I love the simplicity of those instructions! Looks like someone drew and wrote them up in about 10 minutes!

I saw that pic in the other thread. I love the weathering on that choppa! Going to be hard to replicate at this scale, but I will see what I can do....! Any tips? An oils wash is probably a good start, or perhaps I may try a pastel wash instead...

So I took a look at the gatling gun I built and decided it wasn't good enough. I built another one out of injection needles and some sheets of epoxy putty. The other one I made (pics earlier on) was made with brass tubing, and it just didn't look to scale. Neither does this new one, but its a bit closer! Huge caliber though... Then, after an undercoat of Tamiya Sky Grey, I masked the whole thing to give a subtle camo effect. I saw a modern assault copter in a subtle grey-on-grey scheme that I really liked which I am trying to emulate. So after an hour or two masking the whole thing with tiny bits of Tamiya masking tape (haven't found a cheaper substitute despite my experiments) I put a coat of Royal Grey over it. I was happy with the result. In the pic here the contrast is a bit exaggerated because one is finish is completely dry, and the other only half an hour old. Since that pic I have put on a coat of Pledge One-Go ('Future' to the norte-americanos). I'm about to start putting on the decals. There's a little bit more masking to do, but I will tackle that later. Come on, how are those other builds going? I meant to be taking this one one a plane - complete and finished - with me by the end of the week. I could use some inspiration and motivation!!!

What an odd release! I mean, I like - love - the subject, but in 1/60? Model builders tend to like similar scales for comparison, like 1/72, 1/48, 1/32 etc. This seems to fit better with Yamato's Toy line than anything else. Perhaps they didn't have quite the budget to release it as a prepainted and assembled toy...

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

Wow, that Ranka-pac really looks gosu! I'd love one... Is this commercially available? Or is this a good one-off? -
Hmmm.... I brass pinned the weapon pylons and the aft fins but not the tail section. I wonder if I should... now I'm worried. Any one else suggest cutting and pinning the tail boom?

Wow, I like that!

Haven't had much of chance to work in this, but had a good go this weekend. I've replaced the back rotor with a scratchbuilt one. I didn't like the Hind ones supplied with the kit, aesthetically I wanted something to go with the curves of the hull and some blades from the moder 'Tiger' eurocopter fit the bill perfectly for me. They are attached here temporarily with blu-tac for photography. I put in some figures to pilot, and gave the interior bits and pieces some Alclad Duraluminium to give them a bit of shine. Once they go behind the cockpit canopies you wont see them as much. Next I will put the canopies on and seal them on, mask them up, and that's the last time we will see the interiors until it's finished! Now come on, where's everyone else's?

Here's my build-up. I used a mix of Tamiya colours for the blue - medium blue, blue and white. Sorry, I can't remember the ratios.

Wow, this came out really well. Beautiful work Destroid!

Amazingly cool news, but WHERE THE HELL IS MY 1/72 VF-11 Hasegawa?
-
My 5yr old daughter's first model was a Bandai VF-11. She liked it because it was pink and white, but painted it with Tamiya acrylics in a navy blue colour! She wanted to help me put together my Finemolds Millenium Falcon, and I let her and my 7yr old daughter put together the stand. They thought that was pretty cool. Of course my 2yr old daughter wanted to get in on the act too, but that's just asking for trouble. Now they want a Minmei doll.

I did a bit of work on this over the weekend, probably not worth pics at this stage yet though. Now come on, where are the other builds? I'd love to see some more people post...

I'm in a similar situation. HLJ has got quite a bit of business out of me for a long time now. With most online vendors, they offer discounts for repeat business, or some other incentives. It would be a good idea if HLJ thought about this. They have a wonderful website with all their products very well documented, but I am looking for other sources.
