Ign Reports - Serenity 2 Aka Bdm Sequel
JELEINEN replied to DeathHammer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've read that Whedon's deal with Universal was for five films (not necessarily all Firefly/Serenity). I imagine that the DVD sales for Serenity are going to more than make up for any losses at the box office, which is probably what they're banking a second film on. -

Yes. I don't give them a lot of credit. -

Interesting news. It appears that Manga no longer has the rights to the first two Patlabor movies (they're going to be re-released by a new division of Bandai Visual). If Manga is continuing to not renew their licenses, I think this adds weight to the belief that they no longer have Aim for the Top! -
Trailer For Dead Or Alive The Movie

Thanks. I'm not familiar with the game, but yeah, it looks pretty bad. Myk - love your avatar man, but it's not exactly work safe for some of us. -
Trailer For Dead Or Alive The Movie

The link at the start of this thread appears to be dead. Is there another place that has it? -
Most of my problems with the show are problems I have with the boys fighting genre as a whole (horribly bad pacing, for instance). That said, I do find the characters in Bleach to be interesting and the setting has a lot of potential.
-
Looks like they really did a lot of work on getting the costumes and the designs right. I'll watch this if I get a chance.

Sorry man, but this can't be further from the truth. There are entire lines of LEGO sets that don't have a single set model to build (the Creator series is just plain awesome for this). And while there is now a huge variety in brick shapes, there are very, very few that just have a single function. Now, if you want super specialized pieces and limited building possibilities, then go for Mega Bloks (although they have some admittedly cool looking stuff).
-
Again, these are sets you build. They are entirely made up of separate pieces. I guess maybe it's because I'm used to LEGO, but I immediately spotted what bricks were used to make them without a problem.
-
Yeah! Stupid businesses trying to make money. Wtf is up with that? They should just ignore market trends from now on. That said, these look less like Lego and more like straight up toys. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I liked the days when you had to actually build your Lego. 346922 Actually, LEGO is quite good about making sure that everything is built. If you were to open a box for one of these, you're just going to see a lot of small parts. If the end result looks like a unified whole, then the guys who designed the set did their job right. In fact, in the last five years, LEGO has gotten even more and more into making sure that their sets are about the building as much as the play afterwards.
-
Then don't buy them. I find LEGO to be a lot of fun, so not a waste for me at all. Edit: original snarky reply deleted.

Considering how casually he was willing to kill millions of people just for money, I'd say Hackman's Luther was pretty serious.

Does that include such scenes as: 1) Zod or one of his men killing that boy who tried to escape from that small town with the light of a police car. Someone cries out "He was just a boy!" Then Zod or one of his men say something like "He'll never be a man." 2) Superman erasing Lois' memory and then destroying the Fortress of Solitude. Without seeing this, it makes certain things in Superman IV quite confusing. For some reason they would play these scenes when it was aired on one of the national networks. Same thing went with the first Naked Gun movie... a scene cut from that shows how Frank's umpire vest was shot full of holes and deflated; in the theatrical cut, one moment the umpire vest is intact and then in the next moment, it's all deflated and shot full of holes! 346316 Don't know about the answer to your questions, but the directors cut is supposed to be from Donner, who was fired before he finished it and it was handed off to another director. Here's more info: http://www.supermanhomepage.com/images/new...watch-S2dvd.jpg

I'm intriged. Definitely going to see it when it comes out. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming directors cut of the second movie.

http://www.lego.com/eng/exoforce/default.asp The sets look pretty cool, though a bit more Bionicle-ish than what I like. I love the hair and faces on the minifigs.

I love the gag with Densha's mom.

I'd say wait until after a long seige where you systematically destroy all industrial capability from orbit and wear down their defences. Of course invading is one thing; holding on is another, especially if you're having to deal with a lot of insurgency. If you have a really good method for dealing with that, please contact our own government immediately. I believe the general consensus among scientists and hard SF writers has been for the last fifty years or so that actual planetary invasion is probably economically infeasible. Most SF writers who attempt it in stories, like Heinlein and Pournelle, usually do so in order to prove the consensus wrong, but almost invariably end up with special case situations that tend to prove the rule rather than disprove it.

It looks awesome, but what it needs is some rubber pieces to cover the joints. Having them exposed like that is really glaring. -
Best (new) Anime Series You´ve seen lately
JELEINEN replied to Aegis!'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've been mainly playing catch up on a backlog of shows to watch. Right now it's GauGaiGar, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Not sure what I'll go with after that. As to newer shows to recomend, for those who liked the cute, fun and innocence of AzuDai, check out Kamichu and Strawberry Marshmallow. Or, go with Pani Poni Dash for cute, fun and not so innocent. -

Personally, I found Basilisk to be lame and predictable. It's your typical action porn. -
Fighters would be very tiny at that scale.

Considering that for at least a decade, the furthest anyone had ever subbed was episode 42, feel lucky you're up to past 50 now. That said, I've heard that the guy who does most of Central's work is back from Iraq, so maybe things will pick up a bit.

I think that was an April Fools gag. Didn't they re-do Aquaman in the comics to be all grim and angsty? Maybe if they went with that, it wouldn't be too bad. -

There's a whole bunch of Mobile Student pictures (Osaka posing as Gundams). Hilarious stuff.
