  1. Personally, I think its great, because G.I. Joe has never recieved that much media attention since the 1980's. When joes were brought back to the mainstream in 2002 the marketing was a failure. They weren't advertised much and when they were, they weren't in proper outlets. This is also why a good number of anniversary collectors hadn't had a joe since the 80's, they simply did not know about the 2002/new sculpt line. With all those tie ins next year we will have a ton of toys, even more so than this year. Hopefully retail will finally wake up and realize its a viable brand. The irony being that high sales from the movie line paves the way for larger vehicles and even more figures for the classic line, but sadly enough, many fans don't want to believe it. Resolute sounds awesome and I am excited for the toys. Animation looks great but I don't like how Roadblock looks like he just stepped out of Tekkon Kinokreet.
  2. I think its a ratchet in the chest that softly locks into place, it can be dislodged easily. Jazz has him beat for posing, he just can't shrug/hunch his shoulders like Prime, but everywhere else, he has him beat.
  3. The transformation is straightforward and I wish it had some automorph involved, it also doesn't lock together in robot mode very securely, which is rather unfortunate(chest piece). The articulation and alternate weapons configurations do it for me, as well as the sleek car mode and the fact that its size in car mode is no indicator of how tall the robot mode ends up being. He can have his nunchuks remain stationary and swiveled around to be form claws, or just use them as regular nunchuks. The light piping works very well. Articulation is one of the reasons I love Cybertronian Prime so much but this guy actually has him beat. There aren't many figures in this line that can bend at the knee nearly at 180 degrees, but Jazz is one of them. The sculpt is one of the more accurate ones, definitely more accurate than deluxe Bumblebee's is to his animation counterpart. Articulation is important to me on these Animated figures. Its the reason I was dissapointed with Voyager Prime and Lockdown. Lockdown to me, is overrated. Great sculpt/personality, and alt mode, but leg articulation at the knee sucks. Jazz trumps him completely in the articulation category. Jazz is a cybertronian ninja and can definitely be posed as one. That is awesome.
  4. Man that 1D is a beaut, I don't care if the canopy is inaccurate, it looks more realistic to me, love it! All vibrant with that cream and orange paint scheme...plus TV/episode accurate with Hik and Minmay...damn..this is one fine piece of machinery. I want to see MORE!
  5. That video makes the transformation for that area look very easy. I hope this is the case on everyone's sample with the technique shown in that video.
  6. Its there in fighter mode to the left. Damn it, I the best thing I could come up with for the Yamato display, was a link to some "moe block", a transforming green mechanical block that turns into a monster look alike, flying brick, and something else. I hope Noel, Save, or Howard got pics.
  7. What I really want to know, is if the Robotech VF-1 chunkytechs are even coming out or not. The new head=cool. Telescoping neck=uhm...yeah....nice...well better than light up eyes...okay cool. Release? What George Sohn says leads one to believe that maybe these won't come out. It certainly did not help Toynami, that there was barely anything showing for the 1/55. The main reaction that weekend was "OMG DUDE LOOK A CHUNKY 1D.....OH MAN....THAT WAS ONLY SHOWN IN THE TAKATOKU PROMO PICS...AND INSERT CATALOG...OH MAN....KICK ASS....". We find hope that it might be released by seeing the placard that says "coming soon". Then George Sohn goes on camera and says their release is all dependent on demand. The 1/55 VF-1D is definitely a fan favorite, but to shove it in the dark corner of the display, and let all the 1/100s get the attention? So truly, which one is it? Are we getting the chunkytechs or not? I for one, am more interested in seeing the chunkytechs than the 1/100. Besides I wouldn't be surprised if Origin of Valkyrie ends up having the DYRL armor trio in the line(Strike, ELINT, SuperO), I see the Robotech 1/55 chunkies with new heads as valks to fill in the gaps for the TV series valks. So come on Toynami, this is a chance to fill in the gaps, not overlap over Bandai, and give fans the best of both worlds. All we need is a straight answer, yes or no.
  8. Okay so we have seen glimpses of Bandai's Tamashii robot line, now where the hell are the pics of the DX and 1/100 VF-25s?
  9. I wonder if Prowl is more articulated than Jazz. Jazz is one of my favorite deluxes in animated....hell...maybe even better than Cybertronian Optimus Prime. The articulation is better, dynamic poses are extremely easy to replicate, the alt mode is awesome, and the weapons can be configured unofficially into claws. The alt mode is sleek and like Lockdown, does not give the impression that the robot mode is much larger. Jazz is the most likeable of the Elite Guard to me, he is not condescending like Ultra Magnus, and not a prick like Sentinel. He is more open to what Earth has to offer than Prowl it seems. Oil Slick is the 3rd Circuit su practicioner in Animated, I wonder if he is better than Prowl, the bio says they trained together.
  10. Noel(BlackAces) usually goes, I wonder if he went this time around. He usually does a photo/info comprehensive report for Macrossworld a couple days after Wonderfest is over.
  11. No, they are planned to be used on Toynami's Robotech versions of the 1/55 if there is enough demand for them. I think Toynami needs to hype those more, the showing at SDCC was minimal, and a lot of people didn't even notice the VF-1D in the galleries.
  12. Thing is, the usual suspect for first release are all the same in deco, just different heads and trim(skull squadron for DYRL). To me, that gets boring quick. Sure there are significant appearances by them in DYRL, Roy's being most important, Hikaru's Strike memorable towards the end, Max's Skull 1 being more significant than his 1A in the beginning of DYRL, and Hikaru's 1A for disobeying Misa and saving Minmay. Yet if one were to compare these character's valkyries in DYRL to their TV counterparts, their TV versions look more unique, and they did more in them than in DYRL(except for Roy). In some respect DYRL has the more realistic aspect going for it, in that all of them are part of the same squadron and each valkyrie has minimal difference per character, usually just trim changes. I'd agree with your theory if the Super O, and Elint were released first, but almost always the first release is a DYRL skull squadron VF-1, whether Roy's skull 1, or Hikaru's Skull 11.
  13. I think so, Bandai, Hasegawa, and Yamato releases tend to be DYRL-centric during the launch of each line. Everytime a Macross flashback is in a new Macross anime, its usually DYRL-esque. When Yamato launched their first 1/60 line, and later their 1/48 line, their first 3 releases were the Skull trio from DYRL. Even b!tch ass Kakizaki's valk got made...OVER MAX'S TV TYPE VF-1A. A VALK WITH MORE COMBAT SIGNIFICANCE? It puzzles me, but yes I think our japanese brothers love DYRL. I hope we see more pics.....this is irritating not finding much coverage.
  14. Yes for their Robotech versions, which George Sohn said will be made if there is enough demand/sales, but the display at SDCC right below the heads stated "coming soon".
  15. Now that is lovely, .....I want to see the VF-1D now! Speaking of which, the japanese fanbase must love DYRL because Bandai and Yamato always have DYRL valks released near the beginning or in the beginning of each line. Kawamori, Big West, or Satelight must love DYRL too because of the references to it in Zero, Macross 7, and Frontier also...hell...you don't see one glimpse of Hikaru's VF-1J in frontier, but his skull 11 VF-1A is on top of Alto's school building. I hope Yamato gives the tv series more love and releases a non exclusive TV VF-1A Max type for the new 1/60 line.
  16. Been sifting through wonderfest threads on other forums, haven't found anything yet.
  17. Agreed. Brubaker took what everyone thought would suck(me included) and made it work, and it worked damn well. Brubaker took a shi^&8tty idea and turned it into gold, there aren't many writers that can do that. As for Ultimates, vol3 sucks and Loeb is hinting at merging the Ultimates into 616. Good riddens, his Ultimates vol3 feels more 616 than Ultimates, Ultimates should have ended with Millar's vol2. The main Wolverine book has been alright, the Origins book however, I stopped reading that one once Way brought in Daken, son of Wolverine. Daken sucks. He is basically Emo-rine mad about being shunned from his adopted family. He looks like that bounty hunter with a lawn dart in her head from Star Wars and X-23's long lost triplet brother. Origins was great until Daken was introduced.
  18. Wait does jenius have a review up or did the guy just confuse him for Graham? I've been anticipating jenius' review but haven't seen it on his site, the last review there was the GNU 19.
  19. Its to replicate what the VF-1 is able to do in the anime. In episode 3 of SDF Macross, the VF-1D that Hikaru flew is damaged severely, and Focker detaches the cockpit section of the VF-1D from the airframe, and mounts it underneath his VF-1S' arm. The head is removable so you can grab the piece near the chest plate to assist in removing that section. He meant the randome, which is the nose cone itself, not the cockpit section. Considering that the Strike bundle is already sold out in japan and that there are already a good number of pictures comparing the 1/48 to the new 1/60, I don't think it would have made a difference. Plus the guy just went on vacation, maybe he didn't have time to take the pics?
  20. When they make a VF-19S targeted towards collectors, I will be satisfied. With that said, VF-3000 FTW.
  21. They did, same articulation as the 4H's DCUC figures. -ball jointed neck -hinged ankles, elbows, knees and abs -bicep and thigh swivels. -ball jointed shoulders, 4H universal movement t crotch hips.
  22. They did but the line was full of He man and Skeletor repaints. Cartoon was great, figures were great, until the later waves. And instead of going through retail where some of the characters planned would have no chance in hell selling, Mattel is going directly to collectors via their collector site. Price is $19.99, limit 3 figures per household but this may change depending on how many initial orders there are on the first figures go on sale. Skeletor, Beast Man, Zodac, Mer Man and a few others are confirmed. Anyone that showed up in the 2002 cartoon can be made, only filmation characters that did not show up anywhere outside the original cartoon cannot be made.
  23. YES, with bicep swivels, universal hip joints, thigh swivels, better disguise for fighter mode form underneath and a more fighter-like canopy. Hell maybe even the cockpit/nose styled after G2 Jetfire. That would be awesome.
  24. I want to know what Bandai was hiding on their blog...that teaser thing were they covered up what could be a VF-19 photo.... 1/100 line will be more affordable so if its perfect transformation I will pick up more of those, and for the DX's I will just pick up my favorites. Agreed.
