I agree, it looks like a lot of fun, even if this trailer has a very serious tone! But I did enjoy 'Wanted' which was by the same film maker, so I'm sure I'll be in the cinema for this one.

Macross related items on WonderFestival 2012 Winter (JAPAN)
PetarB replied to ahiachris's topic in Model kits
Ah, it's the annual 'here all the cool stuff you're not allowed to buy' thread. Thanks for the link, ahiachris! -
I agree. I must admit, I'm a little surprised at the polarisation this design causes, but not everybody likes everything! I guess the world would be a boring place if we did.

? A 'zero-g' opimized design outside of an atmosphere looks like a brick. Or a sphere. Or any shape - it doesn't matter.

It looks like a lot of fun. I remember seeing the first bits of concept footage for this, so many years ago now. Fantastic they finally got it made - and I hope it pays off for the team.

Thanks. I think. In fact I mixed lots of shades of blue for this.

Can you imagine the pitch to Hollywood execs for that one Graham? "Yeah, so our hero, he's this pasty white albino with a huge chip on his shoulder, in love with his cousin, and his sword drinks souls. Oh, and he's a drug addict." "But he's cool, right?" "Not really." "He's the straight man in a twisted world?" "Er, no - kind of the other way around really." "Is there some sort of redemption arc to the story? You know, ending on a positive note, where he changes the world for the better?" "Ah... no. Definitely not." "NEXT!" Needless to say, I would love to see an Elric series. I think a mini series might work well, as long as it had a huge budget. And it would tell the full story of Stormbringer.

Some great work there Kurisama. Are pics one and two an original design?

Wow, I've never seen one of those built up! The second last pic of the Regult with Misa and the 'forced perspective' reminds us how big these guys are meant the be. You got great glossy finishes on the transparent domes. Nice work.

A future kitbash base for an ARMD carrier? = 3 foot Helicarrier
PetarB replied to GMANIFESS's topic in The Workshop!
I think it would be easier to start from scratch to be honest. The shape of the ARMD isn't that complex anyway... -
Oh wow, awesome collection. I'm also a huge fan of boxart. In fact the original Macross model boxart was what attracted me to the whole genre! Every model box which has good boxart I carefully trim out, laminate, and use to help decorate the den. The larger the box the better... Thanks Shawn

Keith David is awesome - he always puts a smile on my face! Tricia Helfer gives me happy pants. However I was a little underwhelmed by ME2 - for all my fond memories of it. I might pick up ME3 when the price gets a little discounted.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
PetarB replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Everyone's tastes are different. I'm a lifelong Studio Ghibli fan, since the release of Nausicaa, and on reflection I think Laputa happens to be my favourite Miyazaki movie. I saw Arrietty recently, and am sad to say that it would have to be my least favourite, since I enjoyed Ponyo so much. From an art direction perspective, Ponyo was simply wonderful, even if the story was more directed at children. I really hope Miyazaki returns to some more adult fare before he really retires. -
I loved Crank. And I loved Crank 2 even more. They were so absolutely crazy and fun, it was hard for me not to have a good time watching them.

Excellent attitude. I have the box of this currently open on my desk! I've even started assembly...

Perhaps the larger scale does not fit well into the smaller Japanese living spaces. It would be very nice to hear from someone at Hasegawa on whether to expect any more 1/48 Macross kits....

As a design, I much perfer the Ikazuchi's big brother, the Izumo... but I know this one is going to look awesome as well!

Has anyone seen Flying Swords of Dragon Gate yet? I've heard it's quite good, but would be happy to hear a review from the hoi polloi.

redsun, I have to agree with you. Seeing these guys in wild is a very frightening experience, I can tell you. During the late 1700s, France was beseiged by wolves - some in particular , the Beast of Gevaudan, are well known. I'm looking forward to seeing The Grey. As for Underworld, I quite enjoyed the first movie, although cringed at some of the poorly shot action. The others weren't so great, but I will probably see this.

"Rinne no LAGRANGE": Coming in Jan 2012.
PetarB replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think the mecha designs are quite refreshing and modern actually. The don't look 'organic' to me... just making nice use of curves. -
It is indeed. One the the reasons I'm building the Flapter, actually. Laputa is probably my favourite animation movie... ever.
