  1. Doubtful, Northrop Grumman is not that anal. The guys designing the toys may not know much about the A-10 aside a couple reference images they have. Cybertron Wing Saber may have had difficulty engineering his key gimmick with the original cockpit. For Powerglide, I think whatever looks off on vehicle mode was made as a compromise to make a better looking robot mode.
  2. Powerglide would have been better without the chin intakes on the side of his nose, and his engines closer to his vertical stabilizers. I'm itching for a G2 jetfire(Classics jetfire but with retooled canopy and nose section to be F-22/NATF-like, F-22/NATF vertical stabilizers, and G2 paint scheme. They can even repaint the sumbitch and call him Hooligan. I think one thing most of us wanted on that mold was a realistic nose and canopy. Those parts can be retooled.
  3. I hope next months magazines have more pics, what a tease, they show us the armor right away, but nothing else.
  4. I would gladly buy the following: VF-1S Focker(please be in grey, please! VF-1J Hikaru(grey could work too) VF-1A TV Max type(combat relevant, sure some say its bland, but hell the most significant dogfights do not always have the most colorful plane). VF-1D Maybes=VF-1A Hikaru DYRL(I love that one for some reason), low viz, et al.
  5. Thats not the army builder. Those are the sets that were originally named "rank evolution sets". Its basically what they still are, no idea why they changed the name. The army builders are the 5 packs. There is a Crimson Guard one, Snake Eyes vs Red Ninjas(the single pack version is superior btw in my eyes), and Firefly vs 4 gijoe greenshirts. I hope the greenshirts are done very well. I just recently found the Crimson guard figure for the first time, and it is one of my favorite anniversary figures(btw, I've noticed wave 5's quality is far superior to previous waves. Most joints are not hindered at all, Snowjob's skirt is soft enough to enable hip movement, elbows can be bent 90 degrees, hip joints are tight, all weapons can be held, and the feet retain their grip on the stands better). I hope the Crimson guard pack has removable helmets and turns out great, like the DTC CG set from a few years back that I missed out on. Hooded cobra commander, but surprisingly he is the only figure I usually find. Before then it was Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes v2. Wave 1 comic packs are starting to hit hard, but wave 2 is harder to find. The list I posted on saturday may be bogus, as I read the original thread it was from and it was one of those "my grandma works here or knows so and so and says ....". Unless I hear otherwise, I'm still looking at it as a rumor but I'm starting to doubt its legitimacy. For those of you who want to dig, you can call your walmarts up, ask them to put the numbers in the computer, and if the listing comes up with the exact names, its legit. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen a Ninja viper yet. Hopefully one is made. We definitely need an Ace v3 and Night Viper. I have a strange fascination with clear plastic, so I hope we get a translucent Shadow Ninja Storm Shadow. The original figure's gimmick sucked, the figure was brittle, and was badly executed, but the premise was cool, and I'd love to see s translucent Storm Shadow figure. I'm itching to see what will be unveiled next month at toyfair.
  6. That can be the rational for any movie character. The sad thing about the movie toys, is that as great as they are in my eyes, I know they will most likely be completely outdone by the 2nd movie versions. As it stands, movie Starscream is one of the most fun Starcream figures to play with. A transcanning version would be cool too, no doubt it would be able to have a sleeker alt mode, and I actually want some of the transcanning figures. The top 3 most fun to play with Starscream figures to me are: 1-Masterpiece Hasbro Starscream(yes I play with it) 2-Movie Starscream 3-Classics Starscream
  7. What might be waves 9, 10, and more comic packs: Confirmation on whether these are legit or not should be coming soon
  8. Energon Starscream was a better toy than Armada Starscream, but while they might be desirable for kids, they were both dissapointing for me. I even like the chunky movie Starscream's F-22 mode compared to the hybrid tiny control surface g2 Smokescreen inspired Energon Starscream's fighter mode(I have all 3 of the mentioned toys and played with each extensively, and yes maybe its not exactly an F-22 for Energon but the animation one was more accurate and it was obvious what it was supposed to look like). Armada Starscream suffers from having too much compromise for the minicon gimmick, and Energon Starscream suffers from trying to cram too much in confined areas. Even with the huge undercarriage, I still prefer movie Starscream over both of those. Classics Starscream was a better toy than Energon and Armada Starscream, articulation wasn't hindered, and the alt mode was much more sleeker. Not to mention the weapon launching gimmick didn't get in the way of anything. Thigh/bicep swivels and retractable landing gear along with a flush underside would have made him near perfect though.
  9. Even fewer for Ideon and Aquarion and look what they did with them. 1/72 HCM VF-1 from the mid 80's does things which companies today have still yet to replicate.
  10. TRU exclusive 5 packs and 3 packs galore! 3 packs:$14.99 5 packs:$24.99 GRUUNNNNNNTTTT!!!
  11. Thanks Graham! I guess we will know for sure in the coming months. BTW, the pics in the new magazines look like screengrabs from a commercial, and those usually advertise the price at the very end towards the bottom. I noticed that the images look cropped, so perhaps pricing is not yet finalized? I'm excited for what might be a new VF-1 commercial!
  12. That is very cool, did not expect the rotating seat! Very sleek and awesome. It might be a while before I can afford this, but if I do end up buying it, it seems like it will be worth the wait.
  13. Oh man, a Super VF-1J Hikaru would KICK ASS! (yea yea not canon aside box art from the back of the old takatoku boxes, but whatever, it just looks awesome!). I wonder if these are included with the valk, and still retails for 8700 yen altogether.
  14. Awesome! Thanks Graham! I love how the 171 looks sleeker than the 17, due to it looking longer and the nose is definitely lengthened.
  15. Thats subject to debate. There are some that were too complex for their own good, like Grimlock and to an extent Smokescreen(well he wasn't overly complex, just not as refined as the RX-8 with similar transformation), but some of them were very fun to play with and transform. I like having Transformers that have what I call "pleasant transformations". I group Masterpiece Starscream, Alternators RX-8s, Viper twins, Skids, and Windcharger, Classics deluxes and voyagers, G2 Laser Rod Prime, movie Starscream and movie Leader Prime, Masterpiece Prime, and others in that category. All of these mentioned are very fun to play with for me. Masterpiece Starscream, is very durable as well(aside from the known issues, which are no longer issues once some shaving is done to prone areas). He's a new mold. It took me damn near an hour to figure that out when I first bought him, and even now I get stuck every now and then. I laugh when people tell me the 1/48 VF-1 is hard to transform, when I know from experience alternator/BT Grimlock is much more difficult to transform. Literally night and day. Those of you who are club members should be recieving your newsletters soon with Classics wave 1 unveiled. As for me, I'll just have to wait til the toyfair coverage gets posted online for me to see anything.
  16. Correct. I believe Kwinn also gave them to Snake eyes since Snake Eyes had defeated him, or fought him to a draw. I might be mistaken since its been a while, but it was a gesture of respect. That costume has never been done right until now. With that out, Kwinn is needed.
  17. Theres a high chance he will be though, since he is one size class up.
  18. Wave 8....CONFIRMED! Bigger images here! Now obviously folks these are not final images, and like last year, the toys will most likely look better than these prototypes. The Snake Eyes in this wave is relevant and something I did not see coming at all. We need a Kwinn ASAP. He actually has more accessories than he needs(he didn't use swords in that issue!). I hope Baroness has a fixed crotch. flint rules aside the color scheme, I'm glad his articulation woes will be fixed(count on him having the fixed crotch that Breaker and Rock and Roll have)!
  19. VF-171 ELINT ftw! And hell if its hobby japan pics, you know what that means, TOY PICS FOR THE TOY SECTION TOO! The VF-171 is proving elusive to see pics of in other modes, so I hope we see the battroid mode soon.
  20. I'm beginning to think Powerglide may not be an A-10 after all, especially if Tankor ends up being one....
  21. Its nowhere near a PITA as Alternator/Binaltech Grimlock, or the shellformer, yet badass, Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy. Its the best SWTF that I have. Very stable, ratcheting joints, a lot of playability, electronics that actually are impressive and fun to activate, and also the best Darth Vader SWTF(there are 3 of him so far). btw guys, Classics wave 1 announced, might not be complete, and if you are a club member, you can view Sunstreaker(I'm not a member, so I haven't seen it) I hope Powerglide is a giant A-10. That and somehow I hope we get an ultra sized F-14 transformer in this line. Maybe as Leozack. I hope Magnus, Scorponok, Springer, Sandblaster, and the headmasters make it into this line.
  22. If you remove the pins from the jedi star fighter's wrist, the joints apparently remain tight, and then have ball joint mobility. I forgot how to take them out though. If I pick up that mold(which I may), I will definitely remove the wrist pins. Vermillion, pick up the death star man, you honestly won't regret it.
  23. Does the Vader TIE SWTF have any ratchets? How is the joint tension? Darth Maul looks awesome in that pic you posted!
  24. Agreed, the best guess I can think of, is that they wanted to keep him as a voyager figure and possibly designed the robot mode first. Most of his mass is from robot mode, so I think if they went the route you suggested, he may have ended up as a deluxe. It would be a better toy, but I think they definitely wanted him as a voyager. Still, 2 different sized toys would have kicked ass, and I was optimistic the rumored deluxe version would be an all new toy, but it instead turned out to be the preview figure in a later assortment.
  25. I had the same issue, but I found out with mine, it had to do with the biceps being swiveled, they have to be perpendicular to the bars. Not sure if this is the case with yours. Its not the most secure connection, ratchets in that area would have definitely helped. Doing that sold me completely on the figure, a pleasant transformation and one which left a lasting impression on me for the movie line. The automorph surprised me. He may not seem big in package because of his vehicle mode, but he is beastly in robot mode, and huge. As you guys know, I initially hated the figure when the first testshots were unveiled, but now I like the toy so much I may even buy the deep space version. First off, because its a langley bird, second, I like the paint scheme, and third its a fun toy to play with. Unlike most previous Starscream figures, the robot mode was definitely the emphasis for the movie version. I know that a few fans like the Energon version better, but to me its just boring and the Energon version's faux-F-22 mode actually bothers me more than the chunky movie versions. It bothered me to no end that the bicep articulation on the Energon version was blocked if the shoulders were moved sideways far enough, and that the vertical stabilizers were tiny, and the horizontal stabilizers being placed far too low. Despite having the wrong shapes for some control surfaces, the movie one at least looks like an F-22 in more respects. Well done toy. He is from an older wave but he should be shipping in new cases soon. Each figure in the line has been in every other wave. Agreed, I just wish some of them were more durable. For example, Smokescreen and Grimlock. I love Skids, the viper twins, Windcharger and Shockwave because of their durability and pleasant transformation. Grimlock for me was a nightmare. I don't, but I found more bad reviews about him than the Luke SWTF. The problem, like with most SWTF's is that there are too many parts that get in the way of mobility. He can't really move his legs up. The articulation is there but blocked by panels. If you shave them off, you ruin the look in vehicle mode, which like all SWTF's, is the main draw. Its like the articulation on alternator Sideswipe's hips, the articulation is there, but not very useful. I hear his design as a toy is just hampered by being too complicated than he really needs to be. His robot mode and pilot placement in that mode are great, and his vehicle mode is nice, but overall, I know if I bought him I would be buying a $15 dissapointment. I've been tempted to buy him but have decided not to. That sounds very promising. I am tempted to buy Saesee's because he is one of the top tier jedi pilots, the color scheme is good, and he is more obscure than Obi Wan. However Obi Wan always has awesome color schemes on his ships... Maul will probably be bought too. Great to hear! I love ratchets. The ARC-170 definitely needed good tension, but just lacks it completely in the shoulders. They're sticking out laterally enough to stop the shoulder from going any further than what you see I was afraid of that. Damn it! If they hadn't kept repainting the other starfighter SWTF, which would you prefer, the ep II one, or the Ep III one? Reason enough to buy him for me! Anyone have the Darth Vader Tie Advanced SWTF? How is it, aside from its horribly placed shoulders?
