce.org! Eh guess we have to wait till yamato makes a better garland.- 1056 replies

Yes but that japanese fighter actually looks good, unlike the JSF. I say kill the JSF, give the USAF more raptors, and the Marines with an all super bug fleet! (F/A-18E to replace the F/A-18C's, F/A-18F to replace the F/A-18D's, and EA-18G or F/A-18F w/mission swappable components for EW to replace the EA-6B's. Then maybe the X-35B, also sell it to the UK and India). -
The nuclear engines were more efficient and able to cram in more advanced technology and components in less space. The conventional jet engines in the VF-0 were much larger, and older, not as modular. Aside that the nuke engines were relatively new, the VF-0's jet engines were old in comparison to the VF-1's.

If Yamato does a Ghost, I bet they will make a giftset of Shin's VF-0A w/Ghost. Since the VF-0A is set for later this year, I bet if a giftset IS made, it and a simultaneous release of a solo VF-0A Shin type would be out by spring 07. Heck It wouldn't surprise me if we see a VF-0A/S w/Ghost giftset at some point displayed@winter wonderfest this year. I hope the VF-0A set for release has black skull and crossbones in addition to the white skulls and bunny symbols. The black reverse skull and crossbones logo always looked cool since its mainly applied to low viz fighters.

Oooh, WAY better than my Han Solo blue coat vs. brown coat reference! Now, this bit of info may have been pushed out of my brain by all of the recent fuss, but has there been a confirmation on Starscream's scale or size? I seem to remember it being reported that he's not the same height as Masterpiece Prime. Personally, I think it would be cool if he was in scale with the Yammie 1/48 VF-1 and 1/60 VF-0. 411079 He's 1/60 scale so he is the same scale as the yammie VF-0. Someone@tfw did some measurements a few weeks back and I remember the fighter mode being longer than the robot height. Not sure of the exact measurements though. -

nope, not me... I hated those toys. I haven't thought about buying one until now. hehe. 410250 I know how you feel man. I had buyer's remorse right after my VF-11B's hips snapped off. And after Ibought the VF-19A, I felt it should have had more locking mechanisms and tighter ratchets. For something that heavy it should have been more secure. But at that time I was like "OMG this looks WAY better and more accurate than my bandai fire valk!". -

I hope we get a YF-21 and VF-11 in this scale. And I agree with Dobber too, bring on the SV-51!!! Hey and VF-0D. BTw this beats the crap out of the very first YF-19 toy they did some years back. Remember way back when we thought that thing was pure gold? LOL!!! -

Haha! You like southern cross! Haha! (just joking) Hey, if it's any consolation, my wife and I like the HG voice actors from Robotech better than the original Japanese Macross and especially the new english dub Macross. Lisa's voice actor was badass in Robotech. Which reminds me... WILL WE GET TO SEE LISA HAYES AGAIN??????? 409822 Being that she was leading SDF-3 into space and Rick is in it, and the SDF-3 is in it, yes. -

In the sims I played it accelerates faster than the phantom and fishbed, but hell the phantom can outturn that thing given common conditions. When pulling a 7g turn the radius is VERY wide. That thing sure is a rocket with wings though! -

Aircraft Vs Super Thread! 2
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Nied's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I remember asking about this in the old thread as well. I think we all concluded that the MIG-21 might have the advantage. But both of them are known to be very fast as well, thing is would the F-104 even have a chance? The MIg-21's got it in a turn but I think the F-104 could potentially out accelerate it, dive down, split S and shoot a winder up the fishbed's tailpipe. But it would probably have a smaller window of opportunity than the fishbed since the fishbed is so much more nimbler and presumably has a higher instantaneous pitch rate. I guess its a moment of chance for the F-104 in the end. Thing is I heard it was made for air superiority, not just interception. And it faired well as a fighter bomber(limited armnament though. By today's standards it didn't carry much). I found the special edition 21st century toys 1/18 scale luftwaffe F-104 and promptly put it on layaway. I noticed the sidewinders are mounted on the belly. Is there a reason for doing so? Wouldn't the fuel tanks on the wingtips give it a lot more drag?(Thats how it is on the toy and some pics I have seen too). Wouldn't that diminish its roll rate? -
