  1. They did, but who knows if it expired or not? It has been a couple of years. I wouldn't be surprised if Nishikawa signed a work for hire contract, where Yamato owns whatever he designs for them and he just gets paid for his labor and such. I doubt he owns any rights to alterations on his design.
  2. I wonder what special color scheme Kawamori will design for the 19. More repaints sounds good for it! If smaller boxes drive down the price then I am all for it! Hell I'm content with shoving all the missles in a baggy if they can save money and space doing so. THe transformable item....ORguss? Dangaioh? Heh I dunnno. Its probably something cool.
  3. I bet it will look awesome and we see our first pics at summer wonderfest 08
  4. One thing I would have absolutely loved was a more F-14 based, sleeker cockpit. Ramjet has one, why not Jetfire? Nonetheless since the nose is an homage to the cartoon g1 skyfire, I can live with it. Still...it would look cool if it had an F-14's nose and canopy. Its the best mass market tf jet since g2 cyberjet jetfire. And he is obviously better than the armada trilogy jetfires(as cool as some of those were, I was tired of seeing Jetfire as some shuttle or cargo plane). I think I am in the minority here but I actually like the helmet and armored look.....mainly because it changes the appearance substantially. With this I feel like I am getting more bang for the buck than paying the same for prime and megatron. BTW Toysrus is having a buy 2, get 1 free sale on ALL tf merchandise til new years. I recently bought Grimlock, Mirage, and Bumblebee. Bumblebee I like more than I thought I would, definitely a solid lil bugger and his car door locking mechanism to the arms in robot mode is impressive, I wish they made something like that for classics prime. Mirage is freaking awesome.....most poseable classic and very fun to fiddle with. Grimlock is bad ass through and through, I like the gun blade and I use his whip as a huge ass broadsword....think 2x4 made of cement+shape of a sword=blunt force annhialation. His articulation is great as well, just wish his arms could actually lock into place onto the torso.
  5. I agree. I have always thought that Kelly Carlson from Niptuck would have been a far better Invisible Woman. Coincidentally she is also a co star with the guy who played Dr. Doom. She is older than Alba(Alba is too young to play Invisible Woman, hell the guy who played Johnny looks the same age!) and looks more like the comic Invisible Woman than Alba. Plus there would not be a big age gap between her and Mr. Fantastic, the guy who played him look way older than Jessica Alba. Carlson also comes off more assertive, whereas with Jessica Alba her youth shows in her attitude/acting.
  6. Puzzles me why a lot of you think Yamato would be the one to make toys of this. I am thinking more along the lines of bandai doing it, I mean they did do Aquarion and Eureka 7 toys. The anime looks nice so far, and I am a sucker for anything with transforming fighters. Bring it on!
  7. Jetfire is an awesome figure. However I do not think it is a fair comparison for him to be compared to a 1/48, if you ask me, if the $100+ 1/48 was comparable to the $20 Jetfire, I'd be pretty damn pissed. Now a masterpiece jetfire I can see being comparable but since there is none yet, there can be no comparison. Its like comparing copper to gold, why bother? For what it does and what it features, Jetfire is an awesome buy well worth the $20.
  8. Actually I heard that the toy design was done first, and Don decided to base the stormbringer comic design off of the toy prototype.
  9. Well for me, I was tired of Jetfire ALWAYS being made into some transport aircraft in the more recent cartoons. In armada he was a shuttle, same with energon, in cybertron he was a cargo plane. I wanted him to be a fighter jet, some sort of aggressive aircraft, space or air, that WASN'T a shuttle. Either that or the g1 skyfire alt mode in the cartoon. Bear in mind I loved the g2 jetfire incarnation(the NATF based design). So the new alt mode as well as the dual toy jetfire g1 and cartoon skyfire homage sealed the deal for me. If he was a shuttle again it would not please me as much. So basically, I was starved for a fighter jetfire, I was tired of him being a cargo plane of some sort.
  10. Your best bet is xstoys. He has the proto sculpts for the new heads that were to be utilized on the bandai reissues, but for some reason bandai did not use them. For what its worth, I would say credit for making macross what it is today goes more towards takatoku rather than bandai, bandai pretty much "picked up the scraps". If takatoku never went bust, bandai would have never gotten their molds. The only new things bandai did were the DYRL valks and the HCMs(which I hope dearly that they make it into the HCMpro offshoot line which bandai is asking fans for feedback on amongst other mecha anime). (1/200 is TINY for them so perhaps they are aiming for 1/100 or even 1/72 like the old HCM?). With bandai they would have to come up with something that Yamato hasn't already made. So far Yamato has the bases covered for most of the valks that fans have wanted. Nonetheless, I hope for an SOC-esque valkyrie from bandai one day, just to see what they can pull off with modern engineering and such. I believe the stealth valk was the last one they reissued. And to be fair, toynami only STARTED giving us toys at a decent price with the 1/100. i don't think any of us thought their msrp for the MPC's was decent at all, as a matter of fact, the price on the MPC's alone was enough for nearly everyone to condemn them(which happened). Yamato's in japan are priced decently, though its been brought up on occasion that prices started increasing I believe a year or 2 ago(there was a big discussion about this a long while ago on the boards, I forgot who brought it up but it had something to do with markups and actual prices vs what we pay for or something like that).
  11. Holy crap Shin's combo set looks AWESOME!!
  12. I agree. If only it had the airbrushed touches that the one on shown on the box has! Ah well, still good nonetheless. Anyone else think this one resembles the gold skeletor from a couple years back?
  13. Nope. He is just a regular release from one of the last voyager waves. He is actually based off an early Gonzo CG render.
  14. I agree, in fact the transformer alternators that some of the fans here collect are a lot more fragile than the 1/48 VF-1. I'm glad to see that Yamato is continuing to keep durability in mind when designing the toys. I also think its a shame to just leave something like this on display and just stare at it.....it was meant to be picked up and admired!(A lot of people still do this with the 1/48....it makes me wonder....though...then again perhaps none of them have ever built model kits? could be the case! I stick to toys because models all break under my handling....and my yammies have stayed in 1 piece since I've bought them years ago...). I will probably pick one of these up during spring.
  15. Graham, You make the transformation look easy, so my question is, is it easier to transform than the 1/48 VF-1? It seemed like it in the video, maybe I am just used to the VF-1 transformation but the YF-19 seemed easier to transform and seemed to take less time to do so as well. I for one am glad that it seems very durable and pleasant to transform.
  16. I wonder how big the megabloks gundams are, BBTS is charging $100 for each of them. They look VERY cool, I have slim hope they will domesticate them in the US but still, if they did it would be cool!
  17. This is good to know though, it seems as if the YF-19 is not only Yamato's best looking product to date, but also the most durable(seems like it in the videos, I have yet to handle one myself so I cannot say for certain). I'd rather have a part come off than break, so I think I'd be happy with this toy. And it is such a huge improvement over the very first YF-19 from way back when Toycom was still trying to bring it over!(And to think back then, I didn't think ANYTHING could top that thing! Just goes to show how advanced and so much better things can get after a couple of years).
  18. From what I remember they are not, they are a tight fit so it may seem like they are not seperable but they are indeed individual pieces.
  19. I wouldn't mind a redesigned, yet more affordable 1/60 VF-1 w/perfect transformation and minimal diecast. Perhaps somethings could be simplified, like the regular missles being molded as 1 cluster of 3 rather than being molded individually and attached to a pylon.
  20. Hey guys how will the internet thing work? Would you need access to a cable modem? I heard it was wifi but I didn't know if you needed a wifi network within your own home or such. Is it free to go online with the wii?> And Radd please give us your first impressions! Wii seems awesome..anyone else here looking forward to the dbz game and marvel ultimate alliance?
  21. There was no F-14. Skull squadron leader here was Scorch I believe and flew a Viggen. I miss the toys and playsets, the balljointed stands were awesome!
  22. BUdaki Tenkaichi whatever the hell you call it for Wii looks AWESOME. So does Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
  23. Which one is Fast Gunner? And are all the Cybertron Defense team versions better than their original smaller incarnations?(regular backpack, deluxe hotshot/red alert)? They look beastly. Hmm. I want to get all of them, Wing Sabre, Cyro Scourge, Nemesis Breaker, Scrapmetal, Galvatron and Metroplex and Sky Shadow. I like the cybertron line a lot I still must find the delue trex megs too. Also the cartoon isn't that bad! I watch it before class sometimes.
  24. Cap the link you posted was of a custom a fan was working on. BTW Classics Jetfire is already out folks! There was a sighting in WV already and elsewhere.
  25. I have a feeling it will kick ass.
