Hey Derex, The fact that the mask removed the paint/primer all the way down to the plastic (and its localized to the same problem spot) may indicate the resin as the culprit. If you don't want to do major surgery and decide to repeat the steps, try to take down some of the tack on the masking tape you're using and apply it to a piece of fabric (I use my jeans) before applying it to the model. This might help some..

Why does the feet of the SV-51 look so close in design to the VF-27?
Ahab replied to YF-29 Durandal's topic in Toys
I don't think Kawamori is all that concerned about continuity in the Macross Universe ( in terms of design). It seems to me that he regards SDF Macross the way George Lucas regards the Original Star Wars Trilogy. Thsy are both drawing from the now in terms of new content and aesthetics. That's why Macross Zero looks out of place next to SDF Macross. Otherwise the designers of Macross Zero would need to put themselves in the mindset of military designers from the 50's, 60's and 70's to envision what a progressive design of the late 1990's would look like... IMO, a more retro look would have added a unique visual interest to the series. -
What it may be..and I hope it's not... is the casting itself. Sometimes, during the mixing of the PU resin, If the A and B parts aren't mixed thoroughly, cavities of uncured resin can find itself in and on the surface. Years ago when I first began molding and casting, I came across this issue once. I washed the hell out of the piece with no success. I ended up dremelling out the problem spot and filling it with bondo and rescribed. the details. Good luck, man. -Ahab *I just re-read your post (#2034). Are you running into this problem often (on other kits), or is it that particular spot on the model?

Most of it was sanded completely smooth (with the exception of the verticle supports which I left rough to simulate re-sawn lumber. The entire piece was then detailed with a rigid wire sculpting tool to create the wood grain. The bare wood was then sprayed with an earthy orange laquer followed by acrylic washes and satin top coat. -ahab

I built this Wing Tsun prop for a client who's making a series of short films (stop motion) in 1/6 scale. I know its not entirely on topic, but thanks for lookin! -Ahab

Welcome, River! I love seeing pictures of collections, but it's nice to see a valk on its own every so often.

Yep, 1/10. I'm working on Jim figure (civilian and military) as a companion piece. I'll be posting progress in my old thread build-up.

My wife and I are both artists, consequently our house and property is filled with sculptures, paintings and creative clutter. My toy collection pretty much blends into the surroundings. A while back, we hosted a figure drawing event in our home/studio where we had a nude model/acrobat suspended from the ceiling. I've never seen people less interested in my Valk collection...

And this thing is (at least) six months away... Can you imagine how "the glass is half empty" folks are going to sound by that time?! I think I'll check back in next year!

So far, so good! Welcome to the forums! Looking forward to your progress.

This thread reminds me of the stock market, say 6 or 7 years ago... Seems like whenever world conflicts weren't going according to plan, or if Paris Hilton showed her privates in public, the price of gas went through the roof.

Great link, nghia59! I wouldn't of thought there'd be such a range of colors available for gun finishes. ( see the Duracoat color matching charts on the site)

Agreed. A proper Virgin Road would be nice..Vf-1D body with a 1A head.

It's great to see that the line looks like it will continue, but that is one gnarly looking bird! It'd be nice if Arcadia chimed in with a VF-4 release to reassure the collector base. Plus I'd like to have one without shelling out $800+.

I was told that my email was saved and would be contacted before December and that updates will be posted. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Missed out on the Yamato's.... -Ahab
