Transformer Super Thread 6
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I've watched the first few minutes of it. I love how there is no animation stuttering between frames like in the armada trilogy. Thank goodness that is out of the way. I like it so far. The Decepticons all seem to hate each other, Prowl is a dick(just like he is in the IDW comics, btw I hate Prowl), Bumblebee is a bit annoying, Bulkhead is okay, and I like Prime and Ratchet. I like all of the decepticons. Blitzwing changing personalities on a whim was funny and out of nowhere. Starscream was definitely the best. Lugnut looks awesome. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

But it costs less than the 1/48, is more articulated, more sleeker in fighter mode, and possibly more accurate in battroid mode! -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Considering that Kawamori's approval is needed before production of this toy, and how its already going to be produced, it looks good enough. The old 1/72 is considered by some as monstrosity compared to this one. Least visible area? No. Thats just one area, you are forgetting that the sleek underside contributes to a sleek fighter mode, which everyone wants. For a child's toy the lack of a sleek underside is perfectly acceptable. For a $200 collectors item that blows away the one from 6 years ago, people expect more, a lot more. Hell the legs look skinny in the anime anyways. EVERYONE complained about the chunky jet more the original 1/72 had. -
Curently Watching SDF Macross TV Series
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to misterryno's topic in Movies and TV Series
In some episodes, I believe a studio called Anime Friend did the animation, and was downright terrible. Its been noted several times. You can definitely tell who was doing the animation, whether it being Itano himself, the team that did the good animation, and certainly when there was a bad studio doing the inbetweens. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I get the feeling Graham meant the VT-1 and VE-1 in addition to the D. The main problem would be how to accomodate the cockpits with the chest plate, however, as long as the chestplate problem is addressed, I doubt we have to worry. The D's cockpit section may be the same length as the VT/VE, and if thats the case, those 2 just need a higher chest plate in fighter mode. I have a feeling Yamato's already got this covered. -

US safety laws. I don't think its ever been stated specifically which line he would fall under, just that there would be an Ultra Magnus that wouldn't be a repaint of Prime. I am skeptical of wikipedia. -
Easy chance to make money. They always reissue various model kits every few years. For example, while the chunky monkeys were only reissued in 2001+, and in 1990, the 1/100, 1/72 and other old bandai or imai kits were reissued every few years, and a lot more than the chunky monkeys. Also remember, unlike Yamato, Bandai is a model kit company and a toy company. I'm starting to notice the same thing. Macross toys from more than one company is a good thing for all of us.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Both the original 1/60 and 1/48 were sturdy and very durable, so I hope the new one is the same. There really isn't no reason for it not to be. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes they can. The arms don't hang down as much in fighter mode, providing a more sleeker, less obstrusive underside than the 1/48. Articulation is better than the 1/48. Arms and hands are not skinny like the 1/48. The legs match the TV animation more than the 1/48. -
That is one sweet valkyrie, thank you for taking pictures. I am actually tempted to buy it now, the paint job is impressive.
-
No way in hell man, if that were the case, no one would buy them. Thats market suicide for Yamato. I think its under $100, but the majority of members here think its either $100 or less. There are less moving control surfaces, and plus a smaller size, so less parts to tool, and probably simpler, so it will cost considerably less than $100.

Ganda! Is that Mylene in Fire valkyrie armor?

The bandai reissue plamo that were pictured above the 1/60. Though honestly I don't think thats the full extent of what Bandai will do, they periodically reissue those kits every few years. I think its just the beginning honestly. Why not? They are cheaper to produce, tooling is already made, nothing new has to be added, and are ready to go. Cheap and efficient way to get a start on things. If they do indeed make toys next year for Macross F, they will have kits to satisfy the market now and model builders, and toys for us to play with next year, thereby satisfying both the toy and model collectors, which equates to more money for them.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Honestly, the only thing going for the old 1/60 VF-1 is nostalgia, and if diecast if you're a fan of it(though it was detrimental to that design). The way the missles attach, the articulation, the accuracy, perfect transformation, and a more sleeker underside in fighter mode compared to the 1/48 make it better than the 1/60, and close to topping the 1/48 with the exception of the moving control surfaces. This is the best inbetween we have seen thus far. -

Its coming back in fall. -
I agree, and I'd love to see the VF-19A. Not sure if its specifically been stated if Yamato hasn't renewed or lost the VFX2 license. I'd love a VF-22. The VF-25 and VF-171 would be awesome in Yamato's 1/60 line. I think its only a matter of time. I will be occupied buying the 1/60 VF-1 and the VF-11B if it is indeed coming out. I love those 2 designs. As for Supernova, its been said that Yamato cannot make the ones depicted in model magazines, since they are custom kits made by fans. If anything we can expect derivatives of the dayglo orange/grey F-15 prototypes, which the Supernova schemes are based on. There is hope for those, as there are similar schemes which might look awesome. I'd love to see schemes based on the high viz F-20 Tigershark prototypes, which Kazama Shin's F-20 is reminscent of in Area 88. If anything I think Yamato will get the chance to make 1/60 Macross F toys, just not right away. Hey if we are willing to wait 12 years for a 1/60 series of Macross Plus toys, we can wait a while for 1/60 Macross F toys.

Cybertron Prime surprised the hell out of me. I had no idea he would have good heft, and be remarkably solid and stable. I dig the Mazinger homage in super mode. I also like using the open mouth mode when in regular robot mode, so it gives me something different to see when I put him in his super mode(where I use the battle mask). Articulation is excellent too. The futuristic g1 motif is awesome on it, it just works better on him than on other g1 influenced Prime renditions(sans MP). I like him better than Fire Convoy(also one of my favs). -
release date for VF-0S with Ghost combo?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to sidearmsalpha's topic in Toys
I think he meant 1S as in Roy's, or maybe he meant Skull 1, either one, same colors. -
Considering that we just got the SV-51 now, 4 years after Macross Zero, and the new YF-21 next year, 11 years after Macross Plus, it wouldn't surprise me if Yamato eventually makes a 1/60 series of Macross F toys. I think we won't have to wait as long compared to the valkyries I mentioned. Who knows, things may change within the next year. I'd expect an announcement at either the trade shows or wonderfest.

Collectors items. Same here. To this day Laser Rod Prime remains one of my favorite Optimus Primes. First it was the same character as G1 Prime but upgraded. Second, he was fully articulated. You forgot Storm Shadow, and Snake Eyes Thats where you see the difference between mass market toys, and collectors items aimed at adults produced in much smaller quantities. There are some recent toys like the first run VF-0S and the VF-0A's which have the arm breakages, but aside that, the fragility of yamato valkyries is almost always highly exaggerated. It doesn't help that there are so many paranoid collectors who think their 1/48 VF-1 is like a model kit and only meant for display, and have heart attack moments when transforming it. The truth is, it is more durable than nearly all of the transformer alternators, yet easier to transform. That is one awesome toy. I like his background. Cybertron had some great figures, including Optimus Prime, who is one of my favorite mainline Primes. I honestly think Cybertron Prime is too overlooked. He has many nonobstrusive gimmicks, is huge in regular robot mode, and has a very stable super mode(especially compared to RID Omega Prime, who I've always thought was one of the most overrated combinations). -
Wait I feel the exact same way, except thinking the old 1/60 was hideous. Whenever I pick up the old 1/60, I keep thinking it would have been awesome with less diecast, perfect transformation, and a better sculpt. So happy now that we are getting what I wished for. The 1/48 will still be the biggest VF-1 with the most working features and most intricately detailed FAST pack kits and armor accessories. I don't see it being irrelevant anytime soon.

Yes they have. Until the Yamato 1//60 VF-1, the 1/72 Bandai HCM VF-1 was the most accurate valkyrie toy on the market. It was the only VF-1 to have working tailhooks until the MPC, and is still the only VF-1 toy able to sweep its wings back in battroid mode and still hold the missles. The reason we don't see much of it, is because there are a lot more collectors that have the 1/55, and not the 1/72 HCM. It was rumored that the molds were also destroyed. This is actually what some of us think happened, but there hasn't been direct confirmation yet. Actually that wouldn't matter, they may still be able to, or have the license for 1/60 Macross F toys. Notice that there are at least 3 companies making Mospeada ride armors. If Yamato has a Macross F license, we can expect a perfect variable VF-25 and VF-171 in 1/60. We can expect nontransformable action figures in the GNU line. For Bandai, we can expect HCMpro, Super HCM, Soulspec, or a DX line much like the Aquarion.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
What inspired Kawamori was the XB-70 valkyrie. He actually said the VF-1 drew inspiration by both the F/A-18 Hornet and F-111 Aardvark. No doubt there is influence by the Tomcat. The VF-1 in 1/1 scale is smaller than the F-16, so it could be said its tiny compared to modern fighters. -
Actually no, what they are doing is whats called "making a quick buck". Model kits are reissued over the years far more than toys, and are cheaper to release. If they make a PV toy, they will end up satisfying both the model market with the model reissues, and toy collectors who want a toy. If Yamato had model kits, they probably would have already done the same thing. People are being pessimistic. They keep thinking this is still 1994 and that its the same Bandai as the 1994 team who designed the Macross 7 toys. The same people with the pessimistic viewpoint still think there are kids in Japan for Bandai to make a huge profit off of.
