Over G Fighters
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Redouts and blackouts are implemented. Each plane differs in performance, avionics, armnament, HUDs and cockpit displays. Knight, here is a link to the IGN gallery. http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/761/761470/imgs_1.html Hopefully I can find a cable to link up my mac and 360 to give some good screengrabs. I want to post videos of my dogfights somehow too. I hope sales were good enough to fund a sequel, the Kfir and Phantom are in the game but you can only fight them, not fly them. Same with the YF-23. Also wldr, if you get a 360 rent this game first, see if you think its worth buying. The lack of ingame music is a bit dissapointing but you music does play in the intro, and in the strategic stages. Also in replay mode so far you can play 4 songs. Some fans say that the lack of music during flight is to add to the realism. Basically this is nothing like Ace Combat. Your planes only carry the max amount that the real planes can. Gun ammunition runs out EXTREMELY fast. Luckily the A-10 and OA-10 both have a gun select special function where you can choose between a higher or lower rate of fire. The MIG-29s and Flankers have the EOS. Carrier landing in the Tomcat was hard but always keep your speed above 180mph, any lower and you will stall and splash. I unlocked the TF-18A the other day and what was cool is that its got the Pax river red/white TPS colors. But guys if your into realistic fighter/attack simulators and have a 360, give it a shot. That and the actual graphics look a LOT better than I thought they would(thats what I get for watching it on youtube haha). Think of it as the grand turismo of flight simulators but punch up the realism and add weapons and unique displays. btw the F-15E's special function is carpet bombing mode. I have yet to unlock that and most of the other planes. I like the fact that this game has SEAD missions. SAMs are hard to dodge. And I get a kick out of arming my F-14A with 6 AIM-54C's. Those missles rule. Heh even the gun pipper symbology and aiming systems is different per plane. -
Hey guys I've been playing Over G Fighters for the 360 the past couple of days and I love it. This is not for everyone, if you are expecting an arcade game like Ace Combat, or Lethal Skies, don't even bother. Most of the people who bought this bought it for those reasons. Its unfairly compared to those. This is more along the lines of Aerodancing(Aerowings, Aerowings 2:Airstrike, Aero Elite Academy). Does this mean that this fares up with LOMAC on the PC? No. This is basically the most realistic sim you can get on a console. Its a step above the aerodancing series in that each plane has its own unique HUD and cockpit displays(for example the Tomcat's VDI looks different than the MFDs found on the Hornet, and the F-15C's displays are very different from both, and both the F-15C and E have completely different cockpits and displays). Multiple views can be chosen, and unlike Ace Combat or Aerowings, the radar and other necesities can be seen ON the displays they are meant to be displayed on. In Ace Combat, you'll notice that the view does not pan towards these displays and the radar is instead displayed onscreen as if on a HMS. You can do both in Over G. What I've noticed is that theres very few people playing this. Of course it is overshadowed by the instant thrill action of Ace Combat. The big boys got LOMAC for their PC's the ones who want to have quick fun have Ace Combat, and while I like both, I think Over G does great for what it has and is overlooked. With that said its hard to find forums that even have info on it. gamefaqs, acecombatskies.com, ign, all filled with people complaining about how bad it was and how its not like ace combat. Very few of them realize what its really supposed to be, and its never meant to be ace combat. It serves an entirely different purpose. So are any of you playing it? I think its great. The controls are very similar to Ace combats so they are not hard to transition to. Seeing the differences in each plane make me happy, as this is what I kept wishing for in Ace Combat but never really got. The replay system is one of the best I've seen so far. After searching the net I've finally found something with all the special functions for the main aircraft. http://faqs.ign.com/articles/717/717399p1.html Turns out the MIG-29G I just unlocked doesn't have the AOA cutter I though it had. Oh well.

Wow that grey iron armor from the live action looks pretty good!

Man these Garlands suck!
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Scream Man's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Take into account that Yamato is a much smaller company that focuses primarily on older collectors, whereas hasbro and takara cater also to kids and have exponentially larger production runs. Not to mention both companies are large by themselves, and Takara is also said to be buying out 2 rival companies in japan. Yamato is much smaller but for a small company, they do venture out to do mecha the bigger companies would probably overlook. With that said however, I too wish more time was spent on discovering possible defects and breakages. These things don't come cheap. -

You and meh cd are right on the money. And sure some can say HTS sales can't justify this thing going online but as I said earlier, there have been star wars and gijoe exclusives sold online only to not only hts but also bbts, and other popular etailers. This would again, generate more sales than the botcon sets due to the higher production numbers/availability not to mention cheaper price. Not to mention if kids go to the hasbro site and see some seekers there, they might be inclined to ask their parents to order them. I mean really the only people happy with the botcon set are those who are able to go and buy the thing, and that sure as hell is not the entire fandom, not even the majority. -
Engage Planet KISSDUM. Coming 2007
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
And really the only thing carrying over from Kissdum to Macross:Flyer are the techniques Satelight learned from making Kissdum. Its like Azrael stated above, this isn't Kawamori's show, just his mecha design. From what you guys say, the flaws are not so much in the animation itself, but the direction. If the animation is good, Macross:Flyer should be about the same level if not better. -

Good question. Those did cost more and were also exclusives to TRU. Classics seekers would have been 1/3rd of the price each not to mention mass market. -

They can but we won't know for sure until botcon. Until then, everything else is either an assumption or fanboy hypothesis. -

Transmetal 1 Cheetor was repainted more than that. There is an armada version and possibly others. No, the BAT pack I was talking about is from years before the DTC BAT pack. The one I was talking about came in a plain white box and was an online exclusive, bbts and other estores had it for a while. It had translucent v2 BATS from ARAH. And with rangers usually the red ranger and then the special out of nowhere silver green or white ranger comes out of nowhere towards the middle with some conflict and ends up being a main character. The others are just side characters. People and kids buy them for the sake of completing a team, for example the blue ranger can't exactly be called a main character nor can the yellow ranger. Same reason we want the rest of the seekers. -

EXACTLY! And they are all the same character, and some versions costed more! And seriously only a few of the titaniums even appeal to collectors, its definitely a hit or miss line and the materials and supposed lower numbers in production make it cost more. Classics is more appealing to me and most tf fans. I'd rather see someone like Sunstorm be a repaint as a botcon exclusive, not Thundercracker. And Sunstorm's colors are much closer to classics starscream than thundercracker ever would have been. Our best hope is that takara makes classics for japan using the botcon seekers as well. Fact is there could have been other classics characters to make using other toys. The energon aerialbot limbs, the A-10 molds could have been painted as Powerglide. The helicopter mold from the constructicon team could have been repainted and retooled into Whirl. Vector Prime with a new head and paint could have easily been Vector Sigma and still fit in quite well with classics and the g1 mythos. Bulkhead from energon could have been repainted into Springer, hell him or EVAC could work as Springer. Swoop could have been Swoop from the energon set but repainted in g1 colors(not to mention the only reason a lot of people bought that set was for swoop). List can go on and on. -
bandai=1/55 The 1/48 wouldn't be out till later that year

Nonetheless I remain dissapointed that I, and most of us will not be able to get those seekers. Sure titanium might be aimed towards collectors but I'm of the opinion most of us(whom are collectors) bought more classics than titanium. I don't know about the rest but in my area classics sells faster, and titaniums shelfwarm at walmart. I can't tell you how many optimal optimus's and scourges I have seen. Point is, IF hasbro sold the rest of the the 3 seekers at retail, they would have higher production runs than the botcon exclusives, and thus they would be able to make more money back. Remember there are only going to be a limited number of the botcon sets. Sure maybe some retailers would not have bitten who knows. At the end of the day I don't think most of us can say we are happy and have a smile on our face. Of course it all boils down to business but I'm not going to lie and say I love what just happened. I am not willing to spend 2-300$ for 3 toys that I could, yes COULD have bought at retail for $30 + tax. And the bug dude and jetfire remold? I could live without them. Hasbro did internet exclusives before and still does to this day. The Kir Kanos star wars pack, the gijoe bat box 6 pack and such. Not exclusive to HTS but exclusive to online stores. And we won't know till botcon if any retailers requested or were offered exclusives. Sure the seekers are the same toys but they are all different characters. Someone explain to me why power ranger figures of the same costumes but different color continue to sell at retail without sales of one or the other affecting each other. And someone tell me how this is able to happen every year. Perhaps its the same premise, same toy, similar deco but different paints, but different character. There is hope. If takara ever gets classics, perhaps they can use the botcon molds to make the rest of the seeker team. Not to mention a g1color megatron. If they are willing to reintroduce beast wars I am sure they are up for classics. And yea a lot of us in the US were mad when we found out that nemesis prime was readily available overseas while we got shafted here. -
Thanks for the suggestion! I KNEW the name sounded familiar, those are the guys I usually see at nekocon with good deals!(bought a bandai VF-1A hikaru from them 5 years ago for $45)

Hey guys is Soze's fix the best so far? Just wondering, I too am tempted to pick up the YF-19 later this year.
-
Nope. Thats just one thing. The F-20 knight scheme, which is similar to Shin's from Act III. The whole mercenary thing. The fact that your fighting for a country that might get overran later on. The whole ace style guage. A friend turning on you. Your force supporting a much larger main force, but you still getting the dirty work. The tunnel missions. Actually I think a the whole ace combat series has area 88 inspiration, the whole tunnel and mountain things seem so inspired by the mission in act III where Shin has to lead the team through a mountain pass and afterwards escort the strike formation as they are jumped by harriers.

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
So is there any set date for when the 1st episode of this is supposed to appear? I've looked but have not seen anything, all I know is that is is after Kissdum. I think it might be cool to see a time far into the future, maybe 2060 or so, so its later than Macross 7 and we get to see what Kawamori cooks up...his most advanced VFs are the VF-19 and VF-22...so fast forward 20 years later and what the valks could end up looking like could be very interesting.. -

Best song to me was "fire youngman" from AC2, which is also my fave AC and had the best soundtrack. There are very few hardcore flightsims on consoles, the best being Aerodancing(DC aerowings, PS2 Aero Elite Academy) and Energy Airstrike(first 2 on ps2, OVERG on 360). OverG seems to have the flight dynamics and realism of aerodancing but with unique HUDs/cockpits and working cockpit displays, something both aerodancing and ace combat lack. gamesradar.com has a weeklong feature on ac6. Today was interview day. Yesterday was new screenshots, and tomorrow is a review of what the ace combat design team thought worked and didn't work in past ace combats. And Ace Combat zero seemed very "Area 88" like. Watch the original OVA or read the old manga then play through it, you'll start seeing some inspirational similarities

Transformers the Movie
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to GobotFool's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Make sure Michael Bay doesn't touch it, and that BIG West is in entire control of it, and out of the grasp of HG haha. They say that Starscream moves like a bird, so he has hind legs and perches on things, which he did on the trailer. Even though the toy slowly slowly grew on me, I still think the design looks weird. Out of all the movie designs Ironhide impresses me the most. I like the mouthguard and his backstory. He just looks meant to kill and brawl till the death. Now thats cool. Maybe not surprisingly, I like the toy designs a lot better than their CGI counterparts.
