  1. The closest one I can think of is Masterpiece Starscream, another Kawamori design.
  2. Thats actually a common complaint amongst Star Wars collectors, and its turned many away from buying it.
  3. We are subliminally brainwashing you into watching Gundam.
  4. 1/144. The bigger diecast ones are 1/100
  5. Tom Cooper debunked that, it never happened. The Tomcat fleet in Iran was never in shambles as much as the US media said it was.
  6. Saw some episodes back in 2002, never finished it. Just got it, never finished it. I am one the 2nd disc, love it so far! Definitely the Top Gun of Gundam. Uraki is a likeable character, despite facing the Nightmare of Solomon, he doesn't back down and still puts up a fight.
  7. Yeah, but 0083's soundtrack went with its Top Gun-esque storyline, and perhaps the song was referring to the moron Monsha's constant hard-on for Nina. *edit*. On 2nd thought, I remembered the wrong song, now that I know which song you guys are talking about...yeah WHAT THE hell was that all about? LOL. That song was weird! Its like the staff was like, "Okay, okay, get this, we got MIO to do some freaking songs, how about we get this guy from OVERSEAS TO DO A SONG THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY FOR THE ED! ITS MAGIC BECAUSE WE OURSELVES DON'T KNOW WHY THE HELL WE WANT THIS SONG FOR THE ENDING EITHER!~ "Beyond the Time" has to be one of the most fitting Gundam songs. Just saw Char's Counterattack in its entirety the other day. One of my favs now! There is definitely a winner in the rivalry, which is good, Char/Amuro's rivalry would have dragged and sucked had it been left open to debate. "FUNNEL!"
  8. Animated Blitzwing, full body shot! Never thought this would happen, but he has a way larger undercarriage than Movie Starscream! True its a compromise, and mistransformed, but still, I don't think theres any way getting around it. Swing wings/F-14 influence FTW though.
  9. No prob man! Another rule of thumb, is that Hasbro tends to retool or repaint each new mold/tooling/piece, at least once. Very rarely do they stray away from this. For example the first battle pack Snake Eyes. The minute I saw it, the first thought in my head was, "I bet they will repaint him black". I was right, he was repainted in black for wave 5. Even before then, he was the base figure for wave 1, with new head and came with sword and Timber. After wave 5, he was in the first wave of comic packs in blue. Then in wave 3 comic packs, battle damaged, with new tooling on the torso/arms. Then in the TRU Red Ninja battle pack. Another example is the upcoming wave 7 Snake Eyes. It can easily be repainted and released as the 2000 version of Snake Eyes. The old v3(which the new wave 7 is based on), was repainted in black with metallic blue trim, and a tampo printed gijoe logo on the right thigh, for a 2000 2 pack. Coincidentally enough, that was my first time owning the mold, and I unexpectedly liked the figure a lot(one of my favorites now).
  10. Oh god no, op/ed songs that have nothing to do with the actual story!
  11. It definitely plays, the video just lags like hell on VLC and Mplayer. I am trying to watch this on a g4 iMac. Xvids, avis, work, from what I remember, mkvs worked like a charm on Mplayer as well. Mp4 is just a pain to play on a mac.
  12. Most likely in white, he is a Cobra in the movie. According to the toy list we have at hisstank, the movie will have accelerator suits in addition to regular costumes. It hasn't been said whether or not the image is of an accelerator suit, or Scarlett's regular costume. Also, the 2 Snake Eyes pics unveiled a few weeks back featured different accessories on the torso, so throughout the film, each character may have different uniforms and accessories.
  13. LOL Leonidas is saying:"WE ARE INDESTRUCTIBLE, KID NOT HURT US, WE HURT KID!"
  14. I heard the sound effects were different, more generic.
  15. Because it was never explicitly said, nor implied. Also, Bernie by all means, was a newbie. There were no hints of Christina even predicting her enemy's movements either. She was even desperate in her counter attacks. Sure she took out Misha rather easily, but that could also be due to the fact that the arm cannon in the Alex may have used high calibre rounds. Add to the fact, Bernie was using a damaged Zaku(yea repaired, but still that thing wasn't exactly mint).
  16. As good as this one is, it still lacks ball jointed elbows, which a lot of fans, myself included, want on this figure. We hope the upcoming Durge comic pack has an Anakin with the ball elbows, but no one knows for sure yet. Surprisingly enough, one of the best Anakin figures is the Spirit of Anakin. I have a thing for clear plastic figures, so for me, it was an immediate buy when I saw it in person.
  17. Yes I have, it won't open, I also have the newest version or Perian installed. I do not have Final Cut, so that could be a factor... What are Fusion and Parallels? I am watching it on a G4 iMac.
  18. Yeah, and? The dub sucks, and the extras are not anything worth shelling out more money for. If the extras featured in depth commentary, like interviews with Miyatake and Kawamori, old commercials of the Takatokus, and much more, then maybe I can see why anyone would want the ADV version. The ADV version is too butchered, I believe Hurin or one of the other mods made a comparison between both versions, and the end result, is that the Animeigo is the closest to the original you will ever get. At that price, why the hell would anyone buy the ADV over it?
  19. Alright, I'm watching the ep2 AiA sub, which is great, video quality, audio, are very impressive. However, watching it as an mp4 on my mac is slow. Its not the mp4 itself, its the players. Does anyone know a good mp4 player for mac? I was using Mplayer, and Mplayer plays everything else, even the mkv's, which are a royal pain to play on macs. The main reason I ask is because I am also impressed by Shouta and his group's work on the subs, so I want to stick with their subs of Macross F.
  20. Wait can 0080 be classified as Newtype? I don't think Chris was a newtype, she was intimidated when a EFSF officer told her that the true potential of the ALEX would/could be unlocked by a newtype. Or something like that. Nothing she did struck me as newtype.
  21. The comic packs are hit and miss. If you want the mail-in Doc, you need 6 comic packs. Make sure their packaging is not double taped on the back, as people steal the proof of purchases from the comic packs. The comic packs I recommend are the following: Hooded/cloaked/caped Storm Shadow and Battle damaged Snake Eyes are the best versions of said characters in the line, to me. By buying these 6 sets, provided you do not already have Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, you will only be buying one duplicate figure(Scarlett). You will also have enough proof of purchases to buy Doc. The crotch fix is identifiable by the shape, which is more of a "y" as opposed to a "v". The comic packs from wave 1 that showed up in wave 2 have the crotch fix, and as far as I know, thats the only identifying factor. As for skipping wave 1-3, it all depends on how much you like the characters. I bought most of wave 1. For Flint, you can wait, since a fixed version is likely to come out, either this year or next, and the upcoming Tiger Force one has the fixes that the previous one does not. If you want a Classic Zartan, wait for the new one thats coming out. Same with Serpentor, Classic versions of both are to be out later this year. I think a more accurate v2 Snake Eyes, and v2 Storm Shadow is dependent on whether or not they get voted into the top 10 on Hasbro's Hall of Heroes poll. Nonetheless, I still think a black v2 Snake Eyes is inevitable. As much as people like the commando version better, v2 is the most iconic, and his new look in the movie is based on it. Stalker is a great figure, and there are currently 3 versions:yellow, green(classic), and green with fixed crotch. Skip Lady Jaye, since a better cartoon/hatless version is coming later in a DVD pack. There is an upcoming Firefly in the wave 4 comic packs with new vest/backpack/gun, and darker color scheme(fans complained about the wave 3 single carded one saying he was too light, but the lightness did not bother me at all, in fact I barely noticed it). Red Ninja comes single carded, or in a Snake Eyes vs Red Ninja set with 4 Red Ninjas, one of them being a Leader with different paint scheme, and bandolier, this is a TRU exclusive. The Red Ninjas in that set lack Cobra symbols. So you can use those as the good Red Ninjas. All varieties of Red Ninjas are worth getting, however the Cobra single packed one is best, since the red is much more vibrant. Shipwreck is worth getting but his left arm is clenched permanently in a fist. If you don't like the different paint apps on the Cobra Trooper or Officer, you can skip those, they are just repaints of whats in the battle packs. So to sum it up, its all about which characters you like the most. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow repaints are a given. Wave 5, and the 3 new characters from wave 6 are worth getting(there were carry over figures in wave 6 also, the 3 new ones are Torpedo, battle armored Cobra Commander, and Rock n' Roll, Rock n' Roll has the unfixed Duke arms, which SUCK). Wave 5 completely blew me away with regards to quality, solidity, and durability. Wave 1 of the comic packs is not worth getting provided you get the wave 2 versions with the fixed crotch. Also the wave 3 comic pack version of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow is way better than the wave 1 version.
  22. No it wasn't. From what I remember, Kawamori was actually surprised to see the SU-47 years after he had designed the YF-19. Primary design influence of the YF-19 is the X-29. Hell if you want a random rumor, we can say Kawamori's head exploded once he saw the Gijoe Conquest X-30, and just had to make it transform into a robot with a kite symbol on it. Since Mikhail and Luka have different armnaments than Alto's base VF-25, it makes me wonder if he himself will get something unique to make his VF-25 stand apart from all the others.
  23. No prob man! Glad I could help. We get a lot of news at Hisstank, and its fun letting you guys know what the news is. Your plan sounds good. The noteable ones from waves 1-3 are Firefly(fixed crotch), Beachhead(fixed crotch), v2 Storm Shadow, v2 Snake Eyes, Zartan, Stalker, Shipwreck, Red Ninja, and the Cobra Officer. Snake Eyes and Stalker have fixed crotch versions too, but even with the wide crotch, could still sit well. Your best bet for Zartan is the color changing version(face). Wave 1 and 2 are shipping out again, this time with 2 pegs on their stands for the joes. I think its inevitable that we will get v2 Snake Eyes in black. I am not sure if you are a big Snake Eyes fan, but the upcoming v3 homage with the butterfly knives is AWESOME. Wave 7 was already on ebay overseas, I am not sure if it was from Hong Kong, or Singapore, but it was definitely on ebay not too long ago. It might still be now. Thats the wave set to hit either later this month, or early next month.
