    Back on topic, I'm not really worried about swine flu and normal flu medicines are just as effective at treating it. I usually recover from the normal flu in about 2 to 3 days, so if swine flu is anything simailar i'm not worried. The news over hype it with death rates and infection rates, which is considerably low out of a world population of billions. I'm really angry at the media here, ever since those 2 scottish people returned from mexico they are treated like celebritys by the papers here. So buying models or toys from overseas is not a problem for me and if i do open a parcel with swine flu in it, then i'm just unlucky

    Looks great. I think these ones may be better than alters in terms of price. Painting ain't so bad as long as its not difficult and its at 1/48 scale which is a much better size, about the size of a MG gundam kit, i feel alters 1/60 is too over priced for something so small when other figures with the same kind of size and detail is way cheaper.

    Lets not forget the cool starwars mechas like the AT AT etc.......Any vehicle that has limbs classes as a robot or mech to me. The west are use to having super heroes and the east are use to robots. Just look at video games, robot games don't do well in the west as they do in the east, the same with shows. Its all about pop culture, the more popular a genre the more widely accepted it becomes which in turn would influence peoples opinnions and perceptions.

    In both east and west there is good and bad robots. Good robots vs bad robots like transformers etc....... I don't think its that big a difference, but if we look at dragons, in the west they are bad, but in the east they are good.

    If we exclude the butchering, then it probably would have stood a chance, but since robotech is popular in the west and there is a fanbase that are now fully grown adults, the same could have happened if it was gundam instead.

    Gundam should try and move away from amuro and char type characters, at least in UC shows as its getting tiresome. I suppose they can get away with it in AU shows as they are intended to attract a new audience who haven't seen UC before. The core fanbase for gundam are not small children anymore and are looking for new ideas, not recycled ones. Its too late to try and get such a fanbase in the west cos gundam is just too old so it can't compete with the new stuff, only the new AUs have a chance which is a real shame for us old fans. If gundam had come to the west earlier like macross (robotech) did then it may have stood a good chance.

    Yeah, gundam to me is mainly about Char and Amuro or the Zeon/Earth conflicts and it's factions, without them, gundam is nothing. Sure the show is named after the robot, but its the characters and story that makes it stand out more than the other robot shows that have come and gone. I beleive the old shows have really struck a great balance between robot and character development, while most shows they just concentrate on the robot and its gimmicks. I wouldn't mind if they made side stories during the oyw to cca era as it would expand the universe further. Although oyw is over done, they still come up with some great stuff like igloo. imo victory is one of the best gundam shows out there, making shows/stories beyond cca is a added bonus for me and again also expands the universe, but what i don't like is some of them always have to have a Char type character whether it be a clone or some guy in a mask. Char died, they should quit trying to bring him back. Unicorn, i would like to read or see if they make an anime, but hearing that a character like char is in it, really ruins it a little.

    When?, I'm talking about First Gundam TV series, but i'm from the UK where it was never released at all, I'm just thinking of the USA mostly. If votoms, patlabor etc can be released without the big marketing, then so can gundam, bandai just went all out and failed. If they introduced UC slowly, the fan base would eventaully build up, even if it takes years.

    I understand most of the endings, its just that the first time watching them left me disappointed and i still have that same feeling even though i have a better understanding of it. I'm just hoping these knew movies won't give me that feeling if you know what i mean.

    I think Bandai tried to make gundam BIG in the west too fast instead of introducing it slowly, they jumped straight in hoping to make a big success. Instead of releasing it on video first they went straight to TV instead. If they release an old show like gundam like the way other companies have done with votoms and patlabor, it would have been better. Bandai hoped they can achieve big success in a short time, when in reallity the success they have in the east took many years to achieve.

    The trailers looks great, really looking forward to these new movies. They say they're gonna have alternate ending or a better explanation for the the story than in the TV series. Its been years since i've seen eva and i'm still confused at what the hell happened at the end and in the old movies. It was such a mind trip that left me really confused and depressed at times.

    Having known only UC gundam for most of my life, when Wing came to the west I was totally confused, I was wondering why the characters/mecha were all different from what i've seen before. I didn't know there was such things as a Alternate Universe genre at the time. tbh i was shocked that they made such shows and didn't know what to think. I avoid alternate shows like the plague, but i know thats unfair as i'm judging shows which i haven't seen at all. Turn A being the only AU i've seen and that was an awsome show, but i still can't bring my self to watch G, Wing, Seed, 00, X.............. Theres just too much of it and the direction in which these shows are going is a real put off, theres just too much pretty boys, emos, girly boys and way too much fan service compared to the UC shows. Fanservice is fine, but when they over do it it ruins the characters in a show, having big breasted characters or really short skirts dosen't really make me want to take that character seriously. If Emma Sheen had really big knockers and they took every chance to bounce them and include panty shots alot of the time, I don't think i would have that much respect for that character. The same can be said for all these pretty/girly boys found in Wing etc...... They don't come across as charaters I would care about.

    I'm from the UK, but never seen robotech, though i've since learned it was shown on satelite tv here, which i didn't have. I first got in to macross when a relative visiting from Hong Kong told me about it and promised to get me a model kit the next time he came to visit, but he got me a gundam kit instead (1/ 60 Zeta Gundam), so Macross always comes second to Gundam for me. Edit:- oh, that was back in 1990 btw

    The game it self was like a anime. So making a anime out of an "anime" was kind of strange but very welcome. I'll be watching this show, maybe only for the tanks though

    I was annoyed too, when i bought a set of 5 figures, only to find out you don't get all the parts for the landmate But i found out later in the Hot Toys website that if you buy a full case of 10 figures, your guaranteed to get all the parts of the land mate.

    Also nobody is telling the fans to like or watch the movies, they don't have to. If they see Lucas or whoever as some kind of god then i think thats gone too far. Sure dressing up as characters is funny, but once they take it too serious and let it run their lives its very disturbing. I would say i'm a big Gundam fan but i don't see tomino as a god but a good director, the same should go for Lucas and co, except i think lucas is crap

    I was very disapointed with the new starwars movies, in fact i find all the SW movies a bit crap now except for empire. Its not because Lucas "raped my child hood" or anything, but because i'm older now. I don't expect franchises to last forever, like all franchises there will always be crap parts to it, like Aliens, Terminator, Star trek, Macross, Gundam .............etc. All i have to do is not watch the crap parts at all, its that simple, these people who go making documentries and songs about it are just sad, they should be thankful thats such movies/franchises were created.

    I would say the same too about 1/100, but i suppose the main reason is that i like all my models to be in the same scale. If my First Zaku II was a HGUC 1/144 instaed of MG, then i guess the rest of my collection would have been that size too.

    I'm a 1/100 man too, my collection consist mainly of MG kits, I've been collecting since i was a kid so my collection is kind of large, I think i've got about 35 to 40 MG kits. I haven't really bought any new MG kits in 3 years or so now. My first MG was a Zaku II I got when I was 13, but my first ever gundam model was a 1/60 ZETA Gundam i got when i was 10 from a relative in Hong Kong who came to visit. I suppose its his fault that i'm Gundam mad I would probably take pictures but i'm lazy and theres a lot of dust on them, so maybe a clean up first before any pictures

    Dosen't really look all that different from the previous GOWs in terms of gameplay, but what really made the games fun for me was the story and the fact that the main character is so angry all the time

    I watched G Saviour too , after seeing that I thought it would be impossible to ever make mobile suits look more realistic using computer, but then we have Igloo which seem to have made a great job at it. I also once considered watching some alternate shows, but there are just too many to keep track of, and once I see some of the character designs they don't really appeal to me. . Too many emo/pretty boys in them

    I've never seen, Wing, Seed, G, X, 00...... all the alternate universe shows except for Turn A, but only because it was made by Tomino

    Just the HDMI output for some motherboards just don't play certain sound formats. If the sound in the MKV is compressed in to something else it may not be able to play it fully. I experienced a sound problem from my blu ray player on a dvd movie i downloaded, kept getting stereo sound from the HDMI so i used the optic instead and got 5.1 sound. I know its not the same as a PC but it could be a similar problem. But in some computer mags i've read they say the HDMI interface is not really great for PCs and are better used for home entertainment systems instead. They mostly recomment DVI for best picture quality and the sound would be a seperate connector from the sound card.

    Sometimes the sound is just not compatable for HDMI interface, which means you need to seperate them and out put it as something else like a optic, phono etc....
