  1. Can you give us any tips on preventing the breakages that happened on yours? Also is the shoulder area something to worry about, from what you can see? The strap was a PITA to secure on the 1/48, so I could do without it.
  2. Not surprising due to inflation.
  3. True, what makes it worse is that the last 2 releases seemed to be flawless overall.
  4. I hope the guy elaborates and says how it happened, because I hope this is not another case of "god damn it, not THIS sh!t again"
  5. I'd be pissed too man, I am planning to buy this if I see it in person at a con for a good price, but I'm going to inspect the thing from all angles just to be sure, and hope I am not buying a lemon. True Hey any advice on how to avoid breaking the piece that broke on yours? It seems like the hip connection bar and placement in the nose in battroid mode is the area I have seen referenced in other reviews.
  6. Damn I had a feeling it was too good to be true!!!! Thanks for informing us though.....now to see if these breakages are rampant, or isolated...I hope its the latter but honestly I thought the day had finally come when qc problems were a thing of the past with Yamato.
  7. Macross mecha are fairly realistic for what they are. There's a reason why the VF-1 is so revered.... Besides I think you have the wrong forum, most of the guys in this thread, and the TF fans on this board love a lot of the unrealistic alt mode G1 toys. Most of the guys here love the Seacons. I think the Terrorcons are bad ass. Some of the headmasters in the storyline had alien pilots/creators, so its not surprising that their alt modes were futuristic as opposed to realistic. Scorponok is one of the best headmasters yet he is a giant mechanical Scorpion.
  8. Yes, if Walmart does not have them yet, they should buy the time their summer reset is done, I know its before september. DVD Battle packs are mass market
  9. We could get a Classics version, I hope at least a voyager, since the Animated version shares almost nothing in common except for the same voice actor and a monoeye, but even then they are different colors and designs. I never thought about that, I want to try it! I had to sift through the ones I saw since most of the Prowl's had oversprays, and almost all the Sunstreaker's had scratches on the hood.
  10. Thanks for the review Graham! Very informative, and the pics are great too. This valk is able to replicate poses in battroid mode that I have been wanting a VF-1 toy to do in years. I've always liked the MPC's gerwalk mode the best and we finally have something that beats it in that category. We finally have a modern valkyrie toy that has balanced proportions in all 3 modes, something we have not seen since the chunky monkeys were designed. The fighter mode is more accurate and reflective of real world fighters than the 1/48. I dig the gold tint and the bubble canopy. The shoulders not hanging past the legs is a big improvement. No more worrying about BP8, we can hang the damn thing upside down, the FAST packs sound to be far sturdier(or their attachement points, whatever), and quality control sounds like its finally escaping the flaws that have soured Yamato's reputation. This new qc guy is on point. I have never owned a strike valkyrie, this will be my first. Man am I glad I only bought 1 each of the old 1/60 and 1/48.
  11. Thats is, I'm buying this damn thing once I see it in person. I need a Focker valk, love STRIKE armor, and aside the chunky reissues, won't need another Yamato til either the VF-1D, Hikaru 1J, or Max Type TV VF-1A(god I hope this is actually made) are released.
  12. There is a bump/stopper, if the BP8 is bent past it, it will snap inevitably. If the backpack folds all the way, does it snap on the new 1/60? If not, then the problem has been solved. Yes, I think for 10290 yen. FAST pack armor is 3900 yen seperately. Its about time. Can you elaborate? I think this is Yamato's sleeper hit of the year. The least expensive of their valk offerings this year, and sounds like one of the best.
  13. We hate? I LOVE THE HEAD MASTERS.
  14. They surprisingly look much better in person than online, enough for me to actually consider buying some. I'll wait to see Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in person. If only they used the super articulated body as standard, and had more clothes.
  15. Swoosh, hows the transformation, any different/more difficult than the 1/48?
  16. While the forums were down, HissTank was upgraded and it is now better than before! We now have social groups there, a dedicated forum for reviews, comics, et al. Head on over! Also SDCC is this week!
  17. Eh...despite using those in an awesome manner in that episode, I usually associate Alto with the Super armor, which he almost always uses. I'm getting heavy armor for Ozma.
  18. Because they are classic. Thats like asking why Transformers fans still want G1 reissues.
  19. Crap man playing with a chunky is like no other! Hurts so good, I have fond memories of having my fingers hurting after activating the spring loaded diecast landing gear. Its a classic man. I think all Macross fans should at least have one. Thats were it all started. Plus if you want more detail and a modernized toy you can always buy a Yamato but those will be around for a long time so theres no rush. These reissues only come around every now and then. Plus compared to transformable jet robots of today, it still holds up quite well, I'm talking about mass market jet transformers, because at one point, the old takatokus were mass market toys in japan. The durability, pleasant transformation, not too difficult, not too easy, fastest to transform, glossy paint coat...chock full of awesome
  20. Not in the show, in action at least, just in magazines. In episode 14 we see it in the hangar but Ozma isn't using it, just staring at it and talking to Bobby.
  21. I'm sure Bandai will find a way. Besides, Ozma's armor is used a lot in the series, so I expect to see the armor soon.
  22. I am a big fan of the box design. Much more regal and refined than the last reissue boxes. Now, I wonder if the Tamashii /Toynami packaging will be the same just with the Toynami sticker.
  23. I AM ALL ABOUT FREAKING HEAD MASTERS MAN...AND AM ALSO A BIG FAN OF GOD GINRAI
  24. Hell yea man! Those 2 valks just started showing up more. We finally get to see the 171 boys do their thing and maul ass in episode 14, and the 27 is starting to be less elusive now...neither one of these are spoilers btw folks 171 is dead sexy..that battroid mode is awesome.
