  1. THe ones in target/TRU are the lesser grade versions. The ones online are the collector grade stuff. The differences being the diecast content and amount of paint apps/weathering.(Though the TRU versions of the warbirds are actually decent I hear). Anyways since the phantom is much bigger than the current biggest 1/18 toy(the hornet) I think its actually a good price at $140. Keep in mind it is 47" long.
  2. Put it this way, the biggest 1/18 birds are the hornet and the avenger. Both those retail for $70-100. The phantom is a lot bigger than both of them....not to mention its gonna come with more weapons than those 2 as well.
  3. Here is the preorder for badcat's exclusive SEA camo version. http://www.badcataviation.com/f4cphii1adba.html $140 Other products will be an A-1 Skyraider(announced earlier last week), a Dauntless, and an F-5. Previously they have released F-86E's, and ME-262's Congrats fellow afficianados, our Phantom is HERE!
  4. Will it be more capable than the MIG-29K/MIG-33 that India is getting? I heard that was more likened to a navalized MIG-29M
  5. Thats my main gripe with the mold too. That and lacking functional landing gear. For what its worth, its not as bad as movie starscream in both categories.
  6. This is what I wish for too. $40/leader pricepoint/sizeclass should solve all the problems...hell even give him realistic landing gear! I'd rather have that than an ultimate $80 bumblebee. F-16, A-10, F-117, and F-35 are in the film as well. Wonder if they will be made as toys.
  7. The voyager focuses on the robot mode, the FAB epitomies...actually I don't know what the hell that thing epitomizes, so I think the deluxe starscream may actually have the sleekest fighter mode as well as having a more movie accurate, ungimmickified robot mode. Voyager Starscream is also being repainted in blue and grey as thundercracker, which I think will look better than the desert sand color he currently has/.
  8. Does this have the big flaps of the MIG-33? Those look awesome.
  9. The parts molded in purple are a tad bright(not as bright as shown in online pics) and the parts that are painted purple are dark. He is more solid and tighter than starscream, and his face is actually PAINTED...which is a good thing. Starscream looks cheap against him, the face makes a world of difference!
  10. Graham, could future releases have POM in areas of tension? I think that might solve the majority of problems. I realize it is hard to paint, however, it seems that most of the parts that would benefit from POM construction are parts that are either internal, or only needed to be molded in one color. For example:shoulders, hips, folding mechanisms, parts with small tabs; small pieces in general. I suggest ratchets as well....my 1/48's shoulders loosened after a while, and ratchets in general loosen a lot slower than ball joints. In my experience the rubber eroding over time leads to looseness, another reason why I recommend ratchets.
  11. Exactly. Guys put it this way, energon ironhide was $20, do you think he was worth that much? Compared to other recent $20 transformers, Jetfire is worth it.
  12. Skyfire would have been cool as an F-14 replica, F-15 is Starscream's realm. I just wish Classics Starscream had good retractable landing gear. But in all honesty would you guys have wanted a true g1 accurate cartoon skyfire? His alt mode in the cartoon always came off as a box with wings. I think classics jetfire looks better but eh, I think its a 50/50 mix here on these boards. And on 1 hand, I can understand since we never did get a 100% cartoon accurate skyfire. Classics Jetfire sure as hell looks better than energon skyblast. An in defense of classics jetfire, armada jetfire didn't even have clear windows in his cockpit and couldn't even move his hips forward. I thought armada jetfire was okay, but I like Classics Jetfire much better.
  13. Honestly I don't think anyone here ever said Toynami rules. I can almost say that for sure. I am a fan of the wait and see approach and I am not alone on this. Judging by the recent YF-19 and VF-0 breakages, I am glad I am waiting. No matter how many people take this approach or how many people swear off the products, one thing is for certain; there will always be buyers whether 1st buyers or ones that wait. So we need not worry on how we affect sales. And that last sentence? Some of the fans here have been thinking thats what Yamato has been or should have been doing the whole time. Honestly I was surprised by the whole VF-0 breakage in the shoulders.
  14. they should make wave 3 all VF-1A's: Cannon Fodder*Variant=Angel Birds* Max Type TV VF-1A Kakizaki TV VF-1A
  15. The reason a lot of the fans are irritated is because Yamato has had 6 years to learn. They are a small company yes, but by no means an upstart. A lot of problems, and I mean a LOT, started dissapearing once the 1/48 was released, the main problem with that were some toys missing parts. I can see it both ways. Since legally Yamato cannot cater to us, they cannot offer us replacement parts like they did with their garland. Well that sucks. Buying anything macross from a japanese company is a gamble, and I don't think any fan, be it in japan, or out of japan likes buying a product prone to eventual breakage. Its mentioned earlier in this thread that most of yamato's recent releases are almost 99% ABS and that hard plastic to hard plastic contact can result in breakage, what I think should be done is rigorous play testing; studying the durability of parts both externally AND internally. And heck its simple to say no japanese fans complain/experience breakages when most of us have no way of verifying that or not(most of us in this forum do not speak nor read japanese so going on a japanese BBS is a lost cause for those who do not read/speak japanese.)*Not to mention there are very few members on this forum that do know japanese and actually go to those japanese bbs' and translate what they say*. And I 2nd the notion of ratchets, those things rarely loosen as much as ball joints. Not to mention would probably not lead to shoulder breakage like on the VF-0 toys.
  16. I intend to pick up one of these soon. The VF-1A has the best headsculpt. I think they are good for the price. And plus its a way more durable substitute to buying a 1/100 variable bandai/imai kit which would undoubtedly break in my hands(which all my models have, and an other reason why I mainly stick with toys).
  17. I think thats pretty sad. Classics Jetfire is one of my favorite transformers ever, but again its sad some people even compare him to a 1/48. Jetfire is a $20 toy, 1/48s are easily 6 times the price, if they were comparable, something would be wrong. I think those guys should judge it for its own merits, its like comparing a matchbox car to a real life BMW or luxury car.(In other words no comparison, you get what you pay for in this case). For the age group its aimed at, I think its great, but it does not come anywhere close to toppling the 1/48, and of course, it shouldn't, its not even in the same price range! (And to those tf fans I mean really, did they want jetfire being some cargo or transport plane AGAIN?, I got tired of that, I wanted a more aggressive version and Classics gave me that). I mean what did they think cybertron, armada and energon jetfire were better? Show me which jetfire aside g1 is better than classics.
  18. wrong, he ias a voyager($20), so roughly about 8 inches. So far the only other version listed for blackout is the kiddified FAB(Fast Action Battlers) Blackout for $10. Funny, I also found a listing for a deluxe Starscream, so far there is protoform, deluxe, voyager, FAB, and a voyager repaint as thundercracker listed. I am hoping the deluxe one is more accurate then the voyager....too much kibble underneath on that one not to mention that it is inaccurate in some areas.
  19. I reccomend making the problem area out of POM or diecast, this may solve the problem.
  20. Weren't they at one point called "The friendly helpers of Macrossworld to yamato" or something like that? I keep remembering them trying to make a fundraiser for yamato to thank them for making the 1/48 and Fudrom was one of those guys. This was in 2003-4. I hope the SV-51 has very generous use of POM as to ensure its indestructability.
  21. The first snake eyes toy had goggles flush to his mask but that wasn't exactly comic accurate, whereas the new one is. The main similarity I see with the 4th version is the grills or vents in the mask but those are actually accurate to the 1st comic appearance as well. The 4th version also had ninja arm guards and boots....this new version is completely commando absent of any ninjutsu attire(a common complaint in the joe community is the fact that snake eyes is too ninja-d out, they miss the commando version(ninjutsu did not play into his story line until Storm Shadow was introduced, up until then he was just a mute commando that had a knack of kicking ass out of nowhere).
  22. a seibertron.com poster has bought the movie starscream figure, they will be posting a gallery tonight. It looks okay from the top but underneath is whats really killing me......man thats a thick undercarriage! NOnetheless the preview pic they have has it shown next to energon starscream.....and I admit as inaccurate as it is, it does look better than energon starscream in fighter mode.
  23. Just to let you guys know the Ironhide that was seen earlier, the Jazz that just popped up, the small mutant looking starscream, and the small prime that popped up today(all with missle launchers) are all part of the smaller kiddified "fast action battlers" line. We have seen the $20 starscream(the one with the messed up vertical stabilizers) and the $10 Jazz way back. We have not seen the "bigger" Iron Hide and Prime yet.(though I have a feeling we will since I would not be surprised if they got leaked prior to toyfair next month).
  24. Can POM be molded in specific colors? Perhaps Yamato should cast the shoulders in dark grey POM, since its stronger than ABS, it could be better and handle the tension of the springs. Besides I'm not sure customizers would want to paint the shoulders anyways
