25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I have a handful of Destros, and this one is my favorite. I remember seeing pics of the vintage one to compare to, and I was shocked by just how much better the new one is. You could try dipping it into boiling water, and then trying to free up the elbow joint by slowly wiggling it. Or you can put him in the freezer for a few minutes, and afterwards try moving the elbow then(the coldness should harden the plastic to a point that it breaks the paint seal after moving the joint). At this point, I do agree that removing the joint from the upper arm may tear down the joint. Good luck man. -
War Machine and mkIII are excellent figures.

The first Iron Monger has one hip that does not move at all, yet has knees and ankles. It has the dreaded action attack that once again takes away articulation. None of the current figures can replicate the repulsor blast pose without modification. You have to pry away the pad on the back of the hands, rotate them 180 degrees, and glue back on. Or simply leave them off. I hope Iron Monger II has fully functioning hips. The plastic feels rubbery but not overly so. I had no broken joints at all. My mk3 has a loose left hip though. mkI dissapointed me the most, and it was the one I looked forward to the most. I love the design! However his mobility is hindered severely. You can't even bend his arms at a 45 degree angle. Maybe 20 degrees at most. Prototype has the removeable chest plate, and adds depth, which looks more realistic for a man in a suit. His paint apps are superior to the mk 3. Of all the ones out right now, my favorite is leaning towards the Stealth Operations suit(War Machine). I love how his shoulder weaponry can swivel back on hinges. Too bad his forearm cannons are not very secure. Silver centurion Iron Man looks great except he has nothing to set him apart from mk3 aside the paint job. The 12" Repulsor blast Iron man is a brick. No ball joint legs or arms, single hinged elbows and knees. Not even sure if the 2nd 12" one with removable mask and additional weaponry will be articulated more. By far the best Marvel movie line figures that Hasbro has made. Jesse Falcon is rumored to have worked on this line, and if he did, you can definitely feel the difference.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I find the 1/48s proportions weird, and the new 1/60 fixes those proportions. Skinny arms/big chest/chicken fingers<bigger arms in proportion to chest + bigger hands. Also, it looks like not only are they giving us hands with moving fingers, but also swappable fixed pose hands! -

Actually he is high in demand in my area, I see a lot some times but the next times I return to the store, he is usually sold out. Best Destro EVER. I found mine in a kmart of all places. I hate shopping there. -

I forget what exactly happened, but in the recent line, Storm shadow either blew up, or cut off one of Bludd's hands. -
True. I remember Joel's prices being cheaper a few years back, but he did start charging more. Maybe laftoys, or tmp will offer a cheaper price. And last....quite possibly more than 2 decades. A lot of transfans have vintage Jetfires 2ndhand that have yet to break and are in good condition.

The main dissapointment of that wave is that Major Bludd's robot arm cannot bend at the elbow. The vintage figure did not have a moveable robotic arm either but still, its dissapointing. I hope we get another Major Bludd from the line, maybe his 2nd uniform, and have both arms with moving elbows, not just one. I won't be getting all of wave 8, unlike wave 7. Might buy Roadblock(dissapointed that his left hand is still wide open though), and definitely buying snow suit Snake Eyes. -

Small gallery! I dig CM's interpretation of the Legioss, I like the narrow nose. I prefer that over a thicker, stumpy looking nose. Looks like the Dday stripes are painted on! -

I want Sideshow to take a stab at Darth Revan, who is my favorite Sith. Not to mention, there could be a vast number of accessories. -

Agreed, thats one of its redeeming qualities and the one that appeals to me! The new one has ball jointed hips, and while this sounds awesome, its awkward. The sculpt of the armor hinders his hips, so while you do get the ball jointed articulation, you cannot move his hips that much. If you have the new wave 1 Obi Wan or Anakin, Gree's ball jointed hips are hindered considerably compared to theirs. I saw Force Unleashed figures twice, but just Juno Eclipse and Ram Kohta. Haven't seen them since. I think they are hard to find just because they are new. Then again Star Wars scalpers are a whole other beast altogether. The Force Unleashed Evolutions set is awesome. The only things I would have wanted to see are the multiple sabers for the Sithlord Apprentice since he collects them(handles attaches to his costume), and ball jointed elbows for the Jedi version, since the cut ones do not offer the same amount of motion that ball jointed ones do. The Fett set is good too if you can overlook the lack of tampos on Boba. My main gripe is those damn wire pieces connected to the elbows that make them hard to bend. -
Hey guys, since the Toynami Alpha isn't out of my budget, I am thinking about getting one in the future. I've always liked the Legioss mecha design. Is there any way to avoid breakages? I've been staring at jenius' pictures at anymoon.com, and at yaco's gallery pics on his blog. The Toynami doesn't look bad. However after seeing a severed arm at anymoon on a red MPC, and hearing about the numerous breakages some of you had, I was wondering if there were any ways to avoid it. I am starting to think there isn't. I would hate to buy one MIB off robotech.com and to open the box to see an arm fall off. That would irritate me to no end. I am a fan of Toynami's VF-1 MPC's, and concluded that the Alphas must be better. However after reading several reviews, I was surprised to find the notion that maybe the VF-1 MPC's were actually more durable. Thoughts>?

Star Wars toys

Same here, I love the design, and since its a bigger vehicle with parts closer together it may have a good looking unanorexic robot mode. -
I made this topic since quite a number of us buy Star Wars toys, whether it be light sabers, Hasbro figures, vehicles, SWTF's, and what not. Post all your pictures of the toys here! Discuss! Apparently the upcoming TRU exclusive B-wing for $34.99 hasn't been revealed yet since it is from an EU storyline that holds some surprises. Maybe its an upcoming comic story line? Who the hell knows. The B-wing is one of my favorite designs, so I am glad to have the chance to buy it. The A-wing is being reissued later this year too. I need that also. I hope more EU characters like the KOTOR cast are made into figures. We need more than just Revan, Malak, Mandalore and Nhilus. As much as I dislike Bastila's uptightness, I would buy a figure of her. Definitely need a Canderous Mandalore, crusader Mandolorians and the multicolored Mandolorian armors with melee weapons. I've bought a few SWTF's, to complement my Death Star Vader, and thinking they would be of similar quality. Turns out even the best are not. If you want one SWTF, make it the Death Star Vader. If you want more, some of them are neat, but none are of the same calibre as Vader's Death Star. As good as the ARC-170 looks, its stability in robot mode sucks. This year we will see EU figures based on the current Star Wars:Legacy comic. The storyline is cliche, about a mercenary angst filled Skywalker in the future who we can all see return to his jedi roots. The figures look great, but storyline still lacks.

OZMA's VF-25 is WONDERFUL IN GREY! I've always loved dark grey paint schemes on valks. The VF-25's battroid design takes some getting used to, but I do like it. -
Christ man, how much did you pay for that sumbitch? Vintage painted boxes=WIN

Have any of you bought Energer Z? I saw it at my LCS, wanted to know your opinions on it. To me it lacks accessories. -
Hey I want a DYRL trio(Strike, et al), because I was never able to see one as a child, and do not want to pay high up on ebay for a vintage one. I'd like to be able to buy them at affordable prices brand new. Nothing replaces the feeling of opening a fresh, unopened toy. Call me crazy, but I also wanted a shrunk down chunky monkey, same mold just smaller scale, like Bandai's "The-Chogokin" line from a while back. Chunky in the pocket! That would KICK ALL ASS. Can't wait to buy Hikaru's 1J in summer. I hope they retain the gloss coating, painted details, and ever so tight ratchets that the reissues from a few years back had. Of all the VF-1 toys, the 1/55 has always looked the most balanced to me, with niether mode being emphasized over the other, each one balanced, and still the fastest to transform without being overly simple, and still the most durable with the best finish. For a toy to stay this good since its inception, that says something about its quality. Its not like a vintage transformer, where some of the modern counterparts completely blow it away in every category. To this day, there are still some things that the chunky monkey does better than its descendants. Chunky ftw

I like the look of this set a lot, don't know if I will ever pick it up(its expensive for me), but it doesn't stop me from wanting it. Hopefully some day CM's will make a higher production run and sell them for less. Inaccurate as it may be, I like their interpretation of the Armo fighter mode. -
SHINDENS! Hopefully this is good, the only exposure to Oshii's work for me is the first GITS, which I liked but it was long.

"Megatron Rising" part 1 was great, just saw it. Prime has a hard time trying to lead, the Decepticons mobilize, the Decepticons show more team work than the autobots, a unity vs the disarray amongst the autobot ranks. It doesn't seem like the dinobots will be much help(though you can already tell they will probably be the deus ex machina in the next episode and slowly learn to trust Prime in season 2). Megatron's earth mode looks awesome. Can't wait for the toy!
