Transformer Super Thread 6
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
He is %40 off at walmart man, so he is $30, buy him now, you won't regret it! I am actually more impressed by him than both Unicron and Primus, even if both of the latter have some better things going for them. Neither of those two showed up much in the TAC line. Luke showed up but even he was just relegated to 4 waves, each being a different figure. His presence on shelf was far outshown by the abundance of no name army building clone troopers, who were far more popular. Its been said by people in the action figure industry many times, no franchise can be compared to Star Wars. Even some of their mass market waves have no main character at all, yet still sell and have high demand. I had no idea he could stretch his legs, he looks much better. So does he have full shoulder articulation? Also, what do you think of the X-wing? Despite my dissapointment that it is based on the vintage stubby xwing toy, and that I have not read one good review on it, I am still tempted to buy it. I hear Cody and the sharkmouth ARC-170 are some of the best in addition to the Death Star and Millenium Falcon. Well Sigma 6 died and those 2 were in nearly every wave... This is a valid concern but I think Classics will still survive, since it will arrive when only the cartoon toys are on shelves. By that time the movie toys will be gone and clearanced. Its possible, but what I think hurt it the most was lack of advertising. With the movie toys, they are advertised everywhere from men's magazines to comics and much more. With Alternators, it was either word of mouth or seeing it in stores. It might be the case, but with minimal character overlap(the same characters in both lines), and with Prowl and others who show up in both lines but looking very different from each other, the lines may not cancel each other out. They may actually complement each other. For example, we know for sure Prowl will be in both Classics and Animated. However both look entirely different. What if an Ironhide toy comes out in Animated? In Animated he looks like his G1 self. In that case, he may not be in Classics(doesn't stop me from wanting a Classics styled version though). So long as the character versions look very different, character overlap can occur, but if they look very similar, I doubt they will make it to shelves in both incarnations. Same reason I relucltantly accept that Blitzwing might not make it in Classics. With only 2 Transformer lines out this fall(08, with animated and classics), and the xmas rush, I think both will sell well. We won't need to worry until next spring. Lack of character overlap may actually encourage kids to buy the classics characters that don't show up in animated, to expand their collection. With that said, neither toy line destroys each other, and both hopefully last instead of dying like alternators. Agreed completely, and well said. -

To be honest yes. Transformation is better on both of those, but balance, proportions(especially compared to Primus) and electronics are far better on Darth Vader. Lots of play value, and seems less "kiddified" than Unicron. Primus and Unicron are bigger, but for the discount price, and for what he has, Vader is awesome. Funny thing is, there are more electronic gimmicks than just the voices you sample in box. -

Just got SWTF Darth Vader Death Star. Completely awesome. He is a shell former, therefore irritating to transform, but solid in both modes, electronics are actually fun and well suited for this figure. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The joe fans here wuv teh hisstank! Yep they are important, well Max is, Kakizaki isn't. I'm surprised the guy even got a 1/48 DYRL release, considering he was barely in the movie. OOOOOO I just thought about it, with the double jointed elbows, the new 1/60 should be able to replicate Max's pose after he had just gunned Milia down. I hope this has double jointed knees too. -

I want to see a VF-1D before the ELINT and Super O, though I'd buy those too. The VF-1D would make an excellent toy, and it is memorable. It would make an excellent choice as a low viz. Me personally, I don't want a low viz based on the 1/48, I want a low viz scheme that is Tomcat based this time around(the 1/48 low viz was based on an F-15 Eagle low viz scheme). For a high viz valk, I want a tiger meet version. Also, I had no idea the TV and DYRL VF-1A heads were different. No wonder the VF-1A looked bad ass in DYRL!(I've always thought that DYRL made the VF-1A bad ass, its a beaut in it!) -

Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Maximiria wants bigger legs............in Eugimon's Omega Pants. I hope the YF-21 retains the gloss finish shown in the mags. Also, this valk would look absolutely killer in a low viz scheme, or in all black with white, grey, or silver trim. It just looks menacing, like a flying ass kicking shadow. -

I can do without Kakizaki, but Max's TV VF-1A is the valk he flew in his most memorable appearances during the series. He became an ace many times over in it, rescued Kakizaki, Hikaru and Misa from the Zentraedi, disguised himself as a Zentraedi in doing so, threw Breetai into outer space, and gunned down Milia. The J may have the more elaborate paint job, but his A model had the most significance in combat. Its like model enthusiasts, they want models of Mig killers, even if some of them were in drab or low viz colors, over the high viz CAG birds, simply due to historical importance/significance. His DYRL VF-1A is probably the best looking VF-1 he flew, but his TV VF-1A is the most important. All he did in the J was fight with FAST packs, help Milia in showing off Komilia and babysitting, and putting out a fire. That was about it. In DYRL he is steals the show in his Super version for a few minutes whilst saving Kakizaki, and Hikaru, while blowing the brains out of a Zentraedi. His jaw dropping scenes in that movie was when he was Skull 1. If anything, I think he flew his important missions in his TV VF-1A than any of his other VF-1s combined. If Yamato can make a DYRL Kakizaki VF-1A, for the comedy relief cannon fodder pilot, why not the TV VF-1A for the blue haired badass? Besides, all Kakizaki did in DYRL was ask for help, then later on, get killed while laughing about women. -

The drones and decepticons combined in the movie line outnumber the autobots. While I do like some of the drones, some of them aren't that exciting. I doubt the repaint drones for the allspark power segment will sell strongly. The kids who missed out this past year will still be looking for Prime and Bumblebee. -

The Hawk pack, SE/SS pack, and Duke/CC. The noticeable differences in the wave 2 versions, are that SE/Hawk will have the same fixed crotch as the fixed crotch(narrow crotch) Stalker that is now shipping in wave 3. Breaker uses a retooled Duke mold with fixed crotch, and this fixed crotch should be on Duke in the wave 2 comic packs. -

Completely agreed. Leader Starscream would also have brand recognition going for him. Despite the young age of some of the new movie fans from this summer, they all still wanted the regular movie figures, not so much the FABs and whatnot. -

Wave 5 has the fix, as well as comic packs from wave 1 that are carrying over into wave 2. Everything from this point on will more than likely have the fix. -

HELL YES! Don't know about the Sundowners, but I know the Black Knights were in japan, and the model companies ALWAYS put out Black Knight Tomcats. I wouldn't mind seeing a Black Knights VF-1(never see one customized into that), and VF-1 Wolfpack 1975 version(quite possibly the best high viz scheme). -

The rather unfortunate truth, is that thats who retailers think kids want, when we all know in reality, this isn't really the case. Hehe, when I was a kid, it all boiled down to who had the best jet mode. Obviously why Jetfire was my favorite Transformer as a child, and Masterpiece Starscream is my favorite transformer as an adult. Transforming jets rule. Still regret never being able to buy those decepticon triple changer headmaster jets when I was a child. Decepticons do tend to have the better aesthetic and alt modes. The g1 post 85 ones ruled(so did the pre ones, but the futuristic ones kicked ass, well some of them did, disregard the movie ones). Look at the Animated figures. Blitzwing turns into a tank and jet. KICK ASS. Starscream, a jet. Awesome. Lugnut, a wwII inspired bomber. EXCELLENT. Lockdown, some evil car that probably scares the cars in the animated Cars movie. The only time any the villains in Transformers looked lacking compared to autobots was Car Robots/RID and Beast Wars. -
True, the XLAA does not guarantee kills, its actually been officially stated that it trades off accuracy for range, whereas the XMAA is the other way around. I've grown accustomed to using the Tomcat in the AC series, as well as Over-G and the aerodancing series. In addition, I also use the Windhover F-16 often. I did win a battle royale once with the AC2 Falcon, but that was difficult, since it has no SP weapons at all. I really wanted the F-5 series, F-4 and F-8 to be playable in the game. I do like a lot of the older fighters.

Anyone with me in wanting grey instead of white on the valks? For example, instead of Hikaru's VF-1J being white and red, it would be grey and red, like the bandai reissue/vintage takatoku. The light grey always looked more militaristic and just plane awesome, even if it is not canon. Same on Focker's valk. Yamato did this years back on Max's DYRL VF-1A 1/60, and I hope they do the same here. Grey>white -

So far just the 5 packs. The anniversary figures and BBI Elite force figures are right next to each other, and often figures from either line are found on either peg. The BBI figures are all on clearance, so its likely the stocker put the joes on the BBI peg by mistake. I believe there is a Zartan that does not change color. -

Ratchet rules! I love how he flipped out once the cop added more parking tickets on his windshield. It would be awesome if the toy ends up having actual magnets on his feet. -

Clearance for the 5 packs is $17.94, if your target has any left. The one I usually go to had none left, and another one I go to only had 3. The joe pack is dissapointing compared to the Cobra sets. Despite the Cobra legions set having a Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow, their repaints are actually done well, and are striking, just don't expect them to be full fledged replacements to their 2004 versions(which they are influenced by). Key thing to remember, is that they are great figures in their own right, just not great replacements for the 2004 versions. Still wondering why the hell they gave Storm Shadow blue eyes though. Cobra legions is a great set, you have one trooper that you can turn into an air trooper, 2 other army builders, and nice repaints of Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow, as well as the Cobra logo sound display. The set features all new artwork for some of the figures and the background as well as box display is nice. I still hate how the figures are so hard to get out of the packaging, as well as having elastic ties binding their weapons to hands in box. This causes warpage and contributes to difficulty in holding weapons. For those of you who want a quick fix to holding weapons. Take a hair dryer, aim it at your figure's hands for about a minute, or until the hands become soft. Squeeze into the shape/grip you want, and then immediately rinse under cold water. This will resolidify the hand. Or do what I do, and afterwards throw the figure in the freezer for 5 minutes. If you want the core Cobra group, the first cobra 5 pack is a must have. If you want a multipurpose bunch, get the Legions. I have both, and like both of them a lot. I haven't. Although I do have a feeling that a month from now, once the xmas rush is over, and the post xmas clearance rush is over, the joes won't be hard to find. -

Hell yea. Besides, after rewatching SDF Macross from the very beginning, I'm itching to get a Hikaru 1J, VF-1D, and Max's first ride. Memorable moments in each valkyrie. Sure, they weren't used by the main character by the end of the series, but nonetheless, they gave us great initial first impressions. -

I'd rather they not. In fact, I would be content with just removable covers/panels to expose inner detail, and thats it.
