That's not a bad idea. I might start gathering some links together.

Well, it's actually quite possible this is what happened. CNC subtractive printing - routing all the wood away from a block, is quite established technology. In fact the more I think about it, the more certain I am that this is what's going on here....

Starship Troopers: Invasion - New SST Anime
PetarB replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not quite the 'apes' that I envisioned from the book, but good enough. But there looks like a larger exoskeleton there that certainly does look more 'ape' like. Now, on the BOUNCE!- 121 replies

This is not Japan... I have a feeling Tokyo's in for a bit of a hammering in this movie. More at Collider. Wish we could see some hardware pics!

It's more modelling general knowledge. Just take a look at some Hasegawa and Bandai build-alongs like WMCheng's and you'll pick up a lot of info, in case this doesn't get pinned.

Absolutely! very nice. Also... does anyone have a larger size of this image?
-
That's very reminiscent of the original ARII box art, which made fall in love with Macross all those years ago. Nicely done!

Actually it's not an industry at all that you get into to make money, many garage kit producers tend to forget this. The numbers just aren't there! Anyway, looking forward to the first physical prototype!

Tamiya weathering sets are surprisingly fantastic. However I didn't use one set for around 18months, and it's no longer usable - it went all hard, or crumbled or something, I forget the outcome I just remember being annoyed. Still, recommended.

Okay, so I'm at this point and I can tell you that you will have to drill a hole. How would you go about it? I should be in a position to show you later in the week...!

Yes, I think some of them are a great 'stepping off' zone for movie making. However, I wish we'd have some more SF movies from more modern writers like Vernor Vinge or Richard K Morgan. I can very, very easily imagine A Fire Upon the Deep as a blockbuster movie (the budget would be huge) or an SF noire Morgan's Altered Carbon, which I believe Spielberg already has the rights for.

I enjoyed the original, but it's hardly what I'd call a 'classic'. And as it happens I have read most of PKD's short stories, and I can tell you 'We can remember it for you wholesale' was VERY different both in plot and tone to Total Recall. Paul Verhoeven makes his own movies and we call all be grateful for that. This new movie looks like it's probably going to be a fun time at the theatre and that's all we can ask really. Looking forward to it!

The last chapter? I completely agree. It has an odd tone with respect to the rest of the book and added not much at all, for me at any rate.

My favourite Macross iteration is 'Plus' - It really created a new 'adult' version of the series, and took it to a new level. Then Frontier, then DYRL, then SDF Macross and so on from there are my favourites. Am I a heretic?

WOW! Can't wait to see the rest. Looks like it's going to be a stunner. That cockpit's arrangement just screams out for some detailing, with the exposed areas.
-
Wow. I'm actually right up to this point too - but I think I'm going to finish mine before yours it sounds like. I'm actually planning to do this tonight, so I'll report back and let you know how it goes. I'm using both this PE sheet and elements from the Hasegawa one. Nutty, I know, but I haven't built a VF-1 for the longest time, so I thought 'lets go all out!'

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
PetarB replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There are plenty of Studio Scale (1/20 etc) resin kits out there for Star Wars and to be honest - the market is flooded there. However many people don't have room for larger kits to display. Also smaller kits are a challenge unto themselves. I won't buy a kit in a scale larger than 1/72 these days. I prefer them all to be of the same scale and I enjoy the challenge of building smaller scale. -
Its nothing to do with The Island, which I quite liked, or Logan's Run either (which I also liked!). Not sure why there are comparisons there. But it's not a bad movie. Just not 'great'. I enjoyed it.

Sparrow SA has made some amazing scratchbuilds of some of these. I seem to remember one of the more recent may be the Morrigan above.

I saw it - and it was good. Not great, but good. The camera work, however, is appalling. The acting in contrast is great - especially Jennifer Lawrence, and the young baker fellow.

If anyone's into Star Wars 1/72 scale models, you might be interested in this. -
I wonder what Mr Mos-cah-toh! will bring us Macross fans next?
-
Wow that looks awesome! As for me, I'm busy casting up and packing kits at the moment... Hopefully I will get a chance to do some 'me' modeling again soon. I've been working on a couple of projects that I know Macross fans like me will love.

I remember reading TMNT when it first came out (original Eastman and Laird comic). The cool thing about the turtles were that they weren't 'good guys'. . . they were just trying to survive in a universe where bizzare things happened, and they had badass enemies like The Foot. And let's not even talk about Casey Jones insanity. Every single iteration of TMNT that has come out subsequently - movies, tv series etc - has really disappointed me, and never captured who the brothers were in the comic.
