The Comic Book thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If the Ultimates universe ends, it will end on a bad note, Ultimates 3 sucks. Ultimates should have been left where it ended in vol2. Comics these days are a different animal than before. With photoshop and other coloring programs readily available there has been a steady rise of computer colorists, and while some of the newbies are in awe of digital color, many times the coloring job ends up looking muddy and obscuring the pencils or inks, which completely defeats the purpose of coloring. Other times the colors tend to be bland and useless, with the colorists merely going for a "HEY LOOK ITS A GRADIENT THATS SO AWESOME" effect. There are great colorists who do well with the computer programs, but by far, there are truly many bad ones too. Another thing that irritates the hell out of me is when a penciler can illustrate well, but can't draw well sequentially, and people say he is the superior comic artist compared to others who are better sequentially, draw well, and have worked on a given title. I am glad that the days of the mid 90's with hackerific artists who cross hatched their pages to oblivion are basically over. There is a huge difference between fine detail, and a complete mess that obscures the entire panel to the point where no one knows what the f&*( you were trying to draw/convey. One thing I do hate though, is how inking is becoming a lost art.- 557 replies

Transformers Super Thread 7
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Actually, the Ultras are significantly bigger than the voyagers in this line, Powerglide is definitely larger than Jetfire by good measure. The detail has gone up too, turbines molded in his intakes, various details in his fighter mode compartments, et al. Its definitely dissapointing. Agreed, but Cyclonus is actually a deluxe. True No prob. My choices are mainly character based/driven, so I would opt for Powerglide, I remember him from G1 and liked him on the cartoon. I have no idea whotf Stormcloud is, other than that he is based on some obscure decepticon micromaster. The neon green on the face throws me off. -
I hope we see more stuff at Wonderfest.

Okay folks, I don't have the new 1/60, but want to buy one eventually(hopefully next month). I have seen the galleries, photo reviews, read the reviews and sifted through many threads about it. I thought it would be a great idea if those of you that own it from here could post a suggestions, photos, guides, and advice on what to do, and what not to do with the new 1/60 over here, with regards to transformation. For example, whats the best way to avoid breaking the shoulders? Whats the easiest way to transform it? How the hell do you get the swing bar out of the crotch section in battroid mode? Basically a transformation guide like the SV-51 guide elsewhere on this same forum. Post links to videos for transformation and what not.

Got a hold of Powerglide, I actually like Hasbro's take on the Classics decos, looks more modernized. Takara's version maybe show accurate but to me it looks boring. Anyways, robot mode does not look as bad as I thought, it all depends on what angle you view it, if you look at it straight ahead, the head does not look so high up, just look at the engines as part of his upper body as opposed to engines. Also, there are hinges that need to be swiveled, and the wings are attached to it as well(its the hinge under the engines in robot mode). LOOSEN THESE UP WITH A SCREWDRIVER. Otherwise the plastic will develop stress marks like on mine. Now that I have loosened the parts, I have no worries. Fighter mode would have looked better without side intakes and knee covers from robot mode. The landing gear make the static display look weird, it angles up to the rear in fighter mode too much. The front gear will not touch the ground if the gun is in place. Overall, decent, best articulation of all the Classics jet transformers so far, but nearly the worst alt mode(worst goes to Tankor). I think the alt mode is okay, but it could have been so much better. The worst thing about the robot mode is that the top fuselage basically just hangs from the back. -
Collectiondx has their report and video up. Basically the 1/55 VF-1D was shown just to see if there was enough interest by the fans, as well as the new heads. If there is enough interest, they will be made, the new heads are for Robotech versions, Ben Dixon is planned, as well as Skull 1 and the "hero valks", and George Sohn wants valks never made before in the scale, like the 1D. It looks like Toynami will bring over whatever Bandai makes for Origin of Valkyrie, but is testing the waters before making their own Robotech versions. So an easy way of looking at it is: Origin of Valkyrie-old heads Robotech-new heads The robotech heads have telescoping necks to make the undercarriage sleeker in fighter mode. Honestly I want both. The Robotech versions can fill in the gaps that Bandai may leave with origin of valkyrie. For example would Bandai even bother making TV VF-1A Max or Kakizaki? I don't care for Kakizaki but I want the 1A Max. Maybe Toynami can make that with the new head. I think Bandai will release the Strike, Elint and Super O. Hopefully Toynami convinces them to make the GP1s. That would leave all the armored valks covered by Bandai, and Toynami could make all the TV valks left. Its confusing though, George Sohn said the Robotech ones with new heads will be made if there is enough interest, but the sign at SDCC said "coming soon".

Star Wars toys
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Wait for the Legacy Grevious, its hard to tell but it does look super articulated. That thing takes up an entire bottom endcap at Target. Heavy too. -
Too small to be MIA, and good god I don't want a predominantly PVC comprised Valkyrie toy! Sagging wings, bent head lasers, yuck!!!! I have a feeling its ABS.

Save for the f%^&*ing WIN man! It could also be to balance out the coverage of the model kit, as the model has gotten most of the attention in the magazines in the past few days. Save, were you able to obtain any information on the 1/100? They seem perfect transformation to me. Also, for those who don't know, the 1/100 VF-25 is not that small, looks great!

Any pics to illustrate the point? Very curious, I don't want to break mine on the first try(if I can even find it that is).

25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The only true way to know is under the covers. More details on the G.I. Joe:Resolute YF-23 Skystriker: -2 seater -RAH Skystriker stripes on the wings(me personally, I think this might look a bit corny, but I haven't seen it yet, maybe I will change my mind after seeing a cell). -chosen because the design team thought it looked cooler, and know it was better than the YF-22. Resolute toys will start hitting in spring, leading up to the movie toys hitting in summer and a lot of vehicles will be released next year, but Hasbro hasn't said or shown which ones yet. By 2010 Hasbro is looking at how to balance toys for the movie, classic(anniversary), and Resolute lines. I predict an Indiana Jones/Star Wars format; same packaging, different inserts, subtitles denoting which era the character/vehicle is from, and all in the same scale/style. -

No new Classics Soundwave planned. First off, I mean come on, does Hasbro really think most collectors that wanted Soundwave, have one? I don't. Secondly, while its cool that the new Ravage fits in G1 Soundwave.....I, and probably most of you, want a new Classics Soundwave, ya know, one that doesn't look out of place with our classics collections and is fully articulated without a huge crotch that the Titanium one had. There is hope if he is repainted in the current costume colors. -
25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The body has been retooled, the wave 8 figure(not sure which was the variant), had retooled hips so that she could sit correctly. I would not be surprised to see that figure repainted into the cartoon, or v1 colors. I think its inevitable. Yes, brand new, and proportioned correctly(no pin head). Oh, and a functional left hand. Thats actually made as an homage to Glenda from Action Force 3-3/4" Marvel Haven't heard anything but considering that she is in the movie next year I think we have a good chance of seeing both her and Classic Ripcord. People seem to think that Classic Ripcord won't be made since movie Ripcord is so different, but this is Hasbro, which LOVES making multiple versions of their characters. -
25th Anniversary GI Joe
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes, long rumored, and kicks the pants off Mattel's newly released DC Infinite Heroes line. Scale is important and emphasized, Wolverine will be shorter than most characters, Hulk is definitely bigger than most, and Galactus and a Sentinel are hinted at. Articulation is on par with the anniversary joes, with some figures having better articulation. Come spring, let the crossovers commence! -

25th Anniversary GI Joe

Reissues are out of the question. Skystriker mold was damaged when returned, and Hasbro said it's unavailable. Night Raven mold was lost in Brazil several years ago. Your best bet is hoping for new molds. The movie Night Raven is said to resemble the classic one a lot, and is rumored for the movie line. That is their way of thinking however with the movie coming the possibility for larger vehicles at mass market is much greater next year. True. The movie is coming next year though, and with Gijoe being one of Hasbro's franchises that they created, the chance for bigger vehicles is greater next year, and retailers are more willing to take risks since the movie line is certain to make money. Surprisingly enough, one of the items that gave retailers faith in bigger items from hasbro, was a giant My Little Pony toy. With that said a new mold skystriker could be bigger than the original, much smaller than the new Millenium Falcon, and certainly cost much less. Hell the old size was good to begin with, I'd love to see a new mold skystriker, I wouldn't expect it to be 1/18 but I'd want it without electronic gimmicks, no gimmicks that could compromise the proportions. Also the Skystriker is iconic, its the Xwing of gijoe, even though its outdated, you can't replace a classic. A X-wing will sell more units than an E-wing. Same applies for the Night Raven, so I hope the rumored one for the movie line is a good replacement for the vintage one. Good question, but I don't think that just because Lift Ticket comes with the Skyhawk means the Tomahawk won't be made. I don't think its likely...most of the vehicles I think are likely for reissue are ones used between 1997-now. Hasbro did get a good number of molds back from overseas in 2004 I believe, but I am not sure if the Tomahawk is one of them, or if it is, if it is in useable condition. BTW the panel reports say vehicles might come out for Resolute leading into the movie line....so God, man I want a YF-23, new mold, no gimmicks that compromise proportions, and significantly bigger than the Storm Eagle. Oh yea, Hasbro also unveiled their 3-3/4" Marvel line yesterday. WAY better than Toybiz' Superhero Showdown. Reports from people that have handled the samples at SDCC say they feel much more sturdier than Superhero Showdown. Detail and sculpts are superior to some of the 6" Marvel Legends...and some of the old Toybiz sculptors have lended their assistance, as well as Gentle Giant. The day when Captain America can kick Duke's ass and lead the joes into battle will come in march. Wolverine and Snake Eyes can finally duke it out to see who is the better written Hama character. Storm Shadow can add the Hand ninjas to his Red Ninja army. -
No, he is just stating the truth. Very true. I wouldn't. From my experience moderating forums(not here, elsewhere), most fans don't know why certain decisions are made, and are quick to cast judgement without ever listening to logic, nor using it, and with most, you can't change their minds even if the company tells them the brutally honest truth. JoshB from collectiondx is meeting with Toynami today, so hopefully he can squeeze out whatever information he can find for upcoming chunkies and hopefully a Frontier release.

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully we see new images.

Any issues with the shoulders and can you describe the best way to dislodge/attach the hip bars from the nose cone during transformation to fighter mode?
