They aren't but they screw up more frequently than the likes of Takara and Bandai. Sure Yamato is a much smaller company and is the newbie in comparison, but if they are going to charge high for their toys, and expect to play with the big boys, it would be good if their quality control was up to par. Sure it might be now with the new guy on board, but its going to make up for the various qc/design problems they've had the last 8 years. Anyways since the DX was not actually at Shizuoka, I have a feeling Bandai will unveil the first waves of the DX and 1/100 lines at Summer Wonderfest. Damn I hate waiting.

I have that DVD and yes it does suck. Haven't read Arashikage Showdown yet, I haven't seen it in my area. Storm shadow has way more to be angry about than Snake Eyes. Snake Eyes is the result of misfortune, Storm Shadow is the result of betrayal. Storm Shadow has to temper his desire for revenge, and his animosity/jealousy towards Snake Eyes. It doesn't help that Storm shadow saved his life in Vietnam and welcomed him into his own family afterwards. You should check out the Storm shadow comic, the issues by Mark Robinson have horrible artwork, but the 2 guys that subbed in did a way better job. Storywise, its the meat of the series, and its by Hama. Its great, by the middle there is something resolved with Zartan. If Zartan goes against what was brought to him in that issue, he gives Storm Shadow all reason to finally kill him off.

Anyone know who the guitarist is for Sheryl Nome's songs? The instrumental towards the end is excellent. Her songs are great, though I think Ranka is actually the better singer. -
Storm Shadow is the better of the 2. I have always liked him more, and thought that he always got the shaft, in favor of Storm Shadow, by the way he is treated in the comics, as well as Hasbro treats him in the toyline(moreso a few years back, anyone remember not getting a new sculpt O-ring Storm Shadow until 2004?). See Storm Shadow has to overcome his own inner demons as opposed to Snake Eyes' innocent personality but tragic pattern of life. Storm Shadow had to live a lie to find the truth. He got framed for a murder he did not even commit, and some of his own family thought he was the perpetrator too. He invited an outsider to the clan as an act of kindness, and ends up being overlooked for the outsider(Snake Eyes). He had to deal with his animosity towards Snake Eyes, the man whose live he saved, and in the end Snake Eyes still won the favor of Storm Shadow's uncles. As a result of Cobra Commander blackmailing Zartan into making the hit, Hard Master dies, and Storm Shadow is framed. All this would have never happened had he not extended his hand of friendship towards Snake Eyes. Not to mention, eventually Storm Shadow overcame the multiple brainwashings he endured under Cobra, and made his way back to the joes. He is a lot more interesting, due to the fact that not only does he have to fight his own internal struggle, but many of the people around him. Now Snake Eyes is interesting too, but his character is basically the nice guy who fights well, and is mysterious, but has all kinds of bad stuff following him. He doesn't have to overcome nowhere nearly as much as Storm Shadow. Snake Eyes doesn't have to work to gain anyone's trust, he doesn't have to prove to anyone how loyal he is.

25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
A CG 5 pack, along with a Firefly vs 4 Greenshirts 5 pack was temporarily listed at TRU.com for release in august. Apparently someone had seen a pic but forgot to take a screengrab before it went down. -
That depends on who you speak to, most casual fans love Snake Eyes, most diehards hate him. I like him but he is over rated, and over used. Naming the comic "Gi Joe starring Snake Eyes" in the 90's was not cool. He is the epitome of a deus ex machina. Storm shadow and SE featured heavily since they were the only joe and Cobra who had ties to each other. It didn't help that they are amongst Hama's favorite characters. When Snake Eyes was revealed to be a ninja, and stories started focusing around him, and many other characters ended up being ninjas(Firefly), thats when a lot of people started to get turned off. Not really. BattleForce 2000 did, but most joe techs are still alive in the comic. No they are casual movie goers who want to see the next big summer action flick. The diehard fans may provide revenue for the anniversary line, but they will not compromise the majority of the people watching it. Seeing as a ton of people bitch about the movie daily at HissTank, I highly doubt they will be the ones compromising the majority of the audience. Adults, teens, parents and kids will most likely watch the movie. I don't doubt that old school fans will watch it, but I doubt they will be the majority. I don't think its dumbed down for them. RAH had joes from all over the world, so I don't see why the old name has to be used for the new movie.

25th Anniversary GI Joe

Yes. Someone asked this at HissTank and still hasn't gotten an answer either. -
The Belgian angle is out, anything Fox news reported on the movie months back to last summer was false. The most notable people to trust with regards to the movie are El Miyambe from Latino Review, and DESTRO from HissTank. I've heard a ton of stuff from everyone else, but those 2 guys seem to be the only reliable ones. If you are talking about the cartoon, yes, but the comic? No. The only one rumored to be French is Snake Eyes. Whether true or not, I could care less, he was caucasian in the comics but it was never explicitly stated where his ancestors were from. In other words, no one really knew wtf he was.

The next big item rumored is a Star Destroyer. -
Just to clear up the confusion: The 1/60 DX is only seen on the ad that says DX and shows a grey resin prototype in 3 modes. The 1/72 kit is shown in color as Alto's VF-25F on action stands, as well as Ozma's VF-25S in battroid mode, and one in gerwalk mode. You can tell it is 1/72 as the sizes in battroid mode are the exact same. In conclusion, the only VF-25 on display is the 1/72 VF-25 plamo, the DX is only shown on an ad.

25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Both single packs wave 8 and comic packs wave 4 came out today!. Wave 7 has barely been out, and now these 2 come out! It took a while for wave 7 to arrive after 6, so seeing a simultaneous delivery of both comic and single packs surprises me. More to hunt! Not sure if I will get all of the wave 4 comic packs. Shipwreck seems like a waste. The Oktober Guard guy in the Duke set has the irritating Duke arms. SS vs Firefly seems awesome though. Firefly has darker colors, removable goggles, a new vest, opening...well both have opening backpacks and accessories you can fit inside! Storm Shadow looks great too, those weapons are bad ass and I hear the hands actually have a good grip on them this time around. -

That carrier is chock full of win. -
Even the Baroness arc by Powers right after the Sei Tin story was far superior to Casey's run on America's Elite. It also leads into WWIII. Powers manages to write an interesting story that isn't chock full of ninjas, no Snake Eyes as a deus ex machina(Firefly almost killed him), and isn't cliche(unlike Casey's stories, like when he turned Snake Eyes into an evil red clad ninja after returning from death, who really didn't see that coming? This is just my theory, but I have a feeling at the end of the DDP WWIII storyline, Storm Shadow will bite it, but not before killing off Cobra Commander and Zartan, and Snake Eyes will be left the exact same way as he started with the joes; alone. If Storm Shadow gets a white/silver powersuit in the movie he will have a sleek armored ninja look, which I think will be bad ass.

They are, thats what the 1/60 DX is. I have a feeling Bandai will pull an Imai and give us both variable 1/72 parts swapping models, 1/72 single mode, more realistic/accurate models, and finally a 1/72 MG series. I see the DX line having at least Luca, Alto, Ozma, and Michel's VF-25s, as well as VF-27 and VF-171. I see the 1/100 line having even more.

According to Patrick Masias' blog(the one linked above with the Super valk pic), Macross was the 2nd biggest anime property at Shizuoka after Gundam. So whats with barely any pics? I have a feeling we missed a lot! -

I may pick up some Combat Heroes, but after getting some free Robot Heroes last year, I wasn't rushing to buy more(still only have 2). If I do buy any, it will only be on the side, I won't be buying a lot.
