  1. I don't think Ozma will eventually bite the bullet. I get the feeling the fleet only dispatches skull team when some emergency happens. SMS sounds like a special squadron, like the VF-22S squadrons in Macross 7. The VF-171 pilots faced an unknown enemy, I think they handled them the best they could. It didn't seem like they were screaming "hey shoot me!". Hell even Ozma's wingman shared their fate.
  2. They are trying to space the action sequences out, not compress them all at once. You are comparing an OVA to a full fledged tv series man, thats not exactly a fair comparison.
  3. Hey I just realized it. Perhaps the official announcement in the magazines and various other paraphanelia of the new 1/60 and other Macross items was to coincide today with the TV special and deculture Macross F episode? This has been the best news all weekend. Can't wait to see more. I think next months magazines, or the month afterward will show a detailed photo gallery of the new 1/60's transformation.
  4. I'm sure as hell not! I see a bright future with the new VF-1 toy.
  5. I doubt they will be man, I expect them to be far more simple than the 1/48 FAST packs, and without as many removable missles. Maybe just limited to removable armor covers, but no exposed micromissles and compartments. Fine by me honestly. If they are made removable, they will be a nightmare to keep track of. Its actually confirmed that the VF-0S with Ghost pack has the fixes. I understand how you feel though. I find it impressive that this toy not only is more articulated than the 1/48, but also has a more sleeker underside/profile in fighter mode than the 1/48. Thats improvement. This might be the first Yamato VF-1 that can successfully replicate Hikaru's VF-1J pose at the end of the SDF Macross opening, not to mention the first transformable VF-1 toy that can do so. Thus far only the Revoltech can pull that pose off, and maybe some of the Hasegawa battroid kits. What I want is something with detail/accuracy/aesthetic similar to the 1/48, but with sturdiness similar, if not close to the chunky monkey takatoku/bandai 1/55. If its close, I'll settle for it. Sure as hell glad I won't have to pay over $100 for armor, thats for sure! Heres to hoping the parts that need a lot of strength, like the ball joints and hinges for transformation, are made from POM, diecast, or something seemingly indestructible from the get go.
  6. I was very surprised at the high quality of the animation for a TV series. I am very impressed. . Satelite improved a lot since Macross Zero, and even Aquarion. I wonder where the wings of the VF-25 go when they have the huge armor set on(the one on Ozma's). There seemed to be 4 wings on the armor itself. The VF-25 looks very graceful in flight. What a beaut. I'm interested in seeing how the story turns out. Theres tension from the start. The VF-171 looks excellent too.
  7. My poll concerning whether or not we wanted a perfect variable 1/60 VF-1 from a while back proves otherwise. Also, no we are aren't important at all to Yamato, who are you kidding? They can't legally market anything Macross related towards us. The japanese consumer matters to them. The japanese hobbyist/collectors market matters to them. I wish they could market to us, we would be able to get everything cheaper and replacement parts/service domestically, but for years it still has not happened. They make their profit from the japanese market, the one they legally can market and sell to. The trend in japanese toys and in the collectors market has been to go smaller. I am surprised Yamato went with a PV 1/60 VF-1, but its not out of the ordinary considering the market there now. No, they do not read every which topic of this forum, why bother? They read the japanese forums. Sure Graham can tell them what all of us are talking about here, and maybe they do glance at what we say every now and then, but ultimately at the end, they can survive without us. Technically they have since the outset.
  8. Actually no removable nosecone with exposed radar, or moving wing flaps. The 1/48 will probably not have as much releases in coming years, but I would expect occasional reissues of fan favorites, and new paint jobs with high sales potential for fan favorite VF-1s yet to be released. Also, the new 1/60 is actually more articulated than the 1/48.
  9. Of all the toys released thus far, the upcoming 1/60 VF-1 might have the best overall balanced look since the Takatoku/Bandai 1/55 VF-1. Thats a good thing. Whereas the original 1/60 VF-1 and the 1/48 both compromised aesthetic in other modes for emphasis on fighter mode, the takatoku 1/55 was balanced in all modes. I've noticed that either the legs on the new 1/60 are slimmer, or just appear that way due to the beefier arms. Either way, I am impressed. It was obvious that Yamato's dedication to accuracy outdid Takatoku/Bandai, but the balanced aesthetic wasn't addressed; until now. I hope this is the most sturdy VF-1 we will get to have our hands on next year. With less moving parts and a smaller size, this might be possible. The original 1/60 was very sturdy, as well as the 1/48. I hope this continues in the same tradition, and ends up sturdier than both. Theres no doubt in my mind that the 1/48 will still be admired by those who own it. Its got the most moving parts, high detail, and many accessories that have a high amount of detail(FAST packs/GPS). Its the premium VF-1. With the new 1/60 you can have more to play with without breaking the bank. You have something in scale with other Yamato releases. You have a valkyrie toy similar in size to the 1/55, yet looking just as balanced, and far more accurate. I hope its very, very sturdy(if its anything like the original 1/60 only without diecast, then this will be a very sturdy bird, the ball jointed shoulders on the original 1/60 were less prone to looseness than the 1/48, but was far worse on the hip joints). Judging by the CAD shown, the new 1/60 is FAST pack ready. There are slots on both the backpack, and legs where the armor would plug into. Also the arms already have the pegs for the armor to hook onto. The intake covers look to be either removable or foldable. The picture is small, but it looks like there might not be a worrysome bump/BP8 situation to worry about on the backpack. I preferred the original 1/60 VF-1's method of folding the backpack, and would love to see it return here.
  10. I agree with everything you said. I am waiting for the VF-1J Hikaru, as the only version I have of that is the MPC. I've got 3 VF-1S toys by different companies, but I am tempted to buy Focker's. If the price is close to the original 1/60 VF-1's then I might buy Focker's if he is indeed the first release. I have a soft spot for Hikaru's DYRL VF-1A as well(DYRL made the VF-1A look AWESOME).
  11. The translation makes it sound like "you should be concerned if the price is close to about $100". Least thats what I got from it. As for nose transformation, I thought it was in reference to the 2 pegs in the FLIR sensors on the nose. On the 1/48 they are seperate pieces that each fold in to make room for the hip bar. On the VF-0, its just one piece that folds into the nose.
  12. I hope they release Focker in grey, like they did with the DYRL VF-1A 1/60 Max years back. Also eagerly await the VF-1J Hikaru and VF-1D. HELL YES. Also a red VF-101 Grim Reaper based VF-1 like Kid Korrupt made back in the day.
  13. The VF-0 and SV-51 in 1/60 are a lot bigger than the 1/60 VF-1. Your comparing a branch to a twig. $155-170 is market suicide. Not even the 1/48 costs that much. Not to mention if another company has a Macross toy license for perfect variable toys in japan. Prices have to be competitive, otherwise, one manufacturer will lose sales from the outset. Engineering isn't so complex if its something based on what they've done before, only made easier, and simplified.
  14. I think its possible it will be under $100. The first 1/60 VF-1, with a crapload of diecast, was under $100. It was between 60-70$. An internal heatshield is possible, fulcy devised one years back. Variable with parts swapping. All modes a hell of a lot more accurate than the 1/65 toy but don't expect it to handle like one, it is fragile, as mine has broken in many places(thats what I get for being a middle schooler excited for a bad ass red YF-19 derivative only to find out its not supposed to be handled like a toy).
  15. In my opinion Kickback doesn't do any ass kissing, and I've been part of the tfw boards for a couple years now. He'll chime into threads defending Hasbro sure, but he does tell the truth, he doesn't have any defensive fanboy rants, he comes in and paints the picture that no one else seems to comprehend.
  16. According to a poll I made long ago, most of us still wanted a perfect variable 1/60 VF-1.
  17. I bet this will make David happy, since its in a scale Yamato has made most of their releases in. Graham, am I right in thinking this is under $100? I see no reason why it shouldn't be. Something tells me another Japanese company was going to put out some form of the VF-1 in toy form next year, and Yamato beat them to the punch with this awesome toy. With double jointed elbows, this might actually beat the Revoltech with regards to poseability, and yet still remain perfect variable. I was dissapointed to not hear back from the etailer I sent inquiries to with regards to some bandai reissues for xmas. Forget it, news of this is an early xmas present for me! When can we expect these Graham? I hope before april(I AM GOING TO HAVE ONE AWESOME BIRTHDAY!!!). BTW guys I think thats a TV Roy in the cockpit. If yamato can redo the entire VF-1 in 1/60, they can do a TV Qrau in 1/60 too. Graham, will Yamato finally make a VF-1A TV Max type in this scale? I think with release of this toy, we finally have the HCM-killer(something perfect variable in similar size to HCM VF-1 yet totally defeats it in every way). I just hope it is very, very sturdy. Swappable hands like on the old 1/60 VF-1 would be GREAT for this release.
  18. I can do without moving flaps and removable nosecone/engine covers on this release. Even without those, it will be better than the first 1/60 VF-1 series provided this truly is perfect variable. Posing and manipulating the first 1/60 VF-1 became a pain in the ass, with the hips loosening up over time and losing their stability to the point of them being wobbly. With the advances and improvements Yamato showed with the 1/48, I'm sure this time around they will do the 1/60 VF-1 right.
  19. ALL OF YOU are forgetting the most important part After years, we might possibly get a perfect transformation valkyrie for under $100! I'm being optimistic here, crossing my fingers that this is a perfect variable. Makes me not regret missing out on a bandai hikaru 1j if this is truly under 100, and perfect variable. Look at that awesome head sculpt and those nonchicken finger hands. Shin like
  20. I think Roy was looking forward to returning home to Claudia for some TLC and didn't realize his wound was that bad.
  21. Hehe thanks for the comments guys. A report from cooltoyreview.com states the following: Take it with a grain of salt. A lot of things may change, and a short time after cooltoyreview put out that report, Hasbro made a statement saying nothing is concrete until they themselves say something. The best bet for something definitive is toyfair. They will announce their stance on vehicles there. Considering that the cooltoyreview report is said to be general retail info, the target exclusive SHARC, Awe striker, and Hiss may not be included in the 10 vehicles rumored. So if anything that leaves us with 13 vehicles in total. Cooltoyreview.com has a good archive of the figures released to date. Generalsjoes.com and joebattlelines.com both have great reviews as well as pictures of the anniversary figures.
  22. Ultra Magnus is the autobot leader in Animated, Sentinel Prime reports to him, and Optimus Prime reports to Sentinel Prime, and is a rookie that leads his own team of autobots, the only veteran being Ratchet. The Classics repaints shown do not impress me that much, they are more subtle which is good, but I have those 3 figures and don't feel the need to buy the repaints. They aren't that much of an improvement. I did miss out on Astrotrain and Megatron, so if both are more g1 based in their paint schemes then I will preorder them. I've handled both, I like them a lot, but passed initially due to their paint schemes. I'm not a g1-hate-everything-else fanboy, but in this case, the g1 schemes for both characters was superior to what we got in Classics. Heres to hoping the japanese versions of both are in g1 colors.
  23. Yes but the issue was resolved years ago and since then quite a number of Roadblock figures have been made.
  24. From what I've seen the black commando Snake Eyes does have the trigger hands(at least the right one). The wave 4 singles are out but I haven't seen them or wave 5 in person. Also, hatless Lady Jaye will be released next year, Major Bludd and Wild Bill are confirmed by Hasbro, classic Serpentor is coming next fall, and Quick Kick is a go. The line is becoming more collector orientated, so if you guys want something in particular, your best bet is to voice your opinions now.
