Hasegawa 1/72 scale VF-1A Roll Out Colors
PetarB replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Model kits
While it's great to see Hasegawa continue their Macross releases, I would love to see some new tooling, like a VF-11 for example. -
Well that just looks awesome. Funny how you left a bit of sheen to it... I've kind of decided to do the same on my VF2SS. The problem is they don't seem to photograph as well as matt finishes. Never mind, your Ostrich looks really cool and now I want one! Does the Hasegawa have the same type of big exhaust cans at the back? I haven't seen ones like those before on any Valk build I've seen. Sean has kindly agreed to let me post some pics of the build at Studio Starforge later next week.

There have been a couple, but they have only been limited and rare resin kits, and are now quite expensive. So I'm afraid you're out of luck! The 1/72 may be small, but in many cases they are packed with a lot more detail than the toys. I suggest you grab an easy kit, put it together and see how you enjoy the experience. There's a lot out there, enojy!

Looks like we wont see an update for few days then. Anyway, awesome work, and looking forwards to the next updates!

To be honest I see nothing wrong with bumping old posts, especially interesting ones like this.

She looks very cool with the orange helmet and flightsuit! Actually this is the first time I've seen her with paint on. Thanks Sean. I cannot wait to see this one finished, the Macross world needs more trainers, in my opinion!

1/72 Bandai VF-25F Messiah build-up step-by-step (sort of)

....and he's back. Beautiful work. I'm also interested in your Alclad technique. And if you didn't apply direct to plastic, was it straight to primer? -
One of the better VF-25 Alto's I've seen, very very nice!
-
Obscure? I beg to differ! This was one of the highlights of my viewing as a kid growing up in Australia, my friends and I loved this show and had no idea it was available on DVD. "DVD GET!"

Amazing work, so glad to see this finished. Nice and clean, yet well weathered at the same time. Beautiful!

Wow, all great work here. I love this thread, so many interesting builds. HWK MKII I love that monster, looks finished to me, but interested in where you go from here. More posts from everyone please...

I suggest you pre-order on the link below, the only place to now sell them. http://www.starshipmodeler.biz/index.cfm?f...;Product_ID=622 Get one if you can! I've only seen a couple of build ups of this but they all look great. You can see mine here... http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25896 Good luck!

C'mon...! I will be happy to see any other modeling displays, I'm bringing mine in the hope that it will get more people to bring theirs. Of course, now I have to work out how to pack them. And I simply HAVE to finish up my display stand for the atmospheric booster beforehand... Anyway, I will probably drive up so packing might not be such an issue. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to drive from the Gold Coast to Brisbane? I might drop by and see a friend on the way up.

Prometheum5, that's Golden Demon award material right there, amazing work!

I've been reading the VF-25 big thread with interest - the next challenge will be tinting the canopy a deep blue without sacrificing transparency, a challenge to be sure. On the subject of canopies, everyone's who's expressed an interest, I will make a new thread by the end of the month with details.

These guys should be ready to purchase end of January - I need to finalise a couple of sculpts - working on Hikaru with his helmet in hand at the moment. Then I will cast a bit of inventory before I offer them for sale. Sorry for the wait, hope to have final master pics sometime next week.

Progressing slowly! In anycase, here's where I'm up to. Just about all decals I will use are on. I assembled a few pieces temporarily for this. You can see in the first picture, I thinned the Tamiya hand-painted acrylic too much and it cracked in the drying on the grey intake areas. Still, it will be an easy fix and I will let it dry for a day before I give it the final clear coat prior to a light wash, where the recessed panels, etc will pop out a bit. I haven'tcolour corrected any of these... the blue/grey colour seems to vary dramatically, depending on the light and angle to the camera. Grimmace, I would love to see yours, you should post pics. Thanks for looking!

I'm too chicken to start mine, after looking at this! Still, impressive to see you mask around circles - that's hard, and by hard I mean very, very difficult to do correctly! Nice to see a bit of progress, looking forwards to seeing more. -
Really looking forwards to getting mine. Also, as Kylwell says, instructions are for sissies!

Thanks so much for those scans. If I had seen them earlier this may we have turned out quite a bit different. Anyway, looks like I'm going quite 'off scheme now' - I've completed all the painting, and it's really a bit late at this stage to lighten everything up to the scans that were kindly put up. Saved them to my resources folder though... perhaps they will inspire someone else to do a build up of this and stick closer to canon? I was thinking of just doing a military grey on this earlier, but will leave that for an eventual VF-22 build up one day. Thanks for everyone's comments. Been away for the past week, but should get back to workbench on the weekend.
-
Really? I never knew, I just assumed that everything was on the MacrossWorld website. I would have loved to see them! Unfortunately I've now finished all painting and most of the decals. Would you mind posting scans here if possible? It would be great to take a look-see!
-
Well that cockpit is certainly a bit different from the Hasegawas in some way. I was going to suggest just running the base of the pilot over some sandpaper, which might remove some height, but perhaps the elbows might get in the way... In anycase, you're making good progress and I look forwards to the next update!

Some more comments I missed. The acetate canopy is quite stiff, but you can squeeze it with your fingers and it immediately pops back into shape. The actual geometry (lofted arches) also gives structural strength. Ah Electric Indigo, I always like seeing aircraft from you. Come one and build one! I think I went too light, and I will probably end up going 'off-scheme' anyway! Thanks for everyone's kind words.
