25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I worry about it being fat and bloated with tiny wings and a gimmick that takes up too much space and affects the proportions in a horrible way. That plane is famous for being sleek, and its next gen version should be the same. Working gear would kick ass. Yes it did. The bad thing about the Skystriker was that the gear and the wings were interlocked. Way to kill storage space with the gear down, and, as a kid, recreating DACM scenes from Top Gun was awkward seeing the gear down. I seem to be the only one dissapointed with that though. Gimmick wise, of all the gijoe planes, the Night Raven had the best. The Phantom X-19 was probably 2nd best. Oh and David, you forgot the Night Raven's internal bomb rack. THAT was awesome. Reaked of F-105 Thunderchief/A-12. -

Sleekest plane in the line, even til now, and the best Cobra jet ever designed. I don't see it as cumbersome at all. What other Cobra jet looks better, the Hurricane, the Rattler? The gimmicks work seamlessly as well. Neither of them look as good. You want to talk about cumbersome, look at the Thunderwing. That bloated thing with tiny wings is nowhere near sleek. You and I both man. I am hoping for a new mold classic Skystriker. I want both man, the new one, and a new one based on the old. It doesn't help that I love both the YF-23 and F-14. -

I'm leaning on YF-23, I read YF-22 at first but it was at a site that rushed to get their reports in quickly and completely overlooked grammatical errors. The guy that told me it was the 23 definitely knew the difference between the 2 planes. -
Pic comparision of new 1/60 VF-1 with 1/48 VF-1
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to dafunguy's topic in Toys
Back in the day one of the guys from Yamato tried arguing that it was "canon". -
Kawamori did request changes during the designing process of the toy, and retconned one of his own designs...so if anything blame Kawamori at this point. No one should be surprised, this is the same guy that didn't want an animation accurate tan tinted VF-0A out by Yamato because to him it was always grey. Thing is Takara is their main rival in Japan. Both make great toys, I'd love to see a valkyrie from Takara at some point, Masterpiece Starscream is my favorite Transformer. Bandai is doing a good job so far, I eagerly await announcement and pics of the armored Ozma.

Its confirmed by Hasbro that the original Skystriker tooling it no longer available. The joes did have the YF-23 once, as the Storm Eagle but it was too small. Proportion wise, it was much better than the Thunderwing though. The 23 along with other Northrop planes is known as one of the "best ones they never made". Its one hell of a Skystriker update, as the company that made the 23 merged with Grumman years ago. IF we do get a skystriker I think it will be the new 23....if its a classic one in addition to that, its got to be a new mold, since the old tooling isn't available. I don't want one over the other, I want both. Keep the 23 sleek and proportionate and don't give it any gimmicks that will bloat it like the thunderwing. -

I think the Skyhawk was announced with Lift Ticket. Also, the new Skystriker in the cartoon has been said to be a YF-23. Pray we get a toy that is not a remold of the tiny Storm Eagle. -
Yes but the argument has once again turned into a subliminal Bandai vs Yamato debate. What we do know is that Bandai can handle diecast much better than Yamato. For the sake of not hearing fanboys incessantly bitch about this, yes its true Yamato is technically a newbie against Bandai. Can Bandai make a better valkyrie? Yes. Yet ask yourself this, when you have a company like Yamato making a 1/60 VF-1, outdo themselves with the 1/48, and then return with a new 1/60 line that outdoes both, and your reissues gather dust, why in hell would you bother making a VF-1 toy when your competition has literally left you in the dust? Its obvious Bandai wanted to do Macross but just waited for the right time to strike. Look at all the improvements we have seen to the VF-25 prototype. The price is right, the toy is comparable in size to the 1/60 YF-19, we have hints that it has diecast which Bandai has a much better track record than Yamato, and its definitely catered to collectors. There is nothing wrong with a company other than Yamato added to the mix, so long as the quality will be good, and it definitely looks much different than Bandai's old 1/65 DX Fire Valkyrie.

So far no. Though I will admit, if we got a Animated Prime figure bigger than the voyager, but with the articulation of the deluxes, the trailer, and ratchets all over like Cybertronian Megatron, it would be the best Animated Prime figure. -

Now I am wondering how in the hell Hasbro figured out a way to shove Wild Weasel into the cockpit, must have remolded the entire interior. -
It wasn't a dogfight, he was shot by 3 Qraus simultaneously and wasn't aware they were there.

How is the reception of the fandom over there in regards to Bandai making the Macross F toys? Are they excited, over predominantly dissapointed that Yamato doesn't have the license, like most fans over on this forum? At the same time, are they excited for the Origin of Valkyrie 1/55 reissues, or skipping those in favor of the new 1/60 VF-1?

Looks sexcellent to me. I wouldn't say for sure just yet, maybe Bandai decided to hold off til they are done engineering the DX figures, as the 1/100 line, though simpler, has potential for exponentially more releases. Most DX releases from Bandai in recent years have had stands included. This includes their Soulspec figures too. I hope the Messiahs have stands...so graceful looking in flight.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I want the VF-11B to come with the 2 atmospheric boosters and the FAST packs from the start. It wasn't the newest flavor of delight in Macross Plus but its arguable the sexiest. I don't know what Kawamori was thinking when he made it but my head exploded when I first saw it in 95. Its been one of my favorite designs since. I want a PVC pilot figure of Isamu with mouth gaping open and looking crazy so I can recreate the pose where his VF-11B grabs Guld's 21, and he makes Guld freak out. Of course this won't happen but that scene ruled. I'm calling it now, best looking Yamato valkyrie on expensive display stand. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
To be honest I like the bubble canopy, as its fitting with modern fighters, especially since the late 70's-present. It may look better not to have it, but a bubble canopy is almost always necessary for fighters, for dogfighting. Also there are some drawings were Kawamori does draw the VF-1 with a slight bubble canopy. -

Saw Deep Space Starscream today in person. It looks beautiful...much much better in person. I didn't get it yet, but its damn tempting. The paint job makes one hell of a difference. Its a First Fighter Wing F-22....so I have reason to buy it. Got my hands on voyager Prime, and the automorph gimmick is great but tricky. No loose shoulders here, but the torso connections to enable "chest" articulation are noticeably looser than other parts. The axe is heavy on the arms, so the biceps swivel freely under the weight. Thats the most dissapointing thing. I don't mind the design of the axe, but due to it weighing the biceps down, I can see why most of you would prefer using the lighter, battle begins axe. This figure has no ratchets at all, from what I can tell. It could have benefitted from ratchets in the arms, especially like voyager Megatron's. What that figure proved, was that a huge gun/weapon contraption could still be posed/mounted on an arm without weighing it down. With that said, voyager Prime cannot hold that many poses with the axe raised up in the air that well. Articulation is great in the arms, and the legs would have been much better with more range of motion in the knees, and thigh swivels. You won't be able to pose this as dynamically as Cybertronian Deluxe Prime. He can still hold his axe with 2 hands, and can kind of cross his arms. Its too easy to dislodge the waist gimmick and have it spin freely, there is a notch that the torso secures itself into but its not very secure. With it secured, the waist is not loose, without, its very loose. Due to size and design its got more presence than the deluxe versions. It matches the animation well and its a solid figure. There is an elbow hinge and one on the side of the elbow, and both can be used well for dynamic poses. As a voyager figure it won't really surprise you as its straight forward, you pretty much know what to expect, especially since its for a average sized character on the show, not a big one like Bulkhead. If the automorph worked better and was less tricky to work, it would be more exciting. The knees do not bend back as much as I'd like either. Nonetheless, its a great figure and worth having. Not the most surprising/impressive voyager but that doesn't mean its not a good one. Its just what you would expect of a decent voyager Transformer -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yea in another thread Back on topic. VFX2 colors would be great. Thats one of the best color schemes I've seen and nice twist on the skull logo. I expect this to either cost more than the 1/60 VF-1, less than the YF-19, or the same as the VF-1. Its not that big of a fighter and is similar in size to the VF-1, maybe just a bit bigger. -
