  1. Thats the exact same thing I was wondering when the first test shots were being reviewed at tfw2005. Peaugh showed what the sword looked like in the mouth, and it didn't look like it was supposed to be in there. I tried it on mine and reached the same conclusion.
  2. Actually, the grey on the deluxe is more accurate to the animation model in the pilot movie. Its the voyager that is surprisingly inaccurate with its light grey. It is, and its dissapointing. Mine aren't the loosest, but definitely looser than the Cybertronian version, mainly on the shoulders. The shoulders on my Cybertronian one are super tight! Thankfully nothing is floppy on mine. I'm feeling the G1 color scheme and homage on the 2pack one. Oh it definitely is. I've bought some impressive deluxes during the end of the movie line, such as Landmine and Stealth Bumblebee, but Cybertronian Prime is one of the best I have bought in a long while. I had no idea I would feel this way after I saw the SDCC pics last year(I was impressed then, looked forward to the toy, but blown away after opening it). Yes I wish it was longer towards the barrel as opposed to the back. I actually dig the blade that the deluxe one has, it seems like it can be used as a bayonet. That sucks, sorry to hear man. Actually both that and Cybertronian deluxe Megatron's hips can be twisted into the right position, they have detents/ratchets, so they can be twisted to any side, or kept neutral. I thought I was breaking mine at first, till I realized its meant to be twisted either way. I don't have the G1 version, but have Animated, Binaltech, and Classics. Animated is my favorite one too. The Classics one as a figure just comes up short, its lack of locking chest/waist/ab section, its questionable weaponry, the skinny limbs, and the loose hips make it an inferior figure.
  3. I hope so, the 19F/S models are sexy. It probably already has, the thing shown in the magazines was made out of resin and it looked like with that, it couldn't even hold its limbs up, let alone have the crotch in the right position.
  4. fu*cking awesome MaveRick. Now thats a god damn valkyrie factory right there!
  5. It all depends on what you want out of it. If you are looking for just a smaller version of the voyager in a deluxe size, you will be dissapointed. Simplified is more like it. A lot of the details that are painted on the deluxe are actual molded pieces/parts on the voyager. The gun on the deluxe is a more g1-centric gun as opposed to the bfg that the voyager has. Articulation is better all around on the voyager with some exceptions; the deluxe has better shoulder articulation as its double jointed, and the deluxe also has a ball joint neck. The paint job is more animation accurate. The figure has no ratchets at all, and is a lot looser in the hips than the voyager. The blade gimmick is neat, but not as impressive as the voyager. The alt mode is nowhere near as impressive as the voyager(I'll be honest though, the vehicle modes in both don't impress me). Overall I like it because its like G1 Megatron in Animated style, combined influence from the animation model. Basically, if you want it as a substitute for the voyager you will be dissapointed. If you look at it not as a deluxe version of Cybertronian Megatron, but as G1 Megatron in animated style, you may like it, which I do. It lacks the good things that the voyager has(individually molded pieces as opposed to painted, better blade gimmick, ratchets all over the place, and an awesome gun design. I do like both, but for different reasons. I wouldn't want to choose one over the other simply because there are unique enough to appreciate on their own, and are good figures in their own right. Hope this helps.
  6. ..... Lets just say he did and the Japanese fanbase agrees with us to increase the chances of that overlooked sunovagun of a VF-1A variation getting made! Seriously though, for Max that particular version is important, more so than the J. The J just looks more flashy, thats all.
  7. I think he is shorter than both Movie Leaders Optimus and Megatron. Its freaking brilliant. That had to be one of the most impressive aspects of that toy that surprised me after transformation. I've seen more pictures of Prowl in different poses. As a figure its tempting due to the articulation and range of motion. If only his character on the show was more to my liking...oh well. If he turns out better with regards to character development in later episodes/seasons, then I will pick it up.
  8. Good to hear! I will pass on the normal one for sure now.
  9. Same reason I think so too. VF-1A TV Max type is more important! Never been made! Ever! Important, the mount of legendary fighter ace and used in battle to save friends and down Milia who he later married and knocked up 7 times! He did none of that in the 1J! None of that!
  10. Holy crap, the VF-9 is damn sexy. Sure it looked great in the DesignWorks book, but to see a 3D plastic version...whoa.
  11. I think whatever details we are seeing on the photos are all painted on. Notice that in the most recent pictures, the only things missing are the skulls on the FAST pack and a few other details. I think the only stickers to apply are the skulls and minimal small stickers.
  12. He is, I'm just confused on whether or not its Prowl w/sidecar getting released, or if the sidecar is actually sold seperately.
  13. No, haven't heard of one planned either. Thats true, I did not even realize the prototype could do that, I thought I was just looking at mine wrong. It is dissapointing. I just keep mine slung under the arm as opposed to leaving it hanging off the side. This has me puzzled too, as he is in the wave before them! It doesn't make sense to me, he is one of the most popular characters in the show, and he has brand recognition going for him. Lockdown is okay, but overrated. Arm articulation is great, and so is his alt mode, but his leg articulation in robot mode could have been much better. The knees do not bend 90 degrees, only 45-60, and he lacks double joints in that area. His most impressive asset is that there is no indication in either mode that it can even transform, and it seems like he goes up or down a size class depending on which mode he is in. I recommend Bulkhead and Starscream. Bulky is a sleeper hit, transformation, wrecking ball gimmick, and articulation are impressive. For a fat transformer, Bulky can even be stood on one hand. What transformer can do that? Not many. Starscream is impressive, but the excitement isn't so surprising when it was one of the first Animated toys leaked and reviewed extensively months before release.
  14. FINALLY someone gets it!
  15. Additional notes for Grimlock. The paint on his chest piece being behind the plastic as opposed to the front is a nice touch. The flames on his sword are activated by flicking Grimlock's wrist on the right hand. His hip joints are hindered by the waist piece, unfortunately. He he has great range of motion on his knees. Sculpt is way more imposing than Classics Grimlock. Lugnut's gimmick is awesome. You attach his staff to his hand, then tap the bottom of it onto a hard surface to turn it into a mace or staff with edged ending, whatever the hell you call it. Surprisingly enough, Lugnut has less no kibble in alt mode, unlike the movie and animated Starscream toys, which as fighters should be sleek. Come to think of it, even from underneath, Lugnut's alt mode has no obvious giveaways showing that it transform. Transformations are straigthforward and pleasant, you won't be finding anything reminscent of the complex RID car brothers here. What you will find, are brilliant ways to achieve transformation. Another thing about this line is that some figures that you might not think much of actually turn out to be excellent. The animated style works well with these figures, and the articulation is impressive. Kudos to Hasbro for even pulling this off. It makes me wonder how they would make figures from Justice League...if they had the license. Already they are showing that they have Mattel beat with regards to engineering an animated design into a fully articulated toy.
  16. 6/22. Check the endcaps and the endcaps near the bike racks at walmart, some of the displays are obscured by the rack. My Ratchet has dents in the face, and I have a few minor paint oversprays but the biggest thing was a broken knee joint for Megatron from the Battle Begins 2 pack. Great figure, but I need to exchange it, its a shame too, since that kind of breakage shouldn't be happening. This is the first Transformer I have bought in years that has been broken right out of the box. The thing is, I don't even think its possible to see the breakage by looking in the package, since it was obscured by a shinguard. So far I highly recommend voyager Bulkhead, Lugnut(both of these figures were huge surprises for me), Grimlock(blows away the Classics version),Cybertron Prime(great poseability, much better figure than I expected), the Battle Begins pack(now this is how a 2 pack should be done, and it also has a G1 Prime in Animated style that is one hell of a retool. Sure many of the other figures are great but see the thing is I knew they'd be, with the ones I listed, I listed the ones that surprised me most. Starscream takes influence from Bandai's 1/65 DX Macross 7 Fire valkyrie toy(note how close the LERX is to the nose, and the cockpit as well as the placement of the shield in fighter mode), and takatoku's 1/55 Macross VF-1(transformation). Most Macross fans will probably enjoy Starscream. Cybertronian Megatron's range of movement is excellent, and there is ratchets all over the place. The only bad things about the Cybertronian Megatrons are the alt modes. Overall this line is great so far, and surprising. Engineering and playability wise, its already doing many things better than the movie line did.
  17. God I hope so~~!!
  18. Oh not at all, thats what I'm using them as. The DTC/new sculpt figures tend to be the best fits for vehicles, and are very durable.
  19. This is so irritating, my Ninja Gaiden II disc is now coming up as "unplayable disc", yet is not scratched or smudged at all, yet other games like COD4 work. WTF!
  20. They are actually repaints of the DTC joes.
  21. No way man, I want mine qc/broke-arm free, right out of the box, as it should be. Besides I can wait.
  22. 1/60 is close to the size, if not a bit taller than the 1/48 VF-1. 1/100 is definitely bigger than Revoltech and Gundam HCMpro figures....probably 5-6" tall.
  23. I'm itching to get a VF-0A. I'm a big fan of that mecha in particular. Ah well, I'll wait for a qc free ridden release.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai also made non-transformable kits. They've done it before for Macross.
