Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I am currently reading the Sinestro Corps arc in the Green Lantern books. I like it. The guardians remind me a lot of the jedi council from star wars, divided in their decisions, and sometimes holding back to do the "right" thing, when holding back really aids in letting the problem prolong. Other books I am reading are Storm Shadow(written by Larry Hama!), Satsuma Gishiden(still on book 1, the inkwork is AMAZING, I highly recommend this manga, the story is great too), Wolverine, Batman(I am currently reading the Morrison/Kubert issues), Moon Knight, Gi Joe:America's Elite(the WW3 arc is a great starting point, the writer is very good as is the art), and I picked up Furman and Su's Transformers:Infiltration. Storm Shadow has great writing, if you guys read the old marvel joe comics, there is a lot of throwbacks to you guys in the new book. I really wish Steffano Casselli was doing the artwork in the book however. Mark Robinson's sequences can be visually hard to follow at times, he does break the 180 rule, and while some say he is going for a sketchy look, it could be done in a much more refined way. The colors are sloppy too. I'm not sure what it is with some of these recent colorists, but some of them color sloppily if the pencils/inks are sketchy. Sloppy enough to see obvious mistakes made with blatant disregard to what they were coloring. Its very irritating. Sean Murphy would have been preferrable(the cover artist), Mike Zeck, or even Larry Hama himself, who is underrated when it comes to drawing. The hip Bruce Lee look does not work well for Storm Shadow. Of the recent artists who have drawn Storm Shadow in comics, Steffano Casselli is the best. Its too bad Marvel had him working on the "Initiative" comic, where it seems like the editors are making him hold back. The Storm Shadow book would have been a ton better if he had been on it. The best aspect of the Storm Shadow book is that Larry Hama is writing it, and any of you that bought it most likely bought it solely because he was writing it. I did finish up Uncanny X-Men:The Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire, and it was great. Its Havok leading a team composed of his X-men and the Starjammers, against D'Ken and Vulcan, who is the 3rd Summers brother. Very good read. I picked up part 1 of "One More Day" in the Spiderman books. Basically, Aunt May is dying after a hit from the Kingpin where she gets hit instead of Peter. She basically has, one more day. Prior to this, Peter snuck into a prison and beat down the Kingpin in front of all the criminals and held back from killing him. Its rumored that Aunt May will die, and that Pete and MJ will divorce. Joe Quesada thinks that Peter was better off young and not tied down by marriage, basically the way Spiderman was for years. To me, I prefer not ruining the status quo, as we already have Ultimate Spiderman, and wasn't the point of the Ultimate universe to appeal to a broader crowd and not bog them down with years of continuity? Why ruin years of progress to send a character backwards? To me, Spiderman dealt with a lot more when he married MJ because he had to deal with securing his family and so much more threats, its more exciting that way to see how he handles it. It shows his depth and growth of his character, as he becomes more responsible. By the way the rumors are going, maybe he will have less to be responsible for as this story goes on. Jim Starlin is going to write an 8 part mini series titled "The Death of the New Gods". I hope it does justice to the characters Jack Kirby creates. I hope Orion does not die, and I hope to see a huge intergalactic brawl with him and Darkseid. Orion rules.- 557 replies

I think you'll like the cobra pack more than the joe pack. The cobra pack didn't need as much modifications. Just be warned that Destro cannot carry his briefcase in his left hand. -

Dropkick is probably the best Decepticon drone. I have a hard time deciding if he is better than Dreadwing and Wreckage. He is definitely better than Swindle. Swindle grew on me over time, but he is still one of the least impressive deluxe figures. Guys, what do you think of Titanium Magnus? I was debating picking him and Rodimus up. However knowing that they were designed by the star wars tf/galoob team rather than the main tf team, I have yet to pick up any titaniums. The shoulders on Magnus, as well as the pushed forward look of Rodimus were the main drawbacks for me. -
The guy who mentioned joe as one guy played with joe during the 60's, I think that guy is actually unaware of RAH. Sure they put pics of Scarlett and Duke there, but how hard is it to find pictures of those two? They are very popular, a google search of gijoe turns those two up. It would not surprise me if they did not know who they were and just put them in there because they knew they were gijoes.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

I doubt much Macross influence will be in the movie. I also wonder if this movie will make it off the ground. -
The PC joe was from the Skip Woods script. The script is being entirely rewritten by Stuart Beattle, the joes won't be based out of Belgium, and Gijoe will probably not stand for whatever the hell they were going to call it. Fox news didn't get it right, and even their military analyst said gijoe is one guy, not realizing the movie will revolve around the characters from RAH, which was way more than one guy. More like a ton of guys and some girls.

While I think Figueroa is the best illustrator on the TF books right now, I think Su is the best sequential artist. I'd love to see a transforming Optimus Prime based on the battle he drew with Prime vs. Megatron. -

He does, they are just limited in range of motion. He has elbow joints in the lower arm, and on the upper arm, the lower arm ones are not visible from the front. You can tilt the shoulders outwards, and then bend the upper elbow joints, so the articulation does not look as weird. People compare him to Armada Thrust, but this Dreadwing is superior to him(I have both, Dreadwing's mold is much more refined). -

He does not seem blue on the cover of "Silent Interlude", but he is definitely blue in the interiors. There is a Snake Eyes in black coming out in the Blade Destro wave. Some think he will be v2 Snake Eyes(single pack) in black, however I hope he is based on the v3 1989 version. However, he could either be a black clad v2, or black clad v1. I really hope he is the v3 version, not the greatest, but great and most overlooked. It was also pointed out last night that comic pack Hawk is based on the original toy colors, not the comic. -

Not around here. Some are left on shelf, sure some are bought but they don't fly off shelves here. The deluxes fly off shelves, as with the leaders. The voyagers are becoming easier to find now. With Ironhide, initiate his automorph by folding down his feet, do NOT fold down the heel first as it will break the mechanism. His doors do not lock into place in robot mode, the float due to the springs, but there is a way to configure them to secure them. Ironhide will be easier to find for you soon, as he is becoming a shelfwarmer since everyone is buying the $20 Optimus Prime and leaving everyone else on shelves. Voyager Megatron is a shelfwarmer too. I also recommend voyager Prime, voyager Megatron, protoform Prime(possibly the most overlooked figure in the line next to Ratchet), Ratchet, Starscream(deceptive, as he is huge in robot mode, a lot bigger than what you might expect), 77 Bumblebee, Wreckage(most overlooked non movie character), Dreadwing(a lot better than people think), and Dropkick(one of the best drones). I got Final Battle Jazz mainly for his movie accurate gun, but he is not one of the better deluxes. I also have Swindle but don't recommend him. He grows on you over a long time, but there are much better figures to buy. I felt the exact same way because of his neon green but found him to be one of my favorites as well upon opening. I wish his automorph was more complex, and that he retained the automorph arm cannon that was on the prototype. His range of motion is great, but I think voyager Prime has him beat for articulation. He is huge in robot mode and that aids in his stability. -

I'm not sure, but I would say between now and november. Mid september they might start becoming easier to find. November is when the case is due, but as we all know, everything has been hitting earlier. Also guys, kids go back to school next month, so transformers might be easier to find. I expect saturation by october but by november, the usual xmas rush. -

Bandai VF-17S? Holy cow man, that thing looks outdated compared to the recent Yamato releases!
-
I still call these toys. Why? They are nothing like Hasegawas durability wise. Model kits are meant to be displayed and not designed with durability in mind. Yamato's valkyries are different. These can be played with, just not abused. You shouldn't hand these to a 4 year old and expect to retrieve it one piece. This is a debate that has been echoed for years on this board. You shouldn't leave these on the bottom of your toy stash in a brown box. Everyone keeps talking about how fragile Yamato valkyries are and how they are afraid to touch them. Sure with the VF-0 shoulders, first VF-11B hips, and maybe, maybe the YF-19 gullet hinge I can understand(but Graham and soze already pointed out how to avoid breaking it), but truth is, in general these are much more durable than anyone thinks. More durable than Transformers Alternators. For example, my Yamato 1/48 VF-1S is in one piece after 3 years. Never broken. Still in great shape. All of my model kits have broken in one way or another. So I'm calling this a toy. A highly detailed collector's toy, but a toy nonetheless. Like I said, made for adults, not some kid who is going to bash them together like a 70's Shogun warrior in a sandbox. These are more durable than Dragon's warbird models, which are made of diecast meta(and truth be told diecast does not equal durable). This is a great looking toy, the poses look excellent Swoosh, thanks for posting the pics. If Yamato can tackle this, it gives me hope that they can surely pull off a VF-0D, which is much more simple in comparison(new parts and retooled mold vs all new mold like the SV-51). I love the fact that the display stand comes with the toy and can be utilized in different ways.

Thats the corporate buyers for you. In a few months I think the last figures you mentioned will become shelfwarmers, so no worries there. -
Guys will Organic distribute these in the US, or do we have to get them via import by specialty stores like for Prime/Megatron? If thats the case, I'll pick mine up at a con.
